The architecture and the implementation details of a UTMI(USB2.0 Transceiver Macrocell Interface) compatible USB2.0 transceiver chip were presented. To confirm the validation of the incoming data in noisy channel environment, a squelch state detector and a current mode Schmitt-trigger circuit were proposed. A current mode output driver to transmit 480Mbps data on the USB cable was designed and an on-die termination(ODT) which is controlled by a replica bias circuit was presented. In the USB system using plesiochronous clocking, to compensate for the frequency difference between a transmitter and a receiver, a synchronizer using clock data recovery circuit and FIFO was designed. The USB cable was modeled as the lossy transmission line model(W model) for circuit simulation by using a network analyzer measurements. The USB2.0 PHY chip was implemented by using 0.25um CMOS process and test results were presented. The core area excluding the IO pads was $0.91{\times}1.82mm^2$. The power consumptions at the supply voltage of 2.5V were 245mW and 150mW for high-speed and full-speed operations, respectively.
Stabilization and reduction of combustion noise and NOx emission from dry low NOx combustor of GE MS7001F gas turbine were achieved. Dry low NOx gas turbines that adopt the lean premixed combustion technology frequently generate the flame instability and high NOx emissions if not adequately tuned. Dynamic pressure oscillation during the combustion mode transfer increased as ambient temperature decreased with frequency of 80㎐ and magnitude of 4-9 psi. Effects of both combustor tuning for uniform fuel flow with burner nozzles and fuel pre-filling into transfer fuel valves on stabilisation of the dry low NOx combustor were very significant. Dynamic pressure oscillation during the combustion mode change was decreased up to 2.5 psi. Also, NOx emission from GE7F DLN-1 combustor can be maintained as low as 35-43ppm (15% O$_2$) in base load operation of 150 MW.
The MSC is a remote sensing instrument with very high performance that is to be installed on KOMPSAT2 satellite. The MSC consists of EOS (Electro-Optic Subsystem), PMU (Payload Management Unit) and PDTS (Payload Data Transmission Subsystem). PMU controls and monitors all the other payload units by sending commands and collecting telemetry. PMU is in charge of interfacing between payload system and satellite bus system. PMU gets commands from ground-station via OBC (On-Board Computer) that is a main controller of the satellite bus system and sends telemetry to the ground-station via OBC. There is a processor module, called SBC (Single Board Computer) in the PMU. The SBC is a main controller of the MSC system. The main roles of the SBC are payload mission management, command validation and execution, telemetry collection and monitoring, ancillary data handling, event reporting, power control of payload sub-units and communication with these units. Intel's 80486DX2 processor has been used for the SBC. Due to the fact that the SBC plays important roles for imaging mission execution and handles a lot of control data that is required for payload operation, it is required to make analysis of the CPU load when it is in maximum operation mode. In this paper, the analysis and measurement results of the SBC throughput in the maximum operation mode.
We explore the linkage between the long term variability of the Sun and earth's climate change by analysing periodicities of time series of solar proxies and global temperature anomalies. We apply the power spectral estimation method named as the periodgram to solar proxies and global temperature anomalies. We also decompose global temperature anomalies and reconstructed total solar irradiance into each local variability components by applying the EMD (Empirical Mode Decomposition) and MODWT MRA (Maximal Overlap Discrete Wavelet Multi Resolution Analysis). Powers for solar proxies at low frequencies are lower than those of high frequencies. On the other hand, powers for temperature anomalies show the other way. We fail to decompose components which having lager than 40 year variabilities from EMD, but both residuals are well decomposed respectively. We determine solar induced components from the time series of temperature anomalies and obtain 39% solar contribution on the recent global warming. We discuss the climate system can be approximated with the second order differential equation since the climate sensitivity can only determine the output amplitude of the signal.
In recent years, techniques for micro-assembly with high repeatability under a scanning electron microscope (SEM) are required to construct highly functional micro-devices. Adhesion phenomenon is more significant for smaller objects, becanse adhesional force is proportional to size of the objects while gravitational force is proportional to the third power of it. It is also known that adhesional force between micro-objects exposed to Electron Beam irradiation of SEM increases with the elapsed time. Therefore, mechanical manipulation techniques using a needle-shaped tool by adhesional force are often adopted in basic researches where micro-objects are studied. These techniques, however, have not yet achieved the desired repeatability because many of these could not have been supported theoretically. Some techniques even need the process of trial-and-error. Thus, in this paper, mechanical and adhesional micro-manipulation are analyzed theoretically by introducing new physical factors, such as adhesional force and rolling-resistance, into the kinematic system consisting of a sphere, a needle-shaped tool, and a substrate. Through this analysis, they are revealed that how the micro-sphere behavior depends on the given conditions, and that it is possible to cause the fracture of the desired contact interfaces selectively by controlling the force direction in which the tool-tip loads to the sphere. Based on the acquired knowledge, a mode diagram, which indicates the micro-sphere behavior for the given conditions, is designed. By refening to this mode diagram, the practical technique of the pick and place manipulation of a micro-sphere under an SEM by the selective interface fracture is proposed.

