  • The purpose of this study is to verify the factors determining core journals in a field based upon the results of the citation analysis of the journals in the field of Korean History(KH). In order to verify the determinant factors, dividing the articles of the KH journals into their novelty and author's seniority, the following hypotheses were established. Hypothesis 1: When a KH journal publishes more articles on prehistoric and ancient eras than others, the journal will have higher chance to be included in the core journals. Hypothesis 2: When a KH journal publishes more articles by senior researchers than others, the journal will have higher chance to be included in the core journals. To achieve the purpose, the cited articles found in the two sample journals, namely, Backsan Hakbo and Hanguksa Yongu were analysed during the past 20 years from 1962 to 1981. Applying the Hirst's Discipline Impact Factor method to the the study, Historical Science Impact Factor(HSIF) on the samples itself and the historical era dealt with in the articles and the seniority of the authors during every five-year period. Based upon thr present study to ver~fy the two hypotheses, the following conclusions have been reached. 1) Tht. most influencing sublect mattcr era or1 thix liSIF of the lo~lrual is arranged in prehistoric arid ancient, Koryo, Chosun, recent era, and the others by order of era. 2 ) Clial~g~~lg a fringe or semicore journal u~to a core j ~ u r n a l , very IISIF' 011 it> article e r a 1s grown up arrd prcllistoric a ~ ~ d ancierlt era:. are, s p c c ~ a l l ~ , incr.eased high relatively. • The traffic information is provided, which based on the volume of traffic, speed, occupancy collected through the currently operating Vehicle Detector System(VDS). In addition to the trend in utilization fold of traffic information is increasing gradually with the applied various fields and users. Missing data in Vehicle detector data means series of data transmitted to controller without specific property. The missing data does not have a data property, so excluded at the whole data Process Hence, increasing ratio of missing data in VDS data inflicts unreliable representation of actual traffic situation. This study presented the imputation process due out which applied the methodologies that utilized adjacent stations reference and historical data utilize about missing data. Applied imputation process methodologies to VDS data or SeoHaeAn/Kyongbu Expressway, currently operation VDS, after processes at missing data ratio of an option. Imputation process held presented to per lane-30seconds-period, and morning/afternoon/daily time scope ranges classified, and analyzed an error of imputed data preparing for actual data. The analysis results, an low error occurred relatively in the results of the imputation process way that utilized a historical data compare with adjacent stations reference methods.

  • Architectural style is said to be product reflecting political, social and cultural condition. Especially, in colony, architectural style is strongly related to political condition or policy. After colonization in 1910, public buildings with western historical architectural style in Japanese version were widely built by Japanese colonial government in Korea. And in the late 1920s, modernism style in architecture became dominant in Korea as like other countries. In this situation, curious buildings in strange architectural styles came out. One example is railroad station buildings with traditional Korean architectural style and timber house station having a steep roof which is widely used in North Europe such as Alps area with good sights and mountains. Generally, the colonizer says that colonization is the only way to save the colony at crisis defined by colonizer and they insist that they can help the colony modernize. To justify colonization, the colonizer attributes the colonization to the characteristics of the nation and stagnation of the traditional culture etc.. Accordingly, the colonizer tries to depreciate colony's traditional value and culture. In case of colony which has similar cultural background historically (in this case, economical exploitation is less important than other Asian colony by European power), this depreciation of traditional value and culture in Korea was done more strongly than others. At this time, we should understand special relation between Korea and Japan historically. Even though, colony's locality is adopted by the colonizer in public fields, which is based on political purpose or exotic taste etc.. In early days of Japanese ruling period, Japan never use the Korean traditional facts in public. Therefore there is no use of Korean traditional architectural style in public field. In late 1920s, some railroad station buildings were constructed in new styles without precedence in modern Korea. One is railroad station buildings in Korean traditional architectural style, the other is railroad station buildings in timber house stations having a steep roof which is different form western historical architectural style. It was mystery that Japan had constructed railroad stations in Korean traditional style which Japan had tried to destroy together with Western style railroad station buildings. This paper is made to solve the mystery why the colonizer(Japan) constructed entirely different types of railroad stations at the same time in the late 1920s and 1930s. The key point to solve this mystery is tourism. In this paper, to solve this mystery, I try to use terminology' 'Colonial Tourism' in architecture why colonial power had constructed railroad stations with colony's traditional architectural style and Western style having a steep roof which can be seen north European region.

