질화유리의 고속충돌 저항물성 (A Resistance Property Against High Velocity Impact on Oxynitride Glasses)

  • Several oxynitride glasses were fabricated by means of adding $Si_3N_4$ powders as nitrogen source to Ca-Al-Si-O-N (CAS) and Mg-Al-Si-O-N (MAS) glass powders, and heat-treated in graphite crucible at 1600$^{\circ}C$ for 1 h. The physical and mechanical properties as well as impact resistance were generally increased and compared with each other. The impact resistance properties of those manufactured glasses were evaluated by DOP (depth of penetration) method which is a way to analyze armor materials. There were two means to be used herein; the copper jet impacted at hyper velocity by exploding K2l5 warhead and tungsten heavy alloy (WHA) impact bar at high velocity by firing in 30 mm solid propellent gun. The impact resistance properties against copper jet were increased and then decreased with increasing nitrogen content, while those against WHA bar were not changed apparently with nitrogen content.

  • Convective nucleate boiling and burnout heat flux have been studied on a flat, downward facing, constant heat flux surface cooled by an impinging water jet. The tests are progressed from low, nonboiling power to high, burnout heat flux power. The jet velocity and the subcooling do not affect the nucleate boiling curve of $q{\sim}{\Delta}T_{sat}$ diagram, but the supplementary water height affects the curve. For the case of dimensionless height of supplementary water S/D=1, the boiling curve shift to the heigher heat flux than that of S/D=0 or S/D=2. Burnout heat flux is enhanced with increasing jet velocity and subcooling. Also. by using the supplementary water(S/D=1 or S/D=2), burnout heat flux is larger than that of the simple water jet(S/D=0). A generalized correlation for the burnout heat flux data in the present boiling system with an impinging water jet is successfully evolved.

와이어 망을 이용한 충돌 수분류의 열전달 증진 (Heat Transfer Augmenttaion by use of Wire Mesh-Screens in Impinging Water Jet)

  • Axisymmetric circular water jet impinges against rectangular heated surface with uniform hear flux and wire-mesh screens are set up in the nozzle-to-heater space to augment heat transfer. In the free jet region to be used them, pressure drop and intensive turbulence flow was brought up. When water jet system is not used wire-mesh screens, maximum heat transfer appears in the stagnation point and the secondary maximum appears X/D=4 but it disappears when they are is used. In the low velocity(Vo<6.0m/s), coarse mesh-screen enhanced heat transfer but fine mesh-screens inpeded heat transfer. In the high velocity(Vo>6m/s), all of them enhanced heat transfer. Average Nusselt number of experimental system to be used wire-mesh screens was promoted $4{\sim}6$times than that of simple water jet system. The stagnation heat transfer of experimental system to be used wire-mesh screens was augmented 6times that of simple water jet system.

  • The effect of electric fields on the stability of non-premixed laminar lifted flame in coflow jets has been investigated by applying high voltage alternative current (AC) to the nozzle of propane fuel. The stable lifted flame which exist in far field of jets, the liftoff height was not effected by applied voltage. This implies that the cold jet between the nozzle and flame base can be analyzed with the previous cold jet theory. Flame liftoff and reattachment velocities were also measured as function of applied voltage and frequency. The fuel jet velocity at flame liftoff and reattachment increased with increasing voltage, implying that the range of flame srability can be extended with the AC charging. However the liftoff velocity increased with frequency of AC charging on nozzle, whereas the reattachment velocity decreases with frequency. The liftoff and reattachment velocities were correlated linearly with voltage considering the effects of frequency.

