1. Purpose Rural tourism is made by individuals with different characteristics, needs and wants. It is important to have information on the characteristics and preferences of the consumers of the different types of existing rural accommodation. The stud aims to identify the determinants of consumer preference by type of accommodations. 2. Methodology 2.1 Sample Data were collected from 1000 people by telephone survey with three-stage stratified random sampling in seven metropolitan areas in Korea. Respondents were chosen by sampling internal on telephone book published in 2006. We surveyed from four to ten-thirty 0'clock afternoon so as to systematic sampling considering respondents' life cycle. 2.2 Two-step cluster Analysis Our study is accomplished through the use of a two-step cluster method to classify the accommodation in a reduced number of groups, so that each group constitutes a type. This method had been suggested as appropriate in clustering large data sets with mixed attributes. The method is based on a distance measure that enables data with both continuous and categorical attributes to be clustered. This is derived from a probabilistic model in which the distance between two clusters in equivalent to the decrease in log-likelihood function as a result of merging. 2.3 Multinomial Logit Analysis The estimation of a Multionmial Logit model determines the characteristics of tourist who is most likely to opt for each type of accommodation. The Multinomial Logit model constitutes an appropriate framework to explore and explain choice process where the choice set consists of more than two alternatives. Due to its ease and quick estimation of parameters, the Multinomial Logit model has been used for many empirical studies of choice in tourism. 3. Findings The auto-clustering algorithm indicated that a five-cluster solution was the best model, because it minimized the BIC value and the change in them between adjacent numbers of clusters. The accommodation establishments can be classified into five types: Traditional House, Typical Farmhouse, Farmstay house for group Tour, Log Cabin for Family, and Log Cabin for Individuals. Group 1 (Traditional House) includes mainly the large accommodation establishments, i.e. those with ondoll style room providing meals and one shower room on family tourist, of original construction style house. Group 2 (Typical Farmhouse) encompasses accommodation establishments of Ondoll rooms and each bathroom providing meals. It includes, in other words, the tourist accommodations Known as "rural houses." Group 3 (Farmstay House for Group) has accommodation establishments of Ondoll rooms not providing meals and self cooking facilities, large room size over five persons. Group 4 (Log Cabin for Family) includes mainly the popular accommodation establishments, i.e. those with Ondoll style room with on shower room on family tourist, of western styled log house. While the accommodations in this group are not defined as regards type of construction, the group does include all the original Korean style construction, Finally, group 5 (Log Cabin for Individuals)includes those accommodations that are bedroom western styled wooden house with each bathroom. First Multinomial Logit model is estimated including all the explicative variables considered and taking accommodation group 2 as base alternative. The results show that the variables and the estimated values of the parameters for the model giving the probability of each of the five different types of accommodation available in rural tourism village in Korea, according to the socio-economic and trip related characteristics of the individuals. An initial observation of the analysis reveals that none of variables income, the number of journey, distance, and residential style of house is explicative in the choice of rural accommodation. The age and accompany variables are significant for accommodation establishment of group 1. The education and rural residential experience variables are significant for accommodation establishment of groups 4 and 5. The expenditure and marital status variables are significant for accommodation establishment of group 4. The gender and occupation variable are significant for accommodation establishment of group 3. The loyalty variable is significant for accommodation establishment of groups 3 and 4. The study indicates that significant differences exist among the individuals who choose each type of accommodation at a destination. From this investigation is evident that several profiles of tourists can be attracted by a rural destination according to the types of existing accommodations at this destination. Besides, the tourist profiles may be used as the basis for investment policy and promotion for each type of accommodation, making use in each case of the variables that indicate a greater likelihood of influencing the tourist choice of accommodation.
Objectives : The aim of this study was to investigate whether Doppler ultrasound device is applicable for the evaluation of facial palsy patients. Methods : A total of 25 patients participated in the first assessment and 22 of them finished a follow-up assessment one week later. An assessment comprised of a Minimax-Doppler-K device examination on bilateral acupoints $ST_5$, $SI_{19}$, $ST_2$, and $BL_1$, House-Brackmann grading, and subjective symptom questionnaire. Measurement reliability was assessed and clinically meaningful variations of Doppler measurement values were explored. Results : Doppler ultrasound examination revealed a significant difference of some measurement values between values of the symptom side and the contralateral side, between groups of severe paralysis and moderate paralysis, and between groups of short duration(0-3 weeks) and long duration (3 weeks-5 months) by non-parametric analyses (p<0.05). Several re-examination values showed a significant correlation with the first examination values by Spearman's correlation tests (p<0.05). Conclusions : This study revealed several possibilities for the clinical application of this device. Further validity tests and device improvements for a user's convenience would be helpful for its practical application.
