치과위생사의 방사선 촬영업무의 확대에 대한 문헌적 고찰 (A literature review on expansion of dental hygienists' radiography operations)

  • This study analyzes through the review of literature and laws the exposure time, clinical frequency, and radiation exposure of intraoral and extraoral radiography as well as of panoramic radiography performed by dental hygienists in dental clinics, compares the dental radiology curriculums of radiological science and dental hygiene departments, and proposes the expansion of dental hygienists' radiography operations. The radiology curriculums were compared between the radiological science and dental hygiene departments of colleges. For new analysis by radiography for dental diagnosis, the exposure time, radiation absorbed dose, effective dose, and number of days of natural radiation were compared by the type of oral radiation films and radiographical techniques proposed by domestic and international studies. The exposure time of panoramic radiography is 15 seconds and it takes about two minutes for completion, whereas the exposure time of the standard radiography is 0.2~0.8 seconds and it takes 10 times longer for completion of the radiography of full mouth than the panoramic radiography. The standard radiography can cause distortions of radiation at severely curved parts of dental arch and palatopharyngeal reflex. However, panoramic radiography can be performed even for lock jaw patients, causes less inconvenience to patients and is much simpler than the standard radiography. The percentage of dental clinics where radiography is performed by dental hygienists was 92.0%, and the percentage of standard film radiography by dental hygienists was 98% whereas the percentage of panoramic radiography by dental hygienists was 92%. For the absorbed dose which is an indicator of radiation exposure, the When the effective dose which is an indicator of the danger of radiation exposure was converted to the number of days of natural radiation, it was 3.3 days for panoramic radiography, but 13.9 days for the full mouth standard radiography by bisecting angle technique which was 4.2 times longer than the panoramic radiography. There were two colleges that had a dental radiology course with two credits in the departments of radiological science. The credits for dental radiology courses in the department of dental hygiene ranged varied by college, ranging from 3 to 8; on average, the theory course was 2.2 credits and the practice course was 2.02 credits. To summarize the above results, the percentage of dental clinics where panoramic radiography is performed by dental hygienists under the guidance of dentists is high. Panoramic radiography has become an essential facility for dental clinics. It is faster than standard film radiography and less dangerous due to low radiation exposure. Panoramic radiography is a simple mechanical job that does not require training of oral radiography by radiotechnologist. Because panoramic radiography is one of major operations which must be performed at all times in dental clinics, it must be designated as intraoral technique rather than extraoral technique, or legalized for inclusion in the scope of operations of dental hygienists.

종합대학 도서관장서의 적정량기준 설정에 관한 고찰 -미국의 종합대학도서관기준을 중심으로- (Problems in Quantification of Adequacy of Academic Library Collections -Critical Analysis of Standards for Academic Libraries in the U.S.-)

  • Library standards have been the source of considerable controversy, whereas many problems are involved in developing stardard for university library collections. For evaluation purposes, standards should be precise, quantifiable and measurable. In the United States, however, standards for academic libraries are limited to qualitative statements and principles. Quantitative standards, when given, are ususally related to the number of population in the institution being served, or the prescribed quantitative objectives are often arbitrarily formulated by value judgements. The study in this paper attempts to explain the problems involved in developing quantitative standard for academic library collections. Two problems facing in the formulation of the optimal size of collection are identified. One is the theoretically faulty concept of adequacy of collection to meet the situations of diversity of university libraies, and the other is the difficulties in quantification and measurement, along with the lack of concept of adequacy of collection. However, quantification of adequate size of collection is proved to be useful on the pratical level, even though not valid theoretically. ACRL, Clapp/Jordan and Voigt developed formulas or models for setting the optimal size of a library collection for any particular university library. The main purpose of this study is the analysis of the above formulas. ACRL standard was drawn from obervation and analysis of statistcs in leading library collections. In academic field, this judgement appears to have been based on the assumption that a high-grade institution would be apt to have a good library collection. This study criticizes ACRL standard for its failure to include some determinants of measurements, and points out the limitations of the standard. In contrast. Clapp/Jordan developed a formula rather scientifically based upon bibliographical sources. This is similarly empirical but has the advantage of bringing into play the elements which make universities diverse in nature. Both ACRL and Clapp/Jordan formulas share two major defects. (1) the specific subject needs of the collection are not indiacted directly, and (2) percentage rate of growth is an indicator in measuring the potential utility of a collection. Thus both formulas failed to provide a basis for meaningful evaluation. Voigt further developed a model for determining acquisition rates for currently published materials based on bibliographic technique. Voigt model encourages experimentation with different programs and different allocations of input resources, designed to meet the needs of the library's particular population. Standard for university library collections can be formulated in terms of input(traditional indicator), or additionally, in terms of output(cost-effectiveness). Cost effectiveness is expressed as user satisfaction, ability to provide wanted materials within a reasonable time period. Thus simple quantitative method does not cover all the situations of diversity of university library collections, nor measures the effectiveness of collections. Valid standard could not be established without further research.

