  • This study is about a semi-active quarter car simulation method including a MR(magneto-rheological) damper. The MR damper was modeled as Spencer model that can capture nonlinear and hysteretic behavior. The parameters of the Spencer model were extracted from a random excitation test and optimum treatment of the test data. Then, a suspension control algorithm based on Sky-hook theory was applied for the quarter car simulation. Also, an experiment was dong using a quarter car simulator to confirm the simulation results with the Spencer MR damper model

  • In this paper, the magic formula model was applied for a friction damper in a drum-type washing machine. To describe characteristics of the hysteretic damping force, Physical tests were first carried out to get experimental results using an MTS machine. Then, parameters for the magic formula model were determined from the experimental curves. The ADAMS and MATLAB programs were used for the multibody modeling of the damper and process for parameter identification. The model of drum-type washing machine was applied for a dynamic model of friction damper, in which the accuracy of the proposed damper model was verified.

  • 본 논문에서는 우등버스용 MR 댐퍼의 특성 시험 결과를 분석하고, 비선형 히스테리시스 특성을 모델링할 수 있는 실험적 모델링이 제시된다. MR 댐퍼의 인가전류에 따른 실험적 모델을 구성하고, 매트랩의 최적설계 툴 박스를 이용하여 계수를 규명한다. 우등버스의 전차량 시뮬레이션을 통하여 차량동역학 해석용 MR 댐퍼의 실험적 모델의 유용성을 검증한다.

  • In general, seismic isolators which are made of laminated rubber and shim plate have characteristics of complex hysteretic behavior. When shear deformation of the seismic isolator is small, the isolator hassimple hysteretic almost bi-linear behabior. But on large shear deformation hardening effects may occur. This paper proposes a moldeling method of the seimic isolator with modified hysteretic bi-linear model which can consider the hardening effects. From the results of the seismic analyses of the isolated system it is shown that the responses are singificantly reduced compared with those of the non-isolated system. The modified hysteretic bi-linear model of the isolator gives larger ZPA(zero period acceleration) than those of the simple hysteretic bi-linear model and the equivalunt spring-damper model.

건축구조물의 내진성능 향상을 위한 강재댐퍼 형상 및 이력 거동 (Metallic Damper Shape and Cyclic Behavior for the Seismic Capacity Improvement of Building Structures)

  • 본 논문에서는 기존 건축물의 내진성능을 향상시키기 위해 시공성과 설치 비용적인 측면에서 상대적으로 우수한 강재댐퍼를 대상으로 기존 개발된 장치와 새로 개발된 형상의 장치에 대한 평가를 해석적으로 수행하였다. 해석결과는 강도 및 에너지 소산능력으로 평가하였으며, 제안된 내력 산정식의 적용을 아울러 평가하였다. 연구대상 댐퍼의 스트럿 형상은 V형, S형이며, 댐퍼의 스트럿 높이와 각도를 주요 변수로 한 후 ABAQUS를 이용하여 유한요소 해석하였다. 해석은 최대변위를 50mm로 하고 점진적인 이력변위곡선을 적용하여 수행하였다. 항복강도, 최대강도, 에너지 소산능력 평가결과, V형 및 S형 모두 우수한 성능을 보유한 것으로 평가되었으며, 또한 스트럿 각도 $60^{\circ}$ 및 높이 140, 200 mm의 성능이 안정적인 것으로 평가되었다. 전체적으로는 S형의 응답이 V형보다 안정적인 것으로 평가되어, S형 강재댐퍼의 적용성이 V형보다 유리한 것으로 평가되었다.

The controllable fluid dash pot damper performance

  • The use of smart dampers to optimally control the response of structures is on the increase. To maximize the potential use of such damper systems, their accurate modeling and assessment of their performance is of vital interest. In this study, the performance of a controllable fluid dashpot damper, in terms of damper forces, damper dynamic range and damping force hysteretic loops, respectively, is studied mathematically. The study employs a damper Bingham-Maxwell (BingMax) model whose mathematical formulation is developed using a Fourier series technique. The technique treats this one-dimensional Navier-Stokes's momentum equation as a linear superposition of initial-boundary value problems (IBVPs): boundary conditions, viscous term, constant Direct Current (DC) induced fluid plug and fluid inertial term. To hold the formulation applicable, the DC current level to the damper is supplied as discrete constants. The formulation and subsequent simulation are validated with experimental results of a commercially available magneto rheological (MR) dashpot damper (Lord model No's RD-1005-3) subjected to a sinusoidal stroke motion using a 'SCHENK' material testing machine in the Materials Laboratory at the University of Technology, Sydney.

건축구조물의 지진응답제어를 위한 MR 감쇠기 예비설계절차 (Preliminary Design Procedure of MR Dampers for Controlling Seismic Response of Building Structures)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 건축구조물의 지진응답제어를 위한 MR 감쇠기의 크기, 개수 및 최적위치를 결정하는 설계절차를 제안하는 것이다. 기존의 연구에서 제안된 MR 감쇠기의 모델링 방법들의 특성과 차이점을 진동제어효과의 관점에서 분석하였으며, 이 모델 중 해석이 간단하고 이력특성을 모사할 수 있는 이력 이점성 모델을 사용하여 MR 감쇠기의 변수연구를 수행하였다. 건축구조물의 층간에 설치되는MR 감쇠장치의 용량은 지진응답의 경우 구조물의 주기와 감쇠비에 따라 층전단력이 다르게 됨을 고려하여, 20개의 지진하중에 대한 해석으로부터 구한 응답스펙트럼을 이용하여 결정하였으며, 설치 갯수에 따른 제어경향을 분석하였다. MR 감쇠기의 크기, 개수, 그리고 최적위치를 결정하기 위한 방법이 제안되었으며, 기존의 점성감쇠기 설계시 이용되는 층간변위 혹은 층간속도가 가장 큰 층에 순차적으로 설치하는 방법과의 비교를 통해 유효성을 검증하였다. 수치해석결과는 제안된 방법을 사용하여 MR 감쇠기의 크기, 개수, 그리고 위치를 합리적으로 결정할 수 있음을 보여준다.

승용차용 MR 댐퍼의 댐핑력 이력현상 모델 (Hysteresis Model of Damping Forces of MR Damper for a Passenger Car)

  • This paper presents hysteresis models of damping forces of a magneto-rheological (MR) damper which is applicable to a middle-sized passenger vehicle. After manufacturing a cylindrical type of the MR damper, its field-dependant damping force and hysteresis behavior are experimentally evaluated. Three different models ; Bingham model, Bouc-Wen model and Polynomial model are provided to predict the hysteretic damping force. The damping force characteristics predicted from three different models are compared with the measured results under various excitation conditions.

  • The purpose of this thesis is to derive a theoretical model of the hysteretic resistance of the visco-elastic damper based on test results of harmonic excitation and to investigate of the basis of theory and experiment the effect of vibration control and response characteristics of portal frames degree vibration systems provided with the damper. The behaviour of a visco-elastic degree under dynamic loading is idealized by a model of the theory of visco-elasticity, i.e. a four-parameter model formed as a parallel combination of Maxwell fluid and Kelvin-Voigh models and its constitutive equation is derived. The model parameters are determined for a tested damper from the datas of harmonic excitation tests. The theoretical model of the damper is incorporated in equation fo motion of single degree of freedom. A computer program for solving the equation is written using Runge-kuttas's numerical integration scheme. Using this analysis program test cases of the earthquake excitation are simulated and the results of the simulation are the results of the simulation are the results of the simulation are compared with the test results.