Housing can be defined as the vessel containing human life and each country has considerably different form and culture of it. This study aims to understand the society's common cultural values of house selection, decision making, an various housing issues. Consequently, applying a multidisciplinary approach, this project seeks to explore the correlations between people and housing, and between society and housing, to better understand the thought and culture of the housing residents. In order for doing it, adopting cultural value of housing as a tool, a comparative cultural study of housing values in East Asia starting from Korea and China will be conducted. Through such a comparative cultural study, it will be ultimately possible to grasp the locality and uniqueness of specific cultures with more clarity. A survey using questionnaire was conducted on 126 Korean Students and 145 Chinese students who are studying at K University in Seoul on a random sampling basis. The results of survey are as follow. Both Korean and Chinese college students gave higher values on neighborhood environment, convenience of transportation, privacy and safety, and to be given a higher value. On the other hand, they gave lower values on the symbolism of social status. Korean university college students gave higher considerations in the list of , , and than Chinese. Chinese college students gave higher consideration in the list of , and than Koreans. Even though this study has some limitations in generalizing the findings, we can understand the identity of Koreans and Chinese through the comparative study.
This experiment investigated the characteristics of salted and fresh Chinese cabbages of different cultivars and using various cultivation methods. We measured the numbers of leaves, sizes, thicknesses, moisture contents, and firmness qualities of fresh Chinese cabbage grown in a plastic house, and outdoors. 'The bulb sizes, leaf thicknesses, and moisture contents of leaves were higher after plastic house cultivation than after growth in the field. Plastic house culture increased the growth rate of Chinese cabbage. Firmness and osmolarity showed better values after outdoor cultivation, however. The growth rates and the levels of chemical components were affected by interactions between cultivation methods and cultivars of Chinese cabbage. The salt levels of salted Chinese cabbage were 1.21.7% (w/w) after cabbages cultivated outdoors were preserved, and 0.91.2 % (w/w) after vegetables grown in a plastic house were treated. The quality properties of postharvest Chinese cabbages after salting varied with cultivation method even when the same cultivars of Chinese cabbage were used. The salt contents of salted Chinese cabbage thus varied with different cultivation methods. The results indicate that the properties of Chinese cabbage vary with the culture systems adapted.
The purpose of this study is to compare the thermal insulation performance of windows according to the formation of air layer and to evaluate its energy efficiency on a selected standard house. A thermal insulation test, KS F 2278 was used to measure U-values (Heat transmission coefficients) for the following three cases: the first case (Case 1) is a Low-E pair glass (Argon injected), the second case (Case 2) is a Low-E pair glass with the air cap attached on the glass surface, and the third case (Case 3) is a Low-E pair glass, on the frame of which the air cap is attached. The evaluation of the energy efficiency was conducted according to a building energy calculation method from ISO 13790, calculation of energy use for space heating and cooling, using the U-values obtained from the thermal insulation tests. As results of the tests, the U-values of Case 1, Case 2, and Case 3 were $1.668W/m^2{\cdot}K$, $1.568W/m^2{\cdot}K$, and $1.319W/m^2{\cdot}K$ respectively. The Case 2 had about 5.9% lower value than the Case 1, and the Case 3 had about 20.9% lower value than the Case 1. It seems that the thermal performance of the windows is attributed to an increase of the heat resistance and the thickness of air layer. An evaluation of the energy efficiency of the three cases on the selected standard house showed that the amount of heating energy demand per unit area was $7.776kWh/m^2{\cdot}yr$ for the Case $1,6.856kWh/m^2{\cdot}yr$ for the Case 2, and $4.856kWh/m^2{\cdot}yr$ for the Case 3. This study suggests that the formation of air layer (by using air cap) and its thickness should reduce the heat energy demand and thus improve the energy saving efficiency

