  • As the notion of environment protection changes throughout the world, construction engineers, as part of the effort to resolve environmental problems, have been actively doing research on environmental friendly porous concrete using large and non-uniform aggregate. Concrete having a great deal of continuous porosity enable water and air to pass freely through firmly hardened material, allowing necessary nutrients to reach roots of vegetation, thereby sustaining them. It is possible to prevent the exhaustion of natural resources by recycling waste concrete and industrial by-products, to reduce damage caused by the destruction of nature through effective management of natural resources, to preserve the natural environment and vegetation in urban areas by activating the soil, protecting the underground ecology system, and growing garden plants through the application of environmentally friendly concrete.

  • CO2 emissions are caused by cement manufacturing process. To solve this problem construction industry are using industrial by-products to replace cement. In this study, three different industrial by products were used and mixed with hybrid fibers to enhance bond strength. As the result, Regardless of the mixing rate of silica fume, the compressive strength of the ternary non cent mortar was higher than that of OPC and binary. And mixed hybrid fibers cured by room temperature compressive strength were 23% higher than those without hybrid fibers.

  • As production, distribution, consumption and processing increase with the development of industrial societies, the importance of resource depletion and environmental problems is increasing day by day. This has led to increased research and interest in remanufacturing that can satisfy both environmental and economic aspects. Currently, the remanufacturing industry is progressed in Korea with automobile parts with as the central figure, and it needs to be expanded into various areas. In this study, the failure type analysis and FMEA were performed on the hydraulic pumps used in construction and industrial sites for the development of the standard remanufacturing process plan, and the actual disassembly and reassembly process was carried out. Remanufacturing products were manufactured through the analysis contents and drawing process, performance tests were conducted in accordance with RS B1501 criteria to evaluate performance, and all of these products passed the test criteria.

  • When testing products before shipment to the customer, quality characteristics are measured to decide whether or not their values are between the specification limits. Unfortunately, this testing procedure can lead to incorrect decisions because of gauge error. That is, good products can erroneously be qualified as bad, and bad products as good, and this has consequences for producer's and consumer's risk. In cases of such as this, the compressed gauge limit can be used to achieve the desired product quality level dictated by the manufacturer or the customer. A compressed gauge limit is a limit set by the manufacturer on a test gauge that is tighter than the specification limit established by the customer. The compressed gauge limits should be set at levels to achieve the defect levels desired by the customer and simultaneously minimize the loss of good product that is rejected due to errors in the gauges. In this article, the models for determining the defect levels and the losses obtained by adding compressed gauge limits will be developed. A response surface model approach is utilized which allows an optimal operating condition to be generated relatively easily.

  • The management of return flows induced by the various forms of reuse of products and materials in industrial production processes has received growing attention throughout this decade. As one of the developing countries in the world trade market, we have to apply the reverse logistics system considering an environment seriously, and to implement reverse logistics activities abreast with the forward logistics system of a companies. Therefore, the objective of this study was to discuss what the reverse logistics system of Environmentally Conscious Logistics Systems(ECLS) is by introducing a case study.

  • The cleavage products formed by autoxidation of phytofluene were evaluated in order to elucidate possible oxidation products of phytofluene under oxidative conditions. Phytofluene solubilized at 50$\mu$M in liposomal suspension was oxidized by incubating at 37$^{\circ}C$ for 72 h. Among a number of oxidation products formed, five products in the carbonyl compound fraction were identified as 6, 10, 14-trimethylpentadeca-3,5,9,13-tetraen-2-one, phytapentaenal, 5,9,13,17-tetramethyloctadeca-2,4,6,8,12,16-hexaenal, 5,9,13,17-tetramethyloctadeca-2,4,8,12,16-pentaenal, 2,7,11,15,19-pentamethylicosa-2,4,6,10,14,18-hexaenal and 4,9,13,17,21-pentamethyldocosa-2,4,6,8,12,16,20-heptaenal. These correspond to a series of products formed by cleavage in the respective eight conjugated double bonds of phytofluene. Also, 4,5-didehydorgeranyl geranoic acid was formed by autoxidation of phytofluene in liposomal suspension. The pig liver homogenate had the ability to convert phytapentaenal to 4,5-didehydrogeranyl geranoic acid, comparable to the conversion of all-trans-retinal to all-trans-retinoic acid. These results suggest that phytofluene is cleaved to a series of long-chain and short-chain carbonyl compounds under the oxidative condition in vitro and that phytapentaenal is further enzymatically converted to 4,5-didehydrogeranyl geranoic acid.

  • Calcium lactate has been known extending shelf-life of several lactic acid fermented foods through buffer action with lactic acid and binding of calcium and pectic polysaccharides in the tissue. But, the effects in kimchi during storage and distribution has not been observed. Calcium lactate is tasteless, nontoxic compounds commonly used in a number of food products. Recent observations have indicated the potential usefulness of calcium lactate as food additive which has anticariogenic-, antimicrobial-, anticalculus, anti- carcinogenic effects and enhancement of bone mineral density. In this work we determined the effects of calcium lactate(CaL)-treatment(0, 1, 2 and 3% against salted Chinese cabbage) on the pH, acidity, microbial counts, content of alcohol insoluble substance and calcium texture, color, scanning electron microscopic observation of kimchi tissue and sensory test during storage. pH of CaL treated kimchi were higher(3.78∼3.92) than that of control products(3.58). Total microbe(TM) of CaL treated kimchis were lower but ratio of lactic acid bacteria against TM was higher than those of control products, respectively. Calcium content of treated products were 3-5 times higher than control products. The hardness and crispy taste of treated products were remarkably higher than those of control products evaluated by SEM observation AIS analysis, sensory and textural analysis. Moreover, evaluation on the pH, acidity and sensory test showed the shelf-life of treated kimchi(CaL 2%) to be 25-30 days, which was 13-15 days longer than that of control products.

  • Recently as the manufacturers want competitiveness in dynamically changing environment, they are trying a lot of efforts to be efficient with their production systems, which may be achieved by diminishing unplanned operation stops. The operation stops and maintenance cost are known to be significantly decreased by adopting proper maintenance strategy. Therefore, the manufacturers were more getting interested in scheduling of exact maintenance scheduling to keep smooth operation and prevent unexpected stops. In this paper, we proposedan integrated maintenance approach in injection molding manufacturing line. It consists of predictive and preventive maintenance approach. The predictive maintenance uses the statistical process control technique with the real-time data and the preventive maintenance is based on the checking period of machine components or equipment. For the predictive maintenance approach, firstly, we identified components or equipment that are required maintenance, and then machine parameters that are related with the identified components or equipment. Second, we performed regression analysis to select the machine parameters that affect the quality of the manufactured products and are significant to the quality of the products. By this analysis, we can exclude the insignificant parameters from monitoring parameters and focus on the significant parameters. Third, we developed the statistical prediction models for the selected machine parameters. Current models include regression, exponential smoothing and so on. We used these models to decide abnormal patternand to schedule maintenance. Finally, for other components or equipment which is not covered by predictive approach, we adoptedpreventive maintenance approach. To show feasibility we developed an integrated maintenance support system in LabView Watchdog Agent and SQL Server environment and validated our proposed methodology with experimental data.
