  • Embedded systems widely used for wireless communication such as W-LAN, Bluetooth and ZigBee operate on ISM (Industrial, Scientific and Medical) band but they can be seriously affected by electromagnetic interference radiated from ISM apparatus. Therefore C.I.S.P.R. reports proposed limits for the protection of telecommunication from interference from ISM equipment. In this paper, we clarify the methods for calculating limits for disturbance signal for Embedded Systems in ISM band and propose simple way of calculating limits for interference signal in both above and below 1 GHz band cases.

  • We treat the problem of channel estimation and interference cancellation in multiuser ultra-wide-band (UWB) communication systems over multipath fading channels. The UWB system under consideration employs a random time-hopping impulse radio format. We develop a channel estimation method based on linear weighted algorithm. An iterative channel estimation and interference cancellation scheme is proposed to successively improve the receiver performance. We also consider systems employing multiple transmit and/or receive antennas. For systems with multiple receive antennas, we develop a diversity receiver for the wellseparated antennas. For systems with multiple transmit antennas, we propose to make use of Alamouti’s space-time transmission scheme, and develop the corresponding channel estimation and interference cancellation receiver techniques. Simulation results are provided to demonstrate the performance of various UWB receiver techniques developed in this paper.

  • To make normal operation of S-Band PSR(Primary Surveillance Radar) which are in operation near distance, Minimizing the mutual frequency interference was studied in this paper. First, the phenomenon of radar receiver was analyzed when the interference between PSR was occurred. And next, the proper S-Band Bandpass filter(BPF) was chosen to deal with the interference. And inhibition performance of BPF was verified by comparative analysis of Radar's RF reception characteristic before and after of BPF application. There is 6.4~7.7 dB passband attenuation when BPF was applied at Radar receiver. So the PSR probability of detection were compared and analyzed to check the radar detection performance was deteriorated or not, And this result proved the usefulness of this study.

  • Traditionally, in multi-user multi-carrier systems, the neighboring subband will be gapped by one subcarrier, which is set as guard band to reduce multiple access interference (MAI) between neighboring subbands. The empty subcarrier for guard band will degrade the spectral efficiency of the whole system. In order to enhance the spectral efficiency of multi-user filter bank multiple carrier (FBMC) systems, a new subband allocation method is introduced, in which the neighboring subband is gapped by half subcarrier instead of one subcarrier. Meanwhile, in order to implement the proposed resource allocation scheme, an optimized FBMC prototype filter is designed to decrease the inter-subband interference to the neighboring subband. The detailed simulations about the comparison between the proposed spectrum assignment and traditional FBMC are given, as well as the performance in the different interference scenarios. The simulation results show that the combination of the proposed spectrum assignment scheme and the optimized filter has better performance compared to the traditional scheme. The proposed scheme can be used in the system which serves massive users to get higher spectrum efficiency.

  • There is a new evolution in technological advancement taking place called the Internet of Things (IoT), The IoT enables physical world objects in our surrounding to be connected to the Internet. ISM (Industrial Scientific Medical) band that is 2.4GHz band authorized free of charge is being widely used for smart devices. Accordingly studies have been continuously conducted on the possibility of coexistence among nodes using ISM band. In particular, the interference of IEEE 802.11b based Wi-Fi devices using overlapping channel during communication among IEEE 802.15.4 based wireless sensor nodes suitable for low-power, low-speed communication using ISM band. Because serious network performance deterioration of wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we will propose an algorithm that identifies the possibility of using more accurate channels by mixing utilization of interference signal and RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) Min/Max/Activity of Interference signal by wireless sensor nodes. In addition, it will verify our algorithm by using OPNET Network verification simulator.

  • Currently, the three major Korean mobile operators hold a total of 390MHz of bandwidth, but at the current data traffic increase of almost 6 times per year, more frequency bandwidth should be secured in order to meet the exploding data traffic in the future. It is believed that 2.1GHz frequency band is suitable for mobile communication in the light of frequency characteristics and continuity of the band. In this paper, we perform compliance analysis with the international radio regulation for coexistence with the adjacent region in order to use 2.1GHz band for LTE-Advanced. In addition, we verify that 2.1GHz band can coexist with the adjacent band by conducting an interference evaluation.

  • Cognitive radio (CR) users, known as secondary users (SUs), should avoid interference with primary users (PUs) who own the licensed band, while trying to access it; when the licensed band is unused by the PUs. To detect PUs, spectrum sensing should be performed over in-band channels that are currently in use by SUs. If PUs return to access the band, SUs need to vacate it, disrupting the SUs' communication unless a non-utilized band is discovered. Obtaining a non-utilized band in a short period facilitate seamless communication for SUs and avoid interference on PUs by vacating from the channel immediately. Searching for a non-utilized band can be done through proactive out-of-band (OB) sensing. In this paper, we suggest a proactive OB sensing scheme that minimizes the time required to discover a non-utilized spectrum in order to continue communication. Although, the duration spent on OB sensing reduces the throughput of the CR networks that can be achieved on band being utilized, the lost throughput can be compensated in the new discovered band. We demonstrate that, the effect of our proposed scheme on the throughput owing to OB sensing is insignificant, while exhibiting a very short channel discovery time.

  • In this paper, we design SSD(simultaneous single band duplex) system using RF(radio frequency) cancellation and digital cancellation. we analyze characteristic of residual self-interference after RF Cancellation signal when error of phase shifter occur in RF cancellation. When phase shifter error of $0^{\circ}$, $0.5^{\circ}$, $1^{\circ}$ and $2^{\circ}$ occur in RF cancellation, residual self-interference signal power after RF cancellation is bigger than desired signal power of distant station. So, it is impossible to receive transmit data of distant station. but we confirm that it is possible to receive transmit data of distant station by digital cancellation with frame structure. Also, in digital cancellation with frame structure, if residual self-interference signal after RF cancellation is too large then LMS algorithm requires more time to estimate self-interference channel. That is, performance degradation occurs because self-interference channel estimation has not completed in estimation frame.

  • Radio systems decline in the system performances when one system is interfered from the other system. System parameters, which are operating frequency, transmit power, and so on, need to be determined in order that there is no interference between radio systems. We investigate the interference from the sound broadcasting service in the band 87.5-108 MHz to the ILS localizer, one of the aeronautical services, in the band of 108-112 MHz. The results are compared with the interference criteria. And then several system parameters, which are frequency, transmit power, and location, are determined in order to avoid the interference from the FM sound broadcasting service which occupies the frequency band near the band of the aeronautical services. The results of this paper can be applied to set up system parameters of the ILS localizer so that system performance can be maximized. Besides, the result of this paper can be applied for determining spectrum management policy.
