고 에너지 밀링 공정으로 제조된 지르콘 나노분말의 소결특성에 관한 연구 (Sintering Characteristics of Zircon Nanopowders Fabricated by High Energy Milling Process)

  • In this study, 5 um sized $ZrSiO_4$ was ground to 1.9 um, 0.3 um, and 0.1 um sized powders by wet high energy milling process, and the sintering characteristics were observed. Pure $ZrSiO_4$ itself can-not be sintered to these levels of theoretical density, but it was possible to sinter $ZrSiO_4$ powder of nano-scale size of, -0.1 um to the theoretical density and to lower the sintering temperature for full density. Also, the decomposition of $ZrSiO_4$ with a size in the micron range resulted in the formation of monoclinic $ZrO_2$; however, in the nano sized range, the decomposition resulted in the tetragonal phase of $ZrO_2$. So, it was possible to improve the sintering characteristics of nano-sized $ZrSiO_4$ powders.

민코 아역청탄의 순산소 연소특성 (Combustion Characteristics of Minco Sub-bituminous Coal at Oxy-Fuel Conditions)

  • New way to effectively capture $CO_2$ in coal fired power plant is the combustion of coal using oxy-fuel technology. Combustion characteristics of Minco sub-bituminous coal at oxy-fuel conditions using TGA and drop tube furnace (DTF) were included activation energy about the char burnout, volatile yield and combustion efficiency of raw coal, the porosity of pyrolyzed char and fusion temperature of by-product ash. TGA result shows that the effect of $CO_2$ on combustion kinetics reduces activation energy by approximately 7 kJ/mol at air oxygen level(21% $O_2$) and decreases the burning time by approximately 16%. The results from DTF indicated similar combustion efficiency under $O_2/CO_2$ and $O_2/N_2$ atmospheres for equivalent $O_2$ concentration whereas high combustion efficiency under $O_2/N_2$ than $O_2/CO_2$ was obtained for high temperature of more than $1,100^{\circ}C$. Overall coal burning rate under $O_2/CO_2$ is decreased due to the lower rate of oxygen diffusion into coal surface through the $CO_2$ rich boundary layer. By-product ash produced under $O_2/CO_2$ and $O_2/N_2$ was similar IDT in irrelevant to $O_2$ concentration and atmospheres gas during the coal combustion.

TiO2 Branched Nanostructure Anode Material Prepared by Seeding Method for High-performance Lithium Ion Batteries

  • We demonstrate rutile $TiO_2$ branched nanostructure ($TiO_2$-BN) electrodes synthesized by seeding method for enhanced lithium intercalation properties. The morphology and crystalline nature of the $TiO_2$-BN were clearly observed by field-emission transmission electron microscopy and fast Fourier transform pattern. The $TiO_2$-BN electrodes showed excellent capacity and high rate performance. The improved lithium-ion intercalation properties of the $TiO_2$- BN may be attributed to relatively large specific surface area and short transport distance of the branched nanostructure.

  • Superstrate pin amorphous silicon thin-film(a-Si:H) solar cells are prepared on $SnO_2:F$ and ZnO:Al transparent conducting oxides(TCO) in order to see the effect of TCO/p-layers on a-Si:H solar cell operation. The solar cells prepared on textured ZnO:Al have higher open circuit voltage VOC than cells prepared on $SnO_2:F$. Presence of thin microcrystalline p-type silicon layer(${\mu}c-Si:H$) between ZnO:Al and p a-SiC:H plays a major role by causing improvement in fill factor as well as $V_{OC}$ of a-Si:H solar cells prepared on ZnO:Al TCO. Without any treatment of pi interface, we could obtain high $V_{OC}$ of 994mV while keeping fill factor(72.7%) and short circuit current density $J_{SC}$ at the same level as for the cells on $SnO_2:F$ TCO. This high $V_{OC}$ value can be attributed to modification in the current transport in this region due to creation of a potential barrier.

  • Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have been widely investigated as a next generation solar cell because of their simple structure and low manufacturing cost. To realize a commercially competitive technology of DSSCs, it is imperative to employ a technique to prepare nanocrystlline thin film on the flexible organic substrate, aiming at increasing the flexibility and reducing the weight as well as the overall device thickness of DSSCs. The key operation of glass-to-plastic substrates conversion is to prepare mesoporous TiO2 thin film at low temperature with a high surface area for dye adsorption and a high degree of crystallinity for fast transport of electrons. However, the electron transport in the TiO2 film synthesized at low temperature is very poor. So, in this study, TiO2 films synthesized at high temperature were transferred on the selective substrate. We fabricated DSSCs at low temperature using this method. So, we confirmed that the performance of DSSCs using TiO2 films synthesized at high temperature was improved.

