During the modern age, various fields have fundamentally changed from the preconceived ideas of the past. The concept of time-space relationship changed also. E. J. Marey was almost the first one to visualize the movement of animals and people through scientific methods. Frank B. Gilbreth used more precise photographic equipments to develop more accurate and specific body movement diagrams. The emergence of visualization of body movement is not the only product from the scientific field. The new concept of time-space can be easily noticed in modem art, music and dance. In space design, Futurism attempted to represent the dynamism and speed in a sculptural form. On the other hand, there were examples to further investigate the specific analysis of body movements such as 'Scientific Management'. Body movement diagrams are widely used in various projects in contemporary space design. The difference is that now the design process is more integrated with the analysis. The representation of speed and the container of movements are interwoven in a complex manner in which fluid relationship between body and space is possible. Three types can now be considered: Object, Container and Interactivity. This study attempts to analyze brief history of body movement studies and their application for contemporary space design.

The purposes of this study were to document the fashions adopted by young women in the United States in the 1980s and to explore if and how the dynamic shifts toward postmodernist values influenced those fashion trends. Fifteen U.S. women who were college students in the 1980s were interviewed for the study. In analysis of the data, we focused on social changes during the 1980s and the cultural impact of postmodernism vs. modernism as influential factors. Both postmodern and feminist ideas challenged the mainstream cultural framework of capitalism. U.S. women's styles and behaviors concerning dress reflected characteristics of postmodern consumption patterns, which include nostalgia, ethnic dress, androgyny, eclectic and novel clothing combinations, surprising or humorous appearance, and nonconformity. Despite the critique of conformity and conservatism in dress that had emerged in the 1960s and remained in at least minority or subversive trends, the importance of brand names and designer labels increased in mainstream fashion. This study helps us better understand the dynamics of fashion as it reflects societal and value changes in a transitional time in history.

During the past 20 years, a small but potentially powerful initiative has established itself in the mathematics education landscape: Mathematics Across the Curriculum (MAC). This curricular reform movement was designed to address a serious problem: Not only are students unable to demonstrate understanding of mathematical ideas and their applications, but also they harbor misconceptions about the meaning and purpose of mathematics. This paper chronicles the brief history of the MaC movement. The sections of the paper correspond loosely tn the typical steps one might take to solve a mathematics problem. The Problem Takes Shape presents a discussion of the social and economic forces that led to the need for increased articulation between mathematics and other fields in the American educational system. Understanding the Problem presents the potential value of exploiting these connections throughout the curriculum and the obstacles such action might encounter. Devising a Plan provides an overview of the support systems provided to early MAC initiatives by government and professional organizations. Implementing the Plan contains a brief description of early collegiate programs, their approaches and their differences. Extending the Solution details the adoption of MAC principles to the K-12 sector and throughout the world. The paper concludes with Retrospective, a brief discussion of lessons learned and possible next steps.

While much has been written about Imperial Japan's encounter with geopolitics and developing ideas about Geography as a political and cultural discipline, little if anything has been written about relational and research Geographies between Japan and Silk Roads both ancient and modern. Memories of the ancient Silk Road were revivified in the late 19^th century in tandem with the Great Game of European nations, as Japan modernized and sought new places and influence globally following the Meiji restoration. Imperial Japan thus sought to conquer and co-opt spaces imagined to be part of or influenced by the ancient Silk Road and any modern manifestation of it. This paper explores a particular process in that co-option and appropriation, research collaboration between institutions of the Empire. In particular it considers the exploration of Mengjiang/Inner Mongolia after its conquest in 1939/1940, by a collaborative team of Korean and Japanese Geographers, led by Professor Tada Fumio. This paper considers the making knowable of spaces imagined to be on the ancient Silk Road in the Imperial period, and the projecting of the imperatives of the Empire back into Silk Road history, at the same time as such territory was being made anew. This paper also casts new light on the relational and collaborative processes of academic exchange, specifically in the field of Geography, between Korean and Japanese academics during the Korean colonial period.

본 연구는 1990년대 후반 이후 다시 새롭게 부각되고 있는 그래픽 디자인에서의 미니멀한 경향을 디자인사적인 맥락에서 어떻게 평가할 것인가 하는 문제의식에서 출발하였다. 제1장 에서는 "적을수록 많다", "적을수록 지루하다", "나는 적음과 많음을 믿는다" 등의 세 개의 디자인 경구를 통해 20세기 디자인의 전개 과정과 그 주제들을 살펴보았고, 제2장에서는 그래픽 디자인에 나타난 미니멀한 디자인 경향과 그 특성들을 시기별로 고찰해보았다. 최근의 미니멀 그래픽스 경향은 그래픽 디자이너들이 20세기 후반의 사회적ㆍ문화적 기술적 변화들을 적극적으로 수용하면서 분야의 전문성과 정체성을 새롭게 재정의해 가는 과정에서 자연스럽기 등장한 것이다. 이제 디자인의 내용과 형식, 스타일, 작업논리와 학문적 체계의 구성 등에 대해 보다 심화되고 확장된 연구가 필요한 시점이라 생각된다.보다 심화되고 확장된 연구가 필요한 시점이라 생각된다.

