  • In the implementation of a smart home, activity recognition technology using simple sensors is very important. In this paper, we propose a new activity recognition method based on Bayesian network (BN). The structure of the BN is learned by K2 algorithm and is composed of sensor nodes, activity nodes and time node whose state is quantized with reasonable interval. In the proposed method, the BN has less complexity and provides better activity recognition rate than the previous method.

  • Because information society as a lather environment has different characteristics with the industrial one, we need to get the new guideline for the development of family resource management. So, this study was purposed to explore the importance of the information as a resource that is to be managed in the information society. To find the answer, challenge of the family resource management to be with, characteristics of the information and the information society, their effects on He family resource management, academic research patterns and activities of the public institutions were examined. As results, first, we need to focus on the family as a producer rather than a consumer. Second, we have to give the model of cuber life to the nomads in the information society. Third, we need to develope a new curriculm for students to play their parts in the ICT industry. Lastly, our efforts to make networks between researchers and persons in the In industry are needed.

  • An autonomic system management technology is being developed for self-managing during deployment and on an on-going basis for a production environment so that the system may be deployed and managed in production with minimal human intervention. As networks and distributed systems grow and change, system deployment failures, hardware and software issues, and human error can increasingly hamper the performance and capacity of the components in an IT system, driving up overall costs-even as technology component costs continue to decline. Known as the only solution for an on demand IT environment, the architecture of the autonomic system management will be shown and also the corresponding standards on the way will be introduced in this paper.

  • Changes in a person's health affect one's lifestyle and work activities. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), abnormal activity is growing faster in people aged 60 or more than any other age group in almost every country. This trend steadily continues and expected to increase further in the near future. Abnormal activity put these people at high risk of expected incidents since most of these people live alone. Human abnormal activity analysis is a challenging, useful and interesting problem among the researchers and its particularly crucial task in life and health care areas. In this paper, we discuss the problem of abnormal activities of old people lives alone at home. We propose Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) based model to detect the abnormal behaviors of elderlies by utilizing six simulated action data from daily life actions.

  • Fiber to the Home (FTTH) technology is among the most advanced broadband services, delivering voice, data, and television through a single optical fiber directly to customer premises, ensuring high-speed and reliable connectivity. The study conducted on Nepal Telecom's FTTH networks involved direct measurements from the optical line terminal to the fiber access point and optical network unit, providing detailed insights into network performance. Using the OptiSystem software, the analysis revealed a link loss of 24.99 dB, a Q-factor of 12.98, and a minimum Bit Error Rate (BER) of 7.31E-39, all within standard limits, which underscores the robustness of the network. The study also identified that the highest contributors to signal loss were connector loss, fiber attenuation, and fusion splices, emphasizing the importance of minimizing these factors to maintain optimal network performance. Overall, these findings highlight the critical aspects of FTTH network design and maintenance, ensuring that service providers can deliver high-quality broadband services to customers.

  • Internet Service Subscribers Network has a new role of providing the various multimedia services to the home. However, there exist several types of distributed subscribers network using Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL), Very high-bit rate Digital Subscriber Line (VDSL), and Data Over Cable Service Interface Specifications (DOCSIS). The efficient and concentrated network management of those several distributed subscribers networks with resources require the general information model of network, which has abstract and conceptional managed objects independent of type of network and its equipment to manage the integrated subscriber network. This paper presents the general Internet subscribers network model of the managed object to manage that network in the form of integrated hierarchy This paper adopts the object-oriented development methodology with UML and designs and implements the integrated subscribers NMS of cable data network and VDSL network as examples of the subscriber networks.

  • In a small wireless environment, such as your home or office, a various network using WiMedia PHY can be mixed. Because these networks operate independently for each application, data conflict can occur between adjacent networks. To avoid data conflict, the resource in a different time zone can be utilized. However, if devices in a network increase, available resources in the network decrease, and then the lack of resources necessary to provide service can occur. To solve this problem, we propose collision avoidacne scheme for coexistence of various UWB systems. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme through simulation.

  • With advance in technologies for wireless sensor networks(WSNs), 2.4 GHz band has become gradually attractive due to increase in low-power wireless communication devices. Especially ZigBee(IEEE 802.15.4-based) technology whose frequency band includes the 2.4GHz industrial, scientific and medical band providing nearly worldwide availability has been universally applicable to a various remote monitoring system and applications related home network system. However network throughput of these systems is significantly deteriorated due to this ISM band is a license-exemption used in a variety of low-power wireless communication devices. For instance, other IEEE 802 wireless standards such as Bluetooth, WLAN, Wi-Fi and others cause radio interference to ZigBee. The experiments was carried out to analyze radio frequency interference between heterogeneous devices using ISM bands to improve the limited frequency utility factor. Finally this paper suggests a frequency hopping-based adaptive multi-channel methods to decrease interference with empirical results.