항성 제트의 원통형 혼합층 모델 (CYLINDRICAL MIXING LAYER MODEL IN STELLAR JET)

  • We have developed a cylindrical mixing layer model of a stellar jet including cooling effect in order to understand an optical emission mechanism along collimated high velocity stellar jets associated with young stellar objects. The cylindrical results have been calculated to be the same as the 2D ones presented by Canto & Raga(1991) because the entrainment efficiency in our cylindrical model has been obtained to be the same value as the 2D model has given. We have discussed the morphological and physical characteristics of the mixing layers by the cooling effect. As the jet Mach number increases, the initial temperature of the mixing layer goes high because the kinetic energy of the jet partly converts to the thermal energy of the mixing layer. The initial cooling of the mixing layer is very severe, changing its outer boundary radius. A subsequent change becomes adiabatic. The number of the Mach disks in the stellar jet and the total radiative luminosity of the mixing layer, based on our cylindrical calculation, have quite agreed with the observations.

  • Water jet propulsion system has low efficiency than screw propeller at low speed, but has been applied in high speed ship due to its better cavitation performance and high rotation capacity. In this study, a numerical analysis was conduct to understand the flow in the propulsion system of 200HP grade water jet for small ship. As the result, it could be confirmed that total pressure and force of the flow was increased through the impeller and the straight-ability of discharging flow to outlet was improved by guide vane. Also, the reliability of numerical analysis was secured by comparing peripheral velocity calculated by design values with that calculated by numerical analysis.

  • In this study, the velocity characteristics of liquid elements formed by two impinging jets is analysed using double pulse image capturing technique. For the droplets formed by low speed impinging jets, the droplet velocities are higher with smaller azimuthal and impingement angle. The maximum droplet velocities are about 25 % lower than jet velocity. With an increase of azimuthal angle, the shedding angles increases but remains lower than azimuthal angle. The velocities of ligaments formed by high speed impinging jets gradually decreases with an increase of azimuthal angle. The maximum ligament velocities are about 40 % lower than jet velocity. Higher impingement angles produce lower ligament velocities. The shedding angles of ligament almost increases with the same value of azimuthal angle, which implies that the moving direction of ligaments is radial from the origin as the impingement point.

Multi-array/multi-location synthetic jet을 이용한 박리 제어 (Separation control using multi-array/multi-location synthetic jet)

  • 고받음각의 NACA23012익형에 대하여 synthetic jet을 이용하여 박리 제어를 수행하였다. 단일 synthetic jet을 이용하여 익형에 발생하는 앞전 박리를 효과적으로 지연시킬 수 있고, 또한 실속 특성을 개선 할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 그때 발생하는 비정상 유동 특성을 파악하였다. 또한, 현실적으로 구현 가능한 jet 속도를 얻기 위하여 multi-array synthetic jet의 특성을 파악하였다. 그리고, 단일 위치에 장착된 synthetic jet을 이용하여 박리를 제어 하였을 경우 익형 윗면에 발생하는 작은 와동을 제거하기 위하여, multi-location synthetic jet을 이용하였다. 작은 와동을 제거하고 안정적인 유동을 확보하기 위하여, 높은 진동수의 synthetic jet을 이용하여 국부적으로 효과적인 박리 제어를 통한 익형 주변의 유동의 전체적 특성을 안정화 시킬 수 있음을 확인하였다. Multi-location synthetic jet의 phase 변화를 이용하여 multi-array/multi-location synthetic jet의 성능 및 특성을 향상 시킬 수 있음을 확인하였다.

자유분류와 충돌분류의 소음특성에 관한 실험적 비교 (Experimental comparison on the noise characteristics of free and impinging jets)

  • The objective of this study is to find experimentally the characteristics of the noise generated by the impinging jet on the normal plate, and also to compare the noise characteristics of the impinging jet with those of the free jet. The experiment is performed for the measurement of the noise specturm, the noise power, and the directivity for the free and impinging jets. From the experiment. it is found that the power of noises generated by the free jet as well as the impinging jet is proportional to the eighth power of the jet velocity through the circular converging nozzle, and that the noise power of the impinging jet is 15dB as high as one of the free jet when the plate distance is about within one to three times the nozzle diameter at the pressure ratio 1.39. The sound pressure level of the impinging jet depends upon the jet pressure and the plate distance. The plate distance with the maximum overall sound pressure level is increased with the jet pressure. The directivities with 1/3 octave band frequency for both the free jet and the impinging jet are greatly influenced by the convection effect.
