Further, the prescription should be cost-effective, safe and have no side effects. Also, the interaction between Herbal and Western drugs should be considered carefully. 3) There are general acupuncture, scalp acupuncture, Pharmacopuncture, Sa-am acupuncture as well as acupuncture treatments for Hwabyung. 4) Moxibustion and cupping are useful, relieving various somatic symptoms of Hwabyung. Conclusions : Pharmacotherapy (Herbal medicine), Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Cupping for Hwabyung were studied. Objective : Bone homeostasis is maintained by balance of bone formation and resorption. Therefore, bone related diseases arose by disturbance of this balance between osteoblast and osteoclast activities. To develop a successful screening system of the therapeutic components based on oriental medicine is essential to set out systematic approach for that purpose. Methods : This study was perforated Sprague-Dawley rat femur for bony defects(${\phi}5mm$) by the fissure bur. And experimetal group were treated with Cervi Pantotricuhum Cornu injection at both $Sh{\grave{e}}nsh{\tilde{u}}$(BL23) & $D{\grave{a}}zh{\grave{u}}(BL11)(0.2m{\ell})$. This was evaluated by radiography and histological analysis with in situ hybridization. Results : Cervi Pantotricuhum Cornu Herbal Acupuncture has weak effect on bony defect healing and this was evaluated by X-ray taking and histological analysis with in situ hybridization. Osteocalcin gene expression was not changed by Cervi Pantotricuhum Cornu Herbal Acupuncture in bony defects animal model. Conclusion : Taken together this study show that the Cervi Pantotricuhum Cornu herbal-acupuncture has a weak effect healing of bony defects, this type of approach might give a good chance to explore the favorable effects of Cervi Pantotricuhum Cornu herbal-acupuncture on bone tissue.

Objectives : The aim of this study is to evaluate the safety of acupuncture therapy when applied to patients who are undergoing anticoagulants / antiplatelet medication therapy combined with herbal medicine using a retrospective, case-control study. Methods : 428 charts of patients were reviewed in this study. Odds ratio between case of bleeding-related adverse event and control was calculated as main analysis. Exposures were anticoagulants / antiplatelet medication, Hwalhyeolgeoeo herbal medicine and combination of both drugs. Additionally, odds ratios were calculated according to the severity of bleeding-related adverse events. Results : The results were as following: 1. Analysis of all bleeding-related adverse events showed there was no increased risk of combined therapy compared with other exposures and control group. 2. Analysis of only clinically significant adverse events showed there was no increased risk of combined therapy compared with other exposure and control group. 3. Hwalhyeolgeoeo herbal medicine group showed a tendency of increased risk of bleeding-related adverse events in all analysis but was not statistically significant. Conclusions : The results suggest that Hwalhyeolgeoeo herbal medicine-anticoagulant / antiplatelet medication combined therapy may not increase risk of bleeding-related adverse events in acupuncture therapy. By executing various modules of analysis, it was possible to acquire useful data for possible future studies. Further research is needed to confirm such results.
Objectives : This study is to evaluate the efficacy of Hominis Placenta Herbal Acupuncture(HPA) on dysmenorrhea. Methods : Volunteers of fourteen subjects who used to feel pains in menstrual period were employed to answer the questionnaire. Subjects were divided into two groups Hominis Placenta Herbal Acupuncture(HPA) treatment group(Sample Group) and Normal Saline(N/S) treatment group(Control Group). HPA and N/S were injected on the Cheonchu(ST25), Gwanwon(CV4), Joksamni(ST36) and Hyeolhae(SP10) acupuncture points. Subjects were treated depending on menstrual period, two times a weeks, in total four times after ovulation cycle. Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging(D.I.T.I.) was taken and Visual Analog Scale(VAS) was examined before and after each treatment. Results : The VAS score of Sample Group were decreased significantly compared to that of Control Group.(p<0.05) The changes of difference of abdominal mean temperature of Control Group and Sample Group were significancy. HPA therapy reduced difference of right and left abdomial thermal temperature more than N/S therapy in dysmenorrheic patients. Conclusion : The Hominis Placenta Herbal Acupuncture therapy may be good effects on the Dysmenorrhea.

Objective : Ankylosing spondylitic is a chronic inflammatory disease which most frequently the sacro-iliac joints of young men and known as rare disease. There was no clinical report on functional assessment of ankylosing spondylitis. In order to evaluate the effect of clinical treatment, it was necessary to apply valuable and useful of assessment. Methods : We evaluate 1 cases of diagnosed patient with askylosing spondylitis by AIMS2, M-HAQ, K-HAQ, BASFI, and BASDAI after a series of herbal acupuncture treatment.(Solution of herbal acupuncture is made of vaporizing extraction method from the prescription Sineumheo 1.) Results : Herbal acupuncture had relieved pain and morning stiffness successfully and recovered ankylosing spondylitis functionally. Conclusion : 1. Herbal acupuncture had relieved pain and morning stiffness of ankylosing spondylitis. 2. AIMS2 was not useful to evaluate ankylosing spondylitis because of long evaluation time and low specificity. 3. Although there is no translation version of them, BASFI, and BASDAI are clinically useful of assessment, because of short evaluation time and high specificity. 4. K-HAQ with M-HAQ is useful to evaluate the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis because of snort evaluation time and high specificity.
Objective : The aim of this study was to investigate anti-arthritic effects of Honghwa-ja herbal acupuncture extract through inhibitory MIF activation. Methods: After Rheumatoid arthritis(RA) knee joint was induced by lipopolysaccharide(LPS) in vivo, Honghwa-ja herbal acupuncture solution was applied on $ST_{35}$(犢鼻) and $EX-LE_{202}$(內膝眼) coresponding human body. To research the effect on the expression of MIF, COX-2, MMP-9 mRNA, RT-PCR was performed on LPS-stimulated Raw 264.7 cells. Results: In the Honghwa-ja herbal acupuncture solution treated Raw 264.7 cell, the mRNA expression of cytokines, RA related inflammation factors, such as the MIF, COX-2, and MMP-9 reduced concentration dependently. Positive reaction of RA-related cytokines MIF, $IL-6R-{\alpha}$, STAT3, COX-2, MMP-9 was reduced. Conclusion : Honghwa-ja herbal acupuncture extract has significant protecting ability against acute progressive RA by inhibiting the production of MIF, as a top in cytokines related to inflammation.
