The selection of Cement types is greatly dependent on the structural requirement and consturction location associated with control of hydration heat, acquisition of early strength, existence of sulfate attacks and so on. Based on this, this study adresses the comparison of physical properties of concrete according to the use of different cement types. As a result of testing with OPC, blast furnace slag and low heat cement, it is found that concrete made with low heat cement is much better in term of hydration heat and permeability. It is also recommended to select a preper cement type depending on structural characteristics.

This study was performed to get basic information about properties of high blaine slag cement(HSC) to use shotcrete(or sprayed concrete and mortar). Particle size distribution, setting time and compressive strength test, analysis like as SEM, DSC thermal analysis, XRD was carried out to investigate principle properties of HSC. Setting time of HSC was delayed slightly, but influence of accelerators was more bigger than ordinary portland cement(OPC). Compressive strength of HSC at 28 days was more higher than OPC regardless of using accelerators. Results of analysis showed early period hydration products of HSC is more small and located widely, because of the interface of between cement particle and water is increased as specific surface of cement increase. From the SEM observation and analysis of DSC and XRD results, aluminates accelerators bring on some hydration products like as calcium aluminium hydrates, alkali free accelerators increases ettringite and monosulfates. Aluminates accelerators has a advantage of setting time and early strength, alkali free accelerators increases strength after 7 days.

Corrosion of steel reinforcment is the most significant factor of deterioration in reinforced concrete structures. Chloride ion is considered one of the most common culprits on the corrosion of steels in concrete. This study is effect of cement hydraulic degree on the chloride binding in hardened cement pastes. With increasing the cement hydration, cement products such as CSH and Ca(OH)2 were increased, and the part of added chloride were binded with them. With respect to A type, in first, the additional contents of chloride of 27.08mM/L in pore solution were reduced as 4.3mM/L at 3 days, 4.0mM/L at 7 days, 3.6mM/L at 28 days.

