An improvement for the efficiency of the $Sr_{2}SiO_{4}:Eu$ yellow phosphor under the $450{\sim}470\;nm$ excitation range have been achieved by adding the co-doping element ($Mg^{2+}\;and\;Ba^{2+}$) in the host. White LEDs were fabricated through an integration of an blue (InGaN) chip (${\lambda}_{cm}=450\;nm$) and a blend of two phosphors ($Mg^{2+},\;Ba^{2+}\;co-doped\;Sr_{2}SiO_{4}:Eu$ yellow phosphor+CaS:Eu red phosphor) in a single package. The InGaN-based two phosphor blends ($Mg^{2+},\;Ba^{2+}\;co-doped\;Sr_{2}SiO_{4}:Eu$ yellow phosphor+CaS:Eu red phosphor) LEDs showed three bands at 450 nm, 550 nm and 640 nm, respectively. The 450 nm emission band was due to a radiative recombination from an InGaN active layer. This 450 nm emission was used as an optical transition of the $Mg^{2+},\;Ba^{2+}\;co-doped\;Sr_{2}SiO_{4}:Eu$ yellow phosphor+CaS:Eu red phosphor. As a consequence of a preparation of white LEDs using the $Mg^{2+},\;Ba^{2+}\;co-doped\;Sr_{2}SiO_{4}:Eu$ yellow phosphor+CaS:Eu red phosphor yellow phosphor and CaS:Eu red phosphor, the highest luminescence efficiency was obtained at the 0.03 mol $Ba^{2+}$ concentration. At this time, the white LEDs showed the CCT (5300 K), CRI (89.9) and luminous efficacy (17.34 lm/W).

Probiotics beneficially affect the health of the host via various mechanisms in the intestine. Recent developments in probiotic products have mainly been made to maximize probiotic effects in human. In this regard, probiotic products containing doubly coated or encapsulated cells, multi-species probiotics, or high viable cell number (1010 viable cells/gram or more) have been developed and are already available in the market. Until now, the majority of probiotics contain live cells but little attention has been paid to other alternative products such as heat-killed cell or bacteriocin-containing ones, which could have broad applications due to advantages over live cell-based probiotics, such as safety and stability. In addition, genetically engineered lactic acid bacteria could be of great importance in the field of alimentary health if they are carefully designed for biological safety. Although a number of probiotics are marketed by claiming health benefits, regulations for health claims will be more stringent. Therefore sufficient scientific and clinical evidences supporting the safety and efficacy of the potential probiotic strain will be required by the regulatory authority for a health claim, which thus may have a huge impact on the future probiotic market.
The Nambu orebodies of the Okbang tungsten mine are hosted in the Precambrian amphibolite and Weonnam formation. These orebodies can be classified into two types; The scheelite-bearing ore vein occurring in the amphibolite (the Nambu 1, 2 adits) and tungsten-bearing quartz vein along the contact between the amphibolite and the Weonnam formation (the Young-ho, -1, -2, -3 levels). The scheelite-bearing ore vein in the amphilbolite is discontinuous, narrow, and highly irregular in geometry, occurring only within the amphibolite with which of the vein is graduational. Based on these feature of the mode of occurrence, the origin of this ore type might be attributed to a potential segregation of tungsten ore fluid in situ from hornblenditic basic magma of the host rock. Tungsten-bearing quartz vein, however, is considered to have deposited along the N30-60E trending fractures as a later hypothermal vein after the hornblendite was emplaced. The principal ore mineral is scheelite with minor amount of wolframite, and the gangue minerals are quartz, and small amounts of fluorite, pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite and calcite. Fluid inclusion study of minerals from the Nambu orebody reveals that the fluids in fluorite of the scheelite-bearning ore vein attained a temperature range of $208{\sim}256^{\circ}C$ and those in quartz from the tungsten-bearing quartz vein a temperature range of $220{\sim}357^{\circ}C$. The real formation temperatures can be somewhat higher than filling temperatures, if pressure correction is made. Chemical analysis of 8 amphibolitc samples on major and some trace elements indicate that the amphibolite is igneous origin. On a Niggli diagram (al-alk)versus c, the analytical values are plotted on an igneous field, and on a Niggli diagram mg versus c they follow a karroo igneous trend line. According to the Ba, Cr, and Ni versus Niggli mg plots suggested by Leake (1964), Okbang amphibolite fall outside a pelitic field and compare favorably with his plots form ortho-amphibolites. Analitical values of $MoO_3$ of 8 samples of scheelite minerals from the Nambu orebody indicate that the tungsten-bearing quartz vein (type n) of Nambu orebody shows a range from 1. 69% to 4.38% which is higher than 0.94%~3.25% $MoO_3$ for the scheelite-bearing ore vein (type I). This fact indicates that the type II was deposited in a lower $fO_2/higher$$fO_2$ environment and under lower temperature than the type I. Analysis of major components $WO_3$, MnO, and FeO of 6 samples of wolframite from the type II veins revealed that they contain 73.35~76.2% $WO_3$, 7.94~11.63% MnO, and 10.53~14.82% FeO. MnO/FeO ratios of wolframite shows the range of 0.85~1.17 which suggests a slightly higher temperature type of deposits than other major tungsten deposits in the country.
