  • Recently Sucessive progress in train technic has enabled us to constructed high-speed railways for ourselves. This caused more rapid train more pressure on a track and speedier track break-down. Especially in the construction of high-speed rails for high-speed traveling and safety accurate breaking distance is essential and not only computation of rolling resistance in theory but also verification through real measurement are important in basic material for breaking and starting load caused during the train running. In this study, we measured traveling resistance and calculated traveling resistance formula in the case of the SAEMA-EUL which consists of main part of current passenger trains and frights in this country.

  • Recently low resistance of bus line is required for large screen size RFT-CLD panels. As a result, lower resistance Al-alloy is currently reviewed extensively. The resistivity is required smaller than 10$\mu$$\Omega$cm and high resistance of chemical attack is required. In this paper, Al-W thin film were deposited on glass substrates by D.C magnetron sputtering system under various condition for high chemical resistance. Its properties were characterized by SEM, AFM, XRD, 4-point-probe, and cyclic voltammertry. The optimal condition of Al-W was 10$0^{\circ}C$, 100W, 0.4Pa, 23sccm(Ar) and 35$0^{\circ}C$, 20min. annealing. At that condition the resistivity of Al-W(3 wt.%) was about 11$\mu$$\Omega$cm. And when wt.% of W in Al-W alloy was higher than about 4%, Al-W alloy thin film has high chemical resistance.

  • This study investigates the resistance of sustainable ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) on steel reinforcement corrosion. For enhancing the sustainability of UHPC, concrete mixes were prepared with ordinary Portland cement main binder, and mixes with moderate to high percentages of blast furnace cement (CEM III), fly ash (FA), and slag cement as partial replacements of the full quantity of the used cement. Linear polarization resistance technique was employed to estimate the electrochemical behavior of the concrete specimens. Results showed that the compressive strength and the resistance of steel to corrosion in marine environments can be enhanced by improving the sustainability of UHPC through incorporation of CEM III, FA, and slag cement. FA replacement of up to 50% with the addition of 15% SF content produced better compressive strength and steel corrosion resistance than slag cement whether with the use of ordinary Portland cement or blast furnace cement as the main binder.

  • To clarify resistance mechanisms of lincosamide antibiotics, it was examined whether lincosamide antibiotics was able to induce high resistance to macrolide and lincosamide antibiotics against EMR-1 strain of Bacillus species. And it was also examined whether the inducible resistance was plasmid-mediated or chromosome-mediated. This strain was identified as Bacillus licheniformis by its morphological and physiological characteristics. The subinhibitory concentrations of lincomycin and clindamycin induced high resistance in the strain to lincosamide antibiotics, but not to macrolide antibiotics. The inducible resistance was not eliminated by treating the strain with ethidium bromide, and plasmid was not identified by the alkaline lysis method of plasmid preparation. These results indicate, therefore, that the inducible resistance to macrolide and lincosamide antibiotics in the strain may be chromosome-mediated, not plasmid-mediated.

  • A high temperature superconducting(HTS) power cable is available for high capacity current in normal condition. But resistance was appeared to operate unbalance load by thermal current characteristic. This characteristic of HTS power cable used to design for unstated condition. And than, It used to understand and analyze characteristic of power cable thermal and critical current. This study appeared that quench resistance reason from shield and former current rise to superconductor(SC) current. The resistance of SC occurred that the cable temperature rise to fault current after decreased critical current. The quench resistance of SC increased in temperature or decreased in critical current. So the quench resistance of SC correlated with resistance of both shield and former current. It need to sufficiently influenced the parameters of HTS cable design.

  • This study analyzes the factors affecting user resistance to ERP in Vietnam, including the factors related to the cultural values of the users, which is rarely dealt in the previous ERP research. A research model is developed based on Klaus and Blanton [2010] and Hofstede [2011], consisting of the independent variables ('cultural value', 'system', 'organization', and 'process' related variables), a dependent variable ('user resistance to ERP') and a moderating variable ('self efficacy'). Major results of study include (1) users with high degree of uncertainty avoidance and femininity regard ERP as potential threat to their job and are likely to resist to ERP; (2) By training the users with high level of femininity to enhance their self efficacy, the degree of resistance to ERP can be reduced; (3) For ERP to be utilized successfully, systems should be developed in such a way in which working with ERP is not regarded as complex and difficult; and (4) communication and training play an important role in reducing the resistance of users.

  • On the basis of the use of shoes, the outsole, which is mainly made of rubber, has various characteristics. The most important of these characteristics is abrasion resistance and friction. Generally, the abrasion resistance can be improved by adding more reinforcing filler such as silica to the rubber; however, the friction force drops. Owing to these problems, rubber having excellent abrasion resistance and rubber having excellent frictional force are blended. In this study, various characteristics, including wear resistance and friction, were evaluated by blending NBR/SBR or NBR/BR mixture with high wear resistance and CIIR with high friction. The CIIR was increased up to 60 phr, whereas the friction wear characteristics were rapidly changed in the NBR/CIIR blend ratio from 75:15 to 60:30.

  • Stainless steels have been widely used as a building exterior materials in Asian countries for the last decade. It is required for the materials in this field to have an aesthetic appearance, a relatively high strength, and an excellent corrosion resistance. Other metallic materials such as copper, aluminum, and carbon steels have been also used as the exterior materials. Considering the cost of maintenance, stainless steel, having the outstanding corrosion resistance, is replacing other materials in the several parts in the building exteriors. Ferritic stainless steel has been applied as the roofing materials because its thermal expansion is much smaller than that of austenitic stainless steel. Therefore, it is suitable for the large-scale construction such as airport terminal, convention center, and football stadium. To improve the corrosion resistance of the ferritic stainless steels, the modification of alloy composition has been studied to develop new grade materials and the progress in the surface technology has been introduced. Corrosion properties of these materials were evaluated in the laboratory and in the field for longer than two years. High-Cr ferritic stainless steel showed excellent corrosion resistance to the atmospheric environments. In the region close to the sea, the corrosion resistance of high-Cr ferritic stainless steel was much superior to that of other materials, which may prove this steel to be the appropriate materials for the construction around seashore. In some of the large constructions around seashore in South Korea, high-Cr ferritic stainless steels have been used as the building exterior materials for six years.

  • In recent years, concrete-filled box or tubular columns have been commonly used in high-rise buildings. However, a number of fire test results show that there are significant differences between high strength concrete (HSC) and normal strength concrete (NSC) after being subjected to high temperatures. Therefore, this paper presents an investigation on the fire resistance of HSC filled steel tubular columns (CFTCs) under combined temperature and loading. Two groups of full-size specimens were fabricated to consider the effect of type of concrete infilling (plain and reinforced) and the load level on the fire resistance of CFTCs. Prior to fire test, a constant compressive load (i.e., load level for fire design) was applied to the column specimens. Thermal load was then applied on the column specimens in form of ISO 834 standard fire curve in a large-scale laboratory furnace until the set experiment termination condition was reached. The results demonstrate that the higher the axial load level, the worse the fire resistance. Moreover, in the bar-reinforced concrete-filled steel tubular columns, the presence of rebars not only decreased the spread of cracks and the sudden loss of strength, but also contributed to the load-carrying capacity of the concrete core.
