다문화가정 맞춤형 영양교육 프로그램과 운영시스템 개선을 위한 질적 연구 : 프로그램 제공자 측면 (Qualitative Study on Improvement of Operating System and Tailored Nutrition Education Program for Marriage Immigrants to Korea: Program Providers' Perspective)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to analyze the current status of nutrition education programs for multicultural families and to provide policy suggestions for improvement. Methods: In-depth interviews of a total of 21 multicultural experts were conducted; 15 people were interviewed individually, while 6 people were interviewed in groups of three. Results: In-depth interviews revealed various problems related to the operation of nutrition education programs. The causes of problems were analyzed and categorized as four factors: systemic, practical, environmental and cultural. As for the systematic factors, insufficient linkage between related organizations and duplicate performance of several projects were identified as concerns Establishment of a control tower and strengthening the linkage among the related organizations may be needed to address this concern. With regard to practical factors, the study identified that language barriers, and lack of nutritional education media and tools translated into multicultural languages were limiting factors. These limitations the development of nutrition education materials that aretranslated into multiple languages, implementation of education programs that are different from the Korean education, and by providing interpreters. As for the environmental factors, low educational level and poor nutritional knowledge of multicultural women made it difficult for them to understand the contents of the education. Demonstration, practical training and urgent education on pregnancy and childbirth nutrition were identified as needs to address these concerns. Withregard to cultural factors, food culture conflict with Korean families, and difficulties in home practices were detected as concerns. Participants in the study suggested that getting education with family and facilitation of weekend and nighttime programs health of this community. Conclusions: Further studies are needed to adopt more effective and efficient nutrition intervention to promote the healthy eating of the married immigrant women based on the study results.

Korean Expatriates Adjustments and Job Satisfaction in Malaysia: Analysis of Corporate Cultural Asymmetry

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to discover how Korean expatriates that are currently employed in Korean subsidiaries operational in Malaysia possibly suffer from career dissatisfaction due to differences between Korean Corporate Culture (KCC) and Malaysian Corporate Culture (MCC). The integration of KCC into MCC is discussed. Research design, data, and methodology - The analysis herein is via a qualitative research. Forty-six interviewees voluntarily participated in in-depth interviews. Document analysis and qualitative interviews were utilized to develop participant profiles and to generate the framework. Interview data were transcribed and subsequently analysed to facilitate the development of themes and ultimately led to emerging patterns. The framework discusses the following Confucian pillars pronounced in KCC: Control Systems, Power Structures, Organisational Structures, Authority and Harmony and Stories and Myths. Those pillars are analysed and the results of the interviews are discussed in detail. Results - Korean expatriates on assignment in Malaysia endure struggles in all five selected Confucian pillars as they are not symmetrical with Korean Corporate Culture common at head companies in Korea. Conclusion - As a consequence, there is substantial disharmony which needs to be rectified if Korean companies are to continue their 'miraculous' economic movement into the country.

사회복지조직의 조직성장유형에 관한 탐색적 연구 - 시설운영 사회복지법인을 중심으로 - (Exploring the Growth Process Types of Social Welfare Organizations in Korea - Focusing on Social Welfare Corporations Operating Social Welfare Facilities -)

  • 이 연구는 우리나라 사회복지조직의 조직성장유형을 알아보고 각 조직성장유형의 조직운영방식을 살펴보았다. 본 연구를 위해서 사회복지서비스 제공 역사가 40년 이상된 사회복지법인의 설립자와 동일 법인에서 20년 이상 근무한 관리자가 연구에 참여하였다. 연구자는 연구에 참여한 20명과의 심층인터뷰, 문헌을 통한 정보수집, 결과에 대한 참여자의 확인과 동료연구자와의 협력적 분석을 진행하였다. 자료분석은 근거이론 방법을 활용하여 총 169개의 개념, 49개의 하위범주 그리고 21개의 상위범주가 유목화되었다. 연구결과 우리나라 사회복지조직의 조직성장유형은 '가족애(家族愛) 실천형', '지역사회변화 유도형', '선도(善導)적 선도(先導)형' 등 3가지 유형이 존재하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과는 우리나라 사회복지조직이 가지고 있는 태생적 특성에 대한 심층적 이해, 사회복지조직성장유형의 이론 구축 그리고 사회복지조직운영에 대한 실천적 함의를 제시하고 있다.

