1970년대 잡지 『여학생』의 소녀 담론과 만화 -강요된 모범과 만들어진 명랑 (The Discourse on Girls and the Comics in the 1970s Magazine, Schoolgirl - A Forced Model and the Invented Cheerfulness)

  • 본 논문의 목적은 만화 연구에서 소외되었던 1970년대 순정만화를 조명하는 것이다. 본 논문에서는 1970년대의 잡지인 『여학생』의 기사와 연재만화를 분석하고 당시의 이상적인 소녀상을 고찰한다. 순정만화는 1960년대와 1970년대의 차이가 상당히 크다. 단행본 순정만화 분석만으로는 이러한 간극에 대해 설명되지 않는다. 만화 검열이 만화 전반의 발전을 저해하는 요소로 작용했지만 다른 장르의 만화와 비교했을 때 1970년대 순정만화의 정체는 지나치다. 순정만화와 함께 소녀를 대상으로 하는 대표적인 대중매체였던 잡지 연구를 통해 순정만화 변화의 원인에 대한 답을 얻을 수 있을 것이다. 잡지의 기사는 그 잡지의 편집방침과 특징을 보여주기도 하지만 그 시대의 가치관과 이념을 반영한다. 잡지에 실린 만화 역시 마찬가지이다. 특히 잡지 만화는 검열에서 비교적 자유로웠다. 본 논문에서는 1970년대 소녀잡지의 기사와 만화가 당시의 소녀상을 어떻게 형성했는지 『여학생』의 특집 기사와 만화를 통해 분석했다. 『여학생』에 연재된 만화 중에서 엄희자의 <푸른 지대>와 방영진의 <미니 행진곡>을 살펴보았다. <푸른 지대>와 <미니 행진곡> 모두 『여학생』의 기사에서 강조한 이상적인 소녀상을 보여준다. <푸른 지대>는 가정 안의 성실하고 순종적인 딸의 모습을, <미니 행진곡>은 명랑하고 밝은 소녀의 모습을 그린다. 연구를 통해 1970년대 잡지는 사회에 순응하면서 화목한 가정을 돕는 소녀를 이상적인 소녀로 평가했다는 것 그리고, 잡지에서 끊임없이 주장했던 이상적인 소녀상은 순정만화의 검열과 창작의 기준이 되어 많은 작품의 내용과 표현에 큰 영향을 주었다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 1970년대는 만화 검열과 합동 출판사의 독과점 전횡으로 연구사적 의미에서 그 중요성이 희석된 시기이다. 검열의 틀에서 표현의 한계가 명확했고 그 결과 양질의 작품도 많지 않아 1970년대 한국만화 연구는 많은 부분이 공백으로 남아 있다. 본 연구는 1970년대 만화 연구의 공백을 채우는 데에 의미가 있다.

일제하(日帝下) 사립전문학교(私立專門學校) 도서관(図書館) (THE KOREAN PRIVATE COLLEGE LIBRARIES UNDER THE PERIOD OF JAPANESE CONTROL)

