  • The intercalated compound of dodecanesulfonate into hydrated cobalt was synthesized. The compound shows a layered structure as determined by high temperature X-ray diffraction. The layer distance of the product is increased from $19.1{\AA}$ to $34.7{\AA}$ by increasing the temperature from $30^{\circ}C$ to $200^{\circ}C$. We can control the layer distance by varying the temperature which is accomplished by changing from the monolayer to the bilayer structure of the intercalated dodecanesulfonate.

  • In this paper, the $Sr_{1-x}Ca_{x}TiO_{3}(0{\leq}x{\leq}0.2)$ 2)-based grain boundary layer ceramics were fabricated to measured dielectric properties and voltage-current properties. The sintering temperature and time were $1420\sim1520^{\circ}C$, 4hours, in $N_{2}$ gas, respectively. The structural and the dielectric properties were investigated by SEM, X-ray, HP4194A and K6517. The 2nd phase formed by thermal diffusion from the surface lead to a very high apparent dielectric constant, $\varepsilon_r$ > 50000. X-ray diffraction patterns exhibited cubic structure for all specimens. Increasing content of Ca, the peak intensity were decreased.ﱇﶖ⨀ਆᘍ܀㘱㔮㠹㬅K䍄乍

  • In this study, iron oxide (FeOx) nanoparticles were synthesized using iron (Fe) by-products recovered from NdFeB permanent magnet scraps, and the effect of heat-treatment temperature on the physical properties of the FeOx nanoparticles was investigated. In order to prepare the FeOx nanoparticles, 2.0 M ammonia (NH4OH) solution was added to an iron by-product solution diluted to c.a. 10 wt% in D.I. water, which led to the precipitation of the iron oxide precursor. Then, the FeOx nanoparticles were synthesized by heat-treatment at 300 ℃, 400 ℃, 500 ℃ and 600 ℃. After that, the physical properties of the FeOx nanoparticles were investigated in order to understand the effect of the heat-treatment temperature. The results of the X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis showed that the diffraction peak in accordance with the <104> direction increased as the heat-treatment increased, and a diffraction peak indicating the α-Fe2O3 crystal structure was detected at heat-treatment temperatures above 500 ℃. The BET specific surface area analysis revealed that the specific surface area decreased as the heat-treatment temperature increased to above 400 ℃. Observation with a high resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM) showed that rod-shaped nanoparticles were formed, and the size of the nanoparticles showed a tendency to increase as the heat-treatment temperature increased.

  • A nanolaminate consisting of alternate layers of aluminium oxide ($Al_2O_3$) (5 nm) and zirconium oxide ($ZrO_2$) (20 nm) was deposited at an optimized oxygen partial pressure of $3{\times}10^{-2}$ mbar by pulsed laser deposition. The nanolaminate film was analysed using high temperature X-ray diffraction (HTXRD) to study phase transition and thermal expansion behaviour. The surface morphology was investigated using field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). High temperature X-ray diffraction indicated the crystallization temperature of tetragonal zirconia in the $Al_2O_3/ZrO_2$ multilayer-film was 873 K. The mean linear thermal expansion coefficient of tetragonal $ZrO_2$ was $4.7{\times}10^{-6}\;K^{-1}$ along a axis, while it was $13.68{\times}10^{-6}\;K{-1}$ along c axis in the temperature range 873-1373 K. The alumina was in amorphous nature. The FESEM studies showed the formation of uniform crystallites of zirconia with dense surface.

  • Single crystals of kalsilite were synthesized by hydrothermal method at 420$^{\circ}C$-480$^{\circ}C$ and 100 atm-1500 atm. The crystal habits are similar to those of KLiSiO4 single crystals. The crystal structure was investigated by means of X-ray single crystal diffraction. The space group of kalsilite is P63. Phase transitiions were determined by use of DTA and high temperature X-ray Guinier camera. Phase transitions of kalsilite are summerized and discussed.

