  • The capability to provide the network service must survive even if a significant network system element is disrupted. To sustain the network service under the system failure, network survivability mechanisms minimizing the impact of failures are needed. Also, since the mobile network has its unique characteristic, the survivability scheme for the vulnerability of the mobile network is required. This paper proposes a survivability scheme to support the reliable service of the wireless access point level (BS-base station system). By the survivability scheme, the mobile network can use an overlap BS of the cellular network architecture after a BS system failure. We analyze the performance of the proposed scheme using Markov model. Also, a computer simulation is used for the scheme analysis. The proposed scheme shows that the service of the mobile network can be provided under the BS system failure.

  • In track a third weakness point is joint part, turnout part, curve part. One of them joint part of rail have been known to the most weak point by loosen of joint bar and fish bolt due to impulse and vibration by wheel contact at times. In addition happen to deformation and failure at end of rail, failure and miniature of ballast gravel. Finally impact between wheel and rail become origin cause of a welded rail, noise and vibration. riding condition deterioration, besides track failure. In the present domestic, Thermite and Gas pressure weldings have been used to continuous welded rail(CWR), however stiffness and confidence in quality is lower than Flash butt welding method. FRW have the excellent capacity, however have a shortcoming large scale of machine and power equipment. Therefore we will introduce Mobile Flash Butt Welder can weld in track.

  • The tensile strength of unidirectional carbon fiber reinforced plastics under a high strain rate was experimentally investigated. A high-strain-rate test was performed using the tension-type split Hopkinson bar technique. In order to obtain the tensile stress-strain relations, a special fixture was used for the impact tensile specimen. The experimental results demonstrated that the tensile modulus and strength in the longitudinal direction are independent of the strain rate. In contrast, the tensile properties in the transverse direction and the shear properties increase with the strain rate. Moreover, it was observed that the strain-rate dependence of the shear strength is much stronger than that of the transverse strength. The tensile strength of off-axis specimens was measured using an oblique tab, and the experimental results were compared with the tensile strength predicted based on the Tsai-Hill failure criterion. It was concluded that the tensile strength can be characterized quite well using the above failure criterion under dynamic loading conditions.

  • This study addresses the effect of pre-stressed cables on a pre-stressed mega-braced steel frame through employing static analysis and pushover analysis. The performances of a pre-stressed mega-braced steel frame and a pure steel frame without mega-braces are compared in terms of base shear, ductility, and failure mode. The influence of the cable parameters is also analyzed. Numerical results show that cable braces can effectively improve the lateral stiffness of a pure frame. However, it reduces structural ductility and degenerates structural pre-failure lateral stiffness greatly. Furthermore, it is found that 20% fluctuation in the cable pretension has little effect on structural ultimate bearing capacity and lateral stiffness. As comparison, 20% fluctuation in the cable diameter has much greater impact.

  • Gas pipelines are types of structures that are highly susceptible to corrosion. Sometimes, the pipes are subjected to a thinning of the wall thickness at the inside or outside wall due to erosion/corrosion. Therefore, it is important to evaluate the strength of the pipes undergoing corrosion to maintain the integrity of the piping systems. The main purpose of this study is to understand failure aspects caused by degradation of metal due to corrosion through. The ASME standard offers a relationship for the yielding pressure of the corroded pipes which was compared with the finite element results. The results demonstrate to obtain accurate results, the ASME relationship is unreliable. Moreover, pitting corrosion must be considered critical more than of other types.

  • ISB (Inner structured and bonded) panel with a pyramidal inner structure is actively developing to reduce the weight and to improve the crashworthiness of the material. The objective of this paper is to investigate into the variation of impact characteristics of ISB panels with a pyramidal inner structure according to joining types between skin sheets and inner structures. Several drop impact tests have been performed. In order to examine the impact characteristics at a drawing condition, drawing type of experimental set-up has been proposed. From the results of the experiments, the influence of joining types between skin sheets and the inner structures on the characteristics of the deformation, the energy absorption and the failure has been quantitatively examined. In addition, it has been shown that maximum load decreased and the maximum displacement increases as the joining type changes from the bonding to the welding. The results of the observation of the specimen have been shown that major wrinkles form in the minor crimping direction irrespective of the joining types. Through the comparison of the experimental results for bonding and welding specimens, it has been shown that the absorption energy of the bonded specimen is nearly 1.3-1.5 times of the welded specimen at the same displacement.

  • A steel-concrete composite (SC) panel typically consists of two steel faceplates and a plain concrete core. This paper investigated the impact response of SC panels through drop hammer tests and numerical simulations. The influence of the drop height, faceplate thickness, and axial compressive preload was studied. Experimental results showed that the deformation of SC panels under impact consists of local indentation and overall bending. The resistance of the panel significantly decreased after the local failure occurred. A three-dimensional finite element model was established to simulate the response of SC panels under low-velocity impact, in which the axial preload could be considered reasonably. The predicted displacements and impact force were in good agreement with the experimental results. Based on the validated model, a parametric study was conducted to further discuss the effect of the axial compressive preload.

  • Recently, carbon fiber reinforced plastic(CFRP) composite materials have been widely used in various fields of engineering because of its advanced properties. Also, CFRP composite materials offer new design flexibilities, corrosion and wear resistance, low thermal conductivity and increased fatigue life. However CFRP composite materials are susceptible to impact damage due to their lack of through-thickness reinforcement and it causes large drops in the load-carrying capacity of a structure. Therefore, the impact damage behavior and subsequently load-carrying capacity of impacted composite materials deserve careful investigation. In this study, the residual strength and impact characteristics of plain-woven CFRP composites with impact damage are investigated under axial tensile test. By using obtained residual strength and Tan-Cheng failure criterion, residual strength of CFRP laminate with arbitrary fiber angle were evaluated.

  • This study examined the dynamic response of a subsea pipeline under an impact load to determine the effect of the seabed soil. A laboratory-scale soil-based pipeline impact test was carried out to investigate the pipeline deformation/strain as well as the interaction with the soil-pipeline. In addition, an impact test was simulated using the finite element technique, and the calculated strain was compared with the experimental results. During the simulation, the pipeline was described based on an elasto-plastic analysis, and the soil was modeled using the Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion. The results obtained were compared with ASME D31.8, and the differences between the analysis results and the rules were specifically investigated. Modified ASME formulae were proposed to calculate the precise structural behavior of a subsea pipeline under an impact load when considering sand- and clay-based seabed soils.

  • A new concept of ammunition without the use of explosive gunpowder has been recently studied, which achieves performance equal to or higher than that of high explosives. Frangible Armor Piercing (FAP) is one of the concepts, which utilizes a tungsten alloy penetrator specialized for fragmentation. To investigate the fracture behavior of the tungsten alloy penetrator, Taylor impact tests were conducted at various impact velocities. Additionally, finite element analysis was performed to predict the fracture behavior of the tungsten alloy. Compression tests were also carried out at six strain rates for dynamic material properties and the dynamic hardening behavior was successfully predicted with the Lim-Huh model. Finally, the Mohr-Coulomb fracture model based on the mean stress was adopted to predict impact failure in Taylor impact simulation. The analysis predicts the deformation and fracture behaviors of the tungsten alloy successfully.