  • Korean private colleges under the period of Japanese control was the kernel for the educational resistance, one of the save-the-nation movements because of inculcating in Koreans the spirit of independence and self-respect under that period. Posung College Library building, erected in Commemoration of the 30th Anniversary of the Foundation, especially, was the result of Koreans systematizing ability and iron will of independence for the future generations. In this paper, an attempt to study the Korean private college libraries under the period of Japanese control is provided. The main institutions in this study are Posung College library, Chosen Christian College library (Yunhee College Library), and Ewha College Library. This study will focus to review the followings: 1. The historical background of above mentioned libraries. 2. The educational resistance under that period. 3. The comparative and analytical study of these private college libraries and Keijo Imperial University library. 4. The facilities and the basic collection development plan on the basis of presentation. 5. library services including readers services. 6. The impact of these libraries on the present private university libraries. 7. The organization and staffing pattern, and budget of these private college libraries. The followings are the outlines conclusions: 1. Korean private college libraries had been established in order to perform the educational resistance. They are one of the supporting agencies for the research activities, among the most important means of social education, and provide, no doubt, the full nutriment for hungry soul under that period. 2. These libraries have not outstripped Keijo Imperial University in collection of books as well as man power, but their collection of books coincided, in general, with their curricula, and had feature to perform the save-the-nation-movement by education. 3. The library services were appeared in the forms such as the Circulation Library, Lectures on the Use of Books and Libraries, Library Week, and Training Course for the Librarians, etc. It is thought that these activities contributed to the social and cultural development of Korea indirectly. 4. The library administration of the private colleges depended upon the director of library because of the frequent changes of staffs and the simple functional system without its middle class. 5. The Japanese Government-General in Korea gave no financial assistance to the private colleges though they were in financial difficulties more than Keijo Imperial University. 6. The ambitious ideal for foundation of universities in reality as well as in name was not achieved during that period because of the monstrous obstacle so-called the Japanese Government-General in Korea, but its ideal had a desirable effect upon these college libraries development, in particular, before and after 1935.

성격에 따른 한국인 여성(20대) 캐릭터의 얼굴 모델 연구(관상학을 이용하여) (Research for facial model of Korean female using physiognomy)

  • 본 연구에 앞서 2002년 10월에 한국인 20대 대학생들을 상대로 실시한 설문조사 결과 애니메이션에 등장하는 한국과 일본의 여성 캐릭터의 모습은 차별성이 적고, 일반적으로 눈이 크고, 코가 오뚝하며, 얼굴은 계란형이고, 눈이나 입은 지나치게 과장되게 표현되어 캐릭터에 대한 호감이 적다는 사실을 발견하게 되었다. 본 연구는 한국인 20대 여성의 얼굴 특징을 일본인 20대 여성과 비교하여 관념적, 생물학적 관점에서 조사한 후 이를 토대로 한국인 여성 캐릭터의 성격에 따른 얼굴의 특징을 관상학을 적용하여 제작하고, 이에 대한 객관적인 검증을 거쳐 한국 여성 캐릭터의 표준 근거를 제시해 보고자 하였다. 연구 결과 우리나라 사람들은 관념적 관점에서 본 얼굴 형태소의 특징을 바탕으로 제작한 여성 캐릭터와 귀엽고 착한 성격, 착하고 조용한 성격의 여성 캐릭터에 대해서는 한국인답다 라고 느끼며 호감형으로 생각하는 반면 생물학적 관점에서 본 얼굴 형태소의 특징을 바탕으로 제작한 여성 캐릭터와 신경질 적이거나, 불만이 많은 성격의 여성 캐릭터에 대해서는 한국인답지 않다고 느끼고 비호감형으로 생각하는 것으로 조사되었다. 이는 특징이 강한 얼굴과 과장된 표현, 그리고 비호감형에 대해서는 한국인과 거리가 멀다고 느끼는 것을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구에서 정리한 애니메이션에서 자주 등장하는 7가지 성격별 한국인 여성 캐릭터와 그에 따른 해당 성격과의 상관관계에 대한 반응에서는 73.5%의 일치율을 보였는데, 이는 한국인 여성 캐릭터의 성격에 따른 얼굴 형태소 특징을 동양관상학을 바탕으로 접근한 것이 한국인 캐릭터 제작에 있어 비교적 효과적일 수 있으며 본 연구에서 제작한 캐릭터는 실제의 얼굴을 바탕으로 하고 있지만, 성격별 얼굴의 각 부분별 특징을 캐릭터 제작에 적용한다면 보다 다양한 한국인 여성 캐릭터를 제작할 수 있을 것이다.

