  • Magnetic and physical properties of sintered bodies prepare from waste sintered barium hexaferrite magnets which were come from fabrication process of isotropic permanent magnets were investigated. The properties of the sintered bodies were characterized by XRD, XRF, SEM, and BH curve tracer. After the waste permanent magnets were milled and granulated, the granules of the waste permanent magnet powders and the commercial granules were mixed with various proportions, pressed, and sintered. although the magnetic properties were decreased gradually with the content of waste magnet powder, the magnetic characteristics of the sintered magnets at $1150~1200^{\circ}C$ were comparable to those required for isotropic permanent magnets.

  • $Co_2Z$-type barium ferrites ($Ba_3Co_2Fe_{24}O_{41}$) were synthesized using variation method. First, M-type, $Co_2Y$-type and $Co_2Z$-type synthesized by hydrothermal method. Second, M- and Y-type precursors for synthesis of $Co_2Z$ hexaferrite by hydrothermal and ball milling method. the morphology, structure and magnetic properties of the barium ferrite particles were characterized using XRD, FESEM, VSM, impedance. As a result, Single phase of M-type and $Co_2Y$-type were obtained. Manufactured powders of M+Y ball milling, M+Y hydrothermal were similar to single phase of $Co_2Z$-type hexaferrite, all powders were obtained theoretical magnetization (50 emu/g). The largest initial permeability were obtained $Co_2Z$ hexaferrite synthesized by reagent precusor, With increasing calcination temperature was lowered the initial permeability. In another synthesis didn't almost that little change could be found.

  • Doped and undoped barium hexaferrite powders ($BaFe_{12}O_{19}$, $Ba_{0.7}Ti_{0.3}Fe_{12}O_{19}$ and $Ba_{0.7}La_{0.3}Fe_{12}O_{19}$) were produced by the sol-gel method. The effects of substituting elements were studied in terms of the magnetic properties of barium hexaferrite powders. The magnetic properties were remarkably changed by the substitution of $La^{3+}$ and $Ti^{4+}$ ions for the $Ba^{2+}$ ion and were accompanied by oxygen deficiency in the $BaFe_{12}O_{19}$. Coercivities ($H_C$) from 4200 to 5100 Oe, remanences ($M_R$) from 22 to 49 emu/g and saturation magnetizations ($M_S$) from 41 to 73 emu/g were obtained for different samples. The obtained results were discussed in detail.

  • M-Zn (M = Sb, V, Nb) substituted M-type strontium hexaferrites were prepared by a ceramic method. The phase composition, morphology and magnetic properties were studied by x-ray diffractometry, scanning electron microscopy and vibrating sample magnetometry. Saturation magnetization increases with a substitution up to 75.0 emu/g (2.5 % higher compared to unsubstituted hexaferrite) and then decreases with a further substitution. A coercive field of substituted hexaferrite powders with highest saturation magnetization is more than 3 kOe. Substituted strontium hexaferrite powders prepared in this work are a rare example of high $M_S$ compositions without doping rare-earth elements and would be a promising candidate for a permanent magnet application.

  • The polycrystalline sample of $Ba_2Co_{1.5}Mg_{0.5}Fe_{11.88}Ga_{0.12}O_{22}$ Y-type hexaferrite, doped with Ga-cation, was prepared by using the solid-state reaction method. The crystalline structure of sample was investigated by x-ray diffractometer (XRD), and the magnetic properties of sample were measured by vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), and $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectrometer. The crystal structure of prepared sample was determined to be rhombohedral with space group R-3m. From the temperature dependence of the magnetization curves under 100 Oe between 4.2 and 740 K, two temperature-dependent magnetic transitions occurred in the $Ba_2Co_{1.5}Mg_{0.5}Fe_{11.88}Ga_{0.12}O_{22}$ sample. $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectra of the sample were analyzed at various temperatures ranging from 4.2 to 620 K, and the $Ba_2Co_{1.5}Mg_{0.5}Fe_{11.88}Ga_{0.12}O_{22}$ sample showed abrupt changes in $H_{hf}$ and $E_Q$ at 200 K, indicating the spin transition effect. We have also determined the magnetic transition temperature $T_C$, in addition to the temperature dependent magnetization and ZVC measurements.

