We performed a study on optical properties of $BaSm_2Ti_4O_{12}$ thin films by vacuum ultra violet spectroscopic ellipsometry in the $0.92{\sim}8.6\;eV$ energy range. For the analysis of the measured ellipsometric spectra, a 5-layer model was applied where optical property of the $BaSm_2Ti_4O_{12}$ layer was well represented by a Tauc-Lorentz dispersion function. Our analysis clearly showed new structure in high energy region at about 7.5 eV Consistent changes of refractive index & extinction coefficient of the $BaSm_2Ti_4O_{12}$ thin film by the growth and annealing temperatures were also confirmed.
The knowledge of x-ray spectra is highly desirable in some investigation involves the differential penetrating power and absorption coefficient correction of various photon beam. The transmission data were obtained from the 80 kVp and 120 kVp of CT x-ray beam with the aluminium filter which is designed in a 30 cm of diameter and pipe-typed filter was prepared from 5.0 mm upto 92.3 mm of thickness. To obtain the reconstructed spectra of CT x-ray, the investigator used the iterative numerical analysis which has been extended to include the tungsten characteristics from experimental transmission data with energy interval of 2 keV. Comparison of the calculated transmission data from the reconstructed spectra with that of measurement shows good agreement in both 80 kVp and 120 kVp x-ray beams. This numerical analysis based on iteratively calculation of fractional exposure per energy interval shows the high potential of usefulness of determination the x-ray spectra from the attenuated beam in diagnostic energy range.
The energy spectra and dose calculations were performed for secondary neutrons from a 24 MV LINAC using MCNPX code (V2, 4, 0). The energy spectra for neutrons and photons emitted from the LINAC head, and absorbed dose to water were calculated in water phantom. The absorbed doses calculated with Monte Carlo were $0.66\~0.35$ mGy/photon Gy at the surface to d=5 cm, and calculated with interaction data was 0.52 mGy/photon Gy at the depth of electron equilibrium in water. We have shown that this work can be applied to dose estimation of neutrons from high energy LINAC through the comparison of our results with other results.

A new approach for measuring the specific fracture energy of concrete denoted modified disk-shaped compact tension (MDCT) test is presented. The procedure is based on previous ideas regarding the use of compact tension specimens for studying the fracture behavior of concrete but implies significant modifications of the specimen morphology in order to avoid premature failures (such as the breakage of concrete around the pulling load holes). The manufacturing and test performance is improved and simplified, enhancing the reliability of the material characterization. MDCT specimens are particularly suitable when fracture properties of already casted concrete structures are required. To evaluate the applicability of the MDCT test to estimate the size-independent specific fracture energy of concrete ($G_F$),the interaction between the fracture process zone of concrete andthe boundary of theMDCTspecimens at the end of the test is properly analyzed. Further, the experimental results of $G_F$ obtained by MDCT tests for normal- and high-strength self-compacting concrete mixes are compared with those obtained using the well-established three-point bending test. The procedure proposed furnishes promising results, and the $G_F$ values obtained are reliable enough for the specimen size range studied in this work.
The Geant4 based Monte Carlo code for the application of stereotactic radiosurgery was developed. The probability density function and cumulative density function to determine the incident photon energy were calculated from pre-calculated energy spectrum for the linac by multiplying the weighting factors corresponding to the energy bins. The messenger class to transfer the various MLC fields generated by the planning system was used. The rotation matrix of rotateX and rotateY were used for simulating gantry and table rotation respectively. We construct accelerator world and phantom world in the main world coordinate to rotate accelerator and phantom world independently. We used dicomHandler class object to convert from the dicom binary file to the text file which contains the matrix number, pixel size, pixel's HU, bit size, padding value and high bits order. We reconstruct this class object to work fine. We also reconstruct the PrimaryGeneratorAction class to speed up the calculation time. because of the huge calculation time we discard search process of the ThitsMap and used direct access method from the first to the last element to produce the result files.