점오염원 형태의 유류누출 사건에 의한 실트질 토양층에서 BTEX와 TPH 성분의 오염도 연구 (The Contamination Characteristics of BTEX and TPH Components in Silty Soils with the Oil Leakage Event from Point Source)

  • 본 논문에서는 점오염원 형태의 유류누출이 발생되었던 실트질 토양층에서 BTEX와 TPH 성분의 오염특성이 연구되었다. TPH 성분의 토양오염기준별 초과율은 BTEX 성분에 비해 $1.5{\sim}1.7$ 배정도 높았다. BTEX와 TPH 성분의 채취지점별 평균과 최대값은 B-zone>A-zone>C-zone의 순이며, 두 성분 모두 지표면하 $1{\sim}2m$구간에서 오염농도가 가장 높게 나타났다. 오염원에서 수리경사 하부 방향으로 120m와 80m 이내인 지역에서는 BTEX와 TPH 농도가 이격거리에 따라 증가하였으며, 120 m 이상 이격된 지역에서는 토양오염기순 이하인 것으로 나타났다. BTEX와 TPH 성분에 대한 지시크리깅의 제한값으로는 토양오염 확인기준, 우려기준 및 대책기준 값이 적용되었다. 지시변환된 자료의 베리오그램 분석에 의하면, BTEX와 TPH성분 모두 선형모델이 가장 적합한 것으로 나타났다. 선형모델을 적용한 BTEX와 TPH 성분의 확률도에서 토양오염 확인기준과 우려기준의 오염 범위는 유사하게 나타났으나, 대책기준의 오염 범위는 매우 축소되었다. 토양오염 확인기준, 우려기준 및 대책기준에 의해 작성된 확률도에서 BTEX와 TPH 성분의 최대 오염 확률은 BTEX성분이 26%, 26% 및 13%, TPH 성분은 44%, 38% 및 26%인 것으로 추정되었다.

Outer Canthus Indicator를 이용한 두부 자세 기록법의 재현성 (Reproducibility and reliability of head posture obtained by the outer canthus indicator)

