The differential equation, which can determine the dynamic critical loads for low parabcoic arches, is derived in this study. The dynamic critical loads of the parabolic arches subjected to a concentrated step load are nummerically analyzed for the changes of load positions. In cases of arches with different end conditions (both hinged, fixed hinged, both fixed), the effect of end conditions and that of the rises are investigated in detail. The summary of the results are the following: 1)The snapthrough does not occur when the rise of arch is very low, and the bifurcation appears clearly as the rise of arch increases. 2)The regions in which the dynamic critical loads are not defined for the both ends fixed are broader than that for the both ends hinged. 3)For all case, the load positions of minimum dynamic critical loads exsit at the near position from the end hinged. Thus, the results obtained in present study show that the magnitude of dynamic critical loads, the load positions of minimum dynamic critical loads and the regions in which the dynamic critical loads are not defined depend on end conditions of arches.
This paper deals with the free vibrations of elastica shaped arches with constant arc length. The elastica shaped arches are formed by the post-buckled column whose arc length is always constant. The equations governing free, in-plane vibration of general arch in open literature are modified for applying the free vibrations of elastica shaped arch and solved numerically to obtain frequencies and mode shapes for hinged-hinged end constraints. The effects of rotatory inertia, rise to span length ratio and slenderness ratio on natural frequencies are presented. The frequencies of elastica and parabolic shaped arches are compared. Also, typical mode shapes are presented in figures.
Hinged cross bar which is fitted for buyer's special item in cell guide of container vessels has an advantage of efficiency on container loading. In this paper, the main focus is to confirm the structural adequacy of hinged cross bar supporting structure in cell guide under the considered loading condition for container vessel.
This paper deals with the free vibration analysis of horizontally circular mea beams with variable cross sectional width on elastic foundations. Taking into account the effects of rotatory inertia and shear deformation differential equations governing the free vibrations of such beams are derived, in which the Whlkler foundation model is considered as the elastic foundation. The variable width of beam is chosen as the linear equation. The differential equations are solved numerically to calculate natural frequencies. In numerical examples, the curved beam with the hinged-hinged, hinged-clamped, clamped-hinged and damped-clamped end constraints are considered The parametric studies are conducted and the lowest four frequency parameters are reported in figures as the non-dimensional forms.
Purpose: In this study, through the comparison of the pressure fluctuation and air exchange volume in negative isolation room according to the type of the door and door opening/closing speeds, which is one of the main factors causing the cross contamination of the negative pressure isolation room, establishes standard operating procedures to prevent cross contamination in high risk infectious diseases and isolation room design. Methods: In this study, the air flow each of the room is analyzed using ANASYS CFX CODE for flow analysis. In addition, the grid configuration of the door is constructed by applying Immersed Solid Methods. Results: The pressure fluctuation due to the opening and closing of the hinged door was very large when the moment of the hinged door opened and closed. Especially, at the moment when the door is closed, a pressure reversal phenomenon occurs in which the pressure in the isolation room is larger than the pressure in the anteroom. On the other hand, the pressure fluctuation due to the opening and closing of the sliding door appeared only when the door was closed, but the pressure reversal phenomenon not occurred at the moment when the sliding door was closed, unlike the hinged door. As the opening and closing speed of the hinged door increases, the air exchange volume is increased. However, as the opening and closing speed of the sliding door is decreased, the air exchange volume is increased. Implications: According to the results of this study, it can be concluded that the pressure fluctuation due to the opening and closing of the hinged door is greater than the pressure fluctuation due to the opening and closing of the sliding door. In addition, it can be confirmed that the pressure reversal phenomenon, which may cause to reduce the containment effect in negative pressure isolation room, is caused by the closing of the hinged door. Therefore, it is recommended to install a sliding door to maintain a stable differential pressure in the negative isolation room. Also, as the opening and closing speed of the hinged door is slower and the opening and closing speed of the sliding door is faster, the possibility of cross contamination of the room can be reduced. It is therefore necessary to establish standard operating procedures for negative isolation room for door opening and closing speeds.
The purpose of this study is to investigate both the fundamental and some higher natural frequencies and mode shapes of compressive members resting on the linear elastic foundation. The model of compressive member is based on the classical Bernoulli-Euler beam theory. The differential equation governing free vibrations of such members subjected to an axial load is derived and solved numerically for calculating the natural frequencies and mode shapes. The Improved Euler method is used to integrate the differential equation and the Determinant Search method combined with the Regula-Falsi method to determine the natural frequencies, respectively. In numerical examples, the hinged-hinged, hinged-clamped, clamped-hinged and clamped-clamped end constraints are considered. The convergence analysis is conducted for determining the available step size in the Improved Euler method. The validation of theories developed herein is also conducted by comparing the numerical results between this study and SAP 90. The non-dimensional frequency parameters are presented as the non-dimensional system parameters: section ratio, modulus parameter and load parameter. Also typical mode shapes are presented.

