Performance Characterization of Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Direct Methanol Fuel Cell on the Various Operation Conditions (운전조건에 따른 고분자 직접메탄올 연료전지 성능 특성)

  • Direct Methanol Fuel Cell(DMFC) using Pt-Ru electrocatlayst and Nafion menbrane can provide high performance if operating conditions are well designed. In this study, operating temperature, pressure, and fuel flow rate were changed to obtain optimum operating conditions of DHFC single cell. Performance of DMFC were increased by the increase of operating temperature. The concentration of fuel methanol was 2.0M $CH_{3}OH$ and pressure difference of cathode and anode was 2 atm were showed maximum performance of DMFC single cell with showing the current density of 160 $mA/cm^2$ at 0.2V cell voltage.

  • In this paper, the ITO thin film, which is considered as one of the most currently used material for the high performance transparent conducting films for the PDP cell, was made in a parallel-plate, capacitively coupled DC magnetron sputtering system. Some electrical and optical properties of ITO films were investigated and discussed on the basis of glow discharge characteristics. The optimized thin film fabricating conditions of Ar gas pressure and substrate temperature were derived from the Paschen curve and glow discharge characteristics. The maximum transmittance of 89.61 % in the visible region and optical band gap of 3.89 eV and resistivity of 1.67${\times}$10$\^$-3/ $\Omega$-cm were obtained under the conditions of 300 C of substrate temperature and 10∼15 mtorr of pressure, which corresponds nearly to that of Paschen minimum.

  • This study primarily is concerned with a new device which has been developed following the international standards to measure the ventilation performance at elevated temperature. This device can measure duration of ventilation, performance of electricity, static pressure at elevated temperature and also it is having provision to measure reversible performances during fire hazards. Invented device is closed circuit type system which is best suited for korean industrial environment with low cost and high efficiency. International standards has been compared and performance testing has been major using BS 7346 which is tested by Warrington Fire Research Centre.

  • The purpose of this research is to obtain the information of the development process of a vaporizing GDI spray using exciplex fluorecence method. Fluorobenzene/DEMA system was used as the exciplex-forming dopants. The 2-D spray images of liquid and vapor phases were acquired, and the behavior of both phases was analyzed by the image processing. The experiment was performed at the three different ambient perssures and the ambient temperature of 273K and 473K. As the result of this work, it was found that the development characteristics of GDI spray have stronger effect on the ambient pressure than on the ambient temperature. With an increase of ambient pressure, the distribution of vapor phase was decreased and the concentration of that was denser. Two regions, namely cone and mixing regions could be identified from those resulrs.

  • A new technology realizing interconnection between Plastic Film LCDs panel and a driving circuit was developed under the processing condition of low temperature and pressure with ACFs developed for Plastic Film LCDs. The conduction failure of interconnection of the two resulted from elasticity, low thermal resistance and high thermal expansion of plastic substrates. Conductive particles with elasticity similar to the plastic substrate did not damaged a ITO electrode on plastic substrates, and low temperature and pressure process also did not deform the surface of plastic substrates. As a result highly reliable interconnection with minimum contact resistance was accomplished.

  • Gas hydrate is a special kind of inclusion compound that can be formed by capturing gas molecules to water lattice in high pressure and low temperature conditions. When referred to standard conditions, $1m^3$ solid hydrates contain up to $172Nm^3$ of methane gas, depending on the pressure and temperature of production. Such large volumes make natural gas hydrates can be used to store and transport natural gas. In this study, three-phase equilibrium conditions for forming methane hydrate were theoretically obtained in aqueous single electrolyte solution containing 3wt% NaCl. The results show that the predictions match the previous experimental values very well, and it was found that NaCl acts as an inhibitor.

  • This paper represents the cold energy for liquefied nitrogen gas and cascade refrigerator. In this study, the vaporizer of liquefied nitrogen gas has the fin coil tube type with the dimension of inside diameter of 10mm and outside diameter of 12mm. Also, the total length of vaporizer is 20,000mm. The main experimental parameters are the mean velocity in duct and the supplied flow-rates of liquefied nitrogen gas. For the cascade refrigeration system, the refrigerants are ethane(R 170) in the high pressure stage and R 22 in the low pressure stage.

An Analysis of Hot Closed-Die Forging to Reduce Forging Load (단조하중 감소를 위한 열간 형단조공정 해석)

  • In hot closed-die forging the load increases rapidly near the final stage. Preforming operation is important to both the sound final forging and die-service life. In this study, the material flows during preforming and final forging are investigated. The physical modeling with Plasticine as a model material showed clear flow patterns. The forging process were numerically simulated by the finite element method with the isothermal and the non-isothermal models. The flow patten of the isothermal simulation showed good agreements with the experiments. Temperature changes and pressure distributions on the die surfaces during one cycle of the forging process were obtained from the non-isothermal simulation. High pressure and temperature were developed at certain areas of the die surfaces. It was concluded that those areas usually coincide with each other and should be distributed by the preforming operations to enhance the die life.

  • EPDM has excellent electric characteristics and so that it has been rapidly finding use is high voltage applications in recent years. At present EPDM is widely used for insulator of cable and accessories, and further the commercial use of Premolded housing for elbow surge arrester is started. In this paper, we have measured the temperature, pressure and voltages dependence of $tan{\delta}$ in EPDM. As a results, dielectric characteristics($tan{\delta}$) increases slightly with increasing the temperature. However, it is almost independent of the pressure and voltages.

Thermal response of porous media cooled by a forced convective flow (강제대류에 의해 냉각되는 다공물질의 열응답 특성)

  • The experimental investigation of thermal response characteristics by the air flow through the porous media has been carried out. The packed spheres of steel or glass were considered as the porous media in the present study. Temperature distributions of the fluid in the porous media as well as pressure drops through the porous media were measured. The transient temperature variations in the porous media are compared favorably with the analytical results in the high Reynolds number ranges. However, in the low Reynolds number ranges, the experimental data deviate from the analytical results, due to the dominant heat conduction penetration to the upstream direction, which is not considered in the analytical model. The cool-down response of porous media is found to be dependent upon the specific dimensionless time considering the material property and air velocity. The heat discharge process is recommended to be operated until a certain time, considering the cost efficiency.
