A Design of Location Index System in Indoor Environment for Ubiquitous Computing Environment (유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경을 위한 실내 환경에서의 위치 색인 시스템의 설계)

  • 유비쿼터스 시대가 도래함에 따라 실내 환경에서의 위치 기반 서비스의 요구가 높아지고 중요해지고 있다. 따라서 본 논문은 실내 환경에서 이동객체의 위치를 추적하고, 이로 인해 생성된 위치데이터를 활용한 색인 알고리즘을 통해 이동 객체의 궤적을 트리에 저장, 색인하는 시스템을 제안한다. 제안하는 시스템은 기존에 사용되던 삼각측량 기법을 통해 실내 환경에서의 위치 데이터를 생성한 후, Kalman Filter를 사용하여 오차를 보정한다. 보정된 최종 위치 데이터를 기존에 연구된 HR 트리의 성능을 개선한 EHR-트리에 저장하여 이동객체의 위치를 색인 한다. 이를 통해 실내 환경에서 이동 객체의 이동 경로를 수집함으로 대형 쇼핑몰에서 미아를 찾거나 유통과 물류 등에서 사용자 또는 물품의 이동경로 분석을 통해 새로운 비즈니스 모델을 도입하는 등 다양한 서비스를 제공할 수 있다.

Development of a Linear Chemigation System (가로주행식 케미게이션 시스템의 개발)

  • A linear chemigation system, integrating agrichemical appication units of pesticide and fertilizer into an irrigation system, was selected as a suitable model for the cost savings in farm management and automation. Technical designs were conducted in the areas of structure, power, drive, control, and hydraulic systems. An experimental farm was sectioned into the fields of 40m by 200m and systemized with the linear-move chemigation system of 36m in span. The chemigation system consisted of a base unit monitoring and controlling overall operation, and a driving unit traveling linearly and injecting agrichemicals. Monitoring and interlocking systems were utilized against unexpected malfunctions of power, injection and drive systems using radio freuency modems between the units. The system can be also modified to various farm sizes and stationary systems of indoor and outdoor.

  • Localization and its applications are very important area of the mobile robot technology. Especially, accurate localization is needed when we move the mobile robot to the goal position. In indoor cases, Global Positioning System(GPS) is not suitable but Radio Frequency Identification(RFID) technology can provide position data to the robot. A proposed algorithm in this paper uses not only odometry data but also RFID data to improve estimation of true position of the robot with the particle filtering.

  • Visible light communication based wireless personal area network (WPAN) has recently remained in the center of attention, as it shows a lot of promise to a be a perfect replacement for the contemporary Radio frequency (RF) communication at least in the indoor environment. A commercially deployable VLC based WPAN must support diverse traffic requirement for different kinds of service. In this paper, we have proposed an innovative bandwidth allocation scheme for VLC based WPAN. We wish to allocate bandwidth adaptively for users in a network where bandwidth for each user is allocated scalably. Our aim is to allow maximum number of users in a VLC based WPAN where each user is guaranteed their required QoS. The simulation results justify that the proposed scheme is better than the conventional scheme.

A Study on Polarization Diversity for the Next Generation Mobile Radio Communications

  • In this paper, in order to investigate the fading reduction effect of narrowband and broadband signals in an indoor multipath propagation environment, both the received narrowband signal while a vehicle unit in motion and the frequency sweeped broadband signal received by vertical polarized antenna, horizontal polarized antenna and circularly polarized antenna are analyzed. Specifically, in order to evaluate polarization diversity effect, we examined the difference of fading reduction effect between the polarization diversity reception and the space diversity reception. Using the correlation coefficient and correlation graph for the polarization diversity branches, the diversity effect is evaluated. And also, using the cumulative distribution for the received signal strength simulated by diversity reception, the diversity effect is also estimated. From the evaluation results it was found that the polarization diversity which use a circularly polarized antenna at the transmitting end and the vertical and horizontal polarized antenna branches at the receiving end is markedly excellent.