Sclerotium rot was observed on mungbean (Phaseolus radiatus L.) plants cultivated in the exhibition field of Gyeongsangnam-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services in September 2015. The progression of rot was initially observed as water-soaked lesions on several parts of the affected plant. Severely infected plants were blighted and eventually died. White mycelial mats spread over the lesions and numerous sclerotia formed on stems near the soil line. The sclerotia were globoid in shape, 1~3 mm in size, and white to brown in color. The optimum temperature for mycelial growth and sclerotia formation on potato dextrose agar (PDA) was $30^{\circ}C$ and the hyphal width was $4{\sim}8{\mu}m$. Typical clamp connections were observed on the hyphae of fungus grown on PDA. For molecular identification, the complete internal transcribed spacer (ITS) ribosomal DNA (rDNA) of the causal fungus was sequenced and analyzed. Based on the mycological characteristics, ITS rDNA sequence analysis, and pathogenicity to host plants, the fungus was identified as Sclerotium rolfsii. This is the first report of Sclerotium rot on mungbean caused by S. rolfsii in Korea.
Laboratory studies have revealed that naturally transformable bacteria develop competence under in situ conditions. Thus, the occurrence of competent bacteria in the environment can be considered as a certainty The persistence of free DNA in natural habitats is influenced by nucleolytic degradation and protection from degradation by adsorption to minerals. Although DNA seeded into natural environment was hydrolysed at substantial rates, but was still detectable at low levels after even several weeks. Compared to the number of laboratory based studies, only a few data have been published dealing with transformation of bacteria in the field. Recently, the potential transfer of recombinant DNA (rDNA) from deliberately or accidentally released bacteria to indigenous microbes has raised biosafety issues, since the persistence of rDNA becomes independent of the survival of its original host and leads to unpredictable, long-term ecological effects. The aim of the present review is to summarise recent literature on horizontal gene transfer (HGT) by transformation among bacteria in both soil and aquatic habitat and special emphasis is placed on recent reports which have addressed HGT among bacteria in the field. Undifferentiated mesencymal stem cells(UMSCs) have been thought to be multipotent cells that can replicate as undifferentiated cells and that have the potential to differentiate into lineages of mesenchymal tissue including the bone, cartilage, fat, tendon, muscle, and marrow stroma. It can be used to sinus lifting, Guided bone regeneration, other bone graft in dental part. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of mesencymal stem cells on sinus augmentation with autogenous bone, fibrin glue mixture in a rabbit model. 8 New Zealand white rabbits were divided randomly into 4 groups based on their time of sacrifice(1, 2, 4 and 8 weeks). First, undifferentiated mesenchymal stem cells were isolated from iliac crest marrow of rabbits and expanded in vitro. cell culture was performed in accordance with the technique described by Tsutsumi et al. In the present study, The animals were sacrificed at 1, 2, 4 and 8 weeks after transplantation, and the bone formation ability of each sides was evaluated clinically, radiologically, histologically and histomorphologically. According to the histological observations, Stem cell group showed integrated graft bone with host bone from sinus wall. At 2 and 4weeks, It showed active newly formed bone and neovascularization. At 8 weeks, lamella bone was observed in sinus graft material area. Radiologically, autobone with stem cell showed more radiopaque than autobone without stemcell. there were significant differences in bone volume between 2 and 4 weeks (p<0.05). In summary, the autobone with stem cells had well-formed, newly formed bone and neovasculization, compared with the autobone without stem cells (esp. 2 weeks and 4 weeks) The findings of this experimental study indicate that the use of a mixture of mesenchymal stem cell yielded good results in osteogenesis and bone volume comparable with that achieved by autogenous bone. Therefore, this application of this promising new sinus floor elevation method for implants with tissue engineering technology deserves further study.

