Purpose: This study was performed to determine the effects of foot reflexology on pain and quality of sleep in patients with terminal cancer. Method: Quai-experimental research design was used. The subjects of this study were consisted of 19 for experimental group and 18 for control group. Visualue Scale(VAS) was used as the measurement tool of pain in this study, Verra & Snyder-Halpern Sleep Scale(VSH) and Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) were used as the measurement tool of perceived quality of sleep. Data were analyzed using statistical methods such as frequency, percent, $x^2$-test, t-test using SPSS WIN 12.0 program. Results: The hypothesis 1 that the experimental group with reflexology has less degree of pain than the control group without reflexology was supported (t=5.41, p<.001). The hypothesis 2 that the experimental group with reflexology has higher degree of VSH Scale than the control group without reflexology was supported(t=2.37, p=.02). The hypothesis 3 that the experimental group with reflexology has the difference among the mean of sleep VAS Scale during the 12 measurement periods was not supported(F=1.63, p=.08), and no significant interactions between group and time. Conclusion: It is considered that reflexology is effective for reducing cancer pain and improving quality of sleep in patients with terminal cancer.
The main purpose of this paper is to setup a integrated model and verify the integrated model for a customer loyalty in the internet shopping environments. The results of a structural equation model (SEM) using AMOS and LISREL include: First, hypothesis that Internet environment characteristics in outside factors has a positive effect on satisfaction, trust and commitment is partially supported. However, mutual communication to satisfaction, community to commitment and open-ubiquity to trust did not reveal a positive effect. Second, hypothesis that Internet showing mall environment has a positive effect on satisfaction is partially supported. However, transaction to commitment and transaction to trust did not reveal a positive effect. Third, hypothesis that relational benefits has a positive effect on both satisfaction and commitment is partially supported. However, confident honest to commitment and economic honest to trust did not reveal a positive effect. Forth, satisfaction trust and commitment have a strong effect upon loyalty. Fifth, satisfaction has a positive effect on trust and commitment. However, trust did not show a positive effect on commitment. Outside factors(Internet environment characteristics, showing mall characteristics, and relational benefit) partially revealed a positive effect on satisfaction trust, and commitment. Mediating variables such as satisfaction, trust, and commitment again have positive effect on loyalty. But, the relationship for trust to commitment did not reveal the significant effect in this study while other studies revealed significant effect.
This study analyzes what effects does restaurant's well-being attribute selection have on word-of-mouth intention. Based on the result, this study aims to provide basic data for establishing Korean restaurant's service strategy and marketing strategy. The researchers surveyed 350 customers who visited a Korean restaurant located in Kangbook, Seoul. We encoded gathered data and analyzed them using SPSS 17.0 statistics package program. Following are the analyzed results. First, under hypothesis 1 - Korean restaurant's well-being attribute selection will have a positive influence on re-visitation intention - it is shown that sufficiency, healthiness, and steadiness have similar influence on re-visitation intention. Second, under hypothesis 2 - Korean restaurant's well-being attribute selection will have a positive influence on word-of-mouth intention - it is shown that sufficiency, healthiness, environment, and steadiness have similar influence on word -of-mouth intention. Third, under hypothesis 3 - Korean restaurant's re-visitation intention will have a positive influence on word -of-mouth intention - it is considered that eliciting customer's re-visitation intention also has influence on word-of-mouth intention. We will be necessary to consult how to derive customer's re-visitation intention or word-of-mouth intention by considering factors which customers of traditional Korean restaurant value.
An electromyographic device was used to investigate the relationship between a linguistic hypothesis of tense-lax distinction and muscular activity. Muscle action potentials of the orbicularis oris muscle and the depressor anguli oris muscle were obtained from four subjects using CVCVCV and CVCVC words in English and VCV and CVC words in Korean. Findings: The hypothesis that the speaker may select at least one of muscles involved in the articulation of a phoneme so that the selected muscle could be activated for tense-lax distinction, and either a timing variable or an amplitude variablethe and/or both from the selected muscle distinguish(es) /p/ from /b/ in English and /$p^{h},\;p^{l}$/ from /p/ in Korean, with the English /p/ and the Korean /$p^{h},\;p^{l}$/ being tense, and the Korean unaspirated /p/ and the English /b/ lax, has been verified, except for the case with subject 2 in stressed syllables in English. (2) Thus, the linguistic hypothesis of tense-lax distinction was strongly supported by the muscular activities during the Korean bilabial stops, with /$p^{h}\;and\;p^{l}$/ being tense and /p/ lax. (3) Considering the intermuscle compensation and the interspeaker variabilities in the choice of a muscle or muscles, in English the usability of the feature 'tensity' appeared to be positive rather than negative although further investigations with more subjects remain to take on the muscles associated with the onset/offset of the labial closure, including the respiratory muscles related with the aspiration. The phoneme-sensitive EMG manifestations of stress and possible reasons for the interspeaker variabilities are discussed.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of abstraction offer of basic concept principle and feedback of self-efficacy attributional and mathematical study ability of math underachievers in high school based on the attribution theory and self-efficacy theory. The hypothesis were posed as below : Hypothesis 1: The experimental group that takes the abstraction offer of concept principle and attributional feedback training would be better at most self-efficacy than the control group that doesn't. Hypothesis 2: The experimental group that takes the abstraction offer of concept principle and attributional feedback training would have better math achievement than the control group that doesn't. They were divided into an experimental group and a control group, and the attribution disposition, self-efficacy and academic achievement of the children were measured by pretest and posttest. For data analysis, SPSS/PC+ program was employed and t-test was conducted. The main findings of this study were as below : First, the abstraction offer of concept principle and attributional feedback training was effective for enhancing the math self-efficacy in high school underachievers. Second, the abstraction offer of concept principle and attributional feedback training was effective for increasing the math achievement in high school underachievers.
