볼 베어링의 응력 기반 접촉피로수명 예측 (Stress based Fatigue Life Prediction for Ball Bearing)

  • The method for fatigue life prediction of ball bearing is proposed applying the algorithm of contact fatigue prediction based on stress analysis. In order to do this, a series of simulation such as initial surface stress analysis, EHL analysis, subsurface stress analysis and fatigue analysis are conducted from the loading at each ball location calculated for a bearing subjected to external bearing load and contact shape function. And uniaxial fatigue tests are performed to obtain fatigue parameter of AISI 52100 steel. It was found that since stress is usually higher at the inner raceway contact than at the outer raceway contact, fatigue failure occurs on the inner raceway first. When the fatigue life calculated in the stress-based method are compared with L50 life of L-P model, Crossland criterion for the radial load increment is similar to L50 life and Dang Van criterion for the axial load increment is similar. In the case of EHL contact, there is no difference of fatigue life between dry contact and EHL contact, when maximum Hertz pressure exceeds 2.5GPa.

Progressive failure of symmetric laminates under in-plane shear : I-positive shear

  • The objective of this present work is to estimate the failure loads, associated maximum transverse displacements, locations and the modes of failure, including the onset of delamination, of thin, square symmetric laminates under the action in-plane positive (+ve) shear load. Two progressive failure analyses, one using the Hashin criterion and the other using a Tensor polynomial criterion, are used in conjunction with finite element method. First order shear deformation theory along with geometric non-linearity in the von Karman sense have been employed. Variation of failure loads and failure characteristics with five type of lay-ups and three types of boundary conditions has been investigated in detail. It is observed that the maximum difference between failure loads predieted by various criteria depends strongly on the laminate lay-up and the flexural boundary restraint. Laminates with clamped edges are found to be more susceptible to failure due to transverse shear (ensuing from the out of plane bending) and delamination, while those with simply supported edges undergo total collapse at a load slightly higher than the fiber failure load. The investigation on negative (-ve) in-plane shear load is in progress and will be communicated as part-II of the present work.

  • 이 논문에서는 트래킹 터널 또는 트래킹 카드를 이용하여 살아있는 곤충의 발자국을 획득한 후 남겨진 발자국 패턴을 이용하여 곤충의 부류나 종류를 판단하는 인식 시스템을 위한 전처리 과정을 살펴본다. 특히 발자국 패턴을 획득하는 과정과 곤충 발자국의 특징을 추출하기에 적합한 스캔된 발자국 이미지의 이진화 과정에 대하여 고찰한다. 이진화 과정에서는 기존에 발표된 대표적인 이진화 알고리듬 3가지를 구현하여 비교 분석하였다. 비교 분석 결과 Abutaleb에 의해 제안된 고차 엔트로피 이진화 알고리듬이 가장 우수한 결과를 보였다.

  • 센서 및 네트워크 기술 발전에 따라 지휘통제 정보가 폭증하고 있다. 지휘통제(C2) 분야에서는 정보의 적시 처리가 매우 중요하다. 한정된 자원으로 모든 정보를 적시 처리하는 것이 제한된다면, 우선순위가 높은 정보를 먼저 처리하여야 한다. 이를 위해 추천 시스템 기술이 가용하다. 추천 시스템은 수많은 아이템 중 사용자에게 적합한 아이템을 골라내어 우선순위가 높은 순으로 제시할 수 있기 때문이다. 이 연구는 군 통신망 구현에서 널리 쓰이는 트리플-메트릭 우선순위 기준을 쿼드러플-메트릭 우선순위 기준으로 확장하고, 그에 따른 지휘통제 정보 추천 시스템을 제안하고, 실험을 통해 그에 대한 타당성을 보인다.

가중치를 고려한 슬라이딩 모드 제어기 설계 (Sliding Mode Controller Design Considering Weight)

  • 일반적인 슬라이딩 모드 제어기 동조 방법은 동조 피라미터의 수가 플랜트의 차수에 비례하기 때문에 고차의 프로세스에서는 어렵고, 실용적이지 못하다. Camacho(1996)은 고차의 프로세스를 시간 지연 항이 포함된 1차 프로세스로 모델링한 고정 구조 슬라이딩 모드 제어기 설계 방법을 제안하였다. 그러나 Camacho가 제안한 방법은 시간 지연 항을 1차 Taylor 급수로 근사화하는 과정에서 발생되는 근사 오차에 의해 오버슈트, 정착시간, 명령추종 등에 문제점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 이를 개선하기 위해 가중치를 고려한 새로운 형태의 Taylor 근사 기법과 이를 토대로 새로운 슬라이딩 모드 제어기 설계 방법을 제안하고자 한다.

한국형 포장관리시스템을 활용한 장수명 아스팔트 포장의 경제성 분석 (Economic Analysis of Long-life Asphalt Pavements using KoPMS)