Generally, the vegetable oil contains glycerin esther and free fatty acid. When the vegetable oil reacts with concrete, the glycerin esther from oil induces saponification by reacting with and hydrolyzing calcium hydroxide from cement hydration. As a result of this saponification, it has been reported the expansion of concrete. although the free fatty acid from vegetable oil, as an acid, can decompose the concrete by producing soluble salt from calcium hydroxide or CSH, the hydration products of cement, there was no report on the harmful oil type for concrete. therefore, in this research, the property change of cement mortar incorporating fly ash was analyzed experimentally by immerging various types of vegetable oils.
The hydration behavior of fly ash and slag on cement paste were investigated. Early stage of hydration reaction was delayed by mixing fly ash and/or slag with cement, but production of C-S-H hydrates by pozzolanic reaction densified the microstructure. The Ca/Si ratio of C-S-H hydrates in OPC and blended cement of fly ash 50%, slag 50%, fly ash+slag 50% were 2.24, 1.80, 1.82 and 1.97, respectively. The C-S-H gel with low Ca/Si ratio showed rather reticulate than needle-like structure.
Recently, in order to reduce a damage of chloride attack and hydration heat in marine concrete structures, blended cement in mixing the marine concrete is widely used. Long term strength development is distinct in concrete with blended cement and it also has excellent resistance to chloride attack and reduction of hydration heat. However, blended cement has a characteristic of relatively low compressive strength in early age of 28 days. On the other hand, a high level of compressive strength is required in the Standard Specification for marine concrete mix design. Such concrete mix design satisfying Standard Specification is effective to chloride attack but disadvantageous for hydration heat reduction due to large quantity of binder. In this study, the material properties of marine concrete considering water-binder ratio and binder type are experimentally investigated. Through the research results, compressive strength in blended cement at the age of 56 days is similar although it has smaller compressive strength at the age of 28 days compared with result of OPC (ordinary portland cement). Even though blended cement has a large water-binder ratio and small unit of binder content, chloride ion diffusion coefficient is still small and hydration heat is also found to be reduced. For meeting the required compressive strength in Standard Specification for marine concrete at 28 days, the increased unit content of binder is needed but the increased hydration heat is also expected.
With the recent continuous expansion of subways, newly created subways tend to have lower locations and wider sections. Furthermore. since box structures and evacuating tunnels are classified into a category of mass-concrete. the thermal-stress, emitted from the inside. causes cracks to structures from the inception of constructing. In this paper, thermal-stress analysis and durability evaluation of box structure were carried out to investigate relationship between durability and parameter causing the heat of hydration. Through the examination, this paper tries to find out satisfactory solutions to regulated thermal crack and ensure the required duration period. The results of this paper showed that to control thermal crack and guarantee the required duration period it was more effective to use low-heat-portland cement and moderateheat-portland cement. As cement volume due to reduction of water-cement ratio increased, the possibility of thermal cracks occurrence increased but results of durability evaluation was different depending on evaluation method. The results showed that the appropriate water-cement ratio to control the heat of hydration and satisfy the required durability was $45\∼55\%$. And it was showed that during placement of concrete blocks ambient temperature affect the heat of hydration. thermal crack and long-term durability largely and when concrete was placed at low temperature to control thermal crack. it need to try to guarantee the required duration period. Henceforth, by studying not only internal and external conditions, such as the relative humidity and the unit weight. but also methods, to evaluate durability, in accordance with domestic situations, more reasonable design of durability should be achieved.
Fluidity, setting time, hydration heat, bond water ratio, compressive strength, SEM and BET of OPC were measured by adding 1.0 wt% KCl and replacing 20 wt% mineral admixture in order to examine effects of blast furnace slag (BFS), limestone powder (LSP), and fly ash (FA) on fluidity and strength development of the cement contained much chloride. In general, the cement contained much chloride was high in heat of hydration, short in its setting time, low in its fluidity and low in its strength at 28 days due to the rapid hydration in its initial stage. As a result of the experiment, it has been demonstrated that fluidity became improved but the compressive strength at 28 days was decreased as replaced LSP to the cement contained much chloride. the fluidity and compressive strength at 28 days was improved as replaced BFS, the initial compressive strength development was improved due to the activation of initial reaction by KCl. Fluidity, initial compressive strength and late compressive strength at 28 days of cement contained much chloride replaced 5 wt% LSP and 15 wt% BFS concurrently was better than OPC, but the hydration heat was lower.

This study carried out to evaluate the hydration heat analysis and fundamental characteristics such as air content, slump and compressive strength for field application of low heat concrete with premixed cement. The results of experiment show that low heat concrete with premixed cement have sufficient performances on the workability and compressive strength. In addition, hydration heat analysis shows that low heat concrete with premixed cement make sure of target thermal cracking index. Therefore, it is desirable to apply the low heat concrete with premixed cement on pier foundation-column.

Presently, mass concrete structures are being built in federal and private projects of civil infrastructures and building structures. The hydration heat of mass concrete structures is the most important factor in the quality of concrete matrix and construction period. Moreover, internal cracks caused by hydration heat degrades durability, water tightness, and strength of concrete. To reduce hydration heat, it is necessary to blend belite cement (${\beta}-C_2S$) with industrial by-products (i.e. granulated slag and fly ash). In this experiment, 14 levels of binary binders and 4 levels of ternary binders were used to understand the effect of different replacement ratio on hydration heat, strength and microstructure (i.e. SEM and XRD) of mortar. Cumulative hydration heat at 28 days for the binary and ternary binders was affected by replacement ratio of fly ash and/or granulated slag. As fly ash content increased, hydration heat decreased. As granulated slag content increased, reduction rate of the hydration heat was lower than when fly ash was used. Especially, the hydration heat of ternary binder blended with 40% flyash and 30% granulated slag showed about 50% of hydration heat from using belite cement (P). The study results showed that the temperature rise of concrete matrix can be decreased by using blended belite binders producing low hydration heat and reasonable strength.
