  • In the present paper, the characteristics of Mega-Flux$^{(R)}$, JNEX-Core$^{(R)}$, amorphous and ferrite cores are compared to the inductor of buck-boost converters for Hybrid Electric Vehicles. Core losses are analyzed at the condition of 10 kHz sine wave excitations, and permeability fluctuations vs. temperature and magnetizing force will be analyzed and discussed. Under the specifications of the buck-boost converter for 20 kW THS-II, the power inductor will be designed with Mega-Flux$^{(R)}$ and JNEX-Core$^{(R)}$, and informative simulation results will be provided with respect to dc bias characteristics, core and copper losses.

  • Nowadays, the necessity of linear position control motors have been increased in the various fields of the automatic control system. In the recently, the position control motor have disadvantaged in the efficiency and economical view since it require a conversion equipments such as belt and gear in order to convert rotary to linear motion. On the contrary, the hybrid linear stepping motor(HLSM) of linear motion digital actuator has a direct drive method that do not need mechanical conversion equipments. Therefore, the HLSM is better advantaged in the efficiency and economical view than a rotary stepping motor. In this paper, we have designed an optimum tooth shape and a permanent magnet value between the mover teeth by the 2D finite element method(FEM) to develop the HLSM with longitudinal flux machine(LFM) type, and calculated the thrust force and normal force. And we have manufactured the prototype of it. and have experimented the thrust force and the dynamic thrust characteristics of it.

  • This paper proposes a high efficiency hybrid generator which has a winding and PM(Permanent Magent) field together. The PM field can supply the enough flux to generate the no-load output voltage, and the field winding current can supply the flux to compensate the voltage drop from the load. Furthermore, the PM exciter can supply the enough power for the field of the generator. The detailed design and the FEM analysis are presented to verify the proposed hybrid generator. Then the experimental results shows the effectiveness of the proposed system.

  • We present investigations of a hybrid type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL), which consists of transformers and resistive superconducting elements. The secondary windings of the transformer were separated into several electrically isolated circuits and linked inductively with each other by mutual flux, each of which has a superconducting current limiting element of $YBa_2Cu_3O_7$ (YBCO) stripes as a current limiting element. Simple connection in series of the SFCL elements tends to produce ill-timed quenching because of power dissipation unbalance between SFCL elements. Both electrical isolation and mutual flux linkage of the elements provides a solution to power dissipation unbalance, inducing simultaneous quench and current redistribution of the YBCO films. This design enables to increase the voltage rating of SFCL with given YBCO stripes.

  • The three-dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes equations have been solved by a node-centered finite volume method with unstructured hybrid grids. The pressure-velocity coupling is handled by the artificial compressibility algorithm and convective fluxes are obtained by Roe's flux difference splitting scheme with linear reconstruction of the solutions. Euler implicit method with Jacobi matrix solver is used for the time-integration. The viscous terms are discretised in a manner to handle any kind of grids such as tetragedra, prisms, pyramids, hexahedra, or mixed-element grid. Inviscid bump flow is solved to check the accuracy of high order convective flux discretisation. And viscous flows around a circular cylinder and a sphere are studied to show the efficiency and accuracy of the solver.

  • This paper proposes the hybrid PWM scheme that can obtain less harmonic characteristics in GTO inverters. By employing the variable of the dc-link voltage Vdc, the hybrid PWM pattern can ideally compensate the dc input fluctuation together with selected harmonics elimination. The transient behavior, which the magnetic flux and torque are altered and the large current flows instantly, may be produced when the mode change. To reduce such an undesirable transient behavior, it is also presented the technique for the gear changing of inverter operated with the hybrid PWM. The results are verified by simulations and experiments.

  • In general, combustion characteristic of hybrid propulsion was shown with the regression rate depending on only massflow rate of oxidizer But this empirical relation was not represented well effect of the thermo-chemical properties of solid fuel. So, in this study, the combustion characteristics was studied with the mass transfer number(B number) of solid fuel instead of regression rate with various fuel. The PMMA, PP, and PE were used as fuel, and gas oxygen as oxidizer in this experiment. The mass flowrate of gas oxigen was controlled by the several chocked orifices that have different diameter, and the oxidizer supply range was $3.66\sim45.3g/sec$. As result, the empirical relation for mass flux of solid fuel was obtained with mass transfer number, and mass flux of oxidizer as follow; $\dot{m}^{'}_f\;=\;0.0175G^{0.55}B^{0.4}$.

  • This study investigated phosphorus removal from secondary treated effluent using coagulation-membrane separation hybrid treatment to satisfy strict regulation in wastewater treatment. The membrane separation process was used to remove suspended phosphorus particles after coagulation/settlement. Membrane separation with $0.2{\mu}m$ pore size of micro filtration membrane could reduce phosphorus concentration to 0.02 mg P/L after coagulation with 1 mg Al/L dose of polyaluminum chloride (PACl). Regardless of coagulant, the residual concentration of phosphorus decreased as the dose increased from 1.5 to 3.5 mg Al/L, while the target concentration of 0.05 mg P/L or less was achieved at 2.5 mg Al/L for the aluminum sulfate (Alum) and 3.5 mg Al/L for PACl. Moreover, alum showed better membrane flux as make bigger particles than PACl. Alum showed a 40% of flux decrease at 2.5 mg Al/L dose, while PACl indicated a 50% decrease of membrane flux even with a higher dose of 3.5 mg Al/L. Thus, alum was more effective coagulant than PACl considering phosphorus removal and membrane flux as well as its dose. Consequently, the coagulation-membrane separation hybrid treatment could be mitigate regulation on phosphorus removal as unsettleable phosphorus particles were effectively removed by membrane after coagulation.

  • The combustion characteristic of solid fuel with chamber pressure were experimentally studied in hybrid combustion. This paper was experimental confirmed whether solid fuel affected not only oxidizer mass flux but also chamber pressure. Poly-Ethylene(PE) was used as fuel, GOX was used as oxidizer. Chamber pressure was controled by nozzle throat diameter 6mm and 9mm. In low oxidizer mass flux, solid fuel regression rate was affected not only oxidizer mass flux but also chamber pressure. As well, the regression rate increase as chamber pressure increase with same oxidizer mass flux.

  • In this study, the combustion characteristics was studied with various oxidizer in hybrid propulsion system. In this experiments $GN_2O$ and GOX were used as oxidizer, and PE was used as fuel. The combustion behavior was explained by flame temperature with mass O/F ratio, and the use of $GN_2O$ as the oxidizer caused a increase in combustion efficiency with GOX in the same hybrid motor. The mass flow rate of gaseous oxidizer was controlled by the several chocked orifices that have different diameter, and the oxidizer supply range was $0.0138{\sim}0.0427kg/sec$. As result, the empirical relation for oxidizer type was represented by mass flux of solid fuel, it was obtained with mass transfer number, and mass flux of oxidizer.
