In this paper, an all-digital CMOS ultra-wideband(UWB) pulse generator for high band(6~10 GHz) frequency range is presented. The pulse generator is designed and implemented with extremely low power and low complexity. It is designed to meet the FCC spectral mask requirement by using Gaussian pulse shaping circuit and control the center frequency by using CMOS delay line with shunt capacitor. Measurement results show that the center frequency can be controlled from 4.5 GHz to 7.5 GHz and pulse width is 1.5 ns and pulse amplitude is 310 mV peak to peak at 10 MHz pulse repetition frequency(PRF). The circuit is implemented in 0.13 um CMOS process with a core area of only $182{\times}65um^2$ and dissipates the average power of 11.4 mW at an output buffer with 1.5-V supply voltage. However, the core consumes only 0.26 mW except for output buffer.
This study was conducted to provide basic understandings for proper management of zoysiagrass fairways. Mowing intervals of 2, 4 and 6-days, with and without aeration were compared at two fertility levels. Turfgrass quality, growth and pest infestation were evaluated. Turf density, number of tillers, leaf width and resiliency were significantly affected by mowing frequency. Turfgrass plots mowed every 2-day had greater density, tillering, and resiliency but had narrower leaf width compared to other mowing treatments. Clipping dry weight with every 2-day mowing increased in the early stage of mowing treatment regardless of fertilizer application rates but gradually decreased in the later stage of mowing treatment compared to every 4 or 6-day mowings. The dry weight of above-ground part was not affected by mowing frequency, but that of underground part was significantly higher for every 6-day mowing frequency(3.3kg/day/m2) compared to every 2 or 4-day mowings. The organic mater content in soil was not different among mowing treatments but it was significantly reduced by the core aerification treatment, indicating significant effect of core aerification on thatch decomposition. Occurrences of weeds such as annual bluegrass and crabgrass according to mowing frequency were greater in every 2-day mowing treatment, while plots mowed every 6 days had less weed occurrence. Occurrence of rusts significantly increased in high fertility plots and frequently mowed turfgrasses.

In this study, the optimum structure of a magnetic thin film inductor was designed for application of DC-DC converters. The Ni$\sub$81/Fe$\sub$19/ (at%) alloy was selected as a high-frequency($\geq$MHz) magnetic thin film magnetron sputtering system. As-deposited NiFe thin films show similar magnetic properties compared to bulk NiFe alloys, indicating that they have a good film quality. The optimum design of dolenoid-type magnetic thin film inductors was performed utilizing a Maxwell computer simulator (Ansoftt HFSS V7.0 for PC) and parameters obtained from the magnetic properties of magnetic core materials selected. The high-frequency characteristics of the inductance(L) and quality factor(Q) obtained for the designed inductors through simulation agreed well with those obtained by theoretical calculations, confirming that the simulated result is realistic. The optimum structure of high-performance (Q$\geq$60, L = 1${\mu}$H, efficiency $\geq$90%), high-frequency ($\geq$5MHz), and solenoid-type magnetic thin film inductors was designed successfully.
This paper presents an optimal design of the slim type high frequency transformer used in the LLC DC to DC resonant converter for 65-inch UHD-TV with the rated power of 315W. This paper also performs an optimal design of the slim type high frequency through core loss analysis, AC winding loss analysis, and optimization design of the winding arrangement of the LLC resonant transformer. Particularly, the high-efficiency and slim type high frequency transformer based on the obtained results from theoretical analysis in this paper is constructed in the interleaved and vertical winding structures of its transformer to realize the winding method of automatic type and minimize AC winding loss. The primary and secondary windings of the slim type high frequency transformer the vertical winding structure proposed in this paper used the Litz-wire windings, PCB and copper plate windings, respectively. Finally, an optimal design of the slim type high frequency transformer proposed in this paper was carried out through the experimental results to confirm the validity of theoretical analysis based on the simulation results using Maxwell 2D and 3D tool.

