개별여행비용법(TCM)을 이용한 동해안 해수욕장의 경제적 가치추정 (Estimating the Economic Value of the East Sea Beach Using Individual Travel Cost Method)

  • The purpose of this paper is to estimate the economic value of beaches which are the major part of the East Sea Coast. ITCM (Individual Travel Cost Method) is applied to estimate the economic value of its beaches using Poisson, negative binomial, truncated Poisson and truncated negative binomial models. The consumer surplus during length of stay per capita is 214,088 won in beaches overall on the East Sea Coast, 206,398 won in Gangwon-do beaches and 271,171 won in Gyeongbuk/Ulsan beaches. Annual total economic value of its beaches considering the number of visitors at beaches is 6,269 billion won (3,970 billion won in Kangwondo beaches, 2,299 billion won in Kyungbuk/Ulsan beaches).

  • This paper aims at estimating consumer surplus for recreational sea fishing in Tongyeong coastal area using individual travel cost method. A Poisson model (PM), a negative binomial model (NBM), a truncated Poisson model (TPM), and a truncated negative binomial model (TNBM) are applied for individual travel cost method in order to account characteristics of count data (non-negative discrete data.) The survey was conducted for 462 inshore anglers using personal interview method in Tongyeong during July and October 2007. Respondents were asked about how often they do fishing, travel costs, catch, income, and so on. Because of over-dispersion problem in PM and TPM, NBM and TNBM were considered to be more appropriate statistically. All parameters estimated are statistically significant and theoretically valid. As the results based on TNBM, consumer surplus per trip was estimated to be 183,486 won, total consumer surplus per person and per year 3,399,658 won, and the marginal effect of consumer surplus on % changes in catch rate is 185,372 won.

Valuing Ecotourism in Palutungan Resort, Gunung Ciremai National Park, Indonesia

  • In this paper, we conducted an empirical study on the economic value of Palutungan Resort, Gunung Ciremai National Park (Indonesia), using an individual travel cost method. Gunung Ciremai is the highest mountain in West Java Province which has high biodiversity and constitutes the home range of the endangered species, Nisaetus bartelsi and leopards. Using the individual travel cost method, we estimated the annual consumer surplus of ecotourism for Palutungan Resort to be approximately $19, while its total economic value was $0.23 million. However, Palutungan Resort does not benefit exclusively, because the total economic value is divided diversely among the central government (non-tax revenue), local government (taxes), and local communities, while the transportation agencies, retailers, and gas station companies also reap some valuable benefits. In regard to the benefit allocation, all of the associated parties should participate in the conservation and preservation of natural resources in Palutungan Resort to improve the ecotourism services.

허베이 스피리트호의 기름유출에 따른 바다유어낚시어선 이용객의 경제적 손실평가연구 (Evaluating the Economic Damages to Anglers of the Marine Recreational Charter due to the Herbei Spirit Vessel Oil Spill)

  • This paper aims to evaluate the indirect economic damages to anglers of the marine recreational charter caused by marine pollution associated with the Herbei Spirit vessel, which spilled 12,547 kl of crude oil in Taean coastal areas in December 2007. In order to evaluate the indirect cost to anglers of the charter fishing, consumer surplus for charter fishing is estimated using a Poisson model (PM), a negative binomial model (NBM), a truncated Poisson model (TPM), and a truncated negative binomial model (TNBM), which account for the characteristics of count data (non-negative discrete data), for individual travel cost method (ITCM). Because of over-dispersion problem in PM and TPM, NBM and TNBM are considered to be more appropriate statistically. All parameters such as income, fishing careers, travel cost and catch that are estimated are statistically significant and theoretically valid. Based on TNBM results, consumer surplus per trip and per person was estimated to be 277 thousand won, total consumer surplus per person and per year about 2.3 million won, and the marginal effect of consumer surplus on % changes in catch rate is about 33 thousand won. The consumer surplus was converted into total indirect economic damages for aggregation which are evaluated to be 125 billion won, reflecting the number of anglers and damage rate.

함평나비(대)축제의 사회적 가치 - 여행비용접근법을 바탕으로 - (The Social Value of Ham-Pyung Butterfly Festival - Through the Travel Cost Method -)

  • The aim of this study is to assess the social value of Ham-Pyung Butterfly Festival in the year of 2011. The tool for the assesment is the zonal travel cost method. The result of the study can be summed up as follows; First, the average individual consumer's surplus measures approximately from 29,700 to 30,100 Won. Second, the total consumer's surplus, that is the social value of the festival, ranges approximately from 7.6 to 7.7 billion Won. The most beneficiary of the event is turned up to be the people who are living in the outside of Ham-Pyung and go on a tour there. For that reason, the central government looks to have the obligation to support and to sponsor the festival.

생태하천복원사업 전후 경제적 가치 비교분석 (Ex-ante and Ex-post Economic Value Analysis on Ecological River Restoration Project)

  • 본 연구는 서울시에서 추진한 청계천 복원사업에 대한 경제적 가치를 평가하기 위해 심층출구면접조사 방식으로 수집된 자료를 바탕으로 여행비용법(Travel Cost Method, TCM)을 적용하였다. 가산자료의 특성을 감안하여 분석모형은 포아송모형(Poisson Model, PM), 음이항모형(Negative Binomial, NB), 절단된 포아송모형(Zero-truncated Poisson, ZTP), 그리고 절단된 음이항모형(Zero-truncated Negative Binomial, ZTNB)을 사용하였다. 분석결과 추정계수들은 통계적으로 유의하게 나타났고 일반적인 소비자경제이론에 부합하는 결과가 도출되었다. 조사된 자료에서 과산포현상(Over-dispersion)이 발견되었으며 모형적합도검정을 통해서 절단된 음이항모형(Zero-truncated Negative Binomial, ZTNB)이 청계천 방문객의 수요를 추정하는 데 최적모형으로 선정되었다. 생태하천복원사업인 청계천복원사업의 경제적 가치를 추정하기 위해 방문객의 연평균 방문횟수와 최적모형에서 추정된 계수를 통해서 분석한 결과 청계천의 경제적 가치는 2013년 기준으로 연간 약 1,902 원으로 추정되었다.