  • This research is a theoretically grounded empirical study aimed at shedding light on the policy evolution of Technology Park(TP) in term of historical institutionalism in South Korea for the 16 years. The study analysed the evolution of TP, and the empirical fieldwork was completed in two regions, Gyeongsangbuk-do ana Daegu City. Historically the policy can be divided into three periods being affected by endogenous and exogenous impact. This research found that the functions of local TPs changed as following: six functions decided by central governments ${\rightarrow}$ added the role of supporting regional innovation ${\rightarrow}$ comprehensive support for small & medium-sized enterprise. Analysis of the empirical study reveals significant findings: first, the relationships between central government and local actors which was built in the quickening period have been path dependency. Second, the functions of local TPs were evolved with the characteristics of layering and reorientation of the institutions. Thirdly, there were some differentiation between the two regions because of the milieu, though the central government had the power deciding the functions.

  • Volcanic eruptions alone may lead to serious natural disasters, but the associated release of water from a caldera lake may be equally damaging. There is both historical and geological evidence of the past eruptions of Mt. Baekdusan, and the volcano, which has not erupted for over 100 years, has recently shown signs of reawakening. Action is required if we are to limit the social, political, cultural, and economic damage of any future eruption. This study aims to identify the area that would be inundated following a volcanic flood from the Cheon-Ji caldera lake that lies within Mt. Baekdusan. A scenario-based numerical analysis was performed to generate a flood hydrograph, and the parameters required were selected following a consideration of historical records from other volcanoes. The amount of water at the outer rim as a function of time was used as an upper boundary condition for the downstream routing process for a period of 10 days. Data from the USGS were used to generate a DEM with a resolution of 100 m, and remotely sensed satellite data from the moderate-resolution imaging spectroradiometer (MODIS) were used to show land cover and use. The simulation was generated using the software FLO-2D and was superposed on the remotely sensed map. The results show that the inundation area would cover about 80% of the urban area near Erdaobaihezhen assuming a 10 m/hr collapse rate, and 98% of the area would be flooded assuming a 100 m/hr collapse rate.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate about security service history as enlightenment period from the provisional government to 1920s. This study used materials by historical facts for the regulations and books in provisional government, newspapers in 1920s. There are four parts conclusion of this study: police department of provisional government, security service agency in the provisional government, security service agents of an independence movement, the general society of Korea. Firstly, Kim Gu, a prominent Korean nationalist leader, was understand of security service which was to protect provisional government from the enemy. So, Kim Gu participated in training of security service agents in the police department of provisional government. Secondly, there was security service agency in the provisional government. In 1920s, security service agency and agents appeared for the first time in regulations of the provisional government. At the beginning of the security service agency's appearance was influenced on background and circumstances for Korean independence activist who helped the independence of Korea from Japan. Thirdly, security service agents leaded an active for independence movement of the private organizations in 1920s. They carried on an independence movement in defiance of Japanese coercion as nationalist in Korea history. Fourthly, security service came out the general society of Korea in 1920s. The security service was not just for safety, but also for its security system and peace of mind, which were influenced by the political situation, social environment in 1920s. For the this reason, now security service has safety perception in Korea despite the historical progress.

  • It has been often noted as a problem that as there are no objective and clear criteria for the repair cost estimate of persistent defects, when a claim arises in relation to an apartment construction, significantly different amounts of compensation may be given for similar defects based on the experience and tendencies of the construction experts asked to make a judgment. For this reason, this research aims to present defect managers with a more reasonable and objective estimation criteria and a system to determine the repair cost of defects based on an analysis of relevant factors. The research findings show that the historical cost system is applied first, and then a standard of estimation is used to estimate the cost for the items that are not included in the historical cost system. The criteria for the repair cost for each defect is as follows: the repair cost for defects arising from a regulation violation is determined by calculating the reconstruction cost of the parts in question after demolishing them; the repair cost for progressive defects is determined based on a contribution ratio proportional to the age of the building; the repair cost for repetitive defects is calculated by considering an alternative to maximize the intended function of the defective parts; and the repair cost for value depreciation defects is determined based on the ratio of the warranty period to the lapsed years. However, repair cost estimation for dual value depreciation defects should be studied in future research.