Due to high permeability of the ferrite core, the characteristics of the ICP are expected to be greatly improved. We investigated the effect of the ferrite cores on conventional inductively coupled plasma. It was observed that the current and voltage in ike ICP antenna are slightly decreased and the power transfer efficiency is increased. However, due to eddy current and hysterisis loss, plasma density in the ICP with the ferrite cores is not increased. It seems that the ICP with the ferrite cores at low frequency (${\~}$100kHz) will be greatly improved since the losses at the low frequency can be negligible.

Fe-6.5 wt.% Si alloys are widely known to have excellent soft magnetic properties such as high magnetic flux density, low coercivity, and low core loss at high frequency. In this work, disc-shaped preforms are prepared by spark plasma sintering at 1223 K after inert gas atomization of Fe-6.5 wt.% Si powders. Fe-6.5 wt.% Si sheets are rolled by a powder hot-rolling process without cracking, and their microstructure and soft magnetic properties are investigated. The microstructure and magnetic properties (saturation magnetization and core loss) of the hot-rolled Fe-6.5 wt.% Si sheets are examined by scanning electron microscopy, electron backscatter diffraction, vibration sample magnetometry, and AC B-H analysis. The Fe-6.5 wt.% Si sheet rolled at a total reduction ratio of 80% exhibits good soft magnetic properties such as a saturation magnetization of 1.74 T and core loss ($W_{5/1000}$) of 30.7 W/kg. This result is caused by an increase in the electrical resistivity resulting from an increased particle boundary density and the oxide layers between the primary particle boundaries.

In this paper, we extracted relevant patent data and conducted statistical analysis to understand the technical development trend related to Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) for Light Rail Transit (LRT). Recently, with the development of WPT technologies, the Light Rail Transit (LRT) industry is concentrating on applying WPT to the power supply system of trains because of their advantages compared wired counterpart, such as low maintenance cost and high stability. This technology is divided into three areas: wireless feeding and collecting technology, high-frequency power converter technology and orbital and infrastructure technology. From each specific area, key words in patent document were extracted by TF-IDF method and analyzed by social network. In the keyword network, core word of each specific technology were extracted according to their degree centrality. Then, the multi-word phrases were also built to represent the concept of core technologies. Finally, based on the analysis results, the development strategies for each specifics technical area of WPT in LRT filed will be provided.
Double rectangular spiral thin-film inductors were fabricated using $Fe_{86.7}Zr_{3.3}B_{4}Ag_{6}$ thin film with high permeability and resistance, in which easy axis of magnetization of the thin-film was perpendicular or parallel to the current direction. The perpendicular geometry inductor revealed higher inductance than the parallel geometry one, because spin aligns of magnetic film were more easily along the field direction due to higher field intensity in the perpendicular geometry. The increase of the inductance, however, resulted in the decrease of resonance frequency. The permeability was monitored by annealing the thin-films at different temperatures. With increasing the permeability, the inductance increased, but total resistance also increased due to the increase in magnetic core loss. As the resonance frequency was higher in air-core inductor than in magnetic thin-film core inductor, it is suggested to increase the resonance frequency that the characteristic of air-core inductor rather than the magnetic properties of the thin-film should be enhanced..

In recent, there have been several developments in lamp technology that promise savings in electrical power consumption and improved quality of the lighting space. Above all, the advantage of ring-shaped electrodeless fluorescent lamp is the removal of internal electrodes and heating filaments that are a light-limiting factor of conventional fluorescent lamps. The ring-shaped electrodeless lamp is intended as a high efficacy replacement for the incandescent reflector lamp in many applications. Therefore, the life time of ring-shaped electrodeless fluorescent lamps is substantially higher than that of conventional fluorescent lamps and last up to 60,000 hours. In this paper, we present measurement results of electrical characteristics of a ring-shaped electrodeless fluorescent lamp as a function of frequency and number of coil turns using a highly permeable Mn-Zn ferrite. It is found that the impedance are increased while the quality factor decreases as frequency increases.
