  • In this paper, it is reported that film-bulk-acoustic resonator with high c-axis oriented AIN film on $Mo/SiO_2/Si(100)$ using metal-organic-chemical-vapor deposition was fabricated. The resonant frequency and anti-resonant frequency of the fabricated resonator were observed with 3.189[GHz] and 3.224[GHz], respectively. The quality factor and the effective electromechanical coupling coefficient(${k_{eff}}^2$) were measured with 24.7 and 2.65[%], respectively. The conditions of AIN deposition were substrate temperature of $950[^{\circ}C]$, pressure of 20Torr, and V-III ratio of 25000. A high c-axis oriented AIN film with $4{\times}10^{-5}[\Omega{cm}]$ resistivity of Mo bottom electrode and $4[^{\circ}]$ of AIN(0002) full-width at half-maximum(FWHM) on $Mo/SiO_2/Si(100)$ was grown successfully. The FWHM value of deposited AIN film is useful for the RF band pass filter specification for GHz-band wireless local area network.

  • Thin-film-transistors (TFTs) that can be prepared at low temperatures have attracted much attention because of the great potential for transparent and flexible electronics. One of the mainstreams in this field is the use of organic semiconductors such as pentacene. But device performance of the organic TFTs is still limited due to low field-effect mobility and rapid degradation after exposing to air. Alternative approach is the use of amorphous oxide semiconductors as a channel. Amorphous oxide semiconductors (AOSs) based TFTs showed the fast technological development, because AOS films can be fabricated at room temperature and exhibit the possibility in application like flexible display, electronic paper, and larges solar cells. Among the various AOSs, a-IGZO has lots of advantages because it has high channel mobility, uniform surface roughness and good transparency. [1] The high mobility is attributed to the overlap of spherical s-orbital of the heavy post-transition metal cations. This study demonstrated the effect of the variation in channel thickness from 30nm to 200nm on the TFT device performance. When the thickness was increased, turn-on voltage and subthreshold swing was decreased. The a-IGZO channels and source/drain metals were deposited with shadow mask. The a-IGZO channel layer was deposited on $SiO_2$/p-Si substrates by RF magnetron sputtering, where RF power is 150W. And working pressure is 3m Torr, at $O_2/Ar$ (2/28 sccm) atmosphere. The electrodes were formed with electron-beam evaporated Ti (30 nm) and Au (70 nm) bilayer. Finally, Al (150nm) as a gate metal was thermal-evaporated. TFT devices were heat-treated in a furnace at 250 $^{\circ}C$ and nitrogen atmosphere for 1hour. The electrical properties of the TFTs were measured using a probe-station. The TFT with channel thickness of 150nm exhibits a good subthreshold swing (SS) of 0.72 V/decade and on-off ratio of $1{\times}10^8$. The field effect mobility and threshold voltage were evaluated as 7.2 and 8 V, respectively.

  • Poly(phenylene sulfide-co-phenylene sulfide sulfone), PPS/PPSS copolymers were synthesized from p-dichlobenzene(DCB), p-dibromobenzene(DBB), p-diiodobenzene(DIB), 4-chlorophenyl sulfone(CPS) and sodium sulfide as comonomers under high temperature and pressure utilizing N-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone(NMP) as solvent. The yield of PPS/PPSS copolymer shoed maximum at $190^{\circ}C$ with [DBB]/[CPS] and [DIB]/[CPS] comonomer pair, while [DCB]/[CPS] pair exhibited maximum yield at $230^{\circ}C$. The change of yield is in the order of I>Br>Cl as leaving groups were in accordance with nucleophilic aromatic substitution reaction mechanism suggested for the synthesis of PPS type polymers. The molecular weight of PPS/PPSS copolymer was the highest($M_w=8,330g/mol$) with [DBB]/[CPS] comonomers in which [CPS] was 10 mole%. The PPS/PPSS copolymer made with 10 mole% of [CPS] showed about $15^{\circ}C$ higher $T_g$ and $15^{\circ}C$ lower $T_m$ than those of PPS homopolymer, which may be useful from the processing and thermal property point of view. The PPS/PPSS copolymer with 30 mole% of CPS or above did not exhibit Tm. The PPS/PPSS copolymer obtained with comonomer feed ratio of [DBB]/[CPS] = 95/5 mole% under $240^{\circ}C$ showed even higher molecular weight($M_w=10,300g/mole$) than PPS homopolymer made under similar reaction condition, retaining high crystallinity and thermal stability.