Tube Lines has carried out a "knowledge and investigation programme" on the deep tube tunnels comprising the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines, as required by the PPP contract with London Underground. Many of the tunnels have been in use for over 100 years, so this assessment was considered essential to the future safe functioning of the system. This programme has involved a number of generic investigations which guide the assessment methodology and the analysis of some 5,000 individual structures. A significant amount of investigation has been carried out, including ultrasonic thickness measurement, detection of brickwork laminations using radar, stress measurement using magnetic techniques, determination of soil parameters using CPT, pressuremeter and laboratory testing, installation of piezometers, material and tunnel segment testing, and trialling of remote photographic techniques for inspection of large tunnels and shafts. Vibrating wire, potentiometer, electro level, optical and fibre-optic monitoring has been used, and laser measurement and laser scanning has been employed to measure tunnel circularity. It is considered that there is scope for considerable improvements in non-destructive testing technology for structural assessment in particular, and some ideas are offered as a "wish-list". Assessment reports have now been produced for all assets forming Tube Lines' deep tube tunnel network. For assets which are non-compliant with London Underground standards, the risk to the operating railway has to be maintained as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP) using enhanced inspection and monitoring, or repair where required. Monitoring techniques have developed greatly during recent years and further advances will continue to support the economic whole life asset management of infrastructure networks.

The purpose of the study were to analyze MathThematics textbooks and Korean middle school mathematics and to investigate the difference among the textbooks in the view of mathematical communication. According to the results, the textbook developers made a variety of efforts to develope students' mathematical communication ability. Students were encouraged to communicate with others about their mathematical ideas or problem solving processes in words or writing by means of discussion, oral report, presentation, journal, etc. MathThematics textbooks provided student self-assessment opportunity to improve student performance in problem solving, reasoning, and communication. In communication assessment, students can assess their use of mathematical vocabulary, notation, and symbols, the use of graphs, tables, models, diagrams and equation to solve problem and their presentation skills. The assessment activities would make a positive impact on the development of students' mathematical communication ability. MathThematics textbooks provided a variety of problem situation including history, science, sports, culture, art, and real world as a topic for communication, however, the researcher found that some of Korean textbooks depends heavily on mathematical problem situations.

예술의 역사에 있어 문자와 형상이 어우러지는 형태는 고대 예술의 여러 장르에서 발견된다. 특히 불교예술의 도상은 문자와 동등한 의미전달 수단으로서 교리를 선전하는 중요한 도구였다. 이는 원래의 문학적 형식이 회화적 형식으로 소통체계가 전환됨을 말하며, 사유방식도 다른 기호적 체계를 가진다. 문자와 형상의 상호 전환은 현대 영상매체의 미적개념을 해석하는데 매우 중요하다. 그러므로, 본 논문은 형상적 사유를 통한 현대 대중매체의 시각예술에 대한 해석의 실마리를 고대 돈황벽화 <구생록본생도>에 나타난 도상적 서사와 애니메이션 <구색록>의 영상이미지 표현과의 비교분석을 통해 살펴보았다.

The importance of residents' participation has become more prominent to promote better living condition and quality of life in rural communities due to the skeptical views on the outcomes of the rural community supporting projects led by organizations and institutions. This study analyzes White Dandelion Eco-Village in Hoebuk Myeon, Boeun Kun, Chungbuk where community development is being done by its residents. By examining the formation background and the history of the village, and various participation forms and methods of the residents, I am to derive the ideal rural community development project led by the villagers themselves. To achieve successful supporting projects for rural communities by many different organizations and methods, it is necessary to have followings; residents' affectionate attentions for the community as well as good ideas and intentions, excellent leaders who gather all the efforts and transform them into good plans, well made strategies and continuous endeavor, and the diversion of thoughts of the supporting project experts and the organizations.

This study was conducted to research the status, history and prospects of farm scale milk processing and to develop a management strategy for small scale milk process plant in Korea. Also it aims to provide ways to apply it so as to vitalize the farm made milk products market practically. This study was also treats the practical development of dairy farm school programs through the farm scale milk processing. Farm-scale milk plant (FMP) should be some of the ideas to develop small scale and using the resources according to the local features, limited expanding in regional market, produce by consumers order amounts, management policy will be transferred organic dairy farm. A few policy suggestions to put FMP system of financial support would not from beginner, it is better to settled FMP system by government or co-operation group in practical support programs were proposed. What the state needs to do through direct involvement were to put efforts at demand expansion on FMP system products, to certificate and safety the farm made milk products marketing system settings, to build more variation chance of the milk products. What was more important, however, was support policy, to create the network of FMP market and to develop of training program contents for each FMP operation unit. The ideal FMP model for the development of Dairy Farming proposed in this research will be applied as a relevant reference in managing and realizing environmental friendly and sustainable dairy industry at the national level.
