Implementation of Fuzzy Controller for MFC (MFC의 퍼지제어기 구현)

  • The Mass Flow Controller(MFC) has become crucial in semiconductor manufacturing equipments. It is an important element because the quality and the yield of a semiconductor process are decided by the accurate flow control of gas. Therefore, the demand for implementing the high speed and the highly accurate control of MFCs has been increasing. It is hard to find an article of the control algorithm applied to MFCs. But, it is known that commercially available MFCs adopt PID control algorithms. Particularly, when the system detects the flow by way of heat transfer, the MFC control problem includes the slow response and the nonlinearity. In this paper, MFC control algorithm with a superior performance to the conventional PID algorithm is discussed and the superiority is demonstrated through the experiment. A fuzzy controller was utilized in order to compensate the nonlinearity and the slow response, and the performance is compared with that of an MFC currently available in the market. The control system, in this paper, consists of a personal computer, the data acquisition board and the control algorithm carried out by LabWindows/CVI program on the PC. In addition, a method of estimating the actual flow from the sensor output with the slow response is presented. In conclusion, according to the result of the experiment, the proposed algorithm shows better accuracy and is faster than the conventional controller.

Real-time Implementation of Variable Transmission Bit Rate Vocoder Integrating G.729A Vocoder and Reduction of the Computational Amount SOLA-B Algorithm Using the TMS320C5416 (TMS320C5416을 이용한 G.729A 보코더와 계산량 감소된 SOLA-B 알고리즘을 통합한 가변 전송율 보코더의 실시간 구현)

  • In this paper, we real-time implemented to the TMS320C5416 the vocoder of variable bit rate applied the SOLA-B algorithm by Henja to the ITU-T G.729A vocoder of 8kbps transmission rate. This proposed method using the SOLA-B algorithm is that it is reduced the duration of the speech in encoding and is played at the speed of normal by extending the duration of the speech in decoding. At this time, we bandied that the interval of cross correlation function if skipped every 3 sample for decreasing the computational amount of SOLA-B algorithm. The real-time implemented vocoder of C.729A and SOLA-B algorithm is represented the complexity of maximum that is 10.2MIPS in encoder and 2.8MIPS in decoder of 8kbps transmission rate. Also, it is represented the complexity of maximum that is 18.5MIPS in encoder and 13.1MIPS in decoder of 6kbps, it is 18.5MIPS in encoder and 13.1MIPS in decoder of 4kbps. The used memory is about program ROM 9.7kwords, table ROM 4.5kwords, RAM 5.1 kwords. The waveform of output is showed by the result of C simulator and Bit Exact. Also, for evaluation of speech quality of the vocoder of real-time implemented variable bit rate, it is estimated the MOS score of 3.69 in 4kbps.

Design and Implementation of the Stop line and Crosswalk Recognition Algorithm for Autonomous UGV (자율 주행 UGV를 위한 정지선과 횡단보도 인식 알고리즘 설계 및 구현)

  • In spite of that stop line and crosswalk should be aware of the most basic objects in transportation system, its features extracted are very limited. In addition to image-based recognition technology, laser and RF, GPS/INS recognition technology, it is difficult to recognize. For this reason, the limited research in this area has been done. In this paper, the algorithm to recognize the stop line and crosswalk is designed and implemented using image-based recognition technology with the images input through a vision sensor. This algorithm consists of three functions.; One is to select the area, in advance, needed for feature extraction in order to speed up the data processing, 'Region of Interest', another is to process the images only that white color is detected more than a certain proportion in order to remove the unnecessary operation, 'Color Pattern Inspection', the other is 'Feature Extraction and Recognition', which is to extract the edge features and compare this to the previously-modeled one to identify the stop line and crosswalk. For this, especially by using case based feature comparison algorithm, it can identify either both stop line and crosswalk exist or just one exists. Also the proposed algorithm is to develop existing researches by comparing and analysing effect of in-vehicle camera installation and changes in recognition rate of distance estimation and various constraints such as backlight and shadow.

