The domestic and foreign scholars conducted many studies on mechanical properties of wave web steel beam and high-strength spiral stirrups confined concrete columns. Based on the previous research work, studies were conducted on the anti-seismic property of the end plate bolt connected wave web steel beam and high-strength spiral stirrups confined concrete column nodes applied with pre-tightening force. Four full-size node test models in two groups were designed for low-cycle repeated loading quasi-static test. Through observation of the stress, distortion, failure process and failure mode of node models, analysis was made on its load-carrying capacity, deformation performance and energy dissipation capacity, and the reliability of the new node was verified. The results showed that: under action of the beam-end stiffener, the plastic hinges on the end of wave web steel beam are displaced outward and played its role of energy dissipation capacity. The study results provided reliable theoretical basis for the engineering application of the new types of nodes.
In high multistory reinforced concrete buildings, coupled shear walls can provide an efficient structural system to resist horizontal force due to wind and seismic effects. Coupled shear walls are usually built over the whole height of the building and re laid out either as a series of walls coupled by beams and/or slabs or a central core structure with openings to accommodate doors, elevators walls, windows and corridors. A number of recent studies have focused on examining the seismic response of concrete, steel, and composite coupling beams. However, since no specific equations are available for computing the bearing strength of steel coupling beam-wall connections, it is necessary to develop such strength equations. There were carried out analytical and experimental studies to develop the strength equations of steel coupling beam-connections. Experiments were conducted to determine the factors influencing the bearing strength of the steel coupling beam-wall connection. The results of the proposed equations were in good agreement with both test results and other test data from the literature. Finally, this paper provides background for design guidelines that include a design model to calculate the bearing strength of steel coupling beam-wall connections.

Four types of repair procedures are applied to the fatigue cracked crane runway gilders, which are stop-holes as crack arrester stop-holes reinforced with high strength bolts, welding repair and reinforcement with high strength bolted splices. The fatgiue cracks are reinitiated at the region where stop-holes and weld repairments are applied, while none of the cracks are observed in the cases of stop-holes reinforcement and reinforcement with high strength bolted splices. When using stop-holes and hole-reinforcement all repaired regions show a same fatigue strength to the one before the repairments. The experiments also reveal that the proper weldment is an essential factor when applying the welding repairement as a properly welding produces the same level of fatigue strength after the repairement. When the situation permits to use reinforcement with high strength boilted splices, the experiments shows the repairment is the best possible method among the procedures available.

The high-tension bolted joints are clamped by the axial force which approaches the yielding strength. The introduced axial force is transmitted to the connection members pass through washer. The transferred load in connections is balanced to the compressive stress of plates, axial force in bolts and the external loads. In this mechanism, the compressive stress and slip load we dominated by the effective stiffness of bolted joints and plates. In general the effective stiffness is specified to product to the effective area and elasticity modulus in connections. In this reason, the conic projection formular which is assumed that the axial force in bolts is distributed to the cone shape and that region is related to the elastic deformation mechanism in connections, was proposed. But it conclude what kind of formula is justified. Therefore in this paper, the fatigue tests are performed to the high tension bolted joints and inspected to the phase on the friction face. And using the FEM and numerical method, it is analyzed and approximated to the compressive stress distribution and its region. Moreover, it is estimated to the effective area and to the relation the friction area to the effective compressive distribution region.