Aspects of Hard Breakdown Characteristics in a 2.2-nm-thick $SiO_2$ Film

  • This paper mainly discusses the hard breakdown of 2.2-nm-thick $SiO_2$ films. It is shown that the hard breakdown event of a 2.2-nm-thick $SiO_2$ film greatly depends on the applied electric field. It is strongly suggested that the local weak spots created by applying a low initial stress to a 2.2-nm-thick $SiO_2$film resist the onset of hard breakdown. In other words, it is anticipated that the stored electrostatic energy is fast dissipated by trap-assisted tunneling in 2.2-nm-thick $SiO_2$ film. Consequently, it is strongly suggested that 2.2-nm-thick $SiO_2$ films are intrinsically quite robust.

수열반응에 의한 고순도 극미립자 BaTiO3 분말합성 (Preparationof High Purity, Submicron BaTiO3 Powder Prepared by Hydrothermal Reaction)

  • High purity, submicron BaTiO3 powder was prepared by a hydrothermal technique using Ba(OH)2.8H2O, TiCl4 and NH4OH as starting raw materials. The submicron BaTiO3 powder was synthesized at 130~23$0^{\circ}C$ for 2.5h to yield highly crystalline particles with a narrow particle distribution. The mole ratio of Ba(OH)2.8H2O/TiO(OH)2 was 1.5. It is possible to obtain BaTiO3 with Ba : Ti=1.00$\pm$0/01. The samples densified well at 13$25^{\circ}C$, showing a uniform and fine grain structure. The grain size ranged between 0.3 and 0.5${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. The products obtained by hydrothermal treatment at various temperatures from 130 to 23$0^{\circ}C$ were characterized by XRD, DTA, BET and SEM etc.

  • We investigated the physical properties of stoichiometric and non-stoichiometric oxide doped complex perovskite, $Ba(Zn_{1/3}Ta_{2/3})O_3$ ceramics and their impacts on the microwave dielectric performances using various characterization techniques such as X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and network analyzer. According to the measurement of lattice constant changes, anomalous lattice volume contraction of $ZrO_2$ doped $Ba(Zn_{1/3}Ta_{2/3})O_3$ sample only showed the dielectric quality factor enhancements, which was due to the lattice volume contraction as well as the 1:2 B-site cation ordering. In addition, NiO doping was useful to the stabilization of temperature coefficient of resonance frequency.

High Temperature Properties of $Si_3N_4-Re$Silicon Oxynitride (Re=Y, Yb, Er, La) Ceramics

  • Four different $\beta-Si_3N_4$ ceramics with silicon oxynitrides $[Y_10(SiO_4)_6N_2, Yb_4Si_2N_2O_7, Er_2Si_3N_4O_3, \;and La_{10}(SiO_4)_6N_2$, respectivley] as secondary phases have been fabricated by hot-pressing the $Si_3N_4-Re_4Si_2N_2O_7$ (Re=Y, Yb, Er, and La) compositions at $1820^{\circ}C$ for 2h under a pressure of 25 MPa. The high temperature strength and oxidation behavior of the hot-pressed ceramics were characterized and compared with those of the ceramics fabricated from $Si_3N_4-Si_2O_7$ compositions. The $Si_3N_4-Re_4Si_2N_2O_7$composition investigated herein showed comparable high temperature strength to those from $Si_3N_4-Re_2Si_2O_7$ compositions. Si3N4 ceramics from a $Si_3N_4-Y_4Si_2N_2O_7$ composition showed the highest strength of 877 MPa at $1200^{\circ}C$ among the compositions. All $Si_3N_4$ ceramics investigated herein showed a parabolic weight gain with oxidation time at $1400^{\circ}C$ and the oxidation products of the ceramics were $SiO_2$ and $Re_2Si_2O_7$. The $Si_3N_4-Re_4Si_2N_2O_7$ compositions showed inferior oxidation resistance to those from $Si_3n_4-Re_2Si_2O_7$ compositions, owing to the incompatibility of the secondary crystalline phases of those ceramics with $SiO_2$, the oxidation product of Si3N4.Si3N4 ceramics from a $Si_3N_4-Er_4Si_2N_2O_7$ composition showed the best oxidation resistance of 0.375mg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ after oxidation at $1400^{\circ}C$ for 102 h in air among the compositions.

  • 비가수분해 솔-젤법에 의하여 여러 가지 조성의 $V_{2}O_{5}-TiO_2$ 촉매를 합성하여 특성분석을 실시하고 황화수소의 선택 산화반응에 대한 촉매성능을 고찰하였다. 이 $V_{2}O_{5}-TiO_2$ 촉매는 높은 표면적을 가지고 VOx가 작은 입자로 잘 분산되어 있었고, 환원성도 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 12 wt% 이상의 바나디아 담지량부터는 결정성 $V_{2}O_5$가 관찰되어 $H_{2}S$의 전환율을 감소시키는 결과를 초래하였다. 이 방법으로 제조된 $V_{2}O_{5}-TiO_2$ 촉매는 통상의 제로젤(xerogel) 촉매나 함침 촉매에 비해 높은 반응활성을 보여 주었고, 암모니아와 물이 포함된 조건에서도 황화수소를 선택 산화시켜 이산화황을 거의 발생시키지 않고 환경 친화적이고 안전한 물질인 원소 황(sulfur)과 티오황산암모늄(ATS)으로 회수할 수 있었다.