  • In order to reduce malic acid in low-alcohol content appel wine $(6{\sim}9%)$ malate-decomposing yeast, Schzosaccharomyces japonicus var. japonicus St-3 was used. Fallen apples before the harvesting season were collected and extraction was made. The apple extract was fortified with sucrose to make final sugar concentration of 18% in case of 9% base wine. High acid content in the primarily fermented apple wine could be reduced by following with malo-alcoholic fermentation using Schizosaccharomyces japonicus var. japonicus St-3 in second half of alcoholic fermentation using Saccharomyces sp. R-11. Secondary fermentation was proceeded at low temperature $(7{\sim}8^{\circ}C)$ for 130 days using Saccharomyces sp. R-11. Prior to the secondary fermentation, two percent of sugar was added to the base wine in order to produce carbon dioxide gas. And each five percent of specially prepared malt extract and hop extract were added to the base wine in order to increase foam stability. Better shelf-life was observed by keeping high carbon dioxide pressure$(2.3{\sim}2.5kg/cm^2)$ in the bottle. It was assured that the better low-alcohol content apple wine could be brewed by the method which we used above.

  • In this study, an accelerated carbonation process was applied to stabilize hazardous heavy metals of industrial solid waste incineration (ISWI) bottom ash and fly ash, and to reduce $CO_2$ emissions. The most commonly used method to stabilize heavy metals is accelerated carbonation using a high water-to-solid ratio including oxidation and carbonation reactions as well as neutralization of the pH, dissolution, and precipitation and sorption. This process has been recognized as having a significant effect on the leaching of heavy metals in alkaline materials such as ISWI ash. The accelerated carbonation process with $CO_2$ absorption was investigated to confirm the leaching behavior of heavy metals contained in ISWI ash including fly and bottom ash. Only the temperature of the chamber at atmospheric pressure was varied and the $CO_2$ concentration was kept constant at 99% while the water-to-solid ratio (L/S) was set at 0.3 and $3.0dm^3/kg$. In the result, the concentration of leached heavy metals and pH value decreased with increasing carbonation reaction time whereas the bottom ash showed no effect. The mechanism of heavy metal-stabilization is supported by two findings during the carbonation reaction. First, the carbonation reaction is sufficient to decrease the pH and to form an insoluble heavy metal-material that contributes to a reduction of the leaching. Second, the adsorbent compound in the bottom ash controls the leaching of heavy metals; the calcite formed by the carbonation reaction has high affinity of heavy metals. In addition, approximately 5 kg/ton and 27 kg/ton $CO_2$ were sequestrated in ISWI bottom ash and fly ash after the carbonation reaction, respectively.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of the compositions and phases of amalgam alloys and amalgams by using EMPA and X-ray diffractometer. Each specimen was made from Caulk Fine Cut Clow copper lathe cut amalgam), Caulk Spherical (low copper spherical amalgam), Tytin (high copper unicorn position amalgam), Dispersally (high copper admixed amalgam) and Valiant (Palladium enriched amalgam). For preparing amalgam alloys, Tytin and Valiant were used as powder forms and the others were used as tablet forms after being polished with polishing machine. For preparing amalgams, each amalgam alloy and Hg were measured, and triturated by mechanical amalgamater according to user's instructions. After triturating, the triturated mass was inserted to cylindrical metal mold and simultaneously adapted by cylindrical condenser with same diameter and condensed by Instron universal testing machine with 80kg pressure & 1mm/min speed. Each specimen was removed from the metal mold and stored at room temperature for a week. The specimen was polished with the same polishing machine for amalgam alloy. For observation of microstructure and analysis of composition of amalgam alloys and amalgams, EMPA was used to get secondary electron images, backscattered images and characteristic X-ray images of Ag, Sn, Cu, Zn, Hg. To analyze compositions of amalgam alloys and amalgams, X-ray diffractometer was used. Amalgam alloys were scanned at the range of 2${\theta}$ of 30-$85^{\circ}$ and the speed of $4^{\circ}$/min with Cuka line and amalgams were scanned at the range of 2${\theta}$ of 28-$44^{\circ}$ and the speed of $4^{\circ}$/min with Cuka line. By comparing obtained d(distance between surfaces) and d of expected phases and atoms in amalgam alloys and amalgams in ASTM card, phases and atoms were identified. The results were as follows, 1. In Caulk Fine Cut amalgam alloy typical ${\gamma}$ phase was shown, and in amalgam, ${\gamma}$, ${\gamma}_1$ and ${\gamma}_2$ phases were observed. 2. In Caulk Spherical amalgam alloy ${\gamma}$, Ag, Cu and $\varepsilon$ phases were shown, and in amalgam ${\gamma}$, ${\gamma}_1$, ${\gamma}_2$ and $\eta$ phases were observed. 3. • In-cryostat helium lines are under installation to transfer a cryogenic helium into cold components in KSTAR device. In KSTAR, three kinds of helium should be supplied into the cold components, which are supercritical helium Into superconduction(SC) magnet system, liquid helium into current lead system, and gas helium into thermal shields. Cryogenic helium lines consist of transfer lines outside the cryostat, in-cryostat helium lines, and electrical breaks. In-cryostat helium lines should be guaranteed of leak tightness for tong time operation at high internal helium pressure of 20 bar. We wrapped the helium line with multi-layer insulator(MLI) to reduce radiation heat and insulated the surface of the high potential part with prepreg tape. The electrical break was fabricated by brazing ceramic tube with stainless steel tube. To ensure the operation reliability at operation temperature, all the electrical break have been examined by the thermal cycle test at liquid nitrogen and by the hydraulic test at 30 bar. And additional surface insulation was prepared with prepreg tape to give structural safety. At present most of the in-cryostat helium lines have been installed and the final inspection test is progressing.

