This paper describes an image disparity estimation method using a segmented-region based stereo matching. Segmented-region based disparity estimation yields a disparity map as the unit of segmented region. However, there is a problem that it estimates disparity imprecisely. The reason is that because it not only have matching errors but also apply an identical way to disparity estimation, which is not considered each type of matched regions. To solve this problem, we proposes a disparity estimation method which is considered the type of matched regions. That is, the proposed method classifies whole matched regions into similar-matched region, dissimilar-matched region, false-matched region and miss-matched region by analyzing the type of matched regions. We then performs proper disparity estimation for each type of matched regions. This method minimizes the error in estimating disparity which is caused by inaccurate matching and also improves the accuracy of disparity of the well-matched regions. For the purpose of performance evaluations, we perform tests on a variety of scenes for synthetic, indoor and outdoor images. As a result of tests, we can obtain a dense disparity map which has the improved accuracy. The remarkable result is that the accuracy of disparity is also improved considerably for complex outdoor images which are barely treatable in the previous methods.
We propose an automatic segmentation method for identifying pulmonary structures using gray-level information of chest CT images. Our method consists of following five steps. First, to segment pulmonary structures based on the difference of gray-level value, we select the threshold using optimal thresholding. Second, we separate the thorax from the background air and then the lungs and airways from the thorax by applying the inverse operation of 2D region growing in chest CT images. To eliminate non-pulmonary structures which has similar intensities with the lungs, we use 3D connected component labeling. Third, we segment the trachea and left and right mainstem bronchi using 3D branch-based region growing in chest CT images. Fourth, we can obtain accurate lung boundaries by subtracting the result of third step from the result of second step. Finally, we select the threshold in accordance with histogram analysis and then segment radio-dense pulmonary vessels by applying gray-level thresholding to the result of the second step. To evaluate the accuracy of proposed method, we make a visual inspection of segmentation result of lungs, airways and pulmonary vessels. We compare the result of the conventional region growing with the result of proposed 3D branch-based region growing. Experimental results show that our proposed method extracts lung boundaries, airways, and pulmonary vessels automatically and accurately.
This study is aimed to provide basic data to set the direction of polar literacy education and to raise awareness of the importance of polar research. Elementary, middle, and high school students' perception of the polar region was examined in terms of current status of polar information, impression regarding polar regions, and awareness of related issues. The study included 975 students from nine elementary, middle, and high schools, who responded to 16 questions, including close-ended and open-ended items. The results suggest that students had more experiences regarding the polar region on audiovisual media, but relatively limited learning experiences in school education. The impression they had of the polar region was confined to the monotonous image of a polar bear in crisis, following the melting of the glacier due to global warming. The students formed powerful images by combining scenes they saw in audiovisual media with emotions. In terms of recognizing problems in the polar region, the students were generally interested in creatures, natural environment, and climate change, but their interests varied depending on their school level and their own career path. The students highly valued the scientist's status as agents to address the problems facing the region, and gave priority to global citizenship values rather than practical standards. Based on the results, we suggest the following: introducing and systematizing content focusing on the polar region in the school curriculum, providing a differentiated learning experience through cooperation between scientists and educators, establishing polar literacy based on concepts that are relevant to various subjects, earth system-centered learning approach, setting the direction for follow-up studies and the need for science education that incorporates diverse values.

Skin tone plays a key role in one of the determinant for facial attractiveness. Most female customers have an interest in choosing skin color and improving their skin tone and their needs have been contributed the expansion of cosmetic products in the market. Recently, cosmetic customers, who want bright skin, are also interested in healthy and lively-looking skin. However, there is no method to evaluate the skin tone with the complexion-describing adjectives (CDAs). Therefore, this study was conducted to find the ways to objectify and digitize the CDA. We obtained that quasi $L^*$ at dark skin is 65 and quasi $L^*$ at bright skin is 74 for standard images, which are selected from our data base. To match the following seven CDAs: pale, clear, radiant, lively, healthy, rosy and dull, the colors of both images were adjusted by 30 panels. The quasi $L^*$, $a^*$ and $b^*$ were converted from the RGB values of the manipulated images. The differences between the quasi $L^*$, $a^*$ and $b^*$ values of standard images and manipulated images reflecting each CDA were statistically significant (p < 0.05). However, there were no statistical significances between the $L^*$ values of dark and bright skin images that were modified in accordance with each CDA and there also were no statistical significances between the quasi $a^*$ values of dark and bright skin for pale and clear CDAs. From the statistical analysis, the CDAs were observed to form three groups: (i) pale-clear-radiant, (ii) lively-healthy-rosy and (iii) dull. We recognized that people have a similar opinion about perception of CDAs. Following our results of this study, we establish new standard method for sensibility evaluation which is difficult to carry out scientifically or objectively.