We investigate the effect of surface disorder on the lower critical field (Hc1) of MgB2 thin films with a thickness of 850 nm, where the disorder on the surface region is produced by the irradiation of 140 keV Co ions with the dose of 1 × 1014 ions/cm2. The thickness of the damaged region by the irradiation is around 143 nm, corresponding to ~17% of the whole thickness of the film, thereby forming the disordered MgB2 overlayer on the pure MgB2 layer. The magnetic field dependence of magnetization, M(H), for the pristine MgB2 thin film and the film with overlayer is measured at various temperatures, and Hc1 is determined from the difference (△M) between the Meissner line and magnetization signal with the criterion of △M = 10-3 emu. Intriguingly, the film with the disordered overlayer shows a remarkably large Hc1(0) = 108 Oe compared to the Hc1(0) = 84 Oe of pristine film, indicating that the disordered MgB2 overlayer on the pure MgB2 layer serves to prevent the penetration of vortices into the sample. These results provide new ideas for improving the superheating field to design high-performance superconducting radio-frequency cavities.
Steam generator tubes (SGTs) in nuclear power plants (NPPs) are a boundary between the primary side generating heat by nuclear fission and the secondary side generating electric power by a turbine. The water inside the SGT is high temperature and high pressure. Therefore, defects and magnetic phases (MPs) are partly produced in non-magnetic SGT by high stresses and temperatures. This causes trouble regarding the safety of SGTs but it is difficult to detect the MP using the conventional eddy current technique (ECT). In particular, a circumferential defect (CD) and circumferential magnetic phase (CMP) cannot detected by ECT. Consequently, a new method is needed to detect CDs and CMPs in SGT. A new U-type yoke with two types of coils was designed and the reactance signal by the CMPs and CDs in the SGT material was simulated.

This paper presents the design and performance results of a pair of 6-kA high-temperature superconducting (HTS)-copper current leads, in which, over a short length at the warm end (e.g.,77K) of each HTS section, comprised of paralleled Bi-2223/Ag-Au tapes, is operated in the current-sharing mode. Because of their reliance on vapor cooling, the leads are applicable only to liquid helium cooled superconducting magnets such as those used in high-energy Physics accelerators and fusion machines. The experimental measurements have demonstrated that key performance data of the new 6-kA HTS-Copper leads agree reasonably well with those expected from design.
According to developing high energy linear accelerators and treatment methods, like (3 dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3D-CRT), intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), many radiotherapy centers are replacing older linear accelerators with new higher technical machines. This often presents a shielding problem as the designed shield for the existing rooms is not adequate for the higher technical machines. Additional shielding in limited existing space becomes necessary. We are replacing older brachytherapy room with new higher technical linear accelerator for IMRT. This room is not adequate for the IMRT machine without additional shielding design. The logical development of optimum structural shielding designs with concrete and high density shielding blocks are presented. We obtained following results by comparison between the pre-calculating values and actual survey of completed LINAC installation. High density shielding blocks have more powerful radiation protection about 2 times.

ZnTe semiconductor is very attractive materials for optoelectronic devices in the visible green spectral region because of it has direct bandgap of 2.26 eV. The prototypes of ZnTe light emitting diodes (LEDs) have been reported [1], showing that their green emission peak closely matches the most sensitive region of the human eye. Another application to photovoltaics proved that ZnTe is useful for the production of high-efficiency multi-junction solar cells [2,3]. By using the pulse laser deposition system, ZnTe thin films were deposited on ZnO thin layer, which is grown on (0001) Al2O3substrates. To produce the plasma plume from an ablated ZnO and ZnTe target, a pulsed (10 Hz) YGA:Nd laser with energy density of 95 mJ/$cm^2$ and wavelength of 266 nm by a nonlinear fourth harmonic generator was used. The laser spot focused on the surface of the ZnO and ZnTe target by using an optical lens was approximately 1 mm2. The base pressure of the chamber was kept at a pressure around $10^{-6}$ Torr by using a turbo molecular pump. The oxygen gas flow was controlled around 3 sccm by using a mass flow controller system. During the ZnTe deposition, the substrate temperature was $400^{\circ}C$ and the ambient gas pressure was $10^{-2}$ Torr. The structural properties of the samples were analyzed by XRD measurement. The optical properties were investigated by using the photoluminescence spectra obtained with a 325 nm wavelength He-Cd laser. The film surface and carrier concentration were analyzed by an atomic force microscope and Hall measurement system.
