During the last four years, the pyrosequencing-based 454 platform has rapidly displaced the traditional Sanger sequencing method due to its high throughput and cost effectiveness. Meanwhile, the Sanger sequencing methodology still provides the longest reads, and paired-end sequencing that is based on that chemistry offers an opportunity to ensure accurate assembly results. In this report, we describe an optimized approach for hybrid de novo genome assembly using pyrosequencing data and varying amounts of Sanger-type reads. 454 platform-derived contigs can be used as single non-breakable virtual reads or converted to simpler contigs that consist of editable, overlapping pseudoreads. These modified contigs maintain their integrity at the first jumpstarting assembly stage and are edited by fragmenting and rejoining. Pre-existing assembly software then can be applied for mixed assembly with 454-derived data and Sanger reads. An effective method for identifying genomic differences between reference and sample sequences in whole-genome resequencing procedures also is suggested.

The objective of this work is to analyze by traction tests, the mechanical behavior of an assembly of type metal / metal by various assembly processes; bonding, riveting and hybrid, on the one hand to show the advantage of a hybrid assembly with respect to the other processes, and on the other hand, to analyze by the finite element method the distribution of the stresses in the various components of the structure and to demonstrate the effectiveness of the use of a hybrid assembly with respect to other processes. The number of rivets has been considered. The results show clearly that the value of the different stresses is reduced in the case of a hybrid junction and that the number of rivets in an assembly can be reduced by using a hybrid joint.

In this paper, a microassembly system based on hybrid manipulation schemes is proposed and applied to the assembly of a photonic component. In order to achieve both high precision and dexterity in microassembly, we propose a hybrid microassembly system with sensory feedbacks of vision and force. This system consists of the distributed 6-DOF micromanipulation units, the stereo microscope, and haptic interface for the force feedback-based microassembly. A hybrid assembly method, which combines the vision-based microassembly and the scaled teleoperated microassembly with force feedback, is proposed. The feasibility of the proposed method is investigated via experimental studies for assembling micro opto-electrical components. Experimental results show that the hybrid microassembly system is feasible for applications to the assembly of photonic components in the commercial market with better flexibility and efficiency.

A hybrid structure composed of magnesium and steel is Instrument Panel structure used for the basement of cockpit module components. For that reason, A hybrid structure has to be designed for satisfying components assembly design facility and styling. There are various models of If like steel structure assembly, however having been applied normally, but magnesium structure assembly selected far saving weight down. This paper introduces a hybrid structure having advantages between steel and magnesium structure and presents a CAE technical solution based on a development project. furthermore, it provides desired direction of the future development is suggested.
This paper describes a scheduling problem of the panel block assembly shop in a shipbuilding industry. Because the shipbuilding is a labor intensive industry the most important consideration in a panel block assembly shop is the workload balancing. which balances man-hour weight and welding length and so on. It should be determined assembly schedule and workstation considering a daily load balancing and a workstation load balancing simultaneously. To solve the problem we develop a hybrid genetic algorithm. Hybrid genetic algorithm proposed in this paper consists of two phases. The first phase uses the heuristic method to find a initial feasible solution which provides a useful information about optimal solution. The second phase proposes the genetic algorithm to derive the optimal solution with the initial population consisting of feasible solutions based on the initial solution. Finally we carried out computational experiments for this load balancing problem which indicate that developed method is effective for finding good solutions.
The objective of our study is to analyze the behavior of bonded, riveted and hybrid (bonded / riveted) steel / steel assemblies by tensile tests and to show the advantage of a hybrid assembly over other processes. the finite element method with the ABAQUS numerical code was used to model the fracture behavior of the different assemblies. Cohesive zone models (CZM) have been adopted to model crack propagation in bonded joints using a bilinear tensile separation law implemented in the ABAQUS finite element code. The riveted assemblies were modeled with the XFEM damage method identified in this ABAQUS numerical code. Both CZM and XFEM methods are combined to model hybrid assemblies. The results are consistent with the experimental results and make it possible to guarantee the validity of the applied numerical model. The use of a hybrid assembly shows a high resistance compared to other conventional methods, where the number of rivets has been highlighted. The use of the hybrid assembly improves mechanical strength and increases service life compared to a single lap joint and a riveted joint.

Latest developments on hybrid nanostructured materials fabricated by applying self-assembly strategies on organic/inorganic nanotemplates are discussed. Within this frame, numerous functional nanomaterials including arrays of composite metal/semiconductor nanoparticles, planar waveguides and functional multilayer thin films are generated using self-assembled polymers as templates or building blocks. In particular, surface plasmon resonance based optical sensing is employed to investigate nanofabrication processes occurring in nanoscale dimention. We also suggest unprecedented pathways to hybrid supramolecular multilayer nanoarchitectures in 1D or 2D geometry via layer-by-layer self-assembly.
PacBio's long-read sequencing technologies can be successfully used for a complete bacterial genome assembly using recently developed non-hybrid assemblers in the absence of second-generation, high-quality short reads. However, standardized procedures that take into account multiple pre-existing second-generation sequencing platforms are scarce. In addition to Illumina HiSeq and Ion Torrent PGM-based genome sequencing results derived from previous studies, we generated further sequencing data, including from the PacBio RS II platform, and applied various bioinformatics tools to obtain complete genome assemblies for five bacterial strains. Our approach revealed that the hierarchical genome assembly process (HGAP) non-hybrid assembler resulted in nearly complete assemblies at a moderate coverage of ~75x, but that different versions produced non-compatible results requiring post processing. The other two platforms further improved the PacBio assembly through scaffolding and a final error correction.
We need many assembly lines to produce industrial product such as automobiles that require a lot of composited parts. Big portion of such assembly line are still operated by manual works of human. Such manual works sometimes cause critical error that may produce artifacts. Also, once the assembly is completed, it is really hard to verify whether of not the product has some error. In this paper, for monitoring behaviors of manual human work in an assembly line automatically, we proposes a realtime hybrid monitoring system that combines 2D vision sensor tracking technique with 3D motion recognition sensors.

The application of the theoretical model to real assembly lines has been one of the biggest challenges for researchers and industrial engineers. There should be some realistic approach to achieve the conflicting objectives on real systems. Therefore, in this paper, a model is developed to synchronize a real system (A discrete event simulation model) with a theoretical model (An optimization model). This synchronization will enable the realistic optimization of systems. A job assignment model of the assembly line is formulated for the evaluation of proposed realistic optimization to achieve multiple conflicting objectives. The objectives, fluctuation in cycle time, throughput, labor cost, energy cost, teamwork and deviation in the skill level of operators have been modeled mathematically. To solve the formulated mathematical model, a multi-objective simulation integrated hybrid genetic algorithm (MO-SHGA) is proposed. In MO-SHGA each individual in each population acts as an input scenario of simulation. Also, it is very difficult to assign weights to the objective function in the traditional multi-objective GA because of pareto fronts. Therefore, we have proposed a probabilistic based linearization and multi-objective to single objective conversion method at population evolution phase. The performance of MO-SHGA is evaluated with the standard multi-objective genetic algorithm (MO-GA) with both deterministic and stochastic data settings. A case study of the goalkeeping gloves assembly line is also presented as a numerical example which is solved using MO-SHGA and MO-GA. The proposed research is useful for the development of synchronized human based assembly lines for real time monitoring, optimization, and control.