The offshore plant structure has been transported to the site by barge because it is hard to manufacture in site. When the structure was transported on the sea, offshore plant structures and connection were experienced repetitive submarine load. For this reason, it was known for that the axial force of high-strength bolted connection was declined. Therefore, in this study, high-strength bolted connection was evaluated the shear fatigue performance under longtime fatigue load during marine transport. The experimental variables were selected intial axial force, surface type, and bolt type because they ar important factors in the change of axial force of bolts. As a experimental results of considering various variables, the variation of axial force showed within 1%. Therefore, the high-strength bolted connection was verified structural safety under longtime fatigue load.
The conception and experimental assessment of a removable friction-based shear connector (FBSC) for precast steel-concrete composite bridges is presented. The FBSC uses pre-tensioned high-strength steel bolts that pass through countersunk holes drilled on the top flange of the steel beam. Pre-tensioning of the bolts provides the FBSC with significant frictional resistance that essentially prevents relative slip displacement of the concrete slab with respect to the steel beam under service loading. The countersunk holes are grouted to prevent sudden slip of the FBSC when friction resistance is exceeded. Moreover, the FBSC promotes accelerated bridge construction by fully exploiting prefabrication, does not raise issues relevant to precast construction tolerances, and allows rapid bridge disassembly to drastically reduce the time needed to replace any deteriorating structural component (e.g., the bridge deck). A series of 11 push-out tests highlight why the novel structural details of the FBSC result in superior shear load-slip displacement behavior compared to welded shear studs. The paper also quantifies the effects of bolt diameter and bolt preload and presents a design equation to predict the shear resistance of the FBSC.

Method of Steel plate reinforced by fiber sheet is advantageous in the secure loading facility. For this method are a light weight and a high strength, the thickness of steel can be reduced Effects of composite system are depreciated when the thickness of steel is thin. This is the result of the difference of ductility ratio with steel plate. Steel plate reinforced by fiber sheets confirms the ability of transformation. This is the result of the property of steel materials Steel plate reinforced by fiber sheet didn't display an enough performance when theadhesives are epoxy rosin. This is the result of the slide of the surface of stee1. The adhesive ability is varied by the number and span of anchor bolts. There wasn't happening the separation between steel and epoxy. Thus the method used in combination with anchor and epoxy is best excellent. This is the result of the upward of accumulation effects Shearing force is in proportion to the number of bolts. But the ability of shearing force per one bolt is reducing. Thickness of steel plate reinforced by fiber sheet must be designed so that steel is endure before concrete is wreck.
The excavation broken zones (EBZ) of gateways is a significant factor in determining the stability of man-made opening. The EBZ of 55 gateways with variety geological conditions were measured using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). The results found that the greatly depth of EBZ, the smallest is 1.5 m and the deepest is 3.5 m. Experimental investigations were carried out in the laboratory and in the coal mine fields for applying the combined arch support theory to large EBZ. The studies found that resin bolts with high tensile strength and good bond force could provide high pretension force with bolt extensible anchorage method in the field. Furthermore, the recently invented torque amplifier could greatly improve the bolt pretension force in poor lithology. The FLAC3D numerical simulation found that the main diffusion sphere of pretension force was only in the free segment zone of the surrounding rock. Further analysis found that the initial load-bearing zone thickness of the combined arch structure in large EBZ could be expressed by the free segment length of bolt. The using of high mechanical property bolts and steel with high pretension force will clearly putting forward the bolt length selection rule based on the combined arch support theory.

Strenght and ductility are major factors in the aseismic design of a bridge pier. In spite of good performance in both steel piers have not been used widely due to high cost. But with the filled-in concrete the steel pier have advantages compare to the steel pier only such as improved strength ductility fast construction small section and reasonable cost. In this paper concrete-filled steel piers are tested using quasi-static cyclic lateral load with constant axial load to evaluate the performance. The secondary reinforcement devices such as bolts corner plate and turn buckle are used inside of the piers to improve the ductility with minimum additional cost. Test results shows filled-in concrete and secondary reinforcement devices increase the strength and the ductility of the steel pier.
Shear connections in steel structures should satisfy dual criteria of shear strength and rotational flexibility and ductility. The connection should be strong enough to transfer the shear reaction of the beam, and should have sufficient rotational flexibility and ductility to rotate easily and supply the end rotation demand of the beam. This paper is concerned with the behavior of double-angle shear connections where the parameters are numbers of high strength bolts, bolt pitch, the length of angle leg, and connection method. An experimental investigation of shear connection was conducted by testing 12 beam-to-column joint specimens. Based on experimental and analytical study, the failure modes are developed and proposed design formulas.
