The groundwater hydrographs due to the recharge of water table aquifer resulting from rainfall are simulated by relating the existing linearized method, which is originally the non-linear equation suggested by Boussinesq, to the basin charcteristics. To thes end, the recharge curve is assumed as the skewed distribution of sine curve, and the parameters contained in the equation are determined from the geomorphologic and soil maps. The whole drainage area is divied in order to consider the spatial variation of parameters. The obtained parameters are tried for several cases with different values given arbitrarily to study the aspects of hydrographs according to their variation. This procedures are applied to the natural basin of Bocheong watershed(area:475.5$\textrm{km}^2$) in Korea. As a result, it is shown that considerable uncertainty is expressed for the results obtained with the given values of parameters. Thus, such uncertainty should be precluded to a certain extent by examining and observing the physical characteristics as much as possible for the determination of groundwater flows.
The stream morphologic characteristics of Wonju stream with small watershed are developed with a regular correlation referred to the Horton-Strahler's lows of stream order. Using Manning's formula and the discharges simulated by NWS-PC rainfallrunoff model that has been applied to the adjacent basin for model calibration and verification, the hydraulic characteristics at Wonju bridge are investigated. The peak discharge and the time to peak of unit hydrograph are analyzed by the calculated geomorphologic parameters. Rather primitive as this study is, these results are provided to be used for geomorphologic instantaneous unit hydropraph of ungaged basins including this study area. Through the reestablishment of rating curve and hydrograph with continuous field observations, the hydrologic and hydraulic characteristics of Wonju stream must be presented.
This study aims to quantify the uncertainty that can be induced by the objective function when calibrating SWAT parameters using SWAT-CUP. SWAT model was constructed to estimate runoff in Naesenong-cheon, which is the one of mid-watershed in Nakdong River basin, and then automatic calibration was performed using eight objective functions (R2, bR2, NS, MNS, KGE, PBIAS, RSR, and SSQR). The optimum parameter sets obtained from each objective function showed different ranges, and thus the corresponding hydrologic characteristics of simulated data were also derived differently. This is because each objective function is sensitive to specific hydrologic signatures and evaluates model performance in an unique way. In other words, one objective function might be sensitive to the residual of the extreme value, so that well produce the peak value, whereas ignores the average or low flow residuals. Therefore, the hydrological similarity between the simulated and measured values was evaluated in order to select the optimum objective function. The hydrologic signatures, which include not only the magnitude, but also the ratio of the inclining and declining time in hydrograph, were defined to consider the timing of the flow occurrence, the response of watershed, and the increasing and decreasing trend. The results of evaluation were quantified by scoring method, and hence the optimal objective functions for SWAT parameter calibration were determined as MNS (342.48) and SSQR (346.45) with the highest total scores.
Climate change on the Korean peninsula is progressing faster than the global average. For example, typhoons, extreme rainfall, heavy snow, cold, and heatwave that are occurring frequently. North Korea is particularly vulnerable to climate change-related natural disasters such as flooding and flooding due to long-term food shortages, energy shortages, and reckless deforestation and development. In addition, North Korea is classified as an unmeasured area due to political and social influences, making it difficult to obtain sufficient hydrologic data for hydrological analysis. Also, as interest in climate change has increased, studies on climate change have been actively conducted on the Korean Peninsula in various repair facilities and disaster countermeasures, but there are no cases of research on North Korea. Therefore, this study selects watershed characteristic variables that are easy to acquire in order to apply localization model to North Korea where it is difficult to obtain observed hydrologic data and estimates parameters based on meteorological and topographical characteristics of 16 dam basins in South Korea. Was calculated. In addition, as a result of reviewing the applicability of the parameter estimation equations calculated for the fifty thousand, Gangneungnamdaecheon, Namgang dam, and Yeonggang basins, the applicability of the parameter estimation equations to North Korea was very high.

The stage-discharge relation curve(rating curve) is the basic formula in hydrologic analysis. It plays an important role in converting to the discharge from available flood water level data including the daily mean stage. However, the river induces a cross section change at the gauging station because of the composed material of the river bed and three processes of the stream flow; i.e., erosion, transportation, and sedimentation. Rating curve has to be revised according to the temporal variation of the river bed due to the those factors. In this study, the basic rating curve is developed with respect to the current river bed to convert the existing rating curves and also to seize the hydraulic and geometric characteristics for the temporal variation of the river bed, relationships among the basic rating curve and the existing rating curves, water level, cross sectional area, and flow velocity are analyzed. Indogyo station, which is not only the key station of the Han river but also greatly changed the river bed after completion of the Han river development plan during the year 1983 to 1986, was chosen for the study. In this study, the river bed is assumed in a dynamic equilibrium condition. The basic rating curve is developed using hydrologic data of the physical year of 1987. For a given discharge, relationships for conversion of previous data, stage and velocity, the current one are formulated. To verify the usefulness of the relationships, stage-cross sectional area and stage velocity formula are also derived. Both hydrologic method using continuity equation and statistical method by the rating curve are compared and checked, then the validation of the both are positively shown.