차경(借景)을 통해 본 소쇄원 원림의 구조 - 「소쇄원시선(瀟灑園詩選)」과 「소쇄원30영」을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Structure of Soshaewon Landscape Garden Featuring Borrowed Scenery - Focusing on the Soshaewon Sisun and the Thirty Poems of Soshaewon -)

  • 본 연구는 자연친화적 전통경관을 이해하기 위해서 차경(借景) 개념에 착안하고 "원야(園冶)"의 차경론과 의경론(意境論)이라는 중국 원림 이론을 빌려 전통정원을 해석하였다. 연구 방법론으로 원림 감상자가 취사 선택한 차경의 양상과 그 결과로서 의경이라는 추상적 경지에 도달하는 차경 구조를 도출하는데 적합한 시문 분석을 선택하였다. 구체적으로 조선시대 소쇄원 방문자들의 감상 기록을 모아 번역한 "소쇄원시선(瀟灑園詩選, 1995)"과 양산보(梁山甫, 1503~1557)의 5대손 양경지(梁敬之, 1662~1734)가 지은 "소쇄원30영(1696)"을 중심으로 소쇄원의 차경 양상을 고찰하고, 차경과 연계하여 원림의 구조를 도출하였다. 연구의 첫 번째 결과로서 기존에 시각 틀을 통해서 이루어진다고 이해한 차경 개념을 넘어서 시각적, 공감각적, 일시적, 관념적 차경으로 유형화하였다. 이에 소쇄원 방문자들은 실경과 허경으로 구성된 원림을 네 가지 유형으로 차경함으로써 소쇄원을 시적 정취와 미적 감성을 제공하는 공간으로 재창조하여 의경을 성취한다는 차경 구조를 제시하였다. 두 번째 결과로서 현재 계정(溪亭) 위주의 내원(內園)으로 인식되는 소쇄원에 시각적, 공감각적, 일시적 차경이 이루어진 조망권과 함께 후대에 담장 밖 부지에 다양한 기능을 담았던 외원(外園), 그리고 소쇄원가 사람들이 도학적으로 교류한 인맥에 의한 증암천(甑岩川) 권역과 신선세계를 갈망하며 읊은 명산(名山) 등 관념적 차경으로 형성된 영향권원을 규정함으로써 세 가지 유형의 원림으로 이루어진 소쇄원의 영역과 구성요소들을 도식화하였다.

Dynamics of Air Temperature, Velocity and Ammonia Emissions in Enclosed and Conventional Pig Housing Systems

  • This study aimed to compare the dynamics of air temperature and velocity under two different ventilation and housing systems during summer and winter in Korea. The $NH_3$ concentration of both housing systems was also investigated in relation to the pig's growth. The ventilation systems used were; negative pressure type for the enclosed pig house (EPH) and natural airflow for the conventional pig house (CPH). Against a highly fluctuating outdoor temperature, the EPH was able to maintain a stable temperature at 24.8 to $29.1^{\circ}C$ during summer and 17.9 to $23.1^{\circ}C$ during winter whilst the CPH had a wider temperature variance during summer at 24.7 to $32.3^{\circ}C$. However, the temperature fluctuation of the CPH during winter was almost the same with that of EPH at 14.5 to $18.2^{\circ}C$. The NH3 levels in the CPH ranged from 9.31 to 16.9 mg/L during summer and 5.1 to 19.7 mg/L during winter whilst that of the EPH pig house was 7.9 to 16.1 mg/L and 3.7 to 9.6 mg/L during summer and winter, respectively. These values were less than the critical ammonia level for pigs with the EPH maintaining a lower level than the CPH in both winter and summer. The air velocity at pig nose level in the EPH during summer was 0.23 m/s, enough to provide comfort because of the unique design of the inlet feature. However, no air movement was observed in almost all the lower portions of the CPH during winter because of the absence of an inlet feature. There was a significant improvement in weight gain and feed intake of pigs reared in the EPH compared to the CPH (p<0.05). These findings proved that despite the difference in the housing systems, a stable indoor temperature was necessary to minimize the impact of an avoidable and highly fluctuating outdoor temperature. The EPH consistently maintained an effective indoor airspeed irrespective of season; however the CPH had defective and stagnant air at pig nose level during winter. Characteristics of airflow direction and pattern were consistent relative to housing system during both summer and winter but not of airspeed. The ideal air velocity measurement favored the EPH and therefore can be appropriate for the Korean environment. Further emphasis on its cost effectiveness will be the subject of future investigations.

