산불이 산림토양의 이화학적 성질에 미치는 영향 (Fire Effects on Soil Physical and Chemical Properties following the Forest Fire in Kosung)

  • Changes on soil physical and chemical properties following the forest fire in Kosung area in Kangwon province were examined. Twenty seven sampling plots[16 burned (8 low intensity fire, 8 high intensity fire) and 11 unburned plots] from Pinus densiflora community were chosen and soil samples from three depths(0-5, 5-15, 15-25 cm) under the forest floor were collected. Forest fire in the area affected soil chemical properties. Soil pH, available phosphorus, base saturation, K, Ca, and Mg on the surface soil(0-5cm) in the burned areas compared with the unburned areas were increased, while soil properties on the subsurface soil(5-25 cm) were not changed. Organic matter, total nitrogen, available phosphorus, and exchangeable cations following the high in tensity fire on the surface soil were generally lower than those in the low intensity fire areas. This indicates that these nutrients on high intensity fire areas may be volatilized. The results suggest that the fire effects on soil chemical properties were confined mainly to the surface soil and were different between the high and the low intensity fire types.

The Effects of High Intensity Laser Therapy on Pain and Function of Patients with Frozen Shoulder

  • Purpose: This study was to identify the effectiveness of high-intensity laser therapy on pain and function of a frozen shoulder. Methods: Thirty patients were assigned to two groups: the experimental group (n=15) and the control group (n=15). Both groups received traditional therapy for 4 weeks, 3 days a week. The experimental group, however, received an additional high intensity laser therapy. Pain was measured using the visual analogue scale (VAS). The functional ability was measured using the patient specific functional scale (PSFS). A paired t-test was used to determine any differences before and after the treatment, and an independent t-test was used to determine any differences between treatment groups. Results: Both groups showed a statistically significant difference for VAS and PSFS score (p<0.05). In comparison between two groups, more experimental group than control group statistically significant difference (p<0.05). Conclusion: There seems to be a positive effect on pain and function of frozen shoulder from using high intensity laser therapy.

운동과 뇌신경가소성: 고강도 인터벌 운동의 효과성 고찰 (Exercise and Neuroplasticity: Benefits of High Intensity Interval Exercise)

  • 운동은 중추와 말초의 각종 성장인자(BDNF, IGF-1, VEGF)들의 상호작용에 의해 뇌신경가소성을 증진시키고 인지기능을 향상시킨다. 지금까지 저·중강도 지속성 유산소 운동의 효과를 검증하는 선행연구가 주로 이루어졌기 때문에 고강도 운동에 따른 뇌신경성장인자의 발현 및 인지기능 개선 효과에 대한 연구는 미흡한 실정이다. 하지만 최근의 과학적 증거들은 고강도 인터벌 운동이 시간 효율성, 안전성, 심폐지구력 개선 및 체중 감소에 효과적임을 암시하고 있으며, 미스포츠의학회(ACSM)에서 권장하는 일반인을 위한 운동지침에서도 무리가 되지 않는 수준에서 고강도 인터벌 운동 수행을 강조하고 있다. 특히 최근에 발표된 선행 연구에서 고강도 인터벌 운동은 말초조직과 뇌에서의 BDNF, IGF-1, VEGF의 발현을 증가시키고 그로 인한 인지기능 발달에 기여한다는 것을 보고하였으며, 관련된 유력한 생리학적 기전으로 고강도 인터벌 운동으로 인한 뇌의 저산소화와 뇌신경대사의 부가적인 에너지원이 될 수 있는 젖산 이용성 증가가 대두되고 있다. 따라서 향후 저산소화 및 젖산 이용성 증가에 따른 뇌신경성장인자 발현 개선에 어떤 분자생물학적 기전이 관여하는지를 탐구할 필요가 있으며, 또한 동일한 운동량을 가진 저·중강도 지속성 유산소 운동과의 비교 연구를 통해 뇌신경성장인자의 발현 및 인지기능 개선에 있어 고강도 인터벌 운동의 우수성을 입증하는 연구가 요구된다.

국내 성인환자에서 죽상동맥경화성 심혈관질환 위험도와 스타틴 처방 현황 (Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease Risk and Statin Prescription Status in Korean Adult Patients)

  • Background: Cardiovascular (CV) disease is known as one of the major causes of death from disease worldwide. Statin therapy plays a pivotal role in atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) lowering the LDL-cholesterol level effectively. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the association of the intensity of statin therapy in adult patients of Korea and the risk of ASCVD of the patient group. Methods: We used data from sample of patients from the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA-NPS-2018). We analyzed the patterns of prescribing statins including types of statin, statin intensity, and number of patients with ASCVD or risk of ASCVD. Results: 155,512 patients were included in the analysis, and 27,950 patients (18.0%) was over 75 years. High-intensity statin usage was increased in ASCVD patients compared with the low-intensity statin use. The OR (odds ratio) of high-intensity statin were increased in myocardial infarction patients compared with low-intensity statin use showing the highest OR; 12.40 (95% CI; 9.48-16.22). At patient groups of angina, ischemic heart disease and carotid disease, high-intensity statin prescription rate was increased compared with low-intensity statin. However, there was no statistical significance between both statin prescription rates in patients of peripheral arterial disease, abdominal aneurysm, diabetic mellitus and atherosclerosis. Conclusion: The statin prescription rate showed intensity increasing tendency according to the risk of ASCVD. More aggressive statin therapy might be beneficial for the ASCVD patients based on the recent guidelines of dyslipidemia.

