  • In this study, characteristics of LPB having gold anode fabricated by sputtering methode were analyzed. As results, The 1st efficiency and the impedance characteristics of LPB decreased with increased gold coated on anode and current collector. But the rate characteristics and charge-discharge cycling characteristics increased with increased gold coated on anode and current collector. During 2C discharge of the rate characteristics test, the rate characteristics of LPB without gold coated and the rate characteristics of LPB with gold coated in twice were 159mAh/g and 189mAh/g, respectively. The discharge capacity was gradually degreased with the discharge cycling to about 20th cycles. But LPB with gold coated in twice was stabilized than LPB without gold coated.

  • Composite cathodes of $50/50\;vol\%$ LSM-YSZ $(La_{-x}Sr_xMnO_3-yttria\;stabilized\;zirconia)$ were deposited onto dense YSZ electrolytes by colloidal deposition technique. The cathode characteristics were then examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and studied by ac-impedance spectroscopy (IS). The conditioning effects on LSM-YSZ cathodes were seen and remedies for these effects were noted in order to improve the performance of a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC). The effects of temperature on impedance, surface contamination on cathode bonding to YSZ electrolyte, changing Pt paste, aerosol spray technique applied to curved surface on microstructure and cell to cell variability were solved by testing at $900^{\circ}C$, sanding the YSZ surface, using only one batch of Pt paste, using flat YSZ plates and using consistent procedures and techniques, respectively. And then, reproducible impedance spectra were confirmed by using the improved cell and the typical spectra measured for an (air)LSM-YSZ/YSZ/LSM-YSZ(air) cell at $900^{\circ}C$ were composed of two depressed arcs. Impedance characteristics of the LSM-YSZ cathodes were also affected by experimental conditions such as catalytic interlayer, composite cathode compositions and applied current.

  • This paper describe a method for measuring line impedance as a function of frequency for an energized powerline in normal operation. A small sinusoidal signal of a powerline communication utility frequency $30khz\~1Mhz$ band is continuously injected into the line, and a implemented impedance analyzer calculates the indoor powerline channel impedance from the measured magnitude and phase of resulting voltage and current. The impedance measurement is executed over a range of frequencies to produce a wideband impedance versus frequency characteristic. Implemented impedance analyzer can analysis powerline communication environments measuring line impedance due to load caused in indoor. And measured analysis information through the database can use to evaluate performance of modem and to decide test environment standard.

  • The occurrence of the ventricular fibrillation is directly dependent on the magnitude and duration of the current. The current which flows through the human body is proportional to the touch voltage applied across the body and is in inverse proportion to the impedances in the circuit. The circuit impedances consist of human body impedance, line impedance, equipment impedance, earth terminal impedance and impedance of shoes which a person put on. The impedance of shoes greatly affect the severity of the electric accidents. The human body impedances relevant to the contact areas, contact conditions, current paths and touch voltages are already determined in the IEC 60479-1. However, the impedance of shoes is ignored or substituted by a simple value because of the absence of the sufficient data. For example, the impedance of shoes plus ground contact resistance is postulated to be $1,000{\Omega}$ in the IEC 61200-612. In IEEE 80, the shoe resistance plus ground contact resistance is assumed to be bare foot with ${\rho}/4b{\Omega}$. In this paper, we measured and analyzed the impedance of shoes with respect to conditions such as applied weight, environment variables and voltages. The results showed that the impedance of shoes is dependent on environment variables regardless of the types of shoes. Most of shoes showed the correlation with the applied force, whereas a few shoes showed characteristics related to the applied voltage. In terms of severity of electric shock, one thirds of test samples indicated to be dangerous in saltwater conditions.

  • In this study, we measured the bioelectrical impedance of whole body in various frequency bands by non-invasive method by four electrode method using a portable small impedance measurement system developed to understand the bioimpedance characteristics of intracellular fluid and extracellular fluid components through a skin equivalent model. The measurements were performed on 10 male subjects (mean age $24{\pm}3.0$, body mass index(BMI) $20.3kg/m^2$) for four weeks and the bioimpedances were measured at multi-frequencies (1 kHz, 5 kHz, 50 kHz, 70 kHz, 100 kHz and 500 kHz). Experimental results show that the impedance is the highest in the low frequency range of 1 kHz and the lowest in the high frequency range of 500 MHz. Especially, it was confirmed through experiments that the impedance is rapidly lowered above 50 kHz band. In addition, it was confirmed that similar characteristics to the measured values of the bioimpedance measuring system were obtained in the simulations for understanding the impedance characteristics of the intracellular fluid and the extracellular fluid through the skin equivalent circuit model.

  • The surge impedance of grounding systems must be accurately computed for a safe grounding design. Specifically, the case of radio relay station in a mountaintop region is required special design method using transient analyses. To approach these design objectives, this paper presents an algorithm to compute the surge impedance of two or more grounding systems using the Laplace Transform technique and deals with the analysis of the transient characteristics on grounding systems. Also, simulation results are compared with the measured data to prove the validity of the algorithm.

  • A pyrotechnic system that consists of donor/acceptor pair separated by a gap relies on shock attenuation characteristics of the gap material and shock sensitivity of the donor and acceptor charges. We apply a level-set based multimaterial hydrocode with reactive flow models for pentolite donor and heavily aluminized RDX as acceptor charge. The complex shock interaction, critical gap thickness, acoustic impedance, and go/no-go characteristics of the pyrotechnic system are quantitatively investigated.

  • The transient characteristics of grounding systems are very important in the insulation design of electrical installations and depend on the shape and size of electrodes, soil resistivity and the magnitude and wave of the injection current. This paper establishes an algorithm to compute the surge impedance of two or more grounding systems using the Laplace Transformation technique and deals with the analysis of the transient characteristics on grounding systems.

  • A thin-film transmission line (TFTL) employing a microstrip line/coplanar waveguide (ML/CPW) was fabricated on a silicon substrate for application to a miniaturized on-chip RF component, and the RF characteristics of the device with the proposed structure were investigated. The TFTL employing a ML/CPW composite structure exhibited a shorter wavelength than that of a conventional coplanar waveguide and that of a thin-film microstrip line. When the TFTL with the proposed structure was fabricated to have a length of ${\lambda}/8$, it showed a loss of less than 1.12 dB at up to 30 GHz. The improvement in the periodic capacitance of the TFTL caused for the propagation constant, ${\beta}$, and the effective permittivity, ${\varepsilon}_{eff}$, to have values higher than those of a device with only a conventional coplanar waveguide and a thin film microstrip line. The TFTL with the proposed structure showed a ${\beta}$ of 0.53~2.96 rad/mm and an ${\varepsilon}_{eff}$ of 22.3~25.3 when operating from 5 to 30 GHz. A highly miniaturized impedance transformer was fabricated on a silicon substrate using the proposed TFTL for application to a low-impedance transformation for broadband. The size of the impedance transformer was 0.01 mm2, which is only 1.04% of the size of a transformer fabricated using a conventional coplanar waveguide on a silicon substrate. The impedance transformer showed excellent RF performance for broadband.