The objective of the study was to compare the carcass characteristics, meat quality, and blood parameters of slow and fast grown female broiler chickens fed in organic or conventional production system. The two genotypes tested were medium slow-growing chickens (SG, Hubbard Red JA) and commercial fast-growing chickens (FG, Ross 308). Both genotypes (each represented by 400 chickens) were divided into two sub-groups fed either organic (O) or conventional (C) systems. Chickens of each genotype and system were raised in a semi environmentally controlled poultry house until 21 d of age and were assigned to 5 pens of 40 chickens each. Then, O system chickens were transferred into an open-side poultry house with an outdoor run. At 81 d of age, 10 female chickens from each genotype and from each production system (n = 40) were randomly chosen to provide material for analysis, and were weighed and brought to the slaughterhouse to assess carcass characteristics and meat quality. The blood parameters were determined by using 5 female chickens from each genotype and from each production system (n = 20). FG had the higher live weight, along with carcass, breast, and thigh-drumstick weights compared to SG (p<0.05). FG had the higher breast yield, whereas SG had the higher thigh-drumstick yield (p<0.05). The O system resulted in a higher amount of abdominal fat (p<0.05). In addition, the O system values were higher for dry matter, crude ash, crude protein, and $pH^{15}$ values in breast meat, and for crude ash, crude protein, and $pH^{15}$ values in drumstick meat (p<0.05). In addition, total saturated fatty acids, total mono-unsaturated fatty acids, and total omega 3 were significantly higher in the O system than in the C system. Thus, the O system showed a positive advantage compared to the C system regarding female chicken meat quality, primarily within the ash, protein, and total omega 3 fatty acid profiles. In conclusion, the present study indicated that the main factor affecting the carcass characteristics of female chickens was genotype, whereas the organic system contributed to enhanced meat quality. These findings provide a better understanding of the relative roles of genotype and production systems in female broiler characteristics, and might aid producers in designing their facilities to optimize yield and quality while maintaining acceptable animal welfare standards.
The viscoelastic properties of blends of melamine-formaldehyde (MF) resin and poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc) for engineered flooring used on the Korean traditional ONDOL house floor heating system were investigated by dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA). Because MF resin is a thermosetting adhesive, the effect of MF rein was shown across all thermal behaviors. The addition of PVAc reduced the curing temperature. The DMTA thermogram of MF resin showed that the storage modulus (E') increased as the temperature was further increased as a result of the cross-linking induced by the curing reaction of the resin. The storage modulus (E') of MF resin increased both as a function of increasing temperature and with increasing heating rate. From isothermal DMTA results, peak $T_{tan{\delta}}$ values, maximum value of loss modulus (E") and the rigidities (${\Delta}E$) of MF/PVAc blends at room temperature as a function of open time, peak $T_{tan{\delta}}$ and maximum loss modulus (E") values were found to increase with blend MF content. Moreover, the rigidities of the 70:30 and 50:50 MF/PVAc blends were higher than those of the other blends, especially of 100% PVAc or MF. We concluded that blends the MF/PVAc blend ratios correlate during the adhesion process.
The influence on flexural strength of Glass/Epoxy laminated composite curved panels of different geometries (cylindrical, spherical, elliptical, hyperboloid and flat) due to inclusion of nano cenosphere filler examined in this research article. The deflection responses of the hybrid structure are evaluated numerically using the isoparametric finite element technique and modelled mathematically via higher-order displacement structural kinematics. To predict the deflection values, a customised in-house computer code in MATLAB environment is prepared using the higher-order isoparametric formulation. Subsequently, the numerical model validity has been established by comparing with those of available benchmark solution including the convergence characteristics of the finite element solution. Further, a few cenosphere filled hybrid composite are prepared for different volume fractions for the experimental purpose, to review the propose model accuracy. The experimental deflection values are compared with the finite element solutions, where the experimental elastic properties are adopted for the computation. Finally, the effect of different variable design dependent parameter and the percentages of nano cenosphere including the geometrical shapes obtained via a set of numerical experimentation.
To evaluate the impact of nitrogen fertigation on crop growth and $NO_3$-N concentration in the soil solution, field experiment for cucumber cultivation during spring and fall season were carried out in on-farm located in Byeongcheon-myeon, Chunan-si, Chungcheonnam-do. Supplying nitrogen of 120-150 mg/L by fertigation device into soil per week reached to maximum yields of cucumber fruits. However, cucumber growth did not show any significant difference between nitrogen levels. Nitrogen supply of 400 mg/L, highest N levels, did not affect cucumber growth. Difference between green values of cucumber leaves using RGB scores were closely related with cucumber yields, and therefore, this results suggests that green values of cucumber leaves could be used as a way of determining the application rates of nitrogen for cucumber cultivation period under fertigation system.
