  • Hyper-eutectic Al-Si alloy is used much to automatic parts and material for the electronic parts because of the low coefficient of thermal expansion, superior thermal stability and superior wear resistance. In this work, A390 alloy specimens were fabricated for control of the Si particle size by various processes, such as spray-casting, permanent mold-casting and squeeze-casting. To minimize the effect of microporosity of the specimens, hot extrusion was carried out under equal condition. Each specimens were evaluated tensile properties at room temperature and thermal expansion properties in the range from room temperature to 400$^{\circ}C$. Ultimate tensile strength and elongation of the spray-cast and extruded specimens which have fine and well distributed Si particles were improved greatly compare to the permanent mold-cast and extruded ones. Specimens which have finer Si particles showed higher ultimate tensile strength and elongation than those having large Si particle size, and coefficient of thermal expansion of the specimens increased linearly with Si particle size. In case of the repeated high temperature exposures, thermal expansion properties of the spray-cast and extruded specimens were found to be more stable than those of the others due to the effect of fine and well distributed Si particles.

  • A range of techniques have been being developed to remove the volatile organic compounds from paining processes. High temperature decomposition of harmful VOCs using arc plasma has recently been proposed, and this work analyzed the extreme hot process by computer-aided fluid dynamics prior to the reactor design. Numerical simulations utilized the conservation equations of mass and momentum. The simulation showed that the fluid flowed down along the inner surface of the centrifugal reactor by forming intensive spiral trajectories. Although the high temperature gas generated by plasma influences the bottom of the reactor, no heat transfer in radial direction appeared. The decomposition efficiency of a typical VOCs, toluene, was found to be a maximum of 67% across the reactor, which was similar to the value (approximately 70%) for the lab-scale test.

  • Nature of magnetic creep phenomena in low coercive force films(Ni 80%-Fe 20%) in form of narrow channels imbedded in high coercive force films is studied in this work. Aluminium is evaporated on the hot glass substrate and eched free in the shape of narrow channels by photoetoetching method. then, Permalloy(Ni 80%, Fe 20%) is deposited on these Aluminium substrate under the uniform field of 30(Oe) to introduce anisotropy. Permalloy film on Al has a high coercive force and one on the substrate devoid of Al has how coercive force. Magnetic revers domain which is introduced at the end of channel grows under the a.c field in hard axis direction, in spite of very weak d.c field in easy axis direction. This creeping is investigated as a function of external fields and channel widths. Permalloy film thickness is 500.angs.-900.angs. and channel widths are 40, 51, 65, 81, 115.mu. respectively. Creeping increases as external field increases while it decreases with channel width decrease. Creep velocity in channels depends on the a.c field along hard axis, d.c field along easy axis and channel widths and its range is 1-10cm/sec in this experiment. From study of dependence of creep velocity on channel width, it can be concluded that creep velocity is expressed in form of v=v$_{0}$ exp .alpha.(H-H$_{0}$) where .alpha. is a function of a.c field along hard axis and H is driving d.c field along easy axis, H$_{0}$ is not a coercive force of film as usuall expected but the d.c threshold field along easy axis which is a function of channel width. This characteristic is also confirmed by the study of dependence of creep velocity upon easy axis field strength. Value of .alpha. obtained is 1.3-2.3cm/sec We depending upon film charactor, hard axis field strength and frequency.uency.

  • Parsimon juice dyeing is the one of the most popular natural dyeing methods which have been done traditionally among the farmers. The clothes dyed with parsimon juice has several merits, that is, it become much more durable, cool, easy to wash and wear after dyeing and these merits are the reason why people likes to wear the parsimon juice dyeing clothes as work wear. Especially in Cheju province, parsimon juice clothes became a folk costume and many people still enjoy wearing it in the hot summer days. But one of the demerits of parsimon dyeing is that the possible period of dyeing is very short. So, if parsimon juice dyeing could be done with the preserved parsimon juice, it would be possible to enlength the period. With this idea, we compared the color and colorfastness of fabrics which were dyed with 4 kinds of parsimon juice. The experimental parsimon juice 96-8 was preserved during 13 months, 96-9 was 12 months, 97-8 was 1 month and 97-9 was not preserved one. The experimental fabrics were cotton, silk. nylon and polyester fabrics. The results were as follows ; 1. The colors of fabrics dyed with experimental parsimon juice 96-9, 97-8, 97-9 were yellow-red and dyeing states were good. But the colors of fabrics dyed with 96-8 were dark and the state were bad, because the color of experimental parsimon juice 96-8 was changed during preservation. 2. The best state of dyeing could see in the fabrics dyed with experimental parsimon juice 97-8, although that was preserved 1 month. 3. There were differences of color between experimental fabrics dyed with same juice and the colors were thicker in cotton and silk than in nylon and polyester fabrics. 4. During wetting and drying process, the color changes in fabrics dyed with no preserved one were more than in fabrics dyed with preserved ones. 5. The color fastness to the light of the dyed fabrics was over 4, to the acidic perspiration was 3~4 or 4~5, to the alkaline perspiration was 2, 3 or 3~4 and to the washing was 1~2. There was no significant difference in colorfastness between the 96-9 dyed fabrics and 97-9 dyed fabrics.

He opened a shop on Capri in 1949 and in 1950 he founded "Emilio", his couture house. His fortune was simple silk jersey chemises and very strong prints using bold colour in abstract patterns. A pucci print was immediately recognizable and, although often based on medieval heraldic banners of the sort waved at the "Siena Palio", so utterly of the moment that it could be taken as a classic symbol of the late 1950s and early 1960s. He was a brilliant colourist and his colours became the colours of the decade: hot pink, lime blue, purple. He seemed able to capture the sun and fun of Italy in his print and, along with Galitzine, he can take the credit for creating the concept of relaxed, informal elegance in Italian faslion.ian faslion.