  • 두부방사선 사진 채득 시 발생가능한 두부의 수직회전은 계측점 선정 및 계측치의 재현성에 영향을 줄 수 있으므로 진단자료의 객관화 및 중첩의 용이성을 위해 두부 회전을 최소화해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 연조직 계측점인 외안각(outer canthus)을 지표로 두부 자세를 기록하고 재현하는 방법의 신뢰도를 평가하고자 하였다. 정상 안모의 성인 남녀 21명에서 두부고정기에 부착한 Outer Canthus Indicator (OCI)를 이용하여 벽면응시를 통한 두부자세에서의 외안각의 위치를 계측하였다. 초진 시 두부자세에서 측모 광학 사진을 촬영하고 이틀 후 같은 계측치로 두부자세를 재현하여 얻은 두 장의 사진을 중첩하여 두부의 수직 회전과 외이도의 변위를 측정하였다. 두 명의 술자가 동일 과정을 반복했을 때 두부의 수직 회전은 각각 평균 $0.69\;{\pm}\;0.43^{\circ}$, $0.98\;{\pm}\;0.65^{\circ}$, 표준오차 0.09, 0.14로 나타났다. 외이도의 수평변위는 각각 평균 $0.90\;{\pm}\;0.72\;mm$, $0.72\;{\pm}\;0.55\;mm$, 표준오차 0.16, 0.12이고 외이도의 수직변위는 평균 $0.81\;{\pm}\;0.68\;mm$, $1.17\;{\pm}\;0.67\;mm$, 표준오차 0.15, 0.15이었다. 술자간 신뢰도를 평가하기 위한 paired t-test에서 변수들간 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 발견되지 않았다. Pearson 상관분석에서 외이도의 수평 변위와 수직 변위 사이에 통계적으로 유의성 있는 상관관계는 나타나지 않았다. 이상의 결과에 따라 OCI가 두부의 수직 회전에 의한 오차를 줄임으로써 규격화되고 상호 중첩 가능한 방사선 사진 및 광학 사진 자료를 채득하는 데 도움을 줄 것으로 사료된다.

간호대학생의 성격유형과 주장훈련이 주장행동, 갈등관리 양식에 미치는 영향 (The Relationships of Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and Assertiveness Training to Assertiveness Behavior and Conflict Management Mode)

  • Due to the fact that nurses may deal with diverse populations in the work place, it is very important for then to maintain appropriate interpersonal relationships with clients. Nurses should maintain diverse types of relationships appropriately with patients with special needs and their families during crisis, other nursing colleagues and staff on the same team, clients in the school or work place as well as the community. In particular, a hospital is a society with a system and hierarchy, and the importance of interpersonal relationships is much more emphasized. In interpersonal relationships, it is very important for a person to communicate with others in an accurate manner, and when the communication is not achieved appropriately, the person may have troubles and experience distress and conflicts because of the inaccurate communication of thoughts. According to the findings of previous studies, nurses actually experience much distress in the work place because of the miscommunication that they have with others. The purpose of this study was to observe a correlation between Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and assertiveness behavior, and to exam the effects of assertiveness training on the assertiveness behavior and conflict management mode. The subjects of this study included 20 persons in the experimental group and 20 persons the in control group. Myers-Briggs Type Indicator was applied before the study. The assertiveness training group received six, 120 minutes sessions over a 3 week period. Pre-test on assertiveness behavior, Communication Conflict Inventory-General, Role Conflict Inventory- General, Conflict Management Mode was achieved for all the subjects prior to the training. Post-test was administered to all the subjects one week following the last session. The data were analyzed using SPSS PC program to obtain findings on mean. standard distribution, t-test, and Pearson correlation. The results are as follows: (1) Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Introvert/Extrovert was correlated to assertive behavior and avoid- response type conflict management mode. (2) The assertiveness training was correlated to assertiveness behavior, communication conflict degree, and avoid- response type conflict management mode. (3) The post-test scores between the training group and the control group were significantly different in assertiveness behavior and avoid-response type conflict management mode. It is suggested that more studies need to be done to differentiate the effects of Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and assertiveness training on assertiveness behavior and avoid-response type conflict management mode.

  • The purpose of this research was to construct an efficient management system in developing and supplying a 'management standard diagnostic table' for the improvement of chestnut cultivation farmhouse. 'Chestnut management standard diagnostic table' were based from the actual condition of chestnut management in Chungcheongnam-do, selected 'appraisal factor item and by consulting 'agricultural plant standard diagnostic table' and various kinds of data which had already been developed. This research also consulted the classification systems and degree of importance. The developed 'Chestnut management diagnostic table' consisted of 3 first classified items, 19 second classified items and 2 product indicator items.