We have developed new type of superconducting-superionic conducting nanohybrids, $Ag_xI_wBi_2Sr_2Ca_{n-1}Cu_nO_y$ (n=1 and 2) by applying the chimie douce reaction to the superconducting Bi-based cuprates. These nanohybrids can be achieved by the stepwise intercalation whereby the $Ag^+$ ion is thermally diffused into the pre-intercalated iodine sublattice of $IBi_2Sr_2Ca_{n-1}Cu_nO_y$. According to the X-ray diffraction analysis, the Ag-I intercalates are found to have an unique heterostructure in which the superionic conducting Ag-I layer and the superconducting $IBi_2Sr_2Ca_{n-1}Cu_nO_y$ layer are regularly interstratified with a remarkable basal increment of ~7.3$\AA$. The systematic XAS studies demonstrate that the intercalation of Ag-I accompanies the charge transfer between host and guest, giving rise to a change in hole concentration of $CuO_2$ layer and to a slight $T_c$ change. The Ag K-edge EXAFS result reveals that the intercalated Ag-I has a $\beta$-AgI-like local structure with distorted tetrahedral symmetry, suggesting a mobile environment for the intercalated $Ag^+$ ion. In fact, from ac impedance analyses, we have found that the Ag-I intercalates possess a fast ionic conductivity ($\sigma_i=10^{-1.4}\sim 10^{-2.6}\Omega^{-1}\textrm{cm}^{-1}\;at\;270^{\circ}C$ with an uniform activation energy ($\DeltaE_a=0.22\pm 0.02$ eV). More interesting finding is that these intercalates exhibit high electronic conducting as well as ionic ones ($t_i$=0.02~0.60) due to their interstratified structure consisting of superionic conducting and superconducting layers. In this respect, these new intercalates are expected to be useful as an electrode material in various electrochemical devices.

In this study, we showed that Mycobacterium abscessus MAB2560 induces the maturation of dendritic cells (DCs), which are representative antigen-presenting cells (APCs). M. abscessus MAB2560 stimulate the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines [interleukin (IL)-6, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-${\alpha}$, IL-$1{\beta}$, and IL-12p70] and reduce the endocytic capacity and maturation of DCs. Using $TLR4^{-/-}$ DCs, we found that MAB2560 mediated DC maturation via Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4). MAB2560 also activated the MAPK signaling pathway, which was essential for DC maturation. Furthermore, MAB2560-treated DCs induced the transformation of $na\ddot{i}ve$ T cells to polarized $CD4^+$ and $CD8^+$ T cells, which would be crucial for Th1 polarization of the immune response. Taken together, our results indicate that MAB2560 could potentially regulate the host immune response to M. abscessus and may have critical implications for the manipulation of DC functions for developing DC-based immunotherapy.

The geochemistry of the $CO_2$-rich waters ($Pco_2\leq$about 1 atm) in NE part of the Kangwon province was investigated. The $CO_2$-rich waters can be divided to three types based on chemical compositions: Na-$HCO_3$, Ca-Na-$HCO_3$and Ca-$HCO_3$types. The water chemistry indicates that these type waters were evolved through reaction with host rocks by supply of deep-seated $CO_2$during deep circulation, and their geochemical environments in depth might have been different each other. The dissolution process of plagioclase is important in water/granite interactions and its solubility change according to reaction temperature played an important role in the determination of chemical compositions. The higher reaction temperature coincides with the lower different in solubility between albite and anorthite. It means that calcium is mainly released to the water in the lower temperature, whereas sodium in the higher temperature due to high Na/Ca ratio in plagioclase. The application of various chemical geothermometries on the $CO_2$-rich waters shows that the calculated reservoir temperature of Na-$HCO_3$type (about 15$0^{\circ}C$) is higher than those of Ca-$HCO_3$type. Therefore, we now interpret the recognized chemical difference was mainly due to the difference of reaction temperature. Considering normal thermal gradient, we can understand that the Na-$HCO_3$type was evolved from deeper crustal depth than the Ca-$HCO_3$type.
Multinational corporations' overseas R&D activities bring host countries positive effects such as knowledge spillover, technology transfer, job creation and etc. For this reason, many countries have made efforts to attract foreign firms' R&D investment in their national territories. Korean government have also implemented some policy measures to expedite foreign firms operating in Korea to increase R&D activities. However, the firms' R&D investment in Korea has still been unsatisfactory, and only few studies have examined this issue. Therefore, this study attempts to explain the R&D investment of foreign firms operating in Kore, from the perspective Dunning's eclectic paradigm. Utilizing linear regression and Tobit model, this study analyzes the influence of OLI advantages on R&D intensity of foreign firms in Korea. The result shows that locational advantages of Korea (such as revealed technological advantage) had positive influences on foreign firms' R&D intensity. However, the influence of other OLI advantages were different by foreign firms' nationalities. For instance, internalization advantages had influences on R&D intensity, but the directions were different between Japanese and other nationalities. Based on the results, we provided some discussion and attempted to draw implications for Korean government's FDI and R&D policy.
