  • Information plays an important role in modern society. Most of the information is processed and moved in the digital space. In cyberspace, confidential communication based on resistance and security is fundamental. It is essential to protect the information sent and received over the network. However, information may be leaked and forged by unauthorized users. The effectiveness of the existing protection system decreases as an innovative technique is applied to identify the communication contents by a third party. Steganography is a technique for inserting secret information into a specific area of a medium. Stegganography and steganalysis techniques are at odds with each other. A new and sophisticatedly implemented system is needed to cope with the advanced steganalysis. To enhance step-by-step diffusion and irregularity, I propose a hybrid implementation technique of image steganography for Hangul messages based on layered encryption and variable ShiftRows. PSNR was calculated to measure the proposed steganography efficiency and performance. Compared to the basic LSB technique, it was shown that the diffusion and randomness can be increased even though the PSNR decreased by 1.45%.

  • We demonstrate the desert beetle back mimicking hybrid superhydrophilic/superhydrophobic patterned surface by using the combination method of colloidal lithography and gravure offset printing for nano and micro patterning, respectively. The two methods are cost-effective and industrially available techniques compared to the other nano/micro patterning methods. To verify the water collecting function of the hybrid surface, the water condensation behavior is investigated on the chilled surface in ambient temperature and high humidity. Due to the synergetic effect of drop and film wise condensation, the hybrid superhydrophobic/superhydrophilic surface shows the higher efficiency than one of single wettability surfaces. The work is underway to get the good patterns of hybrid surfaces for water collecting from the dew or fog.

  • In this paper, we propose a new hybrid ARQ scheme to consider real-time and non real-time services in a wireless ATM network. Real-time and non-real-time services require different error control schemes according to each service characteristics. Therefore, in the next generation mobile communication environments where these service scenarios should be deployed, hybrid ARQ scheme using RCPC code with variable coding rate becomes one of the most suitable solutions. Because the variable coding rate is applied according to traits of transmitted frame and channel status, hybrid ARQ scheme using RCPC code can expect UEP effect. The UEP scheme does not apply equal error protection level to all information, but does high error protection level to more important information. In Our scheme, UEP of high error protection level is applied to real-time service, and UEP of low error protection and retransmission techniques are applied to non real-time service. We show that the proposed hybrid ARQ scheme improves channel utilization efficiency and yields high error correction behaviors.

  • This paper proposes a Truncated Type-II Hybrid ARQ scheme using an adaptive modulation system to achieve high throughput data transmission systems for mobile communication systems. In this paper, the adaptive modulation system analyzed in Nakagami (m-distribution) fading channel environment. The adaptive modulation system controls the modulation level and symbol rate according to the Nakagami fading parameter(m). When the received $E_bN_0$ is high or the Nakagami fading parameter m is high, the propose system selects higher modulation level and higher symbol rate to increase throughput. On the other hand, this system selects lower modulation level and lower symbol rate to prevent throughput performance degradation when the received $E_bN_0$ is low. The modulation method have been adopted QPSK(Quadrature Phase Shift Keying), 16 QAM(Quadrature Amplitude Modulation), 64 QAM, 256 QAM. Therefore, Adaptive Modulation Systems with Truncated Type-II Hybrid ARQ Scheme is proper for mobile and radio for mobile and radio data communication system that require high reliability and delay-limited applications.

  • PID controllers are simple in structure and easy for implementation. However, they may produce large overshoots and over-oscillatory responses. Combining PID control with other control techniques often results in advanced hybrid schemes that are able to improve pure PID controllers. This paper proposes hybrid controller for position control system of servo motor. The proposed controller is composed of a subcontroller and a parallel PID controller. The subcontroller improves the transient system performance while the PID controller is mainly responsible for the steady-state system performance. A very promising advantage of this hybrid scheme, in terms of controller synthesis, is that the subcontrollers and controller components can be designed separately. Systematic design methods for various controller components are developed. The proposed hybrid scheme is applied to a DC motor position servo system. The effectiveness of the proposed controller is verified through the computer simulation results.

  • Data races are one of the most difficult types of bugs in concurrent multithreaded systems. It requires significant time and cost to accurately detect bugs in complex large-scale programs. Although many race detection techniques have been proposed by various researchers, none of them are effective in all aspects. In this paper, we compare the performance of five recent dynamic race detection techniques: FastTrack, Acculock, Multilock-HB, SimpleLock+, and causally precedes (CP) detection. We experimentally demonstrate the strengths and weaknesses of these dynamic race detection techniques in terms of their detection capability, running time, and runtime overhead using 20 benchmark programs with different characteristics. The comparison results show that the detection capability of CP detection does not differ from that of FastTrack, and that SimpleLock+ generates the lowest overhead among the hybrid detection techniques (Acculock, SimpleLock+, and Multilock-HB) for all benchmark programs. SimpleLock+ is 1.2 times slower than FastTrack on average, but misses one true data race reported from Mutilock-HB on the large-scale benchmark programs.

  • This paper discusses how to effectively design a next-generation wireless communication system that can possibly provide very high data-rate transmissions and versatile quality services. In order to accommodate the sophisticated user requirements and diversified user environments of the next-generation systems, it should be designed to take an efficient and flexible structure for multiple access and resource allocation. In addition, the design should be optimized for cost-effective usage of resources and for efficient operation in a multi-cell environment. As orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) has turned out in recent researches to be one of the most promising multiple access techniques that can possibly meet all those requirements through efficient radio spectrum utilization, we take OFDMA as the basic framework in the next-generation wireless communications system design. So, in this paper, we focus on introducing an OFDMA-based downlink system design that employs the techniques of hybrid multiple access (HMA) and frequency group (FG) in conjunction with intra-frequency group averaging (IFGA). The HMA technique combines various multiple access schemes on the basis of OFDMA system, adopting the multiple access scheme that best fits to the given user condition in terms of mobility, service, and environment. The FG concept and IFGA technique help to reduce the feedback overhead of OFDMA system and the other-cell interference (OCI) problem by grouping the sub-carriers based on coherence band-widths and by harmonizing the channel condition and OCI of the grouped sub-carriers.

  • In recent, hybrid market segmentation techniques have been widely adopted, which conduct segmentation using both general variables and transaction based variables. However, the limitation of the techniques is to generate incorrect results for market segmentation even though its methodology and concept are easy to apply. In this paper, we propose a novel scheme to overcome this limitation of the hybrid techniques and to take an advantage of product information obtained by customer's transaction data. In this scheme, we first divide a whole market into several unit segments based on the general variables and then agglomerate the unit segments with higher QAP correlations. Each product network represents for purchasing patterns of its corresponding segment, thus, comparisons of QAP correlation between product networks of each segment can be a good measure to compare similarities between each segment. A case study has been conducted to validate the proposed scheme. The results show that our scheme effectively works for Internet shopping malls.

  • Malware is being commercialized and sold on the black market, primarily driven by financial incentives. With the increasing demand driven by these sales, the scope of attacks via malware has expanded. In response, there has been a surge in research efforts leveraging artificial intelligence for detection and classification. However, adversaries are integrating various anti-analysis techniques into their malware to thwart analytical efforts. In this study, we introduce the "Malware Analysis with Dynamic Extraction (MADE)" framework, a hybrid binary analysis tool devised to procure datasets from advanced malware incorporating Anti-Analysis techniques. The MADE framework has the proficiency to autonomously execute dynamic analysis on binaries, encompassing those laden with Anti-VM and Anti-Debugging defenses. Experimental results substantiate that the MADE framework can effectively circumvent over 90% of diverse malware implementations using Anti-Analysis techniques and can adeptly extract relevant datasets.
