  • Interest in flexible transparent conducting films (TCFs) has been growing recently mainly due to the demand for electrodes incorporated in flexible or wearable displays in the future. Indium tin oxide (ITO) thin films, which have been traditionally used as the TCFs, have a serious obstacle in TCFs applications. SWNTs are the most appropriate materials for conductive films for displays due to their excellent high mechanical strength and electrical conductivity. In this work, the fabrication by the spraying process of transparent SWNT films and reduction of its sheet resistance on PET substrates is researched Arc-discharge SWNTs were dispersed in deionized water by adding sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) as surfactant and sonicated, followed by the centrifugation. The dispersed SWNT was spray-coated on PET substrate and dried on a hotplate. When the spray process was terminated, the TCF was immersed into deionized water to remove the surfactant and then it was dried on hotplate. The TCF film was then was doped with Au-ionic doping treatment, rinsed with deionized water and dried. The surface morphology of TCF was characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy. The sheet resistance and optical transmission properties of the TCF were measured with a four-point probe method and a UV-visible spectrometry, respectively. This was confirmed and discussed on the XPS and UPS studies. We show that 87 ${\Omega}/{\Box}$ sheet resistances with 81% transmittance at the wavelength of 550nm. The changes in electrical and optical conductivity of SWNT film before and after Au-ionic doping treatments were discussed. The effect of Au-ion treatment on the electronic structure change of SWNT films was investigated by Raman and XPS.

  • We report dry thermal development of negative resist polystyrene with low molecular weight. When developed on a hotplate at $350^{\circ}C$ for 30 min, polystyrene showed reasonable high contrast and resolution (30 nm half-pitch), but low sensitivity. Resist sensitivity was greatly improved at lower development temperatures, though at the cost of reduced contrast. In addition, we observed the thickness reduction due to thermal development was higher for larger remaining film thickness, implying the thermal development process is not just a surface process and the more volatile chains below the top surface may diffuse to the surface and get evaporated.

  • Spirodela polyrrhiza L. Schleid. (Lemnaceae), also known as 'duckweed', is a traditional medicine in Korea. The whole plant is used to treat many diseases, including the common cold, edema, acute nephritis, and urticaria. The present study investigated antinociceptive properties of the EtOAc soluble fraction of S. polyrrhiza (ESP). The antinociceptive activities of ESP were studied using experimental models of pain, including thermal nociception methods, such as the tail immersion test and the hotplate test. Moreover, we studied chemical nociception induced by intraperitoneal acetic acid and subplantar formalin in mice. ESP exhibited dose-dependent antinociceptive activity in both thermal and chemical pain models. In a drug combination test using the opioid receptor antagonist naloxone, diminished analgesic activities of ESP were observed, indicating that the antinociceptive activity of ESP is mediated by opioid receptors.

  • Pyrrosia lingua has been widely used as a traditional medicine for the treatment of lots of diseases including pain management. However pharmacological and phytochemical studies on its anti-nociceptive properties are extremely limited. In this work, we investigated the effects of methanol extract of Pyrrosia lingua (MPL, 250 and 500 mg/kg) on the both of central and peripheral nociceptive pain. The results from tail-immersion test and hotplate test revealed that MPL has potent anti-nociceptive effects on thermal nociception. In addition, MPL efficiently reduced the acetic acid-induced chemical nociception compared to indomethacin. We also carried out formalin test and MPL reduced formalin-induced pain response on both phases, suggesting MPL has antinociceptive activities on the central and peripheral pain. In combination test using naloxone, anti-nocicpetive activity of MPL was reduced, indicating that MPL acts as a partial opioid receptor agonist. These results suggest that MPL may be possibly used as a valuable natural product-derived painkiller.

  • Despite the wealth of data concerning the roles of ${\alpha}-CGRP$ in nociceptive behaviors, ${\alpha}-CGRP-null$ mice showed no obvious phenotypic differences in nociceptive behaviors from wild type. The present studies specifically demonstrate that ${\alpha}-CGRP$ null mice showed no CGRP immunoreactivity from the spinal cord, implying that CGRPs in the mice spinal cord are mainly a-isoforms. However, the nociceptive behaviors of the null mice are not significantly different from the wild type mice in thermal nociceptive behaviors on hotplate, chemical nociception tests to intraplantar capsaicin or formalin injection, and visceral pain behaviors to intraperitoneal acetic acid or magnesium sulfate injections. These data suggest that ${\alpha}-CGRP$ is dispensable for nociceptive behaviors or that compensatory mechanisms may exist to overcome the absence of this peptide.