Carbonylated proteins (CPs) are synthesized by the chemical reaction of basic amino acid residues in proteins with aldehyde compounds yielded by lipid peroxidation. CPs are excited by a range of light from UVA to blue light, and resulted in the generation of superoxide anion radicals ($^{\cdot}O_2{^-}$) by photosensitizing reaction. Then, they CPs induce new protein carbonylation in stratum corneum through ROS generation. Furthermore, the superoxide anion radicals produce CPs in the stratum corneum (SC) through lipid peroxidation and finally affects skin conditions including color and moisture functions. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the production of stratum corneum carbonylated protein (SCCP) and the skin elasticity. 46 healthy female Koream at the ages of 30 ~ 50 years old were participated in this study for 8 weeks. The skin test was experiment conducted into two groups; placebo group (N = 23) used cream that did not contain active ingredients, and the other group (N = 23) used cream containing the elasticity improving ingredients. Test areas were the crow 's feet and the cheek. Various non-invasive methods were carried out to measure biophysical parameters on human skin indicating that dermis density and skin wrinkle were measured by using DUB scanner and Primos premium, respectively. Skin elasticity were measured using dermal torque meter (DTM310) and balistometer (BLS780). SCCP was assessed in a simple and non-invasive method using skin surface biopsy on the cheek of the subject. The amount of SCCP was determined using image analysis. All measurements were taken at 0, 4 and 8 8week. Results revealed that the amount of CP in SC was reduced when the skin wrinkle and skin elasticity related parameters were improved. This indicates that the correlation between the elasticity improvement and the amount of CP can be used as a anti-aging indicator and applicable to the skin clinical test for the measurement of skin aging in the future.

In this study, $L-{\alpha}-amino$ acid, which is a constituent of natural moisturizing factor, was applied to skin in periodic cycle to improve skin tone and texture roughness. Based on the polarity of the alkyl group (R) of the $L-{\alpha}-amino$ acid, the acid was categorized into two groups and their efficacy was studied. As a result, it was found that the improvement rate of $L-{\alpha}-amino$ acid complex with polar alkyl group ($L-{\alpha}-AAC-1$) is 21% higher than that of $L-{\alpha}-amino$ acid complex with non-polar alkyl group ($L-{\alpha}-AAC-2$). For clinical trials, emulsions containing $L-{\alpha}-amino$ acid complex ($L-{\alpha}-AAC-1$) were applied to the randomly selected 20 to 40 year old female participants, as an experimental group, on the right facial cheek once per day for 8 weeks, and emulsions without $L-{\alpha}-amino$ acid complex, as a control group, were applied to the left facial cheek in the same way. Improvements in skin tone were measured using $JANUS^{(R)}$ equipment and analyzed using image analysis software. Skin texture improvement was measured and analyzed mechanically using the phaseshift rapid in-vivo measurement of the skin (PRIMOS) equipment. As a result, improvements of skin tone and skin texture were 11.7% and 6.7%, respectively. In addition, a questionnaire survey was conducted to the participants on the aesthetic improvement and the degree of the feeling of skin improvement. The results suggest that $L-{\alpha}-amino$ acid can be used as a cosmetic substance that can provide aesthetic satisfaction through physiological skin tone and texture roughness.