An Implementation of Acoustic Echo Canceller Using Adaptive Filtering in Modulated Lapped Transform Domain (Modulated Lapped Transform 영역에서 적응 필터링을 이용한 음향 반향 제거기의 구현)

  • Acoustic Echo Canceller (AEC) is a signal processing system for removing unwanted echo signals in teleconference and hands-free communication. Least mean square (LMS) algorithm is one of the adaptive echo cancellation algorithms and it has been most attractive because of its simplicity and robustness. However, the convergence properties of the LMS algorithm degrade with highly correlated input signals such as speech. For this reason, transform-domain adaptive filtering algorithm was introduced to decorrelate the colored input samples by using the orthogonal transform matrix such as DCT, DFT and then LMS adaptive filtering process is applied. In this paper, we propose a MLT domain adaptive echo canceller base on the MLT (Modulated lapped Transform) orthogonal transform matrix. The proposed algorithm achieves high decorrelation efficiency and fast convergence speed via modulated lapped transform of size 2NXN instead of NXN unitary transform such as DCT, DFT, Hadamad and it is applied to the acoustical echo cancellation system. Form the computer simulation with both synthesis and real speech, the proposed MLT domain adaptive echo canceller shows approximately twice faster convergence speed and 20∼30 ㏈ ERLE improvements over the DCT frequency domain acoustic echo cancellation system.

Design and Implementation of Luo-kuan Recognition Application (낙관 인식을 위한 애플리케이션의 설계 및 구현)

  • In oriental paintings, there is Luo-kuan that expressed in a single picture by compressing the artist's information. Such Luo-kuan includes various information such as the title of the work or the name of the artist. Therefore, information about Luo-kuan is considered important to those who collect or enjoy oriental paintings. However, most of the letters in the Luo-kuan are difficult kanji, kanzai, or various shapes, so it is difficult for the ordinary people to interpret. In this paper, we developed an Luo-kuan search application to easily check the information of the Luo-kuan. The application uses a search algorithm that analyzes the captured Luo-kuan image and sends it to the server to output information about the Luo-kuan candidates that are most similar to the Luo-kuan images taken from the database in the server. We also compared and analyzed the accuracy of the algorithm based on 170 Luo-kuan data in order to find out the ranking of the Luo-kuan that matched the Luo-kuan among the candidates. Accuracy Analysis Experimental Results The accuracy of the search algorithm of this application is confirmed to be about 90%, and it is anticipated that it will be possible to develop a platform to automatically analyze and search images in a big data environment by supplementing the optimizing algorithm and multi-threading algorithm.

Performance Comparison of Taylor Series Approximation and CORDIC Algorithm for an Open-Loop Polar Transmitter (Open-Loop Polar Transmitter에 적용 가능한 테일러 급수 근사식과 CORDIC 기법 성능 비교 및 평가)

  • A digital phase wrapping modulation (DPM) open-loop polar transmitter can be efficiently applied to a wideband orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) communication system by converting in-phase and quadrature signals to envelope and phase signals and then employing the signal mapping process. This mapping process is very similar to quantization in a general communication system, and when taking into account the error that appears during mapping process, one can replace the coordinates rotation digital computer (CORDIC) algorithm in the coordinate conversion part with the Taylor series approximation method. In this paper, we investigate the application of the Taylor series approximation to the cartesian to polar coordinate conversion part of a DPM polar transmitter for wideband OFDM systems. The conventional approach relies on the CORDIC algorithm. To achieve efficient application, we perform computer simulation to measure mean square error (MSE) of the both approaches and find the minimum approximation order for the Taylor series approximation compatible to allowable error of the CORDIC algorithm in terms of hardware design. Furthermore, comparing the processing speeds of the both approaches in the implementation with FPGA reveals that the Taylor series approximation with lower order improves the processing speed in the coordinate conversion part.