패턴 절개를 응용한 의상의 조형적 형태미의 표현 연구 - 안토니오 가우디 건축 작품 형태를 중심으로 - (Study of Fashion Design Applying the Formative Beauty of Architectural Works by Antoni Gaudi)

  • This research is a study of fashion design that applied formative features of formal beauty of architecture into clothing design; we focused on Gaudi's architectural style as well as Art Nouveau style that became popular from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century. We noted that in general the simple and flat features of cloth impose a limitation on the expression of formal features in clothing design, but a unique diversity of designs can be achieved, evoking a sense of freshness by an ideal combination of flat patterns and draping. The aim of this research is to present a possibility of extending the sphere of design expression by creating three-dimensional clothes with pattern-cutting skills and applications of three-dimensional patterns as well as flat patterns found in Gaudi's works of architecture that are distinguished in curvaceousness and formal beauty. As for the research method, we reviewed previous studies by making a close review of books, papers, the pictures and web sites related to this topic. We made our clothes on the basis of this theoretical consideration. We found the following points. First, by presenting a work of fashion inspired by architectural designs, we realized that formal beauty in architect can become a motive for clothing design in a broad scale by noting the formal images, decoration details, and formative features of architectural works. Second, the characteristic lines of Gaudi's architecture are suitable to be adapted for expressing the detailed lines of decoration in clothes. Third, we can express formative beauty in clothes by highlighting the variation of shapes and lines through various attempts of change in background pattern, even though there is a limitation in the availability of cloth material because we must choose pieces of cloth with right texture and thickness that can be cut and sewn appropriately to express formative beauty. Fourth, we confirmed that it was possible to create unique formative designs by a creative application of both flat and three-dimensional cutting.

Learning Free Energy Kernel for Image Retrieval

  • Content-based image retrieval has been the most important technique for managing huge amount of images. The fundamental yet highly challenging problem in this field is how to measure the content-level similarity based on the low-level image features. The primary difficulties lie in the great variance within images, e.g. background, illumination, viewpoint and pose. Intuitively, an ideal similarity measure should be able to adapt the data distribution, discover and highlight the content-level information, and be robust to those variances. Motivated by these observations, we in this paper propose a probabilistic similarity learning approach. We first model the distribution of low-level image features and derive the free energy kernel (FEK), i.e., similarity measure, based on the distribution. Then, we propose a learning approach for the derived kernel, under the criterion that the kernel outputs high similarity for those images sharing the same class labels and output low similarity for those without the same label. The advantages of the proposed approach, in comparison with previous approaches, are threefold. (1) With the ability inherited from probabilistic models, the similarity measure can well adapt to data distribution. (2) Benefitting from the content-level hidden variables within the probabilistic models, the similarity measure is able to capture content-level cues. (3) It fully exploits class label in the supervised learning procedure. The proposed approach is extensively evaluated on two well-known databases. It achieves highly competitive performance on most experiments, which validates its advantages.