  • PURPOSES : Long-life asphalt pavements are used widely in developed countries. In order to be able to devise an effective maintenance strategy for such pavements, in this study, we evaluated the performance of the long-life asphalt pavements constructed along the national highways in South Korea. Further, an economic evaluation of the long-life asphalt pavements was performed based on a life-cycle cost analysis. We aimed to devise a model for evaluating the performance of long-life asphalt pavements using the national highway pavement management system (PMS) database as well as for analyzing the economic feasibility of such pavements, in order to promote their use in South Korea. METHODS : The maintenance history and pavement performance data were obtained from the national highway PMS database. The pavement performances for a total of 292 sections of 10 lanes (5 northbound lanes and 5 eastbound lanes) of national highways were used in this study. Models to predict the performances of hot mix asphalt (HMA) and long-life asphalt pavements under two distinct traffic conditions were developed using a simple regression method. Further, the economic feasibility of long-life asphalt pavements was evaluated using the Korea Pavement Management System (KoPMS). RESULTS : We developed service-life prediction models based on the traffic volume and the equivalent of single-axle load and found that long-life asphalt pavements have service lives 50% longer than those of HMA pavements. Further, the results of the economic analysis showed that long-life asphalt pavements are superior in terms of various economic indexes, including user cost, delay cost, total cost, and user benefits, even though their maintenance cost is higher than that of HMA pavements. A comparison of the economic feasibilities of the various groups showed that group A is superior to HMA pavements in all aspects except in terms of the maintenance criterion (crack 20% or higher) as per the NPV index. However, the long-life asphalt pavements in group B were superior in terms of the maintenance criterion (crack 25% or higher) regardless of the economic feasibility. CONCLUSIONS : The service life of long-life asphalt pavements was found to be approximately 50% longer than that of HMA pavements, regardless of the traffic volume characteristics. The economic feasibility of long-life asphalt pavements was evaluated based on the KoPMS. The results of the economic analysis were the following: long-life asphalt pavements are exceptional in terms of almost all factors, such as user cost, delay cost, total cost, and user benefit; however, the exception is the maintenance cost. Further, the economic feasibility of the long-life asphalt pavements in group B was found to be better than that of the HMA pavements (crack 25% or higher).

Augmented D-Optimal Design for Effective Response Surface Modeling and Optimization

  • For effective response surface modeling during sequential approximate optimization (SAO), the normalized and the augmented D-optimality criteria are presented. The normalized D-optimality criterion uses the normalized Fisher information matrix by its diagonal terms in order to obtain a balance among the linear-order and higher-order terms. Then, it is augmented to directly include other experimental designs or the pre-sampled designs. This augmentation enables the trust region managed sequential approximate optimization to directly use the pre-sampled designs in the overlapped trust regions in constructing the new response surface models. In order to show the effectiveness of the normalized and the augmented D-optimality criteria, following two comparisons are performed. First, the information surface of the normalized D-optimal design is compared with those of the original D-optimal design. Second, a trust-region managed sequential approximate optimizer having three D-optimal designs is developed and three design problems are solved. These comparisons show that the normalized D-optimal design gives more rotatable designs than the original D-optimal design, and the augmented D-optimal design can reduce the number of analyses by 30% - 40% than the original D-optimal design.

  • 축소배율(M=+1/5)을 갖는 극자외선(deep ultra-violet) 리소그라피용 5-반사광학계를 설계하였다. 먼저 모든 3차 수차와 5차 구면수차를 영으로 하는 수치적인 해를 구면에 대해서 구하였다. 다음 비교적 크게 나타나는 잔류 수차(구면수차, 코마)의 제거를 위하여 마지막 두 반사경에 대하여 비구면화를 optimization방법에 의해 이행하였다. 이렇게 하여 얻은 광학계는 광원을 KrF 엑시머 레이저(파장 $0.248{\mu}m$)로 하는 nearly incoherent illumination(${\sigma}$=1)인 경우, NA는 0.45, 분해능은 50% MTF 기준치에서 depth of focus $1.0{\mu}m$에 대해 약 500 cycles/mm의 성능을 갖는 시스템이 되었다.

초등학교 고학년의 식습관 및 영양 지식에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Dietary Habits and Nutritional Knowledge of High-grade Students in Elementary School)

  • This study was performed to investigate the dietary habits and nutritional knowledge of elementary school students (boy : 250, girl : 250) by gender. Frequency of skipping breakfast was high in both boys and girls. Duration of mealtime was significantly higher for boys compared with girls (p<0.001). Regularity of meals was not significantly different between boys and girls. Reason for irregular meals was 'no appetite' for both boys (39.6%) and girls (40.0%). Unbalanced diet was high in both boys (60.8%) and girls (59.6%), and problems related to dietary habits were in order of 'unbalance diet', 'irregular mealtime', 'overeating', 'skip a meal frequently', and 'eat out frequently'. Frequency of snack intake was significantly higher for girls compared to boys(p<0.05). The criterion for selecting snacks was higher for 'nutrition' compared to 'good taste' for both boys and girls. Frequency of eating out was statistically insignificant, and eating out preferences were in the order of 'Korean food', 'western food', and 'Chinese food'. Eating behavior 'eat meat, fish, egg, tofu every meal' was significantly higher for boys compared to girls (p<0.01). 'Healthful' response rates were 57.6% for boys and 58.8% for girls. Practice level of nutritional knowledge was significantly higher in girls compared to boys (p<0.001). To establish good eating behaviors, we should develop systematic and continuous education programs.

Seismic fragility of regular masonry buildings for in-plane and out-of-plane failure

  • The seismic vulnerability of stone masonry buildings is studied on the basis of their fragility curves. In order to account for out-of-plane failure modes, normally disregarded in past studies, linear static Finite Element analysis in 3D of prototype regular buildings is performed using a nonlinear biaxial failure criterion for masonry. More than 1100 analyses are carried out, so as to cover the practical range of the most important parameters, namely the number of storeys, percentage of side length in exterior walls taken up by openings, wall thickness, plan dimensions and number of interior walls, type of floor and pier height-to-length ratio. Results are presented in the form of damage and fragility curves. The fragility curves correspond well to the damage observed in masonry buildings after strong earthquakes and are in good agreement with other fragility curves in the literature. They confirm what is already known, namely that buildings with stiff floors or higher percentage of load-bearing walls are less vulnerable, and that large openings, taller storeys, larger number of storeys, higher wall slenderness and higher ratio of clear height to horizontal length of walls increase the vulnerability, but show also by how much.