원편파를 이용한 무전극 고압 방전 램프 시스템에 관한 연구 (A Study on Electrodeless HID Lamp Systems Using Circularly Polarized Microwaves)

  • This paper presents the results of a study on an electrodeless high intensity discharge (HID) lamp system that is powered by circularly polarized microwaves (CPMs). The technique to generate CPMs enables an electrodeless high intensity discharge lamp to be turned on without the retation of the bulb but conventional electrodeless high intensity discharge lamps use rotating bulbs in order to prevent a puncture in a hot spots that are formed by the linearly polarized microwaves in the circular cavity. The technique to generate CPMs is described and the salient features of the lamp characteristics are presented.

  • A numerical analysis was made to investigate the intensity diminution of a simple silencer for high pressure blast flow fields. Reynolds-Averaged Wavier-Stokes equations were solved for an axisymmetric computational domain constructed by multi block Chimera grids. A blast flow field without the silencer was also calculated to validate the present numerical method. The evolution of high pressure blast flow fields was observed by depicting calculated contours of pressure and Mach number. It was found that the tested silencer could achieve 76 percent intensity diminution.

Cytokine Pattern is Affected by Training Intensity in Women Futsal Players

  • To find the relation between exercise and cytokines, we examined the effect of the training intensity on the levels of cytokines, including interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), interlukine-4 (IL-4) and interlukine-4/interferon-gamma ratio (IL-4/IFN-γ ratio) in female Futsal players. Twelve well-trained female college Futsal players aged 19~22 participated in this study. The athletes completed 30-min of running at 60~65% maximal heart rate [moderate-intensity exercise], and 30-min of running at 75~80% maximal heart rate [high-intensity exercise]. peripheral blood samples were collected 24 h before and 24 h and 48 h after each of the exercise bouts. finding showed that The 30-min bout of moderate-intensity exercise induced a significant increase in IFN-γ (p=0.01) and significant decreases in IL-4 (p=0.001) and IL-4/IFN-γ ratio (p=0.003). And also, 30-min of running at 75~80% maximal heart rate induced increase in IFN-γ (p=0.07) and decreased in IL-4 (p=0.01) and IL-4/IFN-γ ratio (p=0.06) that these changes not significantly. In summary, exercise intensity can effect on the magnitude of changes in cytokines. It seems that moderate intensity exercise enhances cytokine pattern in female college Futsal players.

한국인 심근경색증 환자에서 고강도 및 저·중강도 스타틴 치료에 따른 임상경과 (Comparing High-Intensity Versus Low-to Moderate-Intensity Statin Therapy in Korean Patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction)

  • Objective: The aim of this study is to compare the clinical benefits between high-intensity and low-to moderate-intensity statin therapy in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Methods: A total of 1,230 patients in the Korea AMI Registry (KAMIR) were enrolled. Patients were divided into two groups according to the dosage of statin for the secondary prevention after AMI. The primary endpoint was composite of major adverse cardiac events (MACEs) including cardiac death, non-fatal MI, repeat revascularization during the 12 months of clinical follow-up. Result: The primary endpoint occurred in 101 patients (11.3%) from the low-to moderate-intensity statin group and 45 patients (13.4%) from the high-intensity statin group. The cumulative incidence of MACEs during 12-month follow-up was not significantly different between the two groups (p=0.323). After multi-variate analysis, MACEs-free survival rate was not significantly different between the two groups. Conclusion: High-intensity statin therapy did not show additional clinical benefit over low-to moderate-intensity statin therapy after AMI.

단거리 달리기선수의 고강도 훈련 시 중탄산염 섭취가 혈액변인에 미치는 영향 (The Effects Sodium Bicarbonate Intake on Blood Variables During High Intensity Exercise of Sprinter)

  • 본 연구는 단거리 달리기선수의 고강도 훈련 시 중탄산염 섭취가 혈액변인에 미치는 영향 규명하는데 연구의 목적이 있다. S시 남·여 단거리달리기 선수로 등록된 운동경력 3년 이상의 엘리트 선수 30명을 대상으로 통제집단, 훈련집단, 중탄산염 투여와 훈련집단의 세 집단으로 설정 후, 고강도 운동프로그램은 통제집단과 중탄산염 투여와 훈련집단을 대상으로 80-90%HRmax 운동강도를 2-3주마다 증가시키며, 총 8주간, 주 5일, 1회 90분 실시하였다. 중탄산염 섭취는 중탄산염 투여와 훈련집단을 대상으로 체중 1kg당 300mg을 고강도 운동프로그램 시작 90분 전 1일 1회 8주간 섭취하였다. 연구결과, 단거리달리기 선수의 고강도 훈련 시 중탄산염의 섭취가 혈액변인에 미치는 효과는 중탄산염 투여와 훈련집단에서 수소이온농도의 상승과 젖산의 감소에 긍정적인 효과가 나타났으며, Ca2+, Na+, K+은 훈련집단과 중탄산염 투여와 훈련집단에서 유의한 증가가 나타났다. Mg2+은 세 집단 모두에서 유의한 변화를 나타내지 않았다. 고강도 훈련 시 중탄산염의 섭취가 혈액변인의 변화 중 수소이온농도의 증가와 젖산의 감소에 효과적인 변화가 나타나는 것을 확인 할 수 있다. 따라서 고강도 운동 시 중탄산염의 섭취가 운동능력의 개선에 효과적임을 알 수 있다.