안동(安東) 임청각(臨淸閣)의 문자형태(文字形態)에 나타난 의미(意味)와 택법(宅法)에 관한 연구(硏究) (A Study on the Meaning of Letter-Shaped House Plan and the Housing Principles of the Imchonggak in Andong)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the meaning of letter-shaped house plan of the Imchongak in Andong and to Analyze its housing principles. The letter-shaped house plan of the Imchongak lays its root in the traditional Eastern thoughts, showing feature of Taolsm. The Imchongak applied the principles of a good land and a good house, which are originated from the Yonyang theory, Five elements theory, Poongsochiri, housing principles and letter shapes of good fortune. The letter shape of the Imchongak is 用(as below), and 日, 月, and 明 are contained in it. The lette 明means brightening the mind and life of human being by himself. The letter 用 is shaped to express the idea of Cheayong Theory of Confucianism, which refer to everlasting interaction of all thing in the universe. In applying the housing principles, Potaebob was used for the orientation of the house. Samhabbob, Jungeomjungyangbob and Dongsusataecbob were utilized to locate the gate. In addition, Dongsusataecbob was used for the positioning of rooms in most cases. The Imchongak succeeded traditional Eastern thoughts and it realized the concept and philosophical idea of Confucianism as a house. What is importan in the house plan of the Imchongak is that it repesents the ideal of Confucians in Chosun Dyansty that the man, house, nature, and universe are one. It also advocates ideology of Confucianism which emphasizes that a human life can be completed when man live together with the nature and harmonize themselves with it.

저서어자원량의 음향추정에 있어서 해저기준과 해저 오프셋의 최소화 (Stable Bottom Detection and Optimum Bottom Offset for Echo Integration of Demersal Fish)

  • 계량어군탐지기를 이용하여 저서어를 대상으로 에코적분을 행하는 경우, 적분범위의 하한을 결정하기 위해 설정하는 해저기준이나 해저오프셋은, 저서어 자원량추정의 중요한 요인 중의 하나이다. 해저부근의 어군에코의 해석으로부터 해저기준의 결정방법과 최적 오프셋에 관하여 고찰한 결과, 다음과 같은 결과를 보였다. 1) 적분층의 폭을 5m로 하여, 적분범위를 1샘플링씩 해저방향으로 이동하면서, 해저부근의 S$\sub$a5m/의 변화를 본 결과, 해저부근의 어군에코를 적분하기 위해서는, 적분범위의 하한을 가능한 해저까지 접근시켜야 한다. 2) 에코레벨의 역치로서 해저검출을 행한 경우, 역치가 클수록 해저 검출 불능횟수가 증가하고, 작을수록 해저 오검출 횟수가 늘어 났다. 3) 에코레벨의 최대변화점을 해저기준으로 한 해저검출법은, 그 정도가 매우 높았으며, 나아가 에코레벨의 변동에 대해 아주 안정한 해저기준 알고리 즘으로 적합하였다. 4) 이 해저검출 알고리즘에 의하면, 최적해저오프셋은 해저 기준으로부터 0.4ms이내였고, 이것은 펄스파형과 해저지형에 대한 음향빔에 의존한다.

Nano-sized Drug Carriers and Key Factors for Lymphatic Delivery

  • Specific diseases like cancer and acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) occur at various organs including lymphatics and spread through lymphatic system. Thus, if therapeutic agents for such diseases are more distributed or targeted to lymphatic system, we can obtain several advantages like reduction of systemic side effect and increase of efficacy. For these reasons, much interest has been focused on the nature of lymphatics and a lot of studies for lymphatic delivery of drugs have been carried out. Because lymphatics consist of single layer endothelium and have high permeability compared with blood capillaries, especially, the studies using nano-sized carriers have been performed. Polymeric nano-particle, liposome, and lipid-based vehicle have been adopted for lymphatic delivery as carriers. According to the administration route and the kind of carrier, the extent of lymphatic delivery efficiency of nano-sized carriers has been changed and influenced by several factors such as size, charge, hydrophobicity and surface feature of carrier. In this review, we summarized the key factors which affect lymphatic uptake and the major features of carriers for achieving the lymphatic delivery. Lymphatic delivery of drug using nano-sized carriers has many fold improved ability of lymphatic delivery compared with that of conventional dosage forms, but it has not shown whole lymph selectivity yet. Even though nano-sized carriers still have the potential and worth to study as lymphatic drug delivery technology as before, full understanding of delivery mechanism and influencing factors, and setting of pharmacokinetic model are required for more ideal lymphatic delivery of drug.
