It is essential to maximize the advantages of long-life housing in consideration of the occupants' demands in order to promote the construction of long-life housing. The diverse plan types with flexibility should be developed based on those demands. Therefore, this study aims to review the level of awareness of long-life housing, and identify the customer needs by conducting the survey for the preference to pre-defined plan types. The results of survey are as follows: 1) Despite the enforcement of the Long-life Housing Certification System in 2014, the recognition among the customers about the long-life housing is still on the low level as shown in that 79.9% of respondents were not aware of the long-life housing; 2) For three alternative plan types, 78.5% on the integration type in front, 63.1% on the moving kitchen type, 47.0% on the Divided Housing type had intention to change; 3) 68.9% of the total are willingly ready to purchase the long-life housing under the condition of no difference in price between normal apartment and long-life housing. The less the number of family members is, the bigger this ratio of positive purchase intention is. Reflecting these results into the designs is expected to contribute to the enhancement of customer satisfaction as well as the diffusion of long-life housing.
The main object of this research was to study the better housing business by the Architectural Association of Chosun. The Architectural Association of Chosun was founded in 1992 and it influenced great deal on the development of Korean architecture. The Architectural Association of Chosun took the first step in business by holding the Better Housing Plan Competition which was the first housing plan competition in Korea, Also, it meant the enlightenment of better cultural housing. Since most domestic apartment, built in bearing wall system limiting variability of space, in spite of its good durability, cannot accept life style change and is being wasted, dumped scraps of which cause environmental pollution and waste of resources. As a response for this, researches on sustainable housing, that is, 'long-life housing' which has high durability, and variability responding life style change of the resident are in progress in and out of country. Therefore, this article aims, in suggesting the various status appearing on apartment and the interior plan responding the problem, to research on the house plan in the future which can be used continuously instead consuming type of apartment shortly used and discarded with understanding of long-life housing developed in foreign countries, and grasping the factors of application plan. Various reports from previous researches were comparatively analyzed and the studies on the characteristics, the real examples and the types of the surfaces were performed on the experimental model of long-life housing and similar residential surfaces to find the concept to be applied to Long-Life Housing and the introduction method of such concept. This article tries not only to prevent 'scarp and build', the serious cause of environmental pollution, but also to be basic materials for interior construction plan afterwards through 'long-life housing interior design plan' as the new conception which can accept life style and life cycle change.
The purpose of this study is to identify pre-elderly's housing mobility related characteristics (reasons for moving, change of personal life after move, housing attachment, and plan to future move) and to examine the associations between their socio-demographic characteristics and housing characteristics, and their housing mobility related characteristics. A total of 200 usable data were collected through personal survey using a questionnaire developed by the researcher. Samples were selected in Seoul and new towns in the capital area and a survey conducted from February, 2014 to December, 2014. For the analyses, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, t-test and ANOVA were used. The most frequently mentioned reasons for moving were 'a good place for nature and retirement life'. Age, education level, liiving expenses, locaion, tenure status, and housing size were the variables to show significant difference to reasons for moving. Respondents experienced positive personal life changes after moving, especially, 'physical health' and outgoing activity'. Respondents who moved to a new town was more positively changed. Personal life changes was the most important variable associated with 3 factors of housing attachment. Location, tenure status, housing size were the major variables to show differences to housing attaachment. Also, personal life changes after moving and housing attachment were the important variables affecting a plan to future move. In other words, the respondents who do not plan to future move showed higher positive life change and strong housing attachment.
This study is to analyze dwelling environmental planning in old age of middle age. For this purpose. the data were collected by using questionnaire distributed to 332. The data were analyzed by Chisquare test. The major findings of this research were as follow: 1. In housing plan of old age. they prefer new house .that is not exisiting house. independent house and ordindry housing region in the suburbs of urban. 2. It is 69.3~99 square meter what size of house is suitable for independent life of aged person for living with children. it is 102.3~132 square meter. 3. In the stage of independent or semi-independent life. they want aged couple-independent life. In the stage of dependent life. they want to be cared with children. 4. The garden(madang) is the most important space for age couple in establishing housing plan. They want to amplity life recuperation center and job providing facilities. In old age housing project. they prefer housing type with facility that combine old age house with young age house. According to increasement of dependence. the service support system required flexi-care-system.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the state of the living arrangement plan, the housing plan, and economic plan for elderly's life and contributing factors to their life plan. The sample in this study consisted of 713 middle-aged and aged couple living in Korea. Statistics employed for the analysis were frequencies, means, x2 test, logit analysis and multiple regression. The results could be summarized as follows. The middle-aged and aged couple were planning to live independently in their elderly life. The husband's age, religion, living area, total income, total asset, home owenership had significant effects on the living arrangement of the middle-aged and aged. They had a plan to live in single detached house in their elderly life. And husband's age, educational attaintment, job, and living region were affecting the housing type in their elder life. The middle-aged and aged people had a economic plan that they estimated 970,000 won as living cost in their elderly life. And the factors affecting living costs were husband's educational attaintment, job, and total asset.
This study examines the details and characteristics of prizewinning plans of Cho-Sun housing plan competition promoted by Daily Cho-Sun Company during Japanese colonial period. The main features of Cho-Sun housing plan competition were that the competition held with an application of popular newspaper readers and a judging committee was composed of only Korean architects, especially Park, Gil-Ryong as the president of the board of examiners. Cho-Sun housing plan competition put ideological factors for the improvement of living as like advancing to the cultured(modem) life, respecting for family life, respecting for privacy of family members and so on. First of all, the competition suggested the direction of the improvement of dwelling spaces which focused on making harmonious home life. This study found common characteristics of prizewinning plans of Cho-Sun housing plan competition as the result. First, Cho-Sun housing plan competition introduced a centralized house plan as a model of the improvement of small-sized houses. Second, architectural orders of western or Japanese style mingled with ones of korean traditional style in prizewinning plans as entrance hall, western style reception room(parlour), maid's room, bathroom for example. And a manner of seating using chairs was brought into the style of living which would be assumed in the prizewinning plans. Third, traditional way of composing dwelling spaces was maintained, receiving the characteristics of dwelling spaces of japanese style simultaneously, which central corridor was put at the heart of house for improving arrangement of rooms and flow lines. Fourth, lavatory and bathroom were placed inside of the house.

The purpose of this study was to identify current housing status and housing awareness such as housing values, satisfaction, and preferences among households with one child. Data were obtained from a questionnaire completed by both husbands and wives living in metropolitan area and aged between 25 and 45. Selected variables were the age, education level, and employment status of housewives, ideal number of children, monthly income, plan to give birth, and so on. Using purposive sampling method, five hundred questionnaires were administered and 360 questionnaires were analyzed. In accordance with the questions related to housing values, housing satisfaction of respondents was examined. In order to compare the housing values, preferences, and satisfaction among diverse variables of respondents, mean, t-test, F test, Duncan's multiple range test, $x^2$ test, and factor analysis were used. The major findings of this study are as follows: First, there were significant differences in current housing type, tenure type, and floor area according to housewives' age, education level, monthly income, and plan to give birth. Interestingly, households not having a plan to give birth in the future were living in larger house than the households having a plan to give birth. Second, housing values of households with one child were divided into 4 factors-environmental comfort, economy and convenience, social status symbolism, and adequacy of space planning. Items related to privacy showed the biggest difference between housing values and housing satisfaction. Third, most of the respondents wanted larger house than current housing. However, the need for quality of housing including floor area and amenities was significantly higher among households not having a plan to give another birth than households having a plan to give birth in the future.