The focus of this paper is the study on the seismic performance of RC buildings with two different connections at the base level under near-fault earthquakes. It is well-known that the impulsive nature of the near-fault ground motions causes severe damages to framed buildings especially at base connections. In the scope of this study, two types of 3-dimensional RC Moment Frames with Fixed Support (MFFS) and Hinged Support (MFHS) containing 5 and 10 stories are assessed under an ensemble of 11 strong ground motions by implementing nonlinear response history analysis. The most vulnerable locations of MFFS, are the connections of corner columns to foundation especially under strong earthquakes. On the other hand, using beams at the base level as well as hinged base connections in MFHS buildings, prevents damages of corner columns and achieves more ductile behavior. Results denote that the MFHS including Base Level Beams (BLB) significantly shows better behavior compared with MFFS, particularly under pulse-type records. Additionally, the first story beams and also interior components undergo more actions. Role of the BLBs are similar to fuses decreasing the flexural moments of the corner columns. The BLBs can be constructed as replaceable members which provide the reparability of structures.
A numerical method is presented to obtain the natural frequencies and mode shapes of the arbitrary tapered beams with static deflection due to arbitrary distributed dead loads. The differential equation governing free vibration of such beams is derived and solved numerically. The double integration method using the trapezoidal rule is used to solve the static behaviour of beams loaded arbitrary distributed dead load. Also, the Improved Euler method and the determinant search method are used to integrate the differential equation subjected to the boundary conditions and to determine the natural frequencies of the beams, respectively. In the numerical examples, the various geometries of the beams are considered : (1) linearly tapered beams as the arbitrary variable cross-section, (2) the triangular, sinusoidal and uniform loads as the arbitrary distributed dead loads and (3) the hinged-hinged, clamped-clamped and hinged-clamped ends as the end constraints. All numerical results are shown as the non-dimensional forms of the system parameters. The lowest three natural frequencies versus load parameter, slenderness ratio and section ratio are reported in figures. And for the comparison purpose, the typical mode shapes with and without the effects of static deflection are presented in the figure. According to the numerical results obtained in this analysis, the following conclusions may be drawn : (1) the natural frequencies increase when the effects of static deflections are included, (2) the effects are larger at the lower modes than the higher ones and (3) it should be betteF to include the effect of static deflection for calculating the frequencies when the beams are supported by both hinged ends or one hinged end.

This paper presents an experimental study for determining the bond performance of lightweight concretes produced using pumice aggregate coated with colemanite-cement paste. For this purpose, eight hinged beam specimens were produced with four different concrete mixtures. 14 mm deformed bars with $10{\Phi}$ development lengths were selected constant for all test specimens. All the specimens were tested in bending and load-slip values were measured experimentally to determine the effect of colemanite-cement coated pumice aggregate on bond performances of lightweight concretes. Test results showed that, colemanite-cement coated pumice aggregate increases compressive strength and bond performance of the lightweight concretes, considerably.

In the present paper, the hydrodynamics properties of a Rahmen type flexible porous breakwater with dual fixed-pontoon system interacting with obliquely or normally incident small amplitude waves are numerically investigated. This system is composed of dual vertical porous membranes hinged a the side edges of dual fixed pontoons, and a submerged horizontal membrane that both ends are hinged at the steel frames mounted pontoons. The dual vertical membranes are extended downward and hinged at bottom steal frame fixed into seabed. The wave blocking and dissipation mechanism and its effects of permeability, Rahmen type membrane and pontoon geometry, pre-tensions on membranes, relative dimensionless wave number, and incident wave headings are thoroughly examined.