In this study, CN value was estimated by using detailed soil map and land cover characteristic against upper basin of Kumho watermark located on the upper basin of Kumho river and the hydrologic morphological characteristic factors were extracted from the basin by using the DEM document. Also the runoff analysis was conducted by the WMS model in order to study how the assumed CN value affects the runoff characteristic. First of all, as a result of studying the soil type in this study area, mostly D type soil was Identified by the application of the 1987 classification criteria. However, by that in 1995, B type soil and C type soil were distributed more widely in that area. When CN value was classified by the 1995 classification criteria, it was estimated lower than in 1987, as a result of comparing the estimated CNs by those standars. Also it was assumed that CN value was underestimated when the plan for Geum-ho river maintenance was drawn up. As a result of the analysis of runoff characteristic, the pattern of generation of the classification criteria of soil groups appeared to be similar, but in the case of the application of the classification criteria in 1995, the peak rate of runoff was found to be smaller on the whole than in the case of the application of the classification criteria in 1987. Also when the statistical data such as the prediction errors, the mean squared errors, the coefficient of determination and other data emerging from the analysis, was looked over in total, it seemed appropriate to apply the 1995 classification criteria when hydrological soil classification group was applied. As the result of this study, however, the difference of the result of the statistical dat was somewhat small. In future study, it is necessary to follow up evidence about soil application On many more watersheds and in heavy rain.

With population growth, industrialization, and urbanization within the watershed, the hydrologic response changed dramatically, resulting in increases in peak flow with lesser time to peak and total runoff with shortened time of concentration. Infiltration is directly affected by initial soil moisture condition, which is a key element to determine runoff. Influence of the initial soil moisture condition on hydrograph analysis should be evaluated to assess land use change impacts on runoff and non-point source pollution characteristics. The Long-Term Hydrologic Impact Assessment (L-THIA) model has been widely used for the estimation of the direct runoff worldwide. The L-THIA model was applied to the Little Eagle Creek (LEC) watershed and Its estimated direct runoff values were compared with the BFLOW filtered direct runoff values by other researchers. The $R^2$ value Was 0.68 and the Nash-Sutcliffe coefficient value was 0.64. Also, the L-THIA estimates were compared with those separated using optimized $BFI_{max}$ value for the Eckhardt filter. The $R^2$ value and the Nash-Sutcliffe coefficient value were 0.66 and 0.63, respectively. Although these higher statistics could indicate that the L-THIA model is good in estimating the direct runoff reasonably well, the Antecedent Moisture Condition (AMC) was not adjusted in that study, which might be responsible for mismatches in peak flow between the L-THIA estimated and the measured peak values. In this study, the L-THIA model was run with AMC adjustment for direct runoff estimation. The $R^2$ value was 0.80 and the Nash-Sutcliffe coefficient value was 0.78 for the comparison of L-THIA simulated direct runoff with the filtered direct runoff. However there was 42.44% differences in the L-THIA estimated direct runoff and filtered direct runoff. This can be explained in that about 80% of the simulation period is classified as 'AMC I' condition, which caused lower CN values and lower direct runoff estimation. Thus, the coefficients of the equation to adjust CN II to CN I and CN III depending on AMC condition were modified to minimize adjustments impacts on runoff estimation. The $R^2$ and the Nash-Sutcliffe coefficient values increase, 0.80 and 0.80 respectively. The difference in the estimated and filtered direct runoff decreased from 42.44% to 7.99%. The results obtained in this study indicate the AMC needs to be considered for accurate direct runoff estimation using the L-THIA model. Also, more researches are needed for realistic adjustment of the AMC in the L-THIA model.
Recently, natural environment is being forced by the quick increasing of population and industrialization, and especially, capacity and pollution of water resource is being come to the front. It needs to extract the accurate topological and hydrological parameters of watershed in order to manage water resource efficiently. But, these data are processed yet by manual work and simple operation in hydrological fields. In this paper, we presented algorithm that could extract topological any hydrological parameters over Sumjin watershed using GIS and RS and it gives the saving of data processing time and the confidency of data. The extraction procedure of topological characteristics and hydrological parameters is as below. First, watershed and stream are extracted by DEM and curve number is extracted throughout the overlay of landcov map and soil map. Also, we extracted surface parameters like watershed length and the slope of watershed length by Grid computation into watershed and stream. And we gave the method that could extract hydrologic parameters like Muskingum K and sub-basin lag time by executing computation into surface parameters and average SCS curve number being extracted.
Rapid urbanization increases the risk of hydrologic disasters due to the increase of impervious areas in urban areas. Precipitation characteristics can be transformed due to the rise of global temperatures. Thus urban areas with the increased impervious areas are more exposed to hydrological disasters than ever before. Therefore, low impact development practices have been widely installed to rehabilitate the distorted hydrologic cycle in the urban area. This study used the Stormwater Management Model to analyze the water quantity and quality of the Mokgamcheon which had been severely urbanized, considering future climate scenarios presented by various general circulation models (GCMs). In addition the effectiveness of permeable pavement by 27 sub-watersheds was simulated in terms of water quantity and quality considering various GCMs and then the priorities of sub-watersheds were derived using an alternative valuation index which uses the pressure-state-response framework.
Bottled water companies submit monthly hydrologic data including periodical environmental effects investigation, daily water production capacity, water production, water level, water chemistry (pH, EC, temperature) per hour and strictly manage groundwater by periodical analyses. Thus few problems concerning drawdown due to excess intake of groundwater take place. Nevertheless, bottled water companies are imprinted as a contribution to civil affairs resulted regarding groundwater near the companies. Therefore, a new method is required during water balance analysis in environmental effects evaluation, which should be compatible with the evaluation by hydrologic experts as well more accessible to non-experts. In this study, water level of surface water and recharge rate in subcatchment where water production wells are located were measured and monthly baseflow rates were separated from normal streams. Besides, recharge properties of groundwater and surface water in the same catchment area were estimated using analyses of oxygen and hydrogen isotopes in groundwater (production well), surface water, and rainfall.