TCM을 이용한 칠갑저수지의 레크리에이션 편익 분석 (Measuring Recreational Benefits of Chilgap Reservoir Using TCM)

  • The study attempts to estimate the recreational benefits of Chilgap multi-purpose reservoir using the on-site survey sample of 130 visitors. The individual travel cost method is used for measuring the recreational benefits of Chilgap multi-purpose reservoir and a zero-truncated negative binomial model is used to elicit the travel demand function. The price elasticities of visit demand are ranged from 0.29 to 0.39. Recreational benefits are ranged from 119 to 156 thousand won per visit and are ranged from 292 to 383 thousand won per annual. When the number of annual visitors to Chilgap reservoir is appled, then the recreational benefits are ranged from 2.7 to 3.6 billion won. This study could contribute to the advancement of post-construction evaluation in the public construction field similar to Chilgap reservoir.

가산자료모형을 이용한 송정 해수욕장의 경제적 가치추정: - 비수기 해수욕장의 가치추정 - (Estimating the Economic Value of the Songieong Beach Using A Count Data Model: - Off-season Estimating Value of the Beach -)

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate the economic value of the Songieong Beach in Off-season, using a Individual Travel Cost Model(ITCM). Songieong Beach is located in Busan but far away from city. These days, however, the increased rate of traffic inflow to the Songieong beach and the five-day working week are reflected in the trend analysis. Moreover, people have changed psychological value. For that reason, visitors are on the increase on the beach in off-season. The ITCM is applied to estimate non-market value or environmental Good like a Contingent Valuation Method and Hedonic Price Model etc. The ITCM was derived from the Count Data Model(i.e. Poisson and Negative Binomial model). So this paper compares Poisson and negative binomial count data models to measure the tourism demands. The data for the study were collected from the Songjeong Beach on visitors over the a week from November 1 through November 23, 2006. Interviewers were instructed to interview only individuals. So the sample was taken in 113. A dependent variable that is defined on the non-negative integers and subject to sampling truncation is the result of a truncated count data process. This paper analyzes the effects of determinants on visitors' demand for exhibition using a class of maximum-likelihood regression estimators for count data from truncated samples, The count data and truncated models are used primarily to explain non-negative integer and truncation properties of tourist trips as suggested by the economic valuation literature. The results suggest that the truncated negative binomial model is improved overdispersion problem and more preferred than the other models in the study. This paper is not the same as the others. One thing is that Estimating Value of the Beach in off-season. The other thing is this study emphasizes in particular 'travel cost' that is not only monetary cost but also including opportunity cost of 'travel time'. According to the truncated negative binomial model, estimates the Consumer Surplus(CS) values per trip of about 199,754 Korean won and the total economic value was estimated to be 1,288,680 Korean won.

공원녹지의 관광위락가치에 관한 연구 (An Analysis of the Tour and Recreation Values of the Parks)

  • This paper examines the individual and social values of tour and recreation activities related to the characteristics and attractions of parks in urban area through a questionnaire. The data for this research consists of 2,942 samples based on interviews in sixteen parks in Daegu area. Implications of the findings for urban parks design and tour and recreation policy are discussed. Travel cost method and contingent valuation method are applied essentially. These methods yield a reasonable estimation of the relationship between tour and recreation values of the parks and the visit rate which can be used to estimate demand functions for tour and recreation experiences provided by a site. Semilog-type models can be used to estimate the use of the park. Finally, the tour and recreation value of each park per user-day is estimated by the total experiences of the users. This study is a modest but important step in the investigation of urban parks and recreation site demand and values. Many of the developments in contingent valuation method and travel cost modeling should now be applied to the urban scale parks and recreation sits. Such studies will contribute significantly to the improvement of methodology for tour and recreation values measuring, especially to individual and social benefits for the urban parks, and provide the much needed guidance for the allocation of scarce tour and recreation resources.

누적환승함수를 고려한 경험적 최적경로탐색 방안 (A Heuristic Optimal Path Search Considering Cumulative Transfer Functions)

  • 환승누적함수에서 환승회수가 증가되면 환승비용에 대한 개별적인 환승의 영향이 선형 또는 비선형적으로 증가된다. 이 함수는 버스 또는 철도와 같이 대중교통노선에서 경로를 선택하는 승객의 행태를 효과적으로 설명한다. 이 함수로 통행시간이 더 소요되더라도 환승이 적은 대중교통노선을 선택하는 일반적인 상황의 구현이 가능하다. 그러나 환승누적함수가 포함되는 통행비용은 비가산성비용으로 최적경로탐색을 위해서 경로열거라는 어려운 상황을 포함한다. 본 연구는 환승누적함수를 고려하여 최적경로를 탐색하는 효과적인 방안을 제안하였다. 이를 위해 우선 환승누적함수가 포함되는 경우 경로탐색과정에서 나타나는 최적경로역전 현상을 설명하였다. 또한 복수의 경로를 탐색해서 최소의 비용경로를 최적경로로 선택하는 경험적인 방안을 제안하였다. 유입링크기반 전체경로삭제기법을 복수경로탐색기법으로 채택하여 알고리즘의 경로최적조건의 증명성에 기반하여 K개의 경로를 탐색하는 방안을 제안하였다. 환승계수를 도입하는 사례연구를 통하여 제안된 방안의 실제 교통망에 대한 활용성을 논의하였다.