Carotid duplex ultrasound: interpretations and clinical applications

  • Carotid duplex ultrasound is commonly used to diagnose various carotid artery diseases due to it being noninvasive and easy to perform. Carotid atherosclerosis is a major indicator for the need to perform carotid duplex ultrasound, which can determine the degree of stenosis, plaque characteristics, and intima-media thickness. It can also be used to screen and follow-up after carotid revascularization. Here we discuss the standard techniques, interpretations, and clinical indicators for carotid duplex ultrasounds.

시비방법별 벼 재배에 따른 전과정평가 방법을 적용한 환경영향 평가 (Application of the Life Cycle Assessment Methodology to Rice Cultivation in Relation to Fertilization)

  • Consoli가 설명한 것처럼 전과정평가의 개념 및 일반적인 정의에 따르면, 전과정평가는 농업생산에 관련된 환경영향을 평가하는데 부합하는 방법이라고 생각되며, 특별히 전과정평가방법인 Eco-indicator 95는 농업 체재에 대한 환경영향을 분석하는데 적절한 기법인 것으로 입정되었다. Eco-indicator 95 method를 이용하여 지구온난화 및 수계부영양화와 관련된 시비체계에 따른 벼 재배에 대해 비교할만한 분석체계를 이루었다. 그렇지만 본 연구에서 전과정평가 항목에 기록된 모든 관련 정보가 환경 영향에 고려되지 않았기 때문에 Eco-indicator 95 method를 농업생산 체계에 적용할 때 몇 가지 난제에 부닥친다. Eco-indicator 95 method에 토양 및 자원의 이용과 같은 몇 몇 중요한 환경적인 문제가 포함되지 않았으며, 이 방법의 다른 문제는 환경 평가를 위하여 현장 정밀연구가 수행되지 않았다는 것이다. 그렇지만 본 연구에서 얻어진 생태지표 지수를 이용하여 벼 재배에 따른 시비방법 간의 차이점을 나타내기에 충분하다고 여겨지며, 가장 높은 생태지표 지수를 나타낸 화학비료를 시용한 구에서 가장 큰 환경영향이 관측되었고, 이러한 차이점은 주로 화학비료 투입에 의한 토양중의 높은 인산 함량의 축적 때문인 것으로 여겨진다. 분석한 시비체재는 특별히 지구온난화 보다는 수계의 부영양화의 환경적인 문제에 기여되는 것으로 나타났으므로 질소 시용비율 및 시용기술 이외에 액비 시용에 따른 양분 용탈이 수계 환경에 명확히 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

  • As the deposits of natural sands have slowly been depleted, it has resulted in an increase in manufactured fine aggregate (MFA). Standard specifications for fine aggregate for concrete contained in KS F 2558 permit a maximum of 7 percent finer than the No. 200 sieve (75${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$). Since the production process for MFA normally generates 10 to 20 percent of micro fines-which is defined as aggregates passing the No. 200 sieve (75${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$)-more than permitted by specifications, Excess fines must be removed by screening and/or washing operations. The amount of by-products will continue to grow as production increases with environmental discharge restrictions. This fundamental study focuses on experimental research for the adequacy of use of micro fines included in crushed aggregate using methylene blue test. Total of 63 types of sands from seven different rocks were tested. Based on the test results, the methylene blue test was turned out to be a good indicator of the quality of micro fines for concrete and a supplementary article and an amendment of the KS standard were recommended.

Optimum bracing design under wind load by using topology optimization

  • Seismic and wind load performances of buildings are commonly improved by using bracing systems. In practice, standard bracing systems, such as X, Y, V, and K types are used. To determine the appropriate bracing type, the designer uses trial & error method among the standard bracings to obtain better results. However, using topology optimization yields more efficient bracing systems or new bracing can be developed depending on building and loading types. Determination of optimum bracing type for minimum deformation on a building under the effect of wind load is given in this study. A new bracing system is developed by using topology optimization. Element removal method is used to determine and remove the comparatively inefficient materials. Optimized bracing is compared with proposed bracing types available in the related literature. Maximum deformation value of building is used as performance indicator to compare effectiveness of different bracings to resist wind loads. The proposed bracing, yielded 99%, deformation reduction compared to the unbraced building.
