  • Exposed composite beams composed of H-beams and concrete slabs are generally used in building structures because of their excellent economics and flexural strength. However, deep beams used under large load often make difficulties in construction. In this study, an exposed composite beam with high strength steel (SM460) used in the bottom flange of built-up H-shaped beam, so-called S-Beam, was proposed in order to reduce beam depth. And its positive and negative flexural strengths were experimentally evaluated. The test results showed that S-Beam has excellent flexural strength and ductility.

  • An ultra-high strength prestressed prismatic beam of 100 MPa in compressive strength was developed by increasing the watertightness of concrete by utilizing centrifugal molding processes without adding expensive admixtures such as silica fume. The ultra-high strength centrifugal shaped square beam installed on the wall is composited with the upper slab concrete and then subjected to a service load. Horizontal shear stress is generated by bending between the centrifugal molding beam and the floor plate, which causes the beam and floor plate to perform composite behavior through shear connections such as studs and rebars. In this study, a flexural load test was performed on a mock-up specimen that was synthesized by fabricating an RC slab on top of a 100 MPa-class centrifugal shaped beam produced at the factory. proven reliability.

  • This paper presents the test results of 24 beam-end specimens to investigate the effect of concrete strength and cover thickness on the development resistance capacity in tensile lap splice length regions. The results showed that as higher strength concrete was employed, nor only development resistance capacity was influenced by cover thickness, but also more sufficient safety factor reserved shorter than the lap splice length provision in current design code. From experimental research results, high-strength concrete development length was not inverse ratio of ($\sqrt{f_{ck}}$) but directly inverse of $f_{ck}$, and it is also said that there is a certain limit length of the embedded steel over which the assumption of uniform bond stress distribution is valid specially for high-strength concrete not having a same embed length such as normal-strength concrete in current design criteria hypothesis.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the hysteretic behaviors of exterior beam-column joints with high strength concrete (f'c≒1000kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$) subjected to cyclic loads. Four exterior subassemblages scaled down about 60% were tested, whose variables were with/without shear reinforcements and with/without slab and spandrel beams. Hoop bars and hooked steel fibers were used as the shear reinforcements. The test results showed that using hooked steel fiber reinforced concrete with volume ratio 1.5% at beam-column joints was very effective to resist shear stress due to cyclic loads.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of concrete strength on the stirrup effectiveness factor(K) of reinforced concrete beams with stirrup based on previous test results(a/d$\geq$2.5). In the procedure of the estimation of K, it was assumed that the ultimate shear strength for beams without stirrup is equal to the concrete contribution to shear strength for beam with stirrup. A model equation for calculation the stirrup of compressive strength of concrete. It was shown that the stirrup effective factor of compressive strength of concrete. It wah shown that the stirrup effective factor is greater than 1.0 up to compressive strength 85MPa. Therefore the current ACI Code equation for predicting the shear strength and the stirrup effectiveness factor of 1.0 is conservative for nomal and high stength concrete beams with stirrup.

  • For the design of flexural and shear crack control for reinforced concrete (RC) beams related to serviceability and reparability ensuring, eight simply-supported normal-strength reinforced concrete (NSRC) beam specimens are tested and the existing high-strength reinforced concrete (HSRC) experimental data are included in the investigation of this work. According to the investigation results of flexural and shear cracks, this works modifies the existing design formulas to determine the spacing of the tensile reinforcement for the flexural crack control of a HSRC/NSRC beam design. Additionally, for a specified shear crack width of 0.4 mm, the allowable stresses of the shear reinforcement are also identified. For the serviceability and reparability ensuring of HSRC/NSRC beams, this works proposes the relationship curves between the maximum flexural width and allowable stress of the tensile reinforcement, and the relationship curves between the shear crack width and allowable shear force that can be used to do the crack width control directly.

  • Objective of this study is to investigate experimentally the flexural behavior of reinforced high-strength concrete beams with Belite cement by comparing with those of normal reinforced concrete beams. The flexural tests are conducted on fourteen specimens having concrete compressive strength of 350 and 600kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$. The main experimental variables are compressive strength of concrete and reinforcement ratios. The load-displacement relationships, the section behavior of beam as a function of the location neutral axis, and ductility capacity are investigated. From the test results, the flexural behavior of reinforced high-strength concrete beams wite Belit cement are similar to the behavior of normal reinforced concrete beams.

  • When the material strength and ductility of shear studs is sufficient to carry the interface shear force, the composite beam can behave safely without premature structural failure in the interface and without ultimate moment reduction. In this study, the influence of the deformation capacity of shear studs embedded in high-strength concrete on structural behavior and design condition of composite beam is analyzed using FEM. In the analysis, load type, degree of shear connection and arrangement of studs are considered as analysis parameters. According to analysis results, in the case of partial interaction, the deformation capacity of studs embedded in high-strength concrete should be considered together with material strength. Especially in the case of uniform arrangement of studs and uniformly distributed load, a minimum available degree of shear connection is restricted by the deformation capacity of studs. In this case, shear studs should be arranged in consideration of the distribution of shear force at the composite section.

  • Bond strength of reinforcing bar to high-perfomance concrete using belite cement is explored using beam end test specimens. The key parameters for the bond test are slump of concrete, top bar effect, and strength of concrete in addition to concrete cover. The test results show that the specimens with belite cement concrete show approximately 10% higer bond strength than those with portland cement concrete. The results also show that the bond strength from the high strength concrete is function of the square root of concrete compressive strength. Bond strength of the top bar is less than bond strength of bottom bar, but the ratios of the bond strength of bottom-cast bars to those for top-cast bars are much less than the modification factor for top reinforcement found in the ACI 318-95 code. Comparisons with other reported tests identified that belite cement increased bond strength while silica fume or flyash used in high strength concrete decreased bond strength. The high-strength and high-slump concrete with belite cement performs well in terms of bond strength to reinforcing steel.