  • Synthesis of Z-type hexaferrite Ba3Co2Fe24O41 (Ba3Z) and Ba1.5La1.5Co2Fe24O41 (Ba1.5La1.5Z) powders were tried using molten salt synthesis after primary calcination. Ba3Z calcined at 1000℃ was formed with both M-type and Y-type hexaferrite, and then Z-type was obtained when sintered with molten salt at 1150℃ and 1200℃. In the case of Ba1.5La1.5Z calcined at 1000℃, however, M-type hexaferrite, CoFe2O4 (Spinel phase), and LaFeO3 were synthesized. As a result, Z-type hexaferrite was not synthesized after sintering with molten salt. In addition, the aspect ratio of the particles decreased as the sintering temperature increased with molten salt synthesis. To obtain a single-phase Ba1.5La1.5Z with a high aspect ratio, it is expected the raw materials have to calcine below the temperature of a spinel phase formation before sintering with molten salt.

  • The grain growth behavior of M-type Sr hexaferrite (SrM) grains is investigated with the addition of MnCO3. First, the SrM powder is synthesized by a conventional solid-state reaction. The powder compacts of SrM are sintered at 1250℃ for 2 h with various amounts of MnCO3 (0, 0.5, 1.0, and 4.0 mol%). There is no secondary solid phase in any of the sintered samples. Relative density increases when MnCO3 is added to the SrM. Obvious abnormal grain growth does not appear in any of the SrM samples with MnCO3. The average grain size increases when 0.5 mol% MnCO3 is added to the SrM. However, as the amount of MnCO3 increase to over 0.5 mol%, the average grain size decreases. These observations allow us to conclude that the growth of SrM grains is governed by the two-dimensional nucleation grain growth mechanism, and the critical driving force for the growth of a grain decreases as the amount of MnCO3 increases.

  • The samples of $Ba_2CoZnFe_{12}O_{22}$ was synthesized by the solid-state reaction method. The toroids of $Ba_2CoZnFe_{12}O_{22}$ were sintered with various sintering temperature at 1050, 1100, 1150, and $1200^{\circ}C$, and studied by x-ray diffractometer, vibrating sample magnetometer, network analyzer, and Mssbauer spectrometer. From the XRD patterns, the density of samples increased with increasing sintering temperature. From the magnetic hysteresis curves up to 10 kOe at 295 K, the saturation magnetization ($M_s$) of $Ba_2CoZnFe_{12}O_{22}$ samples in various sintered at 1050, 1100, 1150 ,and $1200^{\circ}C$ were showed around $M_s$= 33.0 emu/g. However, With increasing sintering temperature, the coercivity ($H_c$) of samples decrease. Complex permeability and permittivity of samples in various sintering temperatures were measured between 100MHz to 4 GHz. With increasing sintering temperature, the permeability of samples increase.

  • A magnetic powder, M-type barium hexaferrite (BaFe12O19), was consolidated with the spark plasma sintering process. Three different holding temperatures, $850^{\circ}C$, $875^{\circ}C$ and $900^{\circ}C$ were applied to the spark plasma sintering process with the same holding times, heating rates and compaction pressure of 30 MPa. The relative density was measured simultaneously with spark plasma sintering and the convergent relative density after cooling was found to be proportional to the holding temperature. The full relative density was obtained at $900^{\circ}C$ and the total sintering time was only 33.3 min, which was much less than the conventional furnace sintering method. The higher holding temperature also led to the higher saturation magnetic moment (${\sigma}_s$) and the higher coercivity ($H_c$) in the vibrating sample magnetometer measurement. The saturation magnetic moment (${\sigma}_s$) and the coercivity ($H_c$) obtained at $900^{\circ}C$ were 56.3 emu/g and 541.5 Oe for each.
