In Vivo Evaluation of Multi Lamellar Vesicle Liposome’s Percutaneous Absorption and Stability

  • We had prepared MLV liposome with Hibiscus Esculentus Ext.(HEE) which have fluorescent light in order to evaluate its percutaneous absorption about hairless rat skin. Then we investigated particle size of MLV using confocal laser scanning microscope(CLSM) and transmission electron microscope(TEM), respectively. Stability of MLV liposome and penetration of MLV liposome to hairless rat skin was measured by CLSM. As a result of experiments, MLV was globular shape and the rage of particle size was 0.3-0.5$\mu\textrm{m}$ mostly. Cream-type MLV had high stability comparatively. When we treated with MLV to rat skin, skin penetration was enhanced, especially, the optimum concentration of MLV on penetration to rat skin was 10%. Optimum penetration time was 6hr-12hr. And MLV-type HEE was more effective on percutaneous absorption than HEE-cream or liposome-type HEE.

육상식물의 생산력추정을 위한 상대상장법의 이용에 대하여 (On the Utilization of the Allometric Method for an Estimation of the Productivity of the Terrestrial Plants)

  • In order to approach a reasonable method for the indirect estimation of the productivity in terrestrial plants, allometric method was studied with herbs, such as Boenmeria frutescens and Hibiscus mutabilis, and scrubs, such as Robinia pseud oacacia and Morus alba f. Hchiroe. Allometric relations between D230H, square of the stem(or shoot) diameter(D30) on 30cm height above ground multiplied by stem length(H), and the amount of the stem(Ws), orof the leaves per stem, were fitted to each material plant with linear regression. The allometric coefficient in relation of D230H to Ws was approximated between scrubs having different life form, and the allometric function in relation of DF2 to WL was common between herbs in spite of having different growth habitat. As the allometries between D230H and Ws or WL were changeable with the seasonal change it funciton should be calculated repeatedly whenever investigating the standing crop of such community. It is able to utilize an indirect value of D30 obtained from the allometry between D30 and H because direct measurement of D30 in the field is accompanied by troublesome and waste of much time.

Analysis of Handsheet Properties of Kenaf Base and Core Blended Pulps

  • This study was to measure the potential of nonwoody fibrous material, kenaf. Whole stalk of kenaf, Hibiscus cannabinus was separated by two parts of bast and core portion, and cooked separately by alkaline method. Morphological characteristic was evaluated using confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM) and fiber quality analyzer(FQA). The strength properties of handsheets, made by different mixing ration between kenaf base and core fibers, were measured. Cross-sectional area of bast fibers was smaller than that of core fibers, but the bast fibers had a thick cell wall and narrow lumen area. Bast fibers were longer in length than core fibers. Core fibers had thin cell walls, broad lumen areas, and short lengths, and they had collapsed shape even in water. These characteristics of core fibers affected strength properties of handsheet positively. When the amount of core fibers increased, the strength properties of handsheet were increased. When the amount of bast fibers increased, the handsheet had rougher surface and higher air permeability.

  • 수종(數種)의 조경수목(造景樹木)에서 $SO_2$피해(被害)는 7월(月) 처리(處理)에서 가장 심(甚)하게 나타났으며 8월(月) 및 9월(月)에는 현저(顯著)히 낮아졌다. Daminozide 전처리(前處理)는 공시수목류(供試樹木類)의 $SO_2$피해정도(被害程度)에 영향(影響)을 미치지 못하였으며 MH전처리(前處理)는 무궁화에서의 $SO_2$피해엽수(被害葉數)를 증가(增加)시켰다.

Effect of Chitosan Addition on the Surface Properties of Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus) Paper

  • The present paper studies the effect of chitosan, cationic starch and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as sizing agents to enhance surface properties of kenaf paper. The polymers were incorporated into the sheets by spray application. The results clearly showed that the addition of chitosan to a sheet formed from beaten fibers had excellent improvement in surface properties, compared to the effect of other additives. Sizing quality of cationic starch fairly matched with the sizing quality of chitosan, however, it was able to reduce the water absorption potential of paper more than chitosan at a same concentration. In most other properties, particularly the most important property for printing papers, surface smoothness, chitosan-sized papers are superior to the paper sized with cationic starch or PVA.

  • Many plant species are used in China in traditional medicine for the prevention and treatment of cancer. This paper presents some of these species with details on other pharmacologic evaluation and its traditional Chinese meditional uses. The known bioaktivities and some chemical constituents of each of the species given. Information on bioactivities of each species resulting from tests on experimental animals are given. Many of the known chemical constituents of each species are given. Various species of plants elective for various types. Sooty Mould Disease Caused by Leptoxyphium kurandae on Kenaf

  • In September 2013, we discovered sooty mould growing on kenaf with the extrafloral nectaries in Iksan, Korea and identified the causative fungus as Leptoxyphium kurandae based on morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analyses. This is the first report of sooty mould caused by L. kurandae on kenaf in Korea and globally.
