  • This paper proposes a lyric search method to consider the characteristics of the user query. According to the fact that queries for the lyric search are derived from highlight parts of the music, this paper uses the hierarchical agglomerative clustering to find the highlight and proposes a Gaussian weighting to consider the neighbor of the highlight as well as highlight. By setting the mean of a Gaussian weighting at the highlight, this weighting function has higher weights near the highlight and the lower weights far from the highlight. Then, this paper constructs a index of lyrics with the gaussian weighting. According to the experimental results on a data set obtained from 5 real users, the proposed method is proved to be effective.

  • A digital video is usually very long temporally. requiring large storage capacity. Therefore, users want to watch pre-summarized video before they watch a large long video. Especially in the field of sports video, they want to watch a highlight video. Consequently, highlight video is used that the viewers decide whether it is valuable for them to watch the video or not. This paper proposes how to create soccer video highlight using the structural features of the caption such as temporal and spatial features. Caption frame intervals and caption key frames are extracted by using those structural features. And then, highlight video is created by using scene relocation, logical indexing and highlight creation rule. Finally. retrieval and browsing of highlight and video segment is performed by selection of item on browser.

  • In multiview imaging systems, color correction is adopted to eliminate color inconsistency between views. However, the influence of highlights on color correction has not been considered before. In this letter, a new color correction method based on highlight detection is proposed. The method is designed to treat highlight and highlight-removal regions independently when calculating correction parameters. Finial correction is implemented with a fusion mechanism. Experimental results show that the proposed method can improve objective and subjective correction performance, while achieving better coding performance than other correction methods.

  • Automatically predicting video highlight is an important task for media industry and streaming platform providers to save time and cost of manual video editing process. We propose a new ensemble model that combines multiple highlight detectors with each focusing on different parts of highlight events. Therefore, our model can capture more information-rich sections of events. Furthermore, the proposed model can extract improved features for highlight detection particularly when the train video set is small. We evaluate our model on e-sports and baseball videos.

  • Accurate rendering of a virtual scene in real time has been one of important issues for virtual reality (VR) technology. Specular reflection of light has been studied a long time, which is always seen on a metallic object and causes occasionally very strong brightness (highlight). Due to restriction of number of gradation of brightness (usually 256), maximum brightness and contrast ratio, the highlight is relatively weakly represented by displays and projectors. In addition, specular reflection will be take influence of binocular parallax and motion parallax, because it is light to reflect in a specific course. Therefore in this paper, an emphasized highlight model of a metallic object on the CAVE system is proposed. Decreasing brightness slightly on neighbor area of highlighted area, the proposed method increases contrast ratio between the highlighted area and neighbor area. Furthermore, using features of CAVE, the proposed method also represents glance (blink). When a metallic object moves, the method alternatively represents images with highlight and without highlight for both eyes. Since the difference of images for both eyes influences binocular parallax and motion parallax, a userfeels glance more realistically.

  • In order to understand the protection effects of antioxidant enzymes against oxidative stress caused by various environmental stresses, transgenic tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum cv, Xanthi) plants expressing both copper/zinc superoxide dismutase (CuZnSOD) and ascorbate peroxidase (APX) in chloroplasts (referred to as CA plants) were subjected to highlight (1,100$\mu$mol m$^{-2}$ sec$^{-1}$) and chilling at 4$^{\circ}C$. The protection effects of CA plants using leaf discs were compared with those of transgenic plants expressing either CuZnSOD or APX in chloroplasts (SOD plants or APX plants, respectively) and non-transgenic (NT) plants. CA plants showed about 15% protection in the photosynthetic efficiency (Fv/Fm) of photosystem II relative to NT plants 1 hr after treatment of both highlight and chilling, whereas they showed about 23% protection in the redox state of P700 in photosystem I at 3 hr after treatment. SOD plants or APX plants showed an intermediate protection effect between CA plants and NT plants. These results demonstrated that the coexpression of CuZnSOD and APX in chloroplasts importantly involves in the protection effects against oxidative stress caused by various environmental stresses.

  • This paper proposes a distributed highlight algorithm to generate efficiently echo signal for underwater target. In this algorithm, echo signal is synthesized by discontinuity highlights that are varied to incident angle, by equivalent and specified position highlights according to the spatial target structure. Completed UTAHID(Underwater TArget by Highlight Distribution) model is confrimed that PTS, ETS, echo elongation effect, target time spreading loss and envelope fluctuation are satisfied to expected values by various simulations. Thus it can be efficiently used in all sorts of real systems related to underwater target echo signal synthesis in active sonar.

  • Simulation of the target-scattered echo requires the understanding of scattering mechanism at the highlight points. In this paper, the basic assumption of Highlight Model is reviewed through the analyzed data obtained in the acoustic water tank experiment. The analysis shows that the scattering mechanism involves pulse elongation and frequency shift as elements of target-scattered echo, and that the internal structures affect the temporal response of the target-scattered echo significantly. The band-limited impulse response or Green's function due to the diffraction from highlight points of internal structures is not mere delta function, but acts like a filter, which causes frequency shift and is elongated in time.

  • This paper proposes an illuminant compensation method using a camera noise analysis without segmentation in the dichromatic reflectance model. In general, pixels within highlight regions include large amounts of information on the image illuminant. Thus, the analysis of highlight regions provides a relatively easy means of determining the characteristics of an image illuminant. Currently, conventional methods require regional segmentation and the accuracy of this segmentation then affects the illuminant estimation. Therefore, the proposed method estimates the illuminant without segmentation based on a conformity assessment of highlight regions. Furthermore, error factors, such as noise and sensor non-uniformity, can be reduced by the conformity assessment.

  • This Paper the practical echo signal synthesis model to predict the target strength and signal shape of a submarine for a valuable tool to active sonar engineer. It is based on UTAHID (Underwater TArget by Highlight Distribution) model which is relocated highlight points along to external hull for aspect angle, and synthesized echo signal by modified grouping highlights to internal scatter cloud. Proposed model is analyzed target strength characteristics on various incident pulse length, and synthesis signal signature, target time spreading loss, echo elongation effect and so on. Thus it can be efficiently used in various real systems related to underwater target echo signal synthesis, that is, active sonar, acoustic countermeasure and surveillance system.
