The present study is to reduce the thermal phenomena and stack effect of nude elevator of the high-rise building used CFD simulation. Since many High-rise buildings used the curtain-wall glass, thermal phenomena and stack effect can easily occur at hot and cold season, respectively. The simulation has been conducted and verified for the effects of the amount of suppling air to the environment of the inside nude elevator shaft. The results of simulations show that the problems due to the thermal and stack effect will be reduced by enforced ventilation or natural ventilation and those will be presented by temperature and velocity profiles and pressure differences.

Recently, there are an increasing needs for high speed rotating spindle which is an important mechanical ele- ment for a high efficiency machine tool in order to shorten machining time and cut production costs. The heat gen- eration is the most important problem in the motor integrated spindle. In this study, the effects of temperature distribution and thermal behavior according to the oil-air lubrication and cooling conditions are investigate theo- retically and experimentally on the motor-integrated spindle under unloading condition. The experimental spin- dle system is composed with the angular contact steel ball bearings, oil-air lubrication, air or oil jacket cooling system. To analyze the thermal behavior and cooling characteristics for the motor integrated spindle, the analysis using the finite element method is carried out. The analytical results are compared with the experimental results.
In nuclear power plant (NPP) accidents, the containment is subject to high temperatures and high internal pressures, which may further trigger serious chain accidents such as core meltdown and hydrogen explosion, resulting in a significantly higher accident level. Therefore, studying the mechanical performance of a containment under high temperature and high internal pressure is relevant to the safety of NPPs. Based on similarity principles, the 1:3.2 scale model of a prestressed concrete containment vessel (PCCV) of a NPP was designed. The loading method, which considers the thermal-pressure coupling conditions, was used. The mechanical response of the PCCV was investigated with a simultaneous increase in internal pressure and temperature, and the failure mechanism of the PCCV under thermal-pressure coupling conditions was revealed.
The thermal behavior of power modules is an important criterion for the design of cooling systems and optimum thermal structure of these modules. An important consideration for high power and high frequency design is the spacing between semiconductor devices, substrate structure and influence of the boundary condition in the case. This study focuses on the thermal behavior of hybrid power modules to establish a simplified method that allows temperature estimation in different module components without decapsulation. This study resulted in a correction of the junction temperature values estimated from the transient thermal impedance of each component operating alone. The corrections depend on mutual thermal coupling between different chips of the hybrid structure. A new experimental technique for thermal mutual evaluation is presented. Notably, the classic analysis of thermal phenomena in these structures, which was independent of dissipated power magnitude and boundary conditions in the case, is incorrect.

A large number of studies on the various characteristics of epoxy-layered silicate nanocomposites, such as electric and mechanical, morphology have been conducted and contributed to improve their characteristics. However, studies on the effects of its thermal conductivities in the thermal properties are not enough, even though there are some excellent evaluations for its insulation performances. Thermal properties will cause thermal degradation and significantly affect the reliability of these epoxy-layered silicate nanocomposites. In the results of the analysis of epoxy-layered silicate nanocomposites $T_g$ for various types of organoclays (10A, 15A, 20A, 30B, and 93A), it showed an excellent thermal property of 10A. Also, it represented low values in storage modulus and mechanical Tan (Delta) at a high temperature section 140$^{\circ}C$ and excellent thermal properties due to its movement to the high temperature section in the case of the property of 10A in the measurement of DMA elastics and mechanical losses. In the results of the measurement of thermal conductivities, power ultrasonic applications represented a significant increase in thermal conductivities in the case of the applications of power ultrasonic and planetary centrifugal mixers. Based on these results, it is necessary to perform related studies because it can be applied as useful materials for future power facilities applications in mold and impregnate insulation.
During braking of railway vehicles the repetitive thermal shock leads to thermal cracks on disc surface, and the lifetime of brake disc is dependent on the number of trimming works for removing these thermal cracks. Many tries for development of high heat resistant brake disc to extend the disc life and to warrant reliable braking performance has been continued. In present study, we carry out the computational fatigue analysis for thermal fatigue test in three candidate materials which were made to develop new high heat resistant material. Using FEM, we simulate thermal fatigue test in three candidate materials and conventional disc material. We then estimate the number of cycle to thermal crack initiation based on data from mechanical fatigue tests, and the results are compared with each material. For each material, the correction factor for $N_{f-40}$ which is the number of cycles when crack over $40{\mu}m$ was observed in thermal fatigue test is decided. From this study, we can verify the performance of thermal fatigue test system and suggest a qualitatively comparative method for heat resistance by FEM analysis of thermal shocking phenomenon.
In this paper, the superposition principle of a heat sink temperature rise is verified based on the mathematical model of a plate-fin heat sink with two mounted heat sources. According to this, the distributed coupling thermal impedance matrix for a heat sink with multiple devices is present, and the equations for calculating the device transient junction temperatures are given. Then methods to extract the heat sink thermal impedance matrix and to measure the Epoxy Molding Compound (EMC) surface temperature of the power Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor (MOSFET) instead of the junction temperature or device case temperature are proposed. The new thermal impedance model for the power converters in Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) drivers is implemented in MATLAB/Simulink. The obtained simulation results are validated with experimental results. Compared with the Finite Element Method (FEM) thermal model and the traditional thermal impedance model, the proposed thermal model can provide a high simulation speed with a high accuracy. Finally, the temperature rise distributions of a power converter with two control strategies, the maximum junction temperature rise, the transient temperature rise characteristics, and the thermal coupling effect are discussed.

