The implementation of home network systems In ubiquitous computing environments requires middleware that provides a method to control and operate home appliance devices. The Universal Plug and Play (UPnP), which is based on the IPv4 protocol and running on a PC, consists of UPnP devices that provide relevant services and control points that control the devices. However, It is inappropriate to Implement UPnP devices on a PC, since the implementation on a PC requires much space and electrical power. In this paper, a small embedded home network device equipped with UPnP middleware is implemented on an embedded GNU/Linux system running on an ARM9 platform, in order to deal with such problems.

홈 네트워크 환경에서 디바이스는 동적으로 네트워크에 연결되고, IP 주소를 얻고, 자신의 기능을 알리고, 다른 디바이스의 존재 및 기능을 파악할 수 있다. 이런 과정 이후 디바이스는 서로 직접 통신을 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 디바이스들 사이에 대칭키를 이용하여 상호인증을 수행하는 디바이스의 안전한 검색방법을 제안하고자 한다. 이 방법은 홈서버를 사용하여 홈 네트워크 디바이스들에게 대칭키를 분배한다. 이 키를 사용하여 흠 디바이스들 사이의 상호인증이 수행되어진다. 이것은 미들웨어의 제어하에 두 디바이스가 안전하게 통신할 수 있는 기능을 제공한다.

다양한 종류의 임베디드 시스템이 폭넓게 사용됨에 따라, 임베디드 정보 가전에 접근하고 제어할 수 있는 홈 네트워크 미들웨어에 관한 연구가 활발히 진행 중이다. 그러나 제한된 저장 공간과 낮은 컴퓨팅 능력은 홈 네트워크 기술을 임베디드 시스템에 적용했을 때 심각한 문제를 발생시킨다. 본 논문에서는 홈 네트워크 미들웨어의 실제 성능을 강화하기 위해 이동성 관리를 지원하는 경량 미들웨어를 제시한다. 이동성 관리는 애니캐스트 기술을 적용하여 구현하였으며, IP 기반의 홈 네트워크는 서비스(디바이스)가 노출되어 있기 때문에 사용자의 신원을 확인하는 인증과 정근에 관한 보안 기술을 제안한다.

This paper presents the analyzed result of the series arc fault current by using the discrete wavelet transform. The series arcing is caused by a loose connection in series with the load circuit. The series arc current is limited to a moderate value by the resistance of the device connected to the circuit, such as an appliance or a lighting system. The amount of energy in the sparks from the series arcing is less than in the case of parallel arcing but only a few amps are enough to be a fire hazard. Therefore, it is hard to detect the distinctive difference between a normal current and a intermittent arc current. This paper, presents the variation of the ratio of peak values and RMS values of the series arc fault current, and proposes the novel series arc fault detecting method by using the discrete wavelet transform. Loads such as a CFL lamp, a vacuum cleaner, a personal computer, and a television, which has the very similar normal current with the arc current, were selected to confirm the novel method.

본 연구에서는 백색가전 제품의 특성에 맞는 임베디드 시스템 플랫폼 디자인을 제안한다. 프로세서는 최근 더욱 각광을 받고 있는 ARM 계열의 디바이스를 사용하였으며 운영체제는 임베디드 시장에서 급부상하고 있는 리눅스를 대상으로 한다. 본 연구는 백색가전 제품군 전체를 대상으로 하고 전자레인지를 이용하여 시제품을 구현하였다. 특히 백색가전은 제품의 특성상 제조원가에 민감한 제품이므로 메모리 등 시스템의 자원 사용을 최소화하여 제조원가를 낮추는 방향으로 디자인의 방향을 정해야 한다. 하드웨어 비용은 현실적으로 거의 시장에서 정해진 비용의 범주를 크게 벋어나지 못하겠으나 소프트웨어의 크기는 접근하는 방법에 따라 차이가 날 수 있다. 이에 본 논문은 가능한 탑재될 리눅스의 커널 크기를 줄이며 파일시스템 및 기타 라이브러리의 크기를 최소화하여 백색가전에 적합한 플랫폼을 제시하는데 주목적이 있다.

Technology adoption for information appliance, which is expected to grow rapidly in the near future, is different from other technologies in that it is mainly used in the home environment when the customers haven't experienced it before. This paper finds important variables from prior research about technology adoption and develops a measurement model that fits for the information appliance. Pretest and pilot studies for the model is conducted in order to guarantee content validity, reliability, convergent validity and discriminant validity. Finally, LISREL analysis is used for finding out the causality among variables and testing for model fitness. The results indicate that three factors that influence behavioral intention are attitude, subjective norm and perceived behavioral control. Attitude is influenced by attitudinal belief, which consists of perceived usefulness, trialability, result demonstrability, image and enjoyment. Perceived behavioral control is influenced by control belief that consists of rapid change in technology, cost and ease of use. This paper ends with implications and limitations of study results.

The goal of this study is to develop treatment methods for improving the noise quality of Home Appliance Drain Pumps. Developed treatment methods covers the various methods including the control of the water level through the developed electronic circuity and the various modifications over the design of impeller and fan units. In the first part of the studies Dominant noise sources of the pumps are analyzed. Specific noise problems of the pumps are classified on the basis of mechanic and magnetic origins. Factors including the pressure variations at suction head, magnetic interactions with structure, specific fan noises are studied sequentially. The second part of the studies are considered for development and application of treatment methods. Results denoted the basic problems and ways to improve the noise quality by treating the dominant soureces of drain pumps.

The purpose of this study of identify the changing trends of consumer behavior to emergencing Price-off store. Therefore this study analyzed contributing factors to consumer market selection behavior focused on electric appliances. for these research the data were collected through the questionnaire and 407 respondents were housewives in Seoul and Gyeongi-do. Their data were analyzed using Frequency Mean and $x^2$-test. The Major findings of this study were as follows. 1) The percentage of purchasing the national brands of electric appliances were majority. In general the frequency prefered shopping store were the general agents department store discount store and wholesale club were in order. 2) When consumer buy the electric appliance in wholsesale club the buying percentage of iron was the highest. And the percentage of selection of foreign goods brands were very high. 3) The most important factors to determine the using Price-off store was the presence of this market around the housing and easing and easiness of parking.

The purpose of this study was to analyze behavioral patterns of elderly residents and to identify the characteristics of using furniture and home appliances by elderly-headed households. For this purpose, field studies that included observation and open-ended interview were conducted with 52 elderly-headed households. The major findings of this study were as follows: elderly-headed households need home appliances with lighter body, lower capacity and simple functions. Furniture for elderly people should be designed to minimize the inconvenience of using western style furniture, also the behavior patterns which are important to the elderly like taking medicine have to be considered. And it is necessary to design furniture and equipments properly to prevent accidents happened in housing. Lastly, because the elderly relies heavily on watching TV, it will be desirable to apply TV-friendly devices such as home networking and home automation. Research results will be useful information on product design to reflect characteristics of elderly and follow-up studies associated with each furniture and appliances and specific living behavior are needed.