뮤지컬 '스테이지 쿼터제' 도입에 관한 정책 제언 -전문가 심층 인터뷰를 중심으로- (Policy Implications for Introduction of Musical Stage Quota -Focused on In-depth Interviews with Experts-)

  • 우리나라 창작 뮤지컬 보호 방안 가운데 하나로 '스테이지 쿼터제' 도입 논의가 활발하다. 심층 인터뷰 결과, 전문가들은 이 제도의 도입에 대부분 찬성했으며, 문화 다양성의 확보가 주된 목적이라고 밝혔다. 제도 찬성론자들이 제안한 모델은 '1000석 이상 국공립 대형극장에 한해 연간 뮤지컬 공연일수의 20~30%선의 할당률을 법률로 정해 창작 뮤지컬이 자생력을 확보할 때까지 한시적으로 적용하는 방안'으로 집약되었다. 반대론자들은 정부의 창작 뮤지컬 진흥책 및 예산 마련을 시급한 대안으로 제시하였다. 연구 결과는 이 제도가 긴요하기 때문에 꼭 실시하되, 집행력이 강한 입법을 통해 제도화해야 한다는 것을 함의한다. 그러나 제시안은 대상, 쿼터 비율, 기한 등에 제한을 두고 있어 정책의 밑그림을 그릴 때 이해관계자들과 충분히 협의해 공연업계의 경영위축과 같은 부작용을 최소화하도록 해야 한다는 점을 암시하고 있다.

영재 선발의 심층면접에서 인성에 대한 현장 교사들의 인식 분석 (A study on the teacher's perception of personality area in the in-depth interview process of the selection of gifted children)

  • 이 연구는 영재 선발의 심층면접 과정에서 주관적일 수 있고 즉각적인 효과가 약해 자칫 외면되기 쉬운 '인성' 영역에 대한 현장 교사들의 인식을 분석하여 그 반영의 개선 방안을 모색하는 데 목적을 두고 있다. 먼저 영재교사로서의 어려움을 묻는 도입 질문에 대해 전문성과 업무량 과다를 많이 답변한 이들은, 영재 선발 시 심층면접에서 다룰 가장 중요한 영역으로 인성을 꼽았다. 또한 교육의 가장 기본 덕목이자 사회적 공헌을 위해 인성면접은 꼭 필요하다고 인식했으며, 인성면접에서 다룰 하위 요소로는 협동, 배려, 양보의 순으로 꼽았다. 교사관찰추천제의 심층면접에서 사실상 학생 개개인의 역량을 다각도로 평가하고 있는지를 점검하고, 특히 간과되고 있는 인성 영역의 평가가 타당성을 지닌 문항 개발과 캠프나 토론 토의 등의 깊이 있는 관찰로 보완될 필요성을 또한 살폈다. 이러한 현장의 목소리를 반영하여 교사관찰추천제의 보다 세밀하고도 정교한 진행을 위해 심층면접을, 그중에서도 인성면접을 보완해야 할 것이다. 더불어 이미 선발된 영재들의 인성교육과, 탁월한 영재이지만 인성이 부족한 학생의 경우는 어떻게 지도할 지에 대한 고민도 함께 지속적으로 연구하고 시행할 필요성이 부각된다.

HR Practices of IT-Based Companies in Korea

  • The research question in this study was to see whether there were similarities and differences in HR practices of IT-based companies in Korea. Interviews with 12 HR executives and a survey of 51 IT-based companies showed that there were IT industry-specific HR practices, but no group differences except one. The only one difference between two groups (small- and medium-sized firms versus multinational corporations) indicated that the latter was better positioned in various HR practices. Four HR themes emerged from analyses of interviews and a survey data: business environment, workforce management, HR practices, and HR for competitive advantage. The fact that none from large companies was found to have female HR executive calls for an in-depth study of what is occurring and what could be done to better the workplace in terms of diversity. A large-scale study using diverse methods in the future will produce more meaningful findings on HR practices in IT-based firms in Korea.