  • The offshore trawl fishery is seeking its survival way to overcome current management conditions in red, resulted from the bilateral agreement with China and Japan. However, this movement magnifies conflicts between fisheries on the contrary and it is thought to be impossible to get over current situations. For all that, this study is aimed at investigating how this current situations have occurred. The management freedom as response to the change in fishing conditions of a certain fishery, in case of Korea, is affected by institutional regulations. The example of this is controls on fishing gears, fishing vessels, and fishing grounds. The most exposure of this control is a segmentation of institutional fisheries. The initial segmentation of the offshore trawl fishery in Korea was occurred in the period of Japan's colonization when the degree of use of fishing grounds was limited geographically. At that time, fisheries were divided by fishing areas, but it did not divide the fishery itself. The large - sized fishing vessels were developed politically to be more competative to Japanese fishing vessels since 1950s. During this time, the trawl fishery was merged into current Eastern trawl fishery and South - Western trawl fishery. It was also inevitable to divide into the pair trawl and single trawl fishery as a result of the physical mergency between Western trawl and Southern trawl fishery. In order to develop the trawl fishery, new licenses were issued on the shrimp trawl fishery, through which it was expected to boost the trawl fishery. As opposed, the shrimp trawl fishery was changed into the mid - sized trawl fishery, targeting on the eastern fishing areas and the large - sized trawl fishery was developed since the late of 1970s with the development of filefish processing industry. The large trawl fishery that led in development of offshore trawl fishery since the late of 1950s was started to divide into a pair trawl and single trawl according to the fishing method and capital power. It finally became an institutionally independent fishery in 1980s, respectively. Looking into these historical process, the segmentation of the trawl fishery is thought as a result of the lack of long - term perspective and as a production of trial and error resulted by unprepared policy. As a result, these segmentation of fisheries roles as critical obstacles in harmonization of fisheries and in overcoming of current situations. Therefore, the review of this institutional segmentation of the offshore trawl fishery should be taken for an optimal redistribution of fishing grounds suits with business and fishing technology. For this, the fishery must be divided into large capitalized fishery and small - mid fishery with consideration of capital, fishing method, and the condition of use of fishing grounds. In addition to this, by limiting outline of fishing ground that the large fishery can harvest, it must allow for the small - mid fishery to catch with its own boundary. Furthermore, by launching buyback programs on the trawl, eastern trawl, pair trawl, it can provide broader fishing grounds where the fishery can harvest with management freedom.

  • The objective of the study is to develop a reservoir optimal operation model and to suggest the appropriate amount of additional water supply and optimal operation rule. The model uses multiple objective function and a global search method, SCE-UA method. The objective function is set up to maintain the storage at target level, to satisfy the water demand, and to maximize the hydropower product. To evaluate the model's applicability, the model was applied for allocating the optimal water depending on storage level changes of Seomjin dam. The results comparing optimal operation and historical data showed that hydropower product increased from $-2.29\%$ to $14.51\%$, $-5.94\%$ to $3.98\%$, and $-0.43\%$ to $6.35\%$ with varying target levels in wet, dry, and normal period, respectively. Also, The model was applied for assessing water supply capacity of Seomjin dam to satisfy increasing water demand. The dam was operated by the model on consideration of downstream flow as 0.17, 0.50, 0.70, 1.0, 1.5, and $3.0\;m^3/sec$. The results showed that in case of operating the dam with downstream flow less than $0.70\;m^3/sec$ and with target water level lower than 194.0 m, hydropower product was more than the historical operation data and existing amount of water supply was less influenced.

  • This study aims to figure out the weather and climate environment of Seoul area in S. Korea during 1623~1800, which has not been studied so far, by using daily records of weather conditions and meteorological phenomena in the Daily Records of Royal Secretariat of Joseon Dynasty(承政院日記) together with records of abnormal weather conditions and natural disasters in the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty(朝鮮王朝實錄). During 1500~1760 as a period of the Little Ice Age it was generally cold and dry, particularly cool summers of Seoul area. Changes in weather conditions and meteorological phenomena and climate changes appeared prominently at around 1650, 1710, 1770. The annual numbers of rain days and of snow days began to change largely in the 1640s. The rain(and snow) days reduced significantly in the 1710s~1650s, but increased sharply in the 1710s and later. The rain days in summer rapidly increased after the late 1710s, while the snow days greatly reduced after the mid 1770s. The cloudy days around the 1710s greatly reduced in summer, while slightly increased in winter. The hail days increased significantly in the late 1720s and lasted until the 1760s. The fog days began to reduce after 1770 to the fewer days than the climatic normals of 1981~2010. These times are overall consistent with findings of historical climatological cross-checking data and geophysical biological proxy data, accompanied by a trend of relatively enhanced colder and drier of Seoul area.
