  • In this paper, we consider locally compact Hausdorff spaces having the closed unit interval of the real line as the remainder for an ESH-compactification and obtain that in the class of compact maps the extensions of homotopic maps on the respective ESH-compactifications remain homotopic under certain conditions.

  • By considering a hyperspace CL(X) of a Hausdorffspace X with the Vietoris topology [6] also called the finite topology and treating X as a subspace of CL(X) with the natural embedding, it is obtained that homotopic maps f, g : $X{\rightarrow}Y$ are lifted to homotopic maps on the respective hyperspaces.

  • The definitions and techniques, which deals with homotopic harmonic maps from a compact Riemannian manifold into a compact metric space, developed by N. J. Korevaar and R. M. Schoen [7] can be applied to more general situations. In this paper, we prove that for a complicated domain, possibly noncompact Riemannian manifold with infinitely generated fundamental group, the existence of homotopic harmonic maps can be proved if the initial map is simple in some sense.

  • We show that if a simple $C^*$-algebra A satisfies certain $K_1$-group conditions, then two unitarily equivalent projections are homotopic. Also we show that the equivalence of projections determined by a dimension function is a homotopy.

  • In this paper, we study a strong k-deformation retract derived from a relative k-homotopy and investigate its properties in relation to both a k-homotopic thinning and the k-fundamental group. Moreover, we show that the k-fundamental group of a wedge product of closed k-curves not k-contractible is a free group by the use of some properties of both a strong k-deformation retract and a digital covering. Finally, we write an algorithm for calculating the k-fundamental group of a dosed k-curve by the use of a k-homotopic thinning.

  • If a virtual knot diagram can be transformed to another virtual one by a finite sequence of crossing changes, Reidemeister moves and virtual moves then the two virtual knot diagrams are said to be homotopic. There are infinitely many homotopy classes of virtual knot diagrams. We give necessary conditions by using polynomial invariants of virtual knots for two virtual knots to be homotopic. For a sequence S of crossing changes, Reidemeister moves and virtual moves between two homotopic virtual knot diagrams, we give a lower bound for the number of crossing changes in S by using the affine index polynomial introduced in [13]. In [10], the first author gave the q-polynomial of a virtual knot diagram to find Reidemeister moves of virtually isotopic virtual knot diagrams. We find how to apply Reidemeister moves by using the q-polynomial to show homotopy of two virtual knot diagrams.

  • In this paper, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for an essential simple loop on a 2-bridge sphere in an even Heckoid orbifold for the trivial knot to be null-homotopic, peripheral or torsion in the orbifold. We also give a necessary and sufficient condition for two essential simple loops on a 2-bridge sphere in an even Heckoid orbifold for the trivial knot to be homotopic in the orbifold.

  • For topological spaces X, Y and the function f : X → Y, it induces a function gr(f) : X → X x Y defined as gr(f)(χ) = (χ, f(χ)), for every χ ∈ X. It deals with some preliminary investigations relating to the behavior of functions and its graph functions. It has also been found that continuous functions are homotopic if and only if their graph functions are homotopic.