  • For combating multipath fading in wireless radio environment, diversity schemes is useful. In this paper, for performance improvement of polarization diversity system, we analyzed a two-branch polarization diversity at the receiving end of a mobile link when the transmitter emits a circularly polarized wave. And In order to calculate the correlation coefficient considering the XPD(cross polarization discrimination) between the received signals for the two diversity branches, a simple theoretical model of circular polarization diversity is adopted and calculate correlation coefficient. From the analysis results, it is seen that the correlation coefficient of circular polarization diversity evaluated by the XPD is less than that of vertical polarization diversity. And also, we designed and fabricated circular polarization diversity system with microstrip antenna. we analyzed data measured in indoor NLOS environment using fabricated circular polarization diversity system. From the measurement results, it is clearly seen that the diversity effect of circular polarization diversity system is higher 3dB than vertical polarization diversity system.

  • 협대역 다중접속 방식의 한계를 벗어난 Ultra-wide band(UWB) 기술이 고속 데이터 전송을 위해 많이 개발되어지고 있다. UWB 시스템은 방사전력 제한을 두고 있어서 근거리 실내 무선통신 분야에서 활용 범위가 확대되고 있다. 하지만 실내 무선 환경에서는 벽, 천장, 바닥 그리고 실내에 위치한 장애물 등에 의한 다중경로 페이딩 영향으로 초고속 실내 무선통신 서비스를 제공하는데 어려움이 있다. 이러한 실내 다중경로 성분에 의한 페이딩을 경감시키는 여러 가지 방법 중에서 원형편파를 이용하면, 상대적으로 긴 지연을 갖는 강한 다중경로 성분을 효과적으로 제거할 수가 있기 때문에 수신신호의 RMS 지연 감소, 페이딩 경감 및 신호강도 개선효과 등을 얻을 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 원형편파를 고려한 수정된 UWB 채널의 파라미터를 수정 정립하였고, 수정된 채널모델을 UWB 시스템에 적용하여 성능 개선을 시도하였다.

  • GPS(Global Positioning System) data has a high accuracy at outdoor positioning generally, but its accuracy decreases in the urban areas with dense buildings. Moreover insufficient number of satelllites prevent us GPS positioning at inside of buildings. To complement these shortcomings of GPS, RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) has been studied on indoor positioning parts. In Ubiquitous environment, LBS(Location Based Service) which can be used anytime and anywhere is an essential component. We use kalman filter to estimate the real location in GPS and RFID handover area. This study's purpose is to make a continuous positioning system using interlocking RFID and GPS.

  • 최근 스마트폰의 빠른 보급으로 다양한 사용자의 위치정보를 기반으로 하는 위치기반 서비스가 제공되고 있다. 다수의 위치기반서비스는 다양한 네트워크기반의 측위 기술을 이용하여 제공되고 있지만, 실외 측위에 사용되는 GPS(Global Positioning System)의 이용이 불가능한 실내 이동 환경에서는 실내 측위를 하기 위한 전문적인 시스템이 필요하다. RFID(Radio Frequency Identification)기술은 적은 인프라 구축비용과 낮은 유지보수 비용으로 실내 측위에서 많은 가능성을 보이고 있다. RFID기술을 이용한 대표적인 실내측위 시스템 LANDMARC는 기타 시스템과 달리 RFID리더기의 배치 수량을 줄이는 동시에 위치 측정의 정확성을 보장함으로써 높은 사용 가능성을 제공한다. 본 논문에서는 위치기반 서비스를 제공하기 위하여 RFID를 이용한 실내 측위 기법을 제안하여 기존의 LANDMARC 시스템에 비하여 더 높은 정확성을 보장함을 보였다.

Visible Light Communication Employing Optical Beamforming: A Review

  • Visible light communication (VLC) is considered a strong future candidate for indoor wireless communication. However, its performance seems to be relatively unsatisfactory when compared to wireless local area network (WLAN) communication using millimeter waves. To improve the performance of VLC, numerous technologies have been proposed so far, in both electrical and optical domains. Among the proposals, optical beamforming (OB) is an optical-domain technology that can concentrate light in a specific direction or on a target spot. It can significantly improve VLC performance and can be widely used, because it does not depend on electrical modulation schemes. Therefore, this review discusses the concept, principle, and types of OB, the structure of a VLC system using OB, performance results of OB, and the combination of OB with electrical signal modulation in VLC. OB is expected to be one of the key techniques in future VLC implementations, similar to radio-frequency beamforming in millimeter-wave communication.
