  • As indoor air quality directly affects health and comforts of the residents, researchers from different countries have continued to explore criteria by which indoor air quality can be indicated in a scientific and quantitative manner over the past several decades. However, there are many possibilities that can deteriorate indoor air quality. Due to the uncertainty of influence factors, it is quite difficult to develop a correct evaluation model and quantitative method. Furthermore, the effects from the indoor air pollutants have different levels, leading to the difficulties to apply the regular standard. This study aims to propose evaluation criteria by using the FD-AHP analysis. Obtained findings will be beneficial to construct apartment buildings, commercial buildings and others health performance evaluation framework.

  • Nowadays, according to many studies, indoor space's pollution level is two to ten times higher than outdoor space's. This result arouses our attention. The major causes of deterioration of indoor air quality are the lack of ventilation caused by draught-proofing and insulation construction, and harmful chemical substances emitted from building materials, office machine and furniture. Therefore, we are continuing research to find the method for healthful house and production of many forms of well-being goods. However, because of exaggerated advertisements and the lack of accurate information, consumers choose the products whose performance is not verified. Therefore, this study investigates the actual conditions of pollution by building materials and the extent of the health damage by this pollution, and suggests the method for minimizing indoor pollution in aspect of indoor environment control and the use of environment friendly materials. But the building materials presented in this study are limited to the environment friendly construction materials that are in circulation In domestic market because this research is primarily aimed to give domestic consumers the standard for selecting this materials.

  • This study is to propose the basic data for deciding remodeling of wornout educational facilities. In order of it, the indoor environmental standard, the actual conditions of thermal environment and sound insulation of walls were examined through field measurement in the subjected open elementary school(J school) and modernization model of elementary school(Y school) which they are located in Seoul. As the result, standard for indoor environmental factors of educational facilities which is established by Ministry of Education is not subdivided into indoor environmental performances considering usages and characteristics of classrooms for comfortable indoor environment. The vertical temperature difference in general classroom and in open classroom showed to be $11.2^{\circ}C$ and $12.1^{\circ}C$ respectively, while indoor temperature of special classroon was, on the whole, higher than that of any other classroom due to its specific heat flux of wall materials. The sound insulation performance of the masonry brick wall of classroom satisfied the minimum standard of AIJ, Architectural Institute of Japan, in the open elementary school and the modernization model of elementary school. That is to say, the movable partition wall between the classroom and the corridor disturbed students in their class in the open school.

  • In this paper, we propose a method for estimating the error of the Ultra-Wideband (UWB) distance measurement using the channel impulse response (CIR) of the UWB signal based on machine learning. Due to the recent demand for indoor location-based services, wireless signal-based localization technologies are being studied, such as UWB, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. The constructive obstacles constituting the indoor environment make the distance measurement of UWB inaccurate, which lowers the indoor localization accuracy. Therefore, we apply machine learning to learn the characteristics of UWB signals and estimate the error of UWB distance measurements. In addition, the performance of the proposed algorithm is analyzed through experiments in an indoor environment composed of various walls.

  • The indoor localization algorithm using the Difference Means based on Fingerprint (DMFPA) to improve the performance of indoor localization in moving Wi-Fi environment is proposed in this paper. In addition to this, the performance of the proposed algorithm is also compared with the Original Fingerprint Algorithm (OFPA) and the Gaussian Distribution Fingerprint Algorithm (GDFPA) by our developed indoor localization simulator. The performance metrics are defined as the accuracy of the average localization accuracy; the average/maximum cumulative distance of the occurred errors and the average measurement time in each reference point.

  • Indoor air pollutants can cause severe health problems, specifically in terms of toxicological impacts on human. Every day, a complex mixture of many air pollutants is emitted from various sources and subject to atmospheric processes that can create varied classes of pollutants such as carboxylic acids, aldehydes, ketones, peroxyacetyl nitrate, and hydrocarbons. To adhere to indoor air quality standards, a number of techniques such as photocatalytic oxidation of various volatile organic compounds (VOCs) have been employed. Among these techniques, titania ($TiO_2$) based photocatalytic reactions have proven to be the best benchmark standard approach in the field of environmental applications. Over the last 45 years, $TiO_2$-based photocatalytic reactions have been explored for the degradation of various pollutants. This review discusses the indoor air quality profile, types of indoor pollutants, available indoor air cleaning approaches, and performance of $TiO_2$-based catalysts. Finally, we have presented the perspectives on the progress of $TiO_2$ induced photocatalysis for the purification of indoor air.