  • Be-doped GaSb layers were grown on highly mismatched semi-insulating GaAs substrate (001) with $2^{\circ}$ offcut towards <110> at low growth temperature, by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). The influence of Be doping on the crystallographic quality, surface morphology, and electrical properties, was assessed by X-ray diffraction, Nomarski microscopy, and Hall effect measurements, respectively. Be impurities are well behaved acceptors with hole concentrations as high as $9{\times}10^{17}cm^{-3}$. In addition, the reduction of GaSb lattice parameter with Be doping was studied.

  • The mechanical properties and structure of degummed silk fiber stretched after being treated with 8M LiBr aqueous solution were investigated. The mechanical properties of degummed silk fiber were depended upon the treatment temperature of 8M LiBr aqueous solution. That is, the strength and elongation had a tendancy to increase with the temperature, whereas the Young's modulus tended to decrease. The X-ray diffraction pattern showed that the crystalline orientation was disordered by 8$0^{\circ}C$ treatment neverthless destruction of the crystallites did not occur. rho silk fiber could be successfully stretched up 160% under the condition of 8M LiBr aqueous solution at 80 * after immersed for 1hr. For the highly stretched sample(160%), the tensile strength and Young's modulus were significantly improved in spite of lower elongation at break. According to the examination of X-ray diffraction pattern and SEM, the orientation tends to be occured more and more with stretching ratio. From the DSC thermograms, it shows that the thermal decomposition behavior was different between untreated and treated specimen with 8M LiBr aqueous solution. The maximun endothermic peak of thermal decomposition tends to increase to high temperature with the increase of stretching ratio.

  • We have carried out the measurements of complex dielectric constants with impedance/gain-phase analyzer using capacitor method and the experiments of high temperature X-ray powder diffraction with X-ray diffractometer using ${\theta}-2{\theta}$ scan method for the KTP single crystal which has the premium nonlinear optical properties. From the results of high temperature X-ray powder diffraction experiments, we have found that KTP does not undergo structural phase transition below $900^{\circ}C$. It is clear that KTP undergoes structural phase transition around $900^{\circ}C$ and belongs to orthorhombic above $900^{\circ}C$ still. However, we have applied phenomenological relation of dielectric relaxation to the results of complex dielectric measurement and have found that relaxation mechanism of KTP well satisfies the Cole-Cole relation over the temperature range from $-78^{\circ}C$ to $200^{\circ}C$. And also the relaxation time well satisfies the Vogel-Fulcher relation. It is regarded that the hopping and thermally activated diffusion mechanism may control the conduction behavior of KTP above $200^{\circ}C$.

  • Photoconductive poly crystalline lead oxide coated on amorphous thin film transistor (TFT) arrays is the best candidate for direct digital x-ray detector for medical imaging. Thicker films with lessening density often show lower x-ray induced charge generation and collection becomes less efficient. In this work, we present a new methodology used for the high density deposition of PbO. We investigate the structural properties of the films using X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy experiments. The film coatings of approximately $200\;{\mu}m$ thickness were deposited on $2"{\times}2"$ conductive-coated glass substrates for measurements of dark current and x-ray sensitivity. The lead oxide (PbO) films of $200\;{\mu}m$ thickness were deposited on glass substrates using a wet coating process in room temperature. The influence of post-deposition annealing on the characteristics of the lead oxide films was investigated in detail. X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy, and atomic force microscopy have been employed to obtain information on the morphology and crystallization of the films. Also we measured dark current, x-ray sensitivity and linearity for investigation of the electrical characteristics of films. It was found that the annealing conditions strongly affect the electrical properties of the films. The x-ray induced output charges of films annealed in oxygen gas increases dramatically with increasing annealing temperatures up to $500^{\circ}C$ but then drops for higher temperature anneals. Consequently, the more we increase the annealing temperatures, the better density and film quality of the lead oxide. Analysis of this data suggests that incorporation and decomposition reactions of oxygen can be controlled to change the detection properties of the lead oxide film significantly. Post-deposition thermal annealing is also used for densely film. The PbO films that are grown by new methodology exhibit good morphology of high density structure and provide less than $10\;pA/mm^2$ dark currents as they show saturation in gain (at approximate fields of $4\;V/{\mu}m$). The ability to operate at low voltage gives adequate dark currents for most applications and allows voltage electronics designs.