  • The proportion of natural gas-fueled power generation is expanding due to the change of domestic energy policy pursuing reduction of dust and increasing clean energy consumption. Natural gas fuels used for the combined-cycle power plants and the district-heating power plants are operated at high temperature and high pressure in the fuel supply system. Accidents due to leakage of the gas such as fire and explosion should be prevented by applying risk management techniques. In this study, risk assessment was performed on the natural gas fuel supply system of a combined power plant based on the API RP 581 RBI code. For the application of the API RBI code, lines and segments of the evaluation target system were identified. Operational data and input information were analyzed for the calculations of probability of failure and consequence of failure. The results of the risk assessment were analyzed over time from the initial installation time. In the code-based evaluation, the gas fuel supply system was mainly affected by thinning, external damage, and mechanical fatigue damage mechanisms. As the operating time passes, the risk is expected to increase due to the external damage caused by the CUI(Corrosion Under Insulation).

  • The present paper investigates the performance of direct wet mineral carbonation technology to fix carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) from relatively high $CO_2$ concentration feeding gas using wollastonite ($CaSiO_3$)-water (and 0.46 M acetic acid) suspension solution. To minimize the energy consumed on the process, the carbonation in this work is carried out at atmospheric pressure and slightly higher room temperature. As a result, carbon fixation is confirmed on the surface of $CaSiO_3$ after carbonation with wollastonite-water suspension solution and its amount is increased according to the $CO_2$ composition in the feeding gas. The leaching and carbonation ratio of wollastonite-water suspension system obtained from the carbonation with 50% of $CO_2$ composition feeding gas is 13.2% and 10.4%, respectively. On the other hand, the performance of wollastonite-acetic acid in the same condition is 63% for leaching and 1.39% for carbonation.

  • A turbocharger is an engine supercharger that is driven by exhaust gas. It improves the output and fuel efficiency by increasing the charging efficiency of the mixture gas, which is achieved by changing the rotatory power of the turbine connected to the exhaust passage. It is important to control the supercharging for this purpose. A nozzle slide joint is one of the core parts. Austenitic stainless steel is currently used as the material for this part, and its excellent mechanical properties include high heat resistance and corrosion resistance. However, because of its poor machinability, there are many difficulties in producing products with complicated shapes. Machining is used in the production of nozzle slide joints for high dimensional accuracy after metal powder injection molding. As design variables in this study, we investigated the sintering temperature, product stress, deformation rate, radius of curvature of the punch, and angle of the chamfer punch, which are related to the strain and shapes. The goal is to suggest a forming process using Nitronic 60 that does not require machining to manufacture a nozzle slide joint for a turbocharger. Accordingly, we determined the best process environment using finite-element analysis, the signal-noise ratio, and the Taguchi method for experiment design. The relative density and hydrostatic pressure of the final product were in accordance with the results of the finite element analysis. Therefore, we conclude that the Taguchi method can be applied to the design process of metal powder injection molding.
