  • This paper presents a disk-type capacitive sensor for simultaneous measurement of five-dimensional motions of a target. The sensor can be manufactured with a printed circuit board (PCB) such that the sensor can be integrated with its electronics in a single PCB board, whereby the manufacturing costs is considerably reduced. The sensor is optimally designed through an error analysis of possible mechanical errors. Furthermore, the sensor can correct the horizontal motion measurement errors due to the sensor installation tilting error. A proto-type PCB sensor, electronics and a test rig were built, and the effectiveness of the developed sensor was proved through experiments.

A study for improvement of engine bearing reliability based on temperature analysis (엔진 CON-ROD베어링 내 SCUFFING성 향상에 관한 연구)

  • Crank pin temperatures were measured and analyzed to find out practical method which can predict the engine bearing reliability. The measuring points were determined to be near the MOFT region and far from that by theoretical calculation. The effect of engine running condition, oil temperature, the change of oil circuit into bearing and crankshaft endplay on crank pin temperature were experimentally tested. The result obtained was as following. The crank pin temperature was dependent on oil film thickness and directly influenced by the change of test condition. Also, the length of the crankshaft endplay was confirmed to be critical to connecting rod bearing failure. In conclusion, we found that the measurement method of crank pin temperature can be used for predicting the engine bearing reliability.

  • There is needed the triple pyroelectric Infrared flame detector to really recognize problem, for the prevention and early suppression of fire. This system recognizes the characteristics of fire sources in various type and is communicated the message to the operators. Therefore, the prevention and early suppression of fire is available. Especially this paper focuss on development of the self diagnosis type flame detector for preventing malfunction comparing of basic and detected values.

  • A high speed address recovery technique for AC plasma display Panel(PDP) is proposed. By removing the GND switching operation, the recovery speed can be increased and switching loss due to GND switch also becomes to be reduced. The proposed method is able to perform load-adaptive operation by controlling the voltage level of energy recovery capacitor, which prevents increasing inefficient power consumption caused by circuit loss during recovery operation. Thus, the technique shows the minimum address power consumption according to various displayed images, different from Prior methods operating in fixed mode regardless of images. Test results with 50" HD single-scan PDP(resolution = 1366$\times$768) show that less than 350ns of recovery time is successfully accomplished and about 54% of the maximum power consumption can be reduced, tracing minimum power consumption curves.

  • Safety from derailment has been evaluated according to the magnitude of the derailment coefficient, which does not always ensure sufficient safety evaluation, and is not necessarily helpful in clarifying the mechanism of derailment. When wheel rolls, point of contact between wheel and rail was change continuously and flange touches with rail. Established gauge so that can measure location of contact point between wheel and rail by strain gauge. Also, wish to describe result that compose bridge circuit and execute load test.

  • Optical conditions of a reflective multicolor STM-LCD based on the electrical control of birefrignece are analyzed on the CIE chromaticity diagram. The luminance and the area of the locus on the cIE chromaticity diagram are the two factors to be considered in the design of an LC cell to display white, red, green, and blue. The characteristics of a test cell agrees well with numerical simulation. A completed 320$\times$240 module is addressed by a designed PWM driving circuit.

  • This study presents methodology and tools for remote measurement of the orientation of the rock parting surfaces. Two close circuit video camera capture the pictures of a rock excavation surface while a laser beam scans the surface. Positions of the laser beams in the two digital images are recognized by image processing. Using the stereoscopic concept, three dimensional coordinations of the rock surface and the orientation of the rock parting planes are calculated. Point, cross and line type laser beams are tested for better image processing results and measurement accuracy of the coordinates. According to a simple accuracy test, cross beam show better results than the point beam. However, line beam show more promising results for the measurement of the rock parting surfaces.

  • The corona interference of extra high voltage (EHV) transmission lines has to be considered as an important design factor for establishing an electrical environmental countermeasure at a basic line design stage. This paper describes the conductor selection procedure through both corona performance test result in corona cage and its evaluation by the design criterion. It is known that three conductor configurations including $6{\times}810mm^2$ (spacing: 40 cm) are the suitable conductor bundle for the environmental preservation around both 2-circuits and 1-circuit T/L.

  • This paper is to develop the sensing system for opening-force measurement such as O-Ring muscular meridian. We designed to overcome the functional limit that the conventional force-sensor can measure just the closing-force. Therefore, the new sensor can meet a variety of application as well as O-Ring test. The structure of the new sensor is an actuator-type system using an electromagnet. That is made up of mechanical system, electromagnet, current transformer and computer interface circuit. Driving software and user interface program of the new sensor system also is explained in this paper.

  • This paper proposes fault detection method using a neural network & fuzzy logic on distribution lines. Fault on distribution lines is simulated using EMTP. The pattern of high impedance fault on pebbles, ground and short-circuit fault were take as the learning model. In this paper proposed fault detection method is evaluated on various conditions. The average values after analyzing fault current by FFT of even odd harmonics and fundamental rms were used for the neural network input. Test results were verified the validity of the proposed method
