  • The purpose of this study is to present the basic data for conservation and management of traditional landscape and ecological environment by surveying and analysing the vascular plants distributed in Gwnagneung, a royal tomb of the Joseon Dynasty. The results are as follows. The numbers of vascular plants were summarized as 446 taxa including 97 families, 274 genera, 384 species, 4 subspecies, 49 varieties and 9 forms. The planting species were 34 taxa including Ginkgo biloba L., Pinus koraiensis Siebold & Zucc., Taxus cuspidata Siebold & Zucc. and so forth. Exotic species such as Pterocarya stenoptera DC. and Magnolia obovata Thunb. need to be remove for traditional landscape management. The rare plants were 7 taxa including 2 taxa of CR(critically endangered), 2 taxa of VU(vulnerable) and 3 taxa of LC(least concerned). The Korean endemic plants were 8 taxa including Pseudostellaria coreana (Nakai) Ohwi, Chrysosplenium pilosum var. fulvum (N.Terracc.) Hara, Philadelphus schrenkii Rupr., Indigofera koreana Ohwi, Paulownia coreana Uyeki(planting), Weigela subsessilis (Nakai) L.H.Bailey, Aster koraiensis Nakai(planting) and Hosta minor (Baker) Nakai(planting). • Cheongpyeongsa Temple was originally built in the early years of Goryeo Dynasty, but its current structural framework was made by the Lord Jinrakgong Lee Ja Hyeon(1061-1125) of the middle Goryeo period based on the Zen thought after he began living in the Cheongpyeong mountain around the temple in 1089. The purpose of this study is to conceptualize, based on old documents, historical changes of the appearance and survival of man-made structures with in the Zen garden formed and developed after Lee Ja Hyeon laid the foundation for Munsuwon Zen garden. Among the eight, outside-the-temple hermitages built at the time of Lee Ja Hyeon's Munsuwon Zen garden, only three hermitages, which are Sik-am, Gyeonseong-am, Yangshin-am had been remaining thanks to restoration and repair until late Joseon Dynasty and preserved as symbolic hermitages. Also, the Yeongji Pond built at the time of Lee Ja Hyeon still remains as precious landscape relics which is meaningful as a genuine Goryeo-period pond. The nine pine trees said to be planted by Lee Ja Hyeon remained until middle 1800s through their descendant trees. When the Buddhist monk Bowoo Daesa(1509-1565)changed the name to Cheongpyeongsa Temple in middle Joseon based on the Munsuwon Zen garden built by Lee Ja Hyeon and greatly expanded it, he newly built and expanded all buildings inside the temple except for Neunginjeon(main temple building), resulting in the present temple structure. In addition, by greatly enhancing the level of scenery by reconstructing Yeongji Pond outside the temple area and transplanting garden plants from the royal court, he made Cheongpyeongsa Temple the most prosperous Zen garden in its history. But after the mid-1800s, which is late Joseon period, Cheongpyeongsa Temple failed to thrive further and began to decline, and so currently most buildings of the Zen garden have disappeared except for some parts of the temple and other facilities are neglected.

  • The issues of this study are as follows. First, I will examine the overall situation and transition trends of Tibetan research in Taiwan since the modern period, and examine the development and trends of Tibetan history research in Taiwan. Secondly, in order to satisfy the above, we will analyze trends of Taiwan's major Tibetan research institutes and scholars, and trace their trends and their trajectories. Third, the trend of Tibetan research in Taiwan may be a useful indicator for us to analyze research methods and trends of Taiwanese scholars. If there is a flow of features and transitions, the text will explore the reason. Fourth, one of the implications of this study is that it can trigger an understanding of locality in the structure of the central region, the Han Chinese minority, and the possession and distribution of academic reasoning. In other words, it should be noted that even though the same Tibetan research is conducted, China is in the position of the vested right to distribute 226 | 동북아역사논총 60호the central or ownership, while Taiwan has historical and territorial characteristics that deviate from such a gaze and attitude. Taiwan may be sensitive to the vertical concept understood as a change in the relationship between the state and the center, or whether it is applicable to Tibetan research. If there is such an academic climate, I would like to consider suggestions for us. This may provide a direction to view the academic issues of a few scholars, or even the domestic academic world as an independent object of more specific academic research.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand how the perception and attitude in children's education have changed over the 20th century in South Korea by searching the newspaper articles. The modernization in 20th century brought radical changes in every aspect of Korean society including education. As an educational attitude and policies from the government changed, so did the tones reflected in the newspaper articles. To sum up, there were four (4) principal changes found from this study as follows;Firstly, parental involvement and role as an educator became more important in Korean society and huge generation gap arose in attitudes towards children's education and custody. Secondly, the traditional gender-based roles of mothers' with image of love and fathers' with strength disappeared and mothers' responsibility of children's education were more emphasized during 20th century. Meanwhile, today's society is calling for an immediate return of fathers' involvement and commitment to children's education in the household. Thirdly, as the overflow of information and knowledge in 20th society caused an excessive interest in children's education, there were rising demands for establishing proper views and ideas on children's education. Lastly, the responsibilities of children's education which had been laid on household was expanded to public and government, which can be seen from the fact that an educational support from the government was extended to the children of overseas Korean as well as those residing in Korea.