Fast Stream Cipher AA32 for Software Implementation (소프트웨어 구현에 적합한 고속 스트림 암호 AA32)

  • Stream cipher was worse than block cipher in terms of security, but faster in execution speed as an advantage. However, since so far there have been many algorithm researches about the execution speed of block cipher, these days, there is almost no difference between them in the execution speed of AES. Therefore an secure and fast stream cipher development is urgently needed. In this paper, we propose a 32bit output fast stream cipher, AA32, which is composed of ASR(Arithmetic Shifter Register) and simple logical operation. Proposed algorithm is a cipher algorithm which has been designed to be implemented by software easily. AA32 supports 128bit key and executes operations by word and byte unit. As Linear Feedback Sequencer, ASR 151bit is applied to AA32 and the reduction function is a very simple structure stream cipher, which consists of two major parts, using simple logical operations, instead of S-Box for a non-linear operation. The proposed stream cipher AA32 shows the result that it is faster than SSC2 and Salsa20 and satisfied with the security required for these days. Proposed cipher algorithm is a fast stream cipher algorithm which can be used in the field which requires wireless internet environment such as mobile phone system and real-time processing such as DRM(Digital Right Management) and limited computational environments such as WSN(Wireless Sensor Network).

Implementation of Multiple Nonlinearities Control for Stable Walking of a Humanoid Robot (휴머노이드 로봇의 안정적 보행을 위한 다중 비선형 제어기 구현)

  • This paper is concerned with the control of multiple nonlinearities included in a humanoid robot system. A humanoid robot has some problems such as the structural instability, which leads to consider the control of multiple nonlinearities caused by driver parts as well as gear reducer. Saturation and backlash are typical examples of nonlinearities in the system. The conventional algorithms of backlash control were fuzzy algorithm, disturbance observer and neural network, etc. However, it is not easy to control the system by employing only single algorithm since the system usually includes multiple nonlinearities. In this paper, a switching Pill is considered for a control of saturation and a dual feedback algorithm is proposed for a backlash control. To implement the above algorithms, the system identification is firstly performed for the minimization of the difference between the results of simulation and experiment, and then the switching Pill gains are determined using genetic algorithm with some heuristic approach. The performance of the switching Pill controller for saturation and the dual feedback for backlash control is investigated through the simulation. Finally, it is shown that the implemented control system has good results and can be applied to the real humanoid robot system ISHURO.

Implementation of Improved Frame Slotted ALOHA Algorithm for Fast Tag Collection in an Active RFID System (고속 태그 수집을 위한 개선된 능동형 RFID 시스템용 프레임 Slotted ALOHA 알고리즘 구현)

  • In this paper, we suggest a modified slotted ALOHA algorithm for fast tag collection in active RFID system and implement the reader and tag operation using CC2530 chip of Texas Instruments Co. to prove the performance of the proposed algorithm. In the present international standard related with active RFID including ISO/IEC 18000-7 the reader sends sleep command to each tag after successful obtaining tag's information. Meanwhile, in this paper, the tags decide to sleep after checking the second command from the reader resulting in enormously decreased tag collection time. We tested the proposed algorithm with 30 tags over the range of 0-3m and the results showed that the tag collection process was completed in 400msec at average. And 30 tags are collected in one second with 99.7% and the collection rate is 100% in 2m distance between reader and tag. The collection rates are 99.94% and 99.7% for distance 2.5m and 3m, respectively. The average collection rate is 99.91% over all range and it is concluded that the proposed algorithm is enough to apply to real fields.

Implementation of Non-Stringed Guitar Based on Physical Modeling Synthesis (물리적 모델링 합성법에 기반을 둔 줄 없는 기타 구현)

  • This paper describes the non-stringed guitar composed of laser strings, frets, sound synthesis algorithm and a processor. The laser strings that can depict stroke and playing arpeggios comprise laser modules and photo diodes. Frets are implemented by voltage divider. The guitar body does not need to implement physically because commuted waveguide synthesis is used. The proposed frets enable; players to represent all of chords by the chord glove as well as guitar solo. Sliding, hammering-on and pulling-off sounds are synthesized by using parameters from the voltage divider. Because the pitch shifting corresponds to the time-varying propagation speed in the digital waveguide model, the proposed model can synthesize vibrato as well. After transformation of signals from the laser strings and frets into parameters for synthesis algorithm, the digital signal processor, TMS320F2812, performs the real-time synthesis algorithm and communicates with the DAC. The demonstration movieclip available via the Internet shows one to play a song, 'Arirang', synthesized by proposed algorithm and interfaces in real-time. Consequently, we can conclude that the proposed synthesis algorithm is efficient in guitar solo and there is no problem to play the non-stringed guitar in real-time.