The thermal response of elastomeric insulators used as protection against high-temperature and high-pressure combustion gases varies depending on their composition and thermal environment conditions. In this paper, the thermal response characteristics of elastomeric insulators in different mixing environments were compared. Tests to determine thermal protection performance were carried out using a thermal protection rubber evaluation motor(TPREM), combustion gas velocities of 20 m/s and 100 m/s were tested at a chamber pressure of 1,000 psig. The pressure time curve of the chamber, the temperature time curve of the internal materials, the residual thickness and the thermal destruction depth of the test specimens were obtained. The results showed that the thermal protection performance of elastomeric insulators in different mixing environments was similar.

In order to estimate the reduction of laodbearing capacity, followed by the attributive change of heat while high strength concrete structure is revealed on fire it is necessary to evaluate, it is necessary to evaluate the property of material under high temperature such as thermal conductivity, specific heat, compressive strength, modulus of rigidity and diminution figure. Therefore, this study is for the purpose of presenting evaluation data for the analysis of thermal behavior about the high strength concrete material under high temperature, through the experiment by manufacturing concrete(40, 50, 60, 80, 100 MPa) commonly used in the construction field. As a result of the study, in the case of physical attribute, it demonstrates a greater fluctuation of change than the one of 30 MPa concrete. In case of specific heat, the high strength concrete, shown the serious diminution between $500{\sim}600^{\circ}C$, presents the thermal change area corresponding to the change of high strength concrete. In compressive strength, regardless of intensity of concrete, all of them show the first intensity loss between normal temperature and $100^{\circ}C$, the dramatic loss beyond $400^{\circ}C$. The concrete weighing above 50 MPa shows a twice lower dramatic intensity loss than the one weighing $30{\sim}40MPa$. The concrete ranging from $60{\sim}80MPa$, shows the biggest diminution of modulus of elasticity under $400^{\circ}C$, which implies the structural unstability of temperature.

High thermal conductivity films with electrically insulating properties have a great potential for the effective heat transfer as substrate and thermal interface materials in high density and high power electronic packages. There have been lots of studies to achieve high thermal conductivity composites using high thermal conductivity fillers such alumina, aluminum nitride, boron nitride, CNT and graphene, recently. Among them, hexagonal-boron nitride (h-BN) nano-sheet is a promising candidate for high thermal conductivity with electrically insulating filler material. This work presents an enhanced heat transfer properties of ceramic/polymer composite films using h-BN nano-sheets and PVA polymer resins. The h-BN nano-sheets were prepared by a mechanical exfoliation of h-BN flakes using organic media and subsequent ultrasonic treatment. High thermal conductivities over $2.8W/m{\cdot}K$ for transverse and $10W/m{\cdot}K$ for in-plane direction of the cast films were achieved for casted h-BN/PVA composite films. Further improvement of thermal conductivity up to $13.5W/m{\cdot}K$ at in-plane mode was achieved by applying uniaxial compression at the temperature above glass transition of PVA to enhance the alignment of the h-BN nano-sheets.