  • The academic circle of the Qing Dynasty has seen a new trend, mostly based on Han-Hak through the event of the publication of "Sagojeyo" and sought a new change in the sector of Spring Autumn-Hak as well. This study is focused on understanding and evaluation of the developmental process of especially the traditional Spring Autumn-Hak view, among some views of "Sagojeyo" by the book. "Sagojeyo" does a critical analysis of Gongyang-Hak and Gokryang-Hak and the interpretation of "Spring Autumn" made by Song-Hak scholars, and which seems a kind of preparatory step to build up a new research methodology for Spring Autumn-Hak. "Sagojeyo" emphasizes the importance of "Jwacijeon" and also points out its weaknesses and strongly demands the acceptance of strengths "Gongyangjeon" and "Gokryangjeon" have in order to compensate such demerits. Even further, it tries to evaluate Spring Autumn-Hak of the Song Dynasty objectively and reasonably as possible with no prejudice. Such analysis attitude made it possible for Spring Autumn-Hak to get a new turning point starting from the publication of "Sagojeyo". The new research methodology that comprehensively judges historical research and fidelity discourse could be one of important achievements discovered in the Han-Hak-centered academic circle in the early Qing Dynasty.

  • Traditional values refer to one's attitudes or perspectives developed by negotiating with oneself, others, society, world, nature and universe, which include thoughts on what is right, desirable, and what is dos and don'ts. The purpose of this study was to investigate values which Korean people traditionally emphasized, and their changes by epochal situation focused on the Choson Era. Also, this study intended to assist in finding values and meaning which should be passed down and manifested in contemporary society based on the study results. In this context, I select some positive values in the background of the Joseon dynasty. As traditional values or ethics in Korea destroyed and distorted going through the period of Japanese colonialism, all the existing social culture and traditional culture were denied, which resulted in vanishing common value which led community for several hundred years. The loss of common value caused community destruction and collapse, and made Korean people seek to survival, success and advancement in life as suffering from severe conflict of values. Experience of hollow state of mind caused by historical and cultural severance left distorted and degenerated values to Korea people, which made them pursue false values without realizing true meaning of traditional values. The true meaning of traditional values should be universal no matter how society changes, and could be milestone to contemporary people wandering aimlessly. Realizing and reconsidering the meaning of traditional values to found comtemporary values of Korean people by reflecting on history can produce significant results beyond age-old debate about East or West, and tradition or modernity.

  • This paper is to examine how Joseon intellectuals understood $g{\check{u}}$(古) and $j{\bar{i}}n$(今) and how its history consequently changed. It is to take a macroscopic view focusing on differences of different schools. Understanding of '$g{\check{u}}$' and '$j{\bar{i}}n$' directly and indirectly affected academia, art and even politics throughout Joseon dynasty. As different scholars and schools distinctively understood $g{\check{u}}$ and $j{\bar{i}}n$, issues of tradition and creation; conservatism and progressivism and; ideal and reality were deeply discussed. Those discussions greatly and historically contributed to making changes in politics and society as well. A cultural tradition of emphasizing '$g{\check{u}}$' took a deep root in overall Joseon society. Meanwhile, understanding of '$j{\bar{i}}n$(今)' or '$x{\bar{i}}n$(新)' was required with changes of times. as When people thought the reality is confusing or corrupt, they adopted restoration(復古) which means to go back to basis as the slogan. Awareness in $g{\check{u}}$ and $j{\bar{i}}n$ served as a drive to change the society. However, they never lifted their voices for '$j{\bar{i}}n$' or '$x{\bar{i}}n$,' abandoning '$g{\check{u}}$'. Criticism on '$g{\check{u}}$' was merely for criticizing being bound by '$g{\check{u}}$,' not targeting '$g{\check{u}}$' itself. '$J{\bar{i}}n$' actually was a dependent variable of '$g{\check{u}}$.' It is a dichotomous view to consider '$g{\check{u}}$' as conservatism and '$j{\bar{i}}n$' as progressivism.

  • Bitcoin, a representative cryptocurrency, is receiving a lot of attention around the world, and the price of Bitcoin shows high volatility. High volatility is a risk factor for investors and causes social problems caused by reckless investment. Since the price of Bitcoin responds quickly to changes in the world environment, we propose to predict the price volatility of Bitcoin by utilizing news information that provides a variety of information in real-time. In other words, positive news stimulates investor sentiment and negative news weakens investor sentiment. Therefore, in this study, sentiment information of news and deep learning were applied to predict the change in Bitcoin yield. A single predictive model of logit, artificial neural network, SVM, and LSTM was built, and an integrated model was proposed as a method to improve predictive performance. As a result of comparing the performance of the prediction model built on the historical price information and the prediction model reflecting the sentiment information of the news, it was found that the integrated model based on the sentiment information of the news was the best. This study will be able to prevent reckless investment and provide useful information to investors to make wise investments through a predictive model.

  • Cultural assets excavated in historical areas have their own characteristics based on the background of the times, and it can be seen that their patterns and characteristics change little by little according to the history and the flow of the spreading area. Cultural properties excavated in some areas represent the culture of the time and some maintain their intact appearance, but most of them are damaged/lost or divided into parts, and many experts are mobilized to research the composition and repair the damaged parts. The purpose of this research is to learn patterns and characteristics of the past through artificial intelligence neural networks for such restoration research, and to restore the lost parts of the excavated cultural assets based on Generative Adversarial Network(GAN)[1]. The research is a process in which the rest of the damaged/lost parts are restored based on some of the cultural assets excavated based on the GAN. To recover some parts of dammed of cultural asset, through training with the 2D image of a complete cultural asset. This research is focused on how much recovered not only damaged parts but also reproduce colors and materials. Finally, through adopted this trained neural network to real damaged cultural, confirmed area of recovered area and limitation.