Some artists and scientists in physics and animation originating from research on its form of expression thanks to the rapid development of the example in the late 20th century image production technology integrating existing media feature, perform a re-creation and pop culture content has been recognized as a key factor. animation of the modern emphasis is also commercial and artistic activities as show whether the artist can not be excluded that also target audience. The audience does not want only to receive offers simply 'seeing' and 'hearing' in the animation requires a more indirect mental met. the other side, the director should lead the audience to immerse myself in work as intended mystification induce the world. where a conflict occurs between the audience and the director and The director needs to have its troubleshooting point to 'Technology of the communication'. Which is reduced to 'How will tell,' is technology communication technologies that are abbreviated representations of animation director is accessible to the audience and it is a close relationship between the psychological aspect of audience. Because, the audience is reproduced in a limited space, but he called on the board of directors and the same time the screen, the audience located at reception and the director located at provide. It is given. led force is given to the director. for this reason, The director needs to pay attention to the psychological aspect of audience this can be explained based on psychoanalytic theory. In this paper, "How can you lie to the audience and the director is the same line?" put down logic that is the animation audience under the logic that takes place visually capture phenomenon "selective attention" and sub-concept of "goal-directed selection' and 'stimulus-driven capturel' for theory of psychology. also, Induction device to elicit selective attention of the audience accordingly, let's consider whether and how they apply in animation.
Due to recent increase in applications requiring huge amount of data such as spatial data analysis and image analysis, clustering on large databases has been actively studied. In a hierarchical clustering method, a tree representing hierarchical decomposition of the database is first created, and then, used for efficient clustering. Existing hierarchical clustering methods mainly adopted the bottom-up approach, which creates a tree from the bottom to the topmost level of the hierarchy. These bottom-up methods require at least one scan over the entire database in order to build the tree and need to search most nodes of the tree since the clustering algorithm starts from the leaf level. In this paper, we propose a novel top-down hierarchical clustering method that uses multidimensional indexes that are already maintained in most database applications. Generally, multidimensional indexes have the clustering property storing similar objects in the same (or adjacent) data pares. Using this property we can find adjacent objects without calculating distances among them. We first formally define the cluster based on the density of objects. For the definition, we propose the concept of the region contrast partition based on the density of the region. To speed up the clustering algorithm, we use the branch-and-bound algorithm. We propose the bounds and formally prove their correctness. Experimental results show that the proposed method is at least as effective in quality of clustering as BIRCH, a bottom-up hierarchical clustering method, while reducing the number of page accesses by up to 26~187 times depending on the size of the database. As a result, we believe that the proposed method significantly improves the clustering performance in large databases and is practically usable in various database applications.
Clustering is a useful technique for grouping data points such that points within a single group/cluster have similar characteristics. Many clustering algorithms have been developed and used in engineering applications including pattern recognition and image processing etc. Recently, it has drawn increasing attention as one of important techniques in data mining. However, clustering algorithms such as K-means and Fuzzy C-means suffer from difficulties. Those are the needs to determine the number of clusters apriori and the clustering results depending on the initial set of clusters which fails to gain desirable results. In this paper, we propose a new clustering algorithm, which solves mentioned problems. In our method we use evolutionary algorithm to solve the local optima problem that clustering converges to an undesirable state starting with an inappropriate set of clusters. We also adopt a new measure that represents how well data are clustered. The measure is determined in terms of both intra-cluster dispersion and inter-cluster separability. Using the measure, in our method the number of clusters is automatically determined as the result of optimization process. And also, we combine heuristic that is problem-specific knowledge with a evolutionary algorithm to speed evolutionary algorithm search. We have experimented our algorithm with several sets of multi-dimensional data and it has been shown that one algorithm outperforms the existing algorithms.
Viewers of videos are likely to absorb more information from the part of the screen that attracts visual attention. This fact has led to the visual attention models that are being used in producing and evaluating videos. In this paper, we investigate the factors that are significant to visual attention and the mathematical form of the visual attention model. We then estimated the visual attention probability using the statistical design of experiments. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) verifies that the motion velocity, distance from the screen, and amount of defocus blur affect human visual attention significantly. Using the response surface modeling (RSM), we created a visual attention score model that concerns the three factors, from which we calculate the visual attention probabilities (VAPs) of image pixels. The VAPs are directly applied to existing gradient based 3D effect perception measurement. By giving weights according to our VAPs, our algorithm achieves more accurate measurement than the existing method. The performance of the proposed measurement is assessed by comparing them with subjective evaluation as well as with existing methods. The comparison verifies that the proposed measurement outperforms the existing ones.