The purpose of the study is to inquire how the family environmental variables are to influence on the behavior, time of laundering and laundering facilities in the urban households. Independent variables are limited to the number of family members, the are of the youngest child, the age of the home maker, and her educational level, family income , and the type of housing in which the family lives. The total of 222 samples were thus selected. The data was analyzed on the basis of statistical method such as percentage, mean ,standard deviation, chi-square, and F-test. The major findings are as follows; 1) Hypothesis 1 is rejected, because the behavior of laundering management is not influenced by six family environmental variables. 2) The facilities for laundering management are affected by the home maker's age(p<.05), her educational level(p<.001), family income (p<.001), the housing of the family (p<.01) among six family environmental variables ; there fore, Hypothesis 2 is partially proved; 3) the time for laundering management is affected by the number of family members(p<.01), the age of the youngest child(p<.05), the home maker's educational level(p<.001) among six family environmental variables; therefore, Hypothesis 3 is partially proved.
Accurate and efficient estimation of the number of sources is critical for providing the parameter of targets in problems of array signal processing and blind source separation among other such problems. When conventional estimators work in unfavorable scenarios, e.g., at low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), with a small number of snapshots, or for sources with a different strength, it is challenging to maintain good performance. In this paper, the detection limit of the minimum description length (MDL) estimator and the signal strength required for reliable detection are first discussed. Though a comparison, we analyze the reason that performances of classical estimators deteriorate completely in unfavorable scenarios. After discussing the limiting distribution of eigenvalues of the sample covariance matrix, we propose a new approach for estimating the number of sources which is based on a sequential hypothesis test. The new estimator performs better in unfavorable scenarios and is consistent in the traditional asymptotic sense. Finally, numerical evaluations indicate that the proposed estimator performs well when compared with other traditional estimators at low SNR and in the finite sample size case, especially when weak signals are superimposed on the strong signals.

As standard unit root tests are empirically proved to fail to reject the null hypothesis of a unit root for many economic and business time series, it is doubtful that most of those series are informative about the existence of a unit root or that those tests are powerful against relevant alternative hypotheses. This study attempts to perform tests of the null hypothesis of stationarity as well as tests of the null hypothesis of a unit root using the time series data of housing prices in the major metropolitan areas. The results of the additional analyses such as lead-lag, cross-correlation and impulse response for testing the statistical interrelationships between the prices are generally found to be consistent.
This study is attempting to examine the possible determinants of the rise of the sex ratio at birth from 106 to 110 in past decade in Taiwan. The basic hypothesis for the sudden rise of the sex ratio at birth is due to a combination of prenatal sex determination and abortion. The reasoning for this hypothesis involves three types of considerations - motivation, norm, and access. The theory is evaluated by analyzing data from birth registration and a large and representative sampie of Taiwanese wives of childbearing age. The empirical data seem to support the theoretical preposition and the basic hypothesis that the rise of the sex ratio at birth in Taiwan is due to a combination of prenatal sex determination and abortion. There is striking evidence of son-preference in the rise of the sex ratio at birth in higher birth order. In 1990 the sex ratio was 119 for third births and 128 for fourth and fifth births compared to the expected 106. Also, the 1991 KAP data indicated that women who have only daughters but no any son are more likely to make prenatal sex screening and terminate their pregnancies in male live births at higher birth order. Obviously, genetic diagnosis through chorionic villus sampling which was available in recent years was misused for prenatal sex determination and sex selective abortion.

This study contributes to the existing literature and tries to analyze the validity of the Fisher hypothesis in the Philippines. Using monthly data from January 1995 to December 2020, the empirical analysis used the Engle-Granger and Johansen cointegration testing technique. The correlation coefficient suggests a strong positive association. All things being equal, a rise in inflation leads to a rise in the nominal interest rate. The unit-root tests show that inflation and the nominal interest rate are both stationary. Based on both Engle-Granger and cointegrating regression Durbin-Watson tests, the nominal interest rate and inflation are cointegrated. Likewise, the results from Johansen cointegration indicate that there exists a long-run relationship between the variables. However, we rejected a one-to-one relationship between nominal interest rate and inflation. The error correction term coefficient (ECM) shows that it is statistically significant suggesting that the nominal interest rate adjusts to the inflation rate with a lag. The Pair-wise Granger Causality test reported a bi-directional causal relationship between nominal interest rate and inflation. Inflation targeting has been the monetary policy framework of choice for most central banks. In essence, the conclusions of this study are useful to central banks because they help them better comprehend the long-run equilibrium relationship between the nominal interest rate and inflation.