응급실 간호사의 일상에 대한 문화기술지 (An Ethnography on Daily Lives of Nurses in Emergency Departments)

  • Purpose: This ethnographic study was conducted to explore and understand the meaning of the daily life of nurses in emergency departments. Objectives for this study were to identify and describe the true nature of emergency room nurses' daily experience and create a theoretical model based on the findings. Methods: Data were collected through in-depth interviews and participants observation. These data were recorded and transcribed verbatim with consent of the informants, 10 nurses who had cared for patients in emergency rooms. Data were collected between November 2013 and October 2014. Interviews continued until no new information could be identified from transcripts. Data were analyzed using the taxonomic analysis method developed by Spradley. Results: Based on the data acquired from interviews, nurses' cultural domains were classified as 'extensity of emergency room nurses', 'temporality of emergency room nurses', 'relationships among emergency room nurses' and 'becoming an emergency room nurses'. Conclusion: The daily culture of emergency room nurses could be summarized as 'busy daily life amidst confusion'. However, many nurses boosted their self-esteem by taking care of patients' collaboration with fellow nurses. In other words, nurses in emergency room forms a dynamic culture and pursue professionalism, rather than a simple chaotic daily life culture.

간호사의 연명치료중단아동 돌봄경험 (Withdrawal of Life-Sustaining Treatment from Children: Experiences of Nurses Caring for the Children)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe feelings and actions of nurses following withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment from children being cared for by the nurses. Methods: Data were collected by in-depth interviews with 7 nurses from different hospitals where children receiving nursing care had life-sustaining treatment withdrawn. The interviews were conducted from August 2016 to February 2017 when all data were saturated. Interviews lasted 30~90 minutes and were conducted 2~3 times per participant. Data were analyzed using Giorgi's phenomenological research methodology. Results: The following factors constituted experiences of nurses working in pediatric wards when life-sustaining treatment was withdrawn from children: "agony and conflict in the aspects of care", "heavy mind and regret for exhausting care", "intentionally avoiding parents' sadness", "comforting sadness in the heart" and "orientation in the role of caring for children undergoing withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment." Conclusion: Findings indicate that support systems and intervention programs need to be developed so that nurses can understand and wisely deal with experiences of withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment from children who receive care from nurses.

근거이론에 기초한 플러스 사이즈 여성 소비자의 의류를 중심으로 한 외모관리에 관한 탐색적 연구 (Plus-size Women and Appearance Management with a Focus on Clothing -Grounded Theory Based Exploratory Study-)

  • This study explores various issues of appearance management behavior for plus-size women in Korea with a focus on clothing. In-depth interviews and focused group interviews were conducted with 24 plus-size women. The interviews were recorded and the transcripts were analyzed based on grounded theory. Discomfort was the main phenomenon involving the experience of plus-size women related to appearance management. Psychological as well as physiological/physical discomfort, unmet needs (regarding clothing) and inconvenient shopping experiences were frequently mentioned. Causal conditions for discomfort were obesity, social stigma, and an underdeveloped clothing market for plus-size consumers. Interviewees developed strategies to cope with discomfort (suppressing clothing need, loss of interest in clothing, diversion from clothing needs, sole focus on physical comfort, dress-up and increase in shopping channels, and change in shopping patterns) that depended on contextual conditions (such as duration of obesity and attitudes of people) close to the interviewees. The discomfort of interviewees decreased or continued depending on if they became ambivalent about their obese condition, lost weight, or utilized plus-size specialty stores.

여성 한부모가족의 모-자녀관계 (Mother-Child Relationship in Female-headed Single Parent Families)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the difficulties, conflicts, and communications between female-headed single parents and their children, their child rearing methods and attitude, and the political suggestions for the welfare in those families. The in-depth interviews were conducted for 7 women in Gyonggi-Do and Chungnam-Do on March 3-27, 2003. The interviewees were selected for the mothers whose children were enrolled either elementary schools or middle schools. The contents of interviews were receded to be analyzed by qualitative method. The results were as follows; first, female-headed single parent families were in low economic status with unstable employment condition. Secondly, women in that families were confronted with psychological problems because of their multiple roles and low income. Third, although they had a controlled child rearing method, they used much reinforcement and praise. Thirdly, they were in need of the aids for the basic life such as housings and their children's private institute expenses. Finally, they required the repealing of an existing birthright system.