A common drain feedback CMOS wideband LNA with current bleeding and input inductive series-peaking techniques is presented in this paper. DC coupling is adopted between cascode and feedback amplifiers, so that the gain and NF of the LNA can be dynamically controlled by adjusting the bleeding current. The fabricated LNA shows the bandwidth of 2.5 GHz. The high gain mode shows 17.5 dB gain with $1.7{\sim}2.8\;dB$ NF and consumes 27 mW power and the low gain mode has 14 dB gain with $2.7{\sim}4.0\;dB$ NF and dissipates 1.8 mW from 1.8 V supply.

PURPOSE. The aim of this Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopic study was to measure the degree of conversion (DC) of dual-cured resin cements light-irradiated through zirconia ceramic disks with different thicknesses using various light-curing methods. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Zirconia ceramic disks (KT12) with three different thicknesses (1.0, 2.0, and 4.0 mm) were prepared. The light transmittance of the disks was measured using ultraviolet visible near-infrared spectroscopy. Four different light-curing protocols were used by combining two curing light modes (Elipar TriLight (standard mode) and bluephase G2 (high power mode)) with light-exposure times of 40 and 120 seconds. The DCs of the two dual-cured resin cements (Duo-Link and Panavia F2.0) light-irradiated through the disks was analyzed at three time intervals (3, 7, and 10 minutes) by FTIR spectroscopy. The data was analyzed using repeated measures ANOVA (${\alpha}$=.05).Two-way ANOVA and Tukey post hoc test were used to analyze the 10 minute DC results. RESULTS. The 1.0 mm thick disk exhibited low light transmittance (<25%), and the transmittance decreased considerably with increasing disk thickness. All groups exhibited significantly higher 10 minute DC values than the 3 or 7 minute values (P<.05), but some exceptions were observed in Duo-Link. Two-way ANOVA revealed that the influence of the zirconia disk thickness on the 10 minute DC was dependent on the light-curing methods (P<.001). This finding was still valid even at 4.0 mm thickness, where substantial light attenuation took place. CONCLUSION. The curing of the dual-cured resin cements was affected significantly by the light-curing technique, even though the additional chemical polymerization mechanism worked effectively.

This paper designs sigma-delta D/A Converter with a high resolution and low power consumption. It reorganizes the input data along LJ, RJ, I2S mode and bit mode to the output data of A/D converter. The D/A converter decodes the original analog signal through HBF, Hold and 5th CIFB(Cascaded Integrators with distributed Feedback as well as distributed input coupling) sigma-delta modulation blocks. It uses repeatedly the addition operation in instead of the multiply operation for the chip area and the performance. Also, the half band filters of similar architecture composed the one block and it used the sample-hold block instead of the sinc filter. We supposed simple D/A Converter decreased in area. The filters of the block analyzed using the matlab tool. The top block designed using the top-down method by verilog language. The designed block is fabricated using Samsung 0.35um CMOS standard cell library. The chip area is 1500*1500um.

This paper presents application results of the augmented matrix eigen-sensitivity theories to TCSC siting problem for damping the inter-area low frequency oscillation in the large KEPCO system. First and second-order eigen-sensitivities of the inter-area low frequency oscillation in the large KEPCO system. First and second-order eigen-sensitivities of the inter-area mode are computed fro changes in susceptance of the transmission lines. The lines having high sensitivity are chosen as the initial candidates for installing TCSC. Then for each of the chosen candidates, Bodeplot of the transfer function with line susceptance as the input and the bus voltage at one side of the line as the output is computed. Using the Bode plots, the lines having any zeros near the inter-area mode are screened out since design of TCSC controller is very difficult in such a case. The $H_{\infty}$ TCSC controller installed at any finally chosen candidate is found to be effective in damping the inter-area oscillation, and the proposed TCSC siting algorithm is proved to be valid. Design of $H_{\infty}$ controller is described in Part IIof this paper.

In this paper, we described the fabrication and the performance of wavelength tunable distributed bragg reflector (DBR) laser diode (LD), having different waveguide coupling mechanisms; integrated-twin-guide (ITG) DBR-LD and butt coupled (BT) DBR-LD. This deviceis fabricated by metal organic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE) growth and planar buried heterostructure (PBH)-type transverse current confinement structure. The result of measurement, the optical performance of BT-DBR-LD is better over 2 times than that of ITG-DBR-LD at the variation of threshold current and output power, and slop efficiency due to the higher coupling efficiency of the butt coupled structure than the integrated twin guide structure. The maximum wavelength tuning range is about 7.2nm for ITG DBR-LD and 7.4nm for BT DBR-LD. Both types of lasers have a very high yield of single mode operation with a side-mode suppression ratio of more than 35dB.