  • For the quantitative analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOC), the use of a proper solvent is crucial to reduce the chance of biased results or effect of interference either in direct analysis by a gas chromatograph (GC) or with thermal desorption analysis due to matrix effects, e.g., the existence of a broad solvent peak tailing that overlaps early eluters. In this work, the relative performance of different solvents has been evaluated using standards containing 19 VOCs in three different solvents (methanol, pentane, and hexane). Comparison of the response factor of the detected VOCs confirms their means for methanol and hexane higher than that of pentane by 84% and 27%, respectively. In light of the solvent vapor pressure at the initial GC column temperature ($35^{\circ}C$), the enhanced sensitivity in methanol suggests the potential role of solvent vapor expansion in the hot injector (split ON) which leads to solvent trapping on the column. In contrast, if the recurrent relationships between homologues were evaluated using an effective carbon number (ECN) additivity approach, the comparability assessed in terms of percent difference improved on the order of methanol (26.5%), hexane (6.73%), and pentane (5.24%). As such, the relative performance of GC can be affected considerably in the direct injection-based analysis of VOC due to the selection of solvent.

  • Considering the fuel consumption of car, a light structure of aluminum alloys is desired fer car body nowadays. However, fusion welding of aluminum alloys has some problems of reduction of joint efficiency, porosity formation and hot cracking. In the present work, investigation to improve the joint performance of laser welded joint has been carried out by addition of Cu, Ni, and Zr to A6NO 1 alloy welds. Aluminum alloy plate of 2.Omm in thickness with filler metal bar was welded by twin beam Nd: YAG laser facility (total power: 5kW). The filler metals were prepared by changing the chemical compositions for adding the elements into the weld metal. Thirteen filler metal bars were prepared and pre-placed into the base metal before welding. Ar gas shielding with a flow rate of 10 1/min was used. The defocusing distance is kept at 0 mm. At travel speeds off 3 to 9 and at laser power of 5kW (front beam 2kW rear beam 3kW), full penetration welds were obtained, whereas at travel speeds of 12 to 18 m/min and same power, partial penetration was observed. The joint efficiency of laser-welded joint was improved by the addition of Cu, Ni, and Zr due to the solid solution hardening, grain refining and precipitation hardening. The type of hardening has been further considered by metallurgical examination.

  • In this study, joining methods with SiC powder as the joining adhesives were studied in order to avoid the residual stresses coming from CTE (Coefficient of Thermal Expansion) mismatch between substrate and joining layer. The shear strength and microstructure of joined material between SiC substrates are investigated. The commercial Hexoloy-SA (Saint-Gobain Ceramics, USA) used in this work as substrate material. The fine ${\beta}$-SiC nano-powder which the average particle size is below 30 nm, $Al_2O_3$, $Y_2O_3$, and $SiO_2$ were used as joining adhesives. The specimens were joined with 20MPa and $1400-1900^{\circ}C$ by hot pressing in argon atmosphere. The shear test was performed to investigate the bonding strength. The cross-section of the joint was characterized by using an optical microscope and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

  • The BTA drilling chip is better for deep hole drilling than other self-piloting with pad drilling chips because the large length to diameter ratio allows a unique cutting force dispersion and better supplies the high pressure fluid. Therefore the BTA is useful for many tasks, such as coolant hole drilling of large scale dies, as well as tube seat drilling, which is essential for the heat exchanger, and variable component drilling for automobiles. Deep hole drilling has several significant problems, such as hole deviation, hole over-size, circularity, straightness, and surface roughness. The reasons for these problems, which often result in quality short comings, are an alignment of the BTA drilling system and the unbalance of cutting force by work piece and tool shape. This paper analyzes the properties through an experiment which com¬pared single-edge BTA drills with multiple-edge BTA drills, as well as the shapes of the tools to cause an unbalance of cutting force, and its effect on the precision of the worked hole. Conclusions are as follows. 1) In SMSSC drilling, 60m/min of BTA with single and multi-edged tools proved the best cutting condition and the lowest wear character. 2) The roundness got a little worse as cutting speed was increased, but surface roughness was hot affected. 3) It was proved that the burnishing torque of both drills approached 26%. which is almost the same as the 24% insisted on by Griffiths, and the dispersion characteristic of the multi-edged BTA drill proved better than the single-edge BTA drill.

  • In order to control the root-zone temperature of greenhouse crops in the hydroponics at hot and cold season, heat pump system for cooling and heating was built and tested in this work. The system was air-to-water type and vapour compression type. The heating and cooling mode was selected by the four way valve. Capacity of the compressor was 3.75㎾ and heat transfer area of the evaporator and the condenser were 3.05㎡ and 0.6㎡, respectively. According to the performance test, it could supply heat of 42,360 to 64,372kJ/h depending on the water circulation rate of 600 to 1,500ℓ/h, respectively, when indoor air temperature was 10∼20$\^{C}$. COP of heat pump system was 3.0 to 4.0 in the heating mode. But, COP of the cooling mode was 1.3 to 2.1 at indoor temperature of 20∼35$\^{C}$. The feasibility test in the greenhouse the developed heating and cooling system was installed, showed that the heating cost of the developed system was only about 13% of that of the conventional heating system. The heating cost of the developed system was 367won/day(electric consumption 9.7㎾h/day), while that of the conventional system was 2,803won/day(oil consumption 7.7ℓ/day) at the same heating mode.
